Travel / Re: Passengers Exchange Blows In Moving Airplane by BabaNee2(m): 1:26pm On Jan 24, 2008
@ Poster
Thanks for this. It 's quite sensible and educating.

However its quite funny, we are all sentencing the guy in the newspaper without cautioning one of us Nairalanders who flouted the rule and even flaunted it here by posting the picture!

Obedience is such a simple word that too many people pass up without an eye blink!

To you Mr Nairalander who uses his phone in the aircraft for whatever reason, i say to you, you want to be noticed, Fine, you can come down from the sycamore tree! We've noticed you in the Virgin Nigeria aircraft! You did not impress me one bit! When next u are in the plane, whether a Tampico, Beechcratf or Boeing, please, simply switch off ur Nokia Palasa!
Education / Cipm Exam Past Questions Needed by BabaNee2(m): 2:21pm On Jan 18, 2008
I am writing the INTERMEDIATE 2 CIPM exams this February. I unfortunately am not based in Lagos, hence i am not able to access the tutorials, though i have been using the revised syllabus as a guide to study.

This is therefore calling on participating Nairalanders to please help with past questions. I think it will be better, it's typed here for all to benefit. Hints are also welcomed from graduate members too.

Thank you.
Politics / Re: Can Efcc Probe Obasanjo? by BabaNee2(m): 10:54am On Nov 15, 2007
Great Almond Joy, but i still believe that the intention itself is noteworthy! I agree with you that the probe might encounter some hitches but i know that it wont be unending!!! Buildings and people could burn, but the truth will always prevail. The fact that someone with a name, not a nameless person particularly with EFCC saying this. Now it is on record, Now the truth is begging to burst loose!
For me, i am seeing a frankestein monster here-What you create now coming to haunt you!!! It is possible, u dont think so?
Politics / Can Efcc Probe Obasanjo? by BabaNee2(m): 10:01am On Nov 15, 2007
I just read in the Punch Newspaper a statement credited to The Head, General Investigations Unit, The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) Mr Umar Sanda, that the agency is ready to probe the Immediate past president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo! This came on the heel of a petition filed by the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, led by Mr. Debo Adeniran.
But the question is Can the EFCC really probe Baba?

spora:

@ Seun, all

I am of the opinion that this forum needs "sanctification" and that has to start from Seun himself. Why is it that you promote disgusting romantic topics over other? To the extent that forumites are now playing on your intelligence?. I can bet my 2 cents on it that most of these stories are concocted and because they are aware they will enjoy front page, they cook it and you buy it. Let me tell you that most of these new members are actually reincarnates. They are opening new accounts because of their sinister motive. There is therefore a need to put up a more secure measure in place to disallow multiple acounts.

The cleansing can commence by prioritisation. What is your aim of starting this forum aside profit making? Traffic? Quantity/Quality of members? Solution Provision?. I mean, this has to be defined.

Until we start promoting intelligent and value adding topics, it is just a matter of time before Nairaland turns to Amala and Gbegiri (apology to Baba Adedibu) forum.

Well said bro, i am beginning to think along this line too, God bless you!
Romance / Re: My Girlfriend's Best Friend Is A Guy And I'm Jealous! by BabaNee2(m): 12:54pm On Nov 07, 2007
In all sincerity, your friend really need to be very worried !

Most times, when the opposite sex are best of friends, they remain so because of some innate respect for each other. Most times, they could even have gone over the edge. The excuse would be the normal "mistake" everybody resort to whenever they 've committed some offence.

So your friend should simply show the lady all his sincerity and wait for her feedback in deed. If she over time disengages herself from this "best friend", then she is genuine. But if she clings to this same person with the same passion she's been exhibiting prior to the time your friend met her. Then your friend should be very careful with her. She is really into the other guy and only time would tell what will still happen bettween them.

By the way, don't we all say we want our wives to be our best friends?

Oh, i am speaking from a similar experience.
Health / Induction Into The Hall Of Fame/shame by BabaNee2(m): 3:16pm On Nov 02, 2007
Dear Nairalanders,

I feel we've had and still have a lot of individuals whoa are shaping our great country's destiny.

Men and women whose actions and inactions had one way or the other affected our daily living, politically, economically e.t.c

So, let's induct our own personalities of the YEAR 2007 into whichever Hall we think they belong-Hall of Fame, or Hall of Shame!

So nominations please!

