Polytechnic doesn’t employ HND graduates as lectures.. Says who?? Let’s be guided please. They do
They don't, HND graduates are not employed as full time lecturers in Polytechnics, go and verify.
I have asked lecturers working in Polytechnics and they verified it, I have read More that 10 Polytechnic recruitment announcements and None of them are employing HND graduates as Graduate Assistants or Assistant Lecturers.

Yes. You are still regurgitating.

All what you are saying is I have applied, I am applying for so so and so. I have not seen any improvement in your life since you acquired BSc based on what you have said so far.

There are have been some BSc holders who are jobless with their 2:1 and even first class. Why are they not getting those benefits you mentioned of BSc holders?

I have seen some ND holders who are working in IT firms and are making more money than you ever dreamed of.

What's your course of study?

I cited KPMG as example because about 12 or 15 years ago they always state it that HND holders are not eligible to apply but now they are eligible. I asked what has changed?

How many companies do you know?

I am more particular about you because you think life revolve around certificates.

There are many HND holders who later acquired BSc and their lives changed but your own is still hanging on mere dreams.

There are many HND holders who are working in companies you will ever dreamed of.

There are some SSCE holders who learned tech skills and are making big money from their homes you are here crying BSc this BSc that.

Wake up.

You are not informed at all.

About 3 to 4 years ago. A Polytechnic graduate from ilaro got full scholarship for PhD without master degree. That is just 1 in many.
You're really pained by my stance🤓🤓🤓

So you think I'm that dumb to come and state my personal achievements here grin grin grin

I'd rather put you in suspense so you continue to make your assumptions 🤗🤗🤗

You call it regurgitation but I call them facts and I'll state them here again!!

Polytechnics that train HND graduates don't employ them as Lecturers, they employ University graduates all through, they relegate HND graduates to the lab as technologists.

Apart from First Bank and Fidelity Bank, No Bank in Nigeria employs HND graduates as core staff of the bank, they only employ them as contract staff.

COREN doesn't certify HND graduates as Engineers, they only certify Degree holders.
HND graduates must obtain PGDEng and MEng plus a minimum of 2 years working experience before they are certified.

HND graduates are not eligible for all National and International Masters Scholarships ( I know you hate this very one)

HND graduates don't go beyond level 14 in federal and state civil service regardless of their additional qualifications except they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in the process.

You're blabbing about Tech, Do you know that Microsoft, Google, IBM and the rest have laid off thousands of employees because of the emergence of AI huh huh huh

Most of the Developed and Developing nations are suffering from ageing population and population decline, they're using fully funded Masters Scholarships to bring brilliant and hard working youth in and BSc is the only certificate recognized.

So your peeps with First Class and 2.1 in their Bachelors are sleeping on these opportunities.

HND = Has No Degree

You are still regurgitating the same old story.

I am more particular about you. Ever since you acquired your BSc, what has changed in your life? What sort of connection have you made that has transformed your life due to the BSc you hold?

Stop regurgitating the same old story.

KPMG company used to to state in their job advert that HND holders should not apply what has changed lately that they now include HND in the job requirements?

Can you search about the HND holders who had got full scholarship and see for yourself?

Your mentality has brought Nigeria where it is today. Glorifying certificates when Chinese people who only have technical skills are making things happen you are here worshiping certificate.
So it's only KPMG that recruit's HND, what a sad story for HND graduates grin grin grin

The onus is on you to mention HND graduates that got fully funded scholarships, you failed to mention any and you want me to do the homework for you smiley smiley smiley

You're asking if anything has changed for me since I obtained my BSc? If I answer you now, you'll insist that I'm regurgitating grin grin grin Anyways I'll list some for you:

This month, I applied for the World Economic Forum Cohort! (Google it)

I've been applying to Teach English in Japan and I've gotten a direction on what to do to land one.

I'll apply for The Swedish Institute Scholarship for Global Professionals between now and end of February next year.

HND graduates are not eligible to apply for all of these👆

I'm I still regurgitating?

Can you give me accurate figures?

Okay, let's assume the accurate figure is 2k BSc holders.

How many BSc holders are applying and how many are getting it? I expect all the applicants to get full scholarship based on your compaign against Polytechnic education.

Please, answer this☝️

Besides, you have not answered my questions.

You made me to do a little research about HND holders getting scholarship and I stumbled upon some who got full scholarship with their HND.
Please keep going to Polytechnics, All I know is even Polytechnics don't employ HND graduates as lecturers, Polytechnics employ University graduates to Lecture.

The management of Polytechnics know very well that a Diploma will always remain a Diploma whether HND or PGD.

As per your Answer!!!

Zenith Bank, Stanbic IBTC, GTB, Polaris Bank, UBA, Access Bank, Eco Bank etc don't employ HND graduates as core staff, except contract, which means they basically don't have a career there.

Polytechnics can't train Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Radiographers, Medical Lab Scientists etc

Talking about scholarships! Go and check PTDF Scholarship that is run by the Nigerian Government, HND graduates are not eligible, is this not enough reason to avoid Polytechnics.
COREN won't certify HND graduates except they do PGD and Masters and acquire a minimum of 2 years working experience, whereas their BSc, BTec, BEng counterpart get certified immediately after presenting their Bachelor's Degree.

If you still can't see the advantages of BSc over HND then I don't know what to say to you grin grin grin

We have some many Bsc holders all around how many of them have gotten the benefits you listed?

What has changed in your life since you got your BSc?

Has your BSc brought great connection to your life and has that connection changed your life for the better?
Over 1,000 Nigerian BSc graduates secure fully funded scholarships abroad every year, If you know you know and if you don't so be it.

It doesn't take away my earlier position. Instead of worrying yourself about HND palaver, simply get a professional certification in your area of specialization and put your mind at rest. I have never seen any of the 'Big four' in accounting line discriminating against HND with professional certification.

Less than 5% of Nigerian graduates work in academic setting as our lecturers are still there refusing to vacate their positions since donkey years.
We are in a global world now, but you're narrowing everything to the Accounting profession, of course I know that Nigerian Accounting graduate can get ICAN certified with their HND, but tell me why I would stick to a certificate that would limit my career or global outreach?

Do you know that HND graduates can't go above level 14 in Nigerian Federal or State Civil Service?
Do you know that HND graduates are not eligible for PTDF and other Federal Government Masters Scholarships in Nigeria or Abroad?
Do you know that COREN no longer certify HND graduates as engineers?
Do you know that HND graduates are not eligible for fully funded Masters Scholarships to countries like Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Malaysia, Turkey, France, Russia, China etc?
Do you know that ACCA is affiliated with Oxford Brookes University to enable those certified by ACCA to obtain a Bachelor's Degree.

Again, why should a young Nigerian limit himself by sticking to HND certificate? Having a BSc certificate is way beyond being in Academics, you can use it to connect with the global community.

First of all, please be assured that no everyone is interested in working in academic setting(s). For the ND or HND gratudates, just get a professional certification and save yourself from all these stress. Even KPMG and other members of 'Big Four" do not discriminate against you.
Even the Polytechnics don't employ HND graduates as lecturers grin grin grin I refuse to take the back seat, I'll be rounding up my BSc program in February next year.

I'm already tracking fully funded scholarships that I can apply to because I'll be eligible very soon.

I wouldn't have been able to think of any scholarship with only HND !!!

You may have some point but it is misleading to refer to Obasanjo and Kwakwanso as examples of people with HND. Those guys had their HND when Nigeria was still good and jobs were available in abundance. Even School certificate and Modern 3 holders were working in banks and other the civil service with good pay and prospects for promotion. Things have changed now.
HND holders can still be very successful in their career, but the opportunities nowadays are different from what they used to be in the 70s and 80s.
Whether HND or BSc, one needs to work very hard, and pray for God's mercy and favour.
Your second to the last paragraph is the bone of contention here, HND graduates have very limited career options like their BSc counterparts.

HND graduates can't become Lecturers, Doctors, Radiographers, Pharmacists, Certified Engineers, etc so I wonder which career you're referring to,

Language schools > Senmmon gakko (choose an IT course) > get a job in the IT industry. Language school and Senmmon gakko should take 4 years minimum. Senmmon gakko are specialised colleges/schools for a particular industry/field.

You could still opt for a university-styled education, but I don't know if your age would be accepted for a bachelor's program. By then, you should be 32/33. Most importantly, senmmon gakko is for two years. BSc is for four years. Funding the latter is usually tougher for most foreigners without a generous scholarship. It is not easy or literally impossible to fund undergraduate studies with part-time jobs compared to graduate studies.

From my experience so far, decent/good jobs aren't the issue for foreigners, especially in the science and engineering sectors. The issue is not scholarship provided you qualify for one. The problem is not whether there are schools or not that offer your desired course. Universities have been merging because there is a decline in enrolment numbers. Some are projected to close because fewer students are applying. So, they are becoming more open/receptive to foreign students to shore up the numbers. The issue isn't a lack of part-time jobs (you cannot rely on this to fund an undergraduate program). The koko is the language. Once you know the language, Japan becomes very easy and filled with opportunities.

I don't know if there is a Japanese language school in Nigeria like we've with Korean and Chinese. There is a functioning Japanese language school in Cameroon and this has enabled many Cameroonians to come here because at N3 level, it becomes easier for language schools to admit Africans, especially older ones.

My advice: find a way to get into a language program around so that you are able to get up to N3 level. This one I am reading new students must present a certificate to prove 150 hours of language proficiency before being admitted to study for N5 level is new to me.
Yeah it's a new law, I have searched a couple of Language schools in Japan and it's stated on their sites that you must present a minimum of JPLT N5 or show evidence of at least 150 hours of Japanese Language studies before you obtain their COE 🤨🤨
TravelRe: Japanese Visa And Travelling To Japan by babakb: 11:37am On Aug 26, 2025
Gerrard59:
Then it should be a new policy as the government earlier this year revamped the requirements for operating language schools. So, that could be the reason.
Yeah, it's a new policy, your either posses a minimum of JPLT N5 certificate or show convincing evidence that you have undergone at least 150 hours of Japanese Language Lessons outside Japan.

Yes, use your NIN.

It is a surprise there are now centres outside the embassy to apply for a visa. During my time when I applied for the visa twice (both were granted), I never saw such. Everything was conducted at the embassy.

Since it is the weekend, send a reply to the same address with the direct link to the embassy and where the embassy made that announcement. This is to further prove that such an approved centre exists.

Best of wishes! Once the COE is granted, a visa is certain.
Please at what point does prospective applicants show POF?