E.g Mrs Ngozi Okonjo Iweala (H.O.F)

Religion / Re: Gospel Music Versus Secular Music by BabaNee2(m): 4:24pm On Oct 05, 2007
This is really a nice topic.

I really mjuust say that there is need to Localise this topic, If you want to look at the Nigerian musical scene, then the Gospel artiste are not faring well due to the following reasons,

Faith----I must confess to you that most gospel musicians in Nigeria do not really have personal conviction even in the faith they so proffess in thier music! Most times, one can hardly pick out one salient point in the songs. They hardly move you into the spirit. Little wonder, so little of the songs stand the test of time! Therefore, if the reason for listening to [the gospel songs is for the elevation and edification of the spirit, which i think is the ultimate, then, i am sorry to say most Nigerian gospel songs are really not there yet.

Really, it is surprising to note that inspite of the "supposed" decadence in the American society, these people sing spiritual songs and you hear it nd really get some "spiritual tug" in your spirit. Dont misunderstand me, we have few Nigerian gospel artistes who also try, but the number is so few and far between, but those ones are probably the olden days singers or the not too popular ones!

Commercialisation is also another bane of the gospel artiste in Nigeria. Even when they start out well, in thier bid to sell plenty of copies, they tend to water the message down immensely. Do you know i discovered that most times, modern day gospel artiste try to find a way round the name of Jesus, so as to make it appealing to all and sundry! The reason is simple, Infinity (arguably the biggest gospel group in the country) did a kind of song like that and are today very big! Olori Oko, the hit song with a beautiful video, takes you to task even as a believer before you get the message! Now, that is not to say the song doesn't have a message though, but it is so veiled. I am not surprisesd that nightclubs do not have any qualms identifying with the song.

Vanguard Newspaper recently reported hoe Bishop Abioye of Living Faith (WINNERS) Abuja church ordered some dance group off the church podium. The dance steps to some gospel music was simply too terrible. That explains how come the gospel music and Dance scene has degenerated. It was also rumored that "one time big" gospel group 6 team was ordered ooff the altar of some church for acts unbecoming. All this points to the shallow spiritual part of the artistes!

marketers who in most cases are sharks too simply tell gospel artistes to either spice up thier songs anyhow to make it marketable or simply ship out. Some artiste even start out as gospel artistes and later convinced by marketers that their voices can do it for them simply turn secular e.g Essence of the Kennis Music!

There is simply no mentoring in the Nigerian Gospel scene, Most aspiring choiristers and vocalists have practically no nigerian gospel artiste to look up to! Let's mention them, Sammie Okposo Samsung? Essence? Lanre Teriba Jeremiah Gyang

Then the edverse effect of the American way of life simply kills thier morale, Afterall, you can do more than the owner of a thing,

One can only hope for better days or else, it is either one make do with Mary Mary, Fred Hammond et al or simply write on's own song (Femi Kuti would not be an option)

Romance / Re: Falling In Love On Phone by BabaNee2(m): 6:33pm On Sep 18, 2007
Wao, this is inntteresting, i think i llike that question, is it about falling in love with this person, or falling in love with the voice of the pperson
BY the way, i met my current fiancee on the phone, and for a whole year, we were simply chtatting on the phone, with only pur pictures as our comfort, if you are talking about distance, then our is it, she was simply 334000 kilometers away! Now hear me, it wasnt that something is wrong with me, ttwas just that she came just at the right time, we started out as friends and voila we are there noow,
When she came home, she went to see my people, and i met hers. we are all one now, and already we are fixing our marrige!
The truth of the matter is, it is God, I am sorry if i am being spiritual abou this, but there is really nothing God cant ddo!
For those who might think that it is easy, i must confess, it isntt easy ooo at first, as a matter oof ffact, despite the fact that i am in the country, i am earning far more tan she is, yet we are on, and i lovve her lie yoou know what
So the answer to that story, is it is possible
Sports / Golden Eaglet Good Enough For The World Cup Title! by BabaNee2(m): 1:08pm On Sep 06, 2007
Few Minutes ago, Nigerian Golden Eaglets pipped the German littles 3-1 in a tension soaked match to set up a date with Spain in the Final Match,

D you think the Nigerian Golden Eaglet stands a better chance of winning the Cup for the third time on Asian Soil,

Do you also think Christantus will not only win the Golden Boot but will also get a contract with Asenal FC,

Will Yar'Adua 's golden touch also reflect in the Sporting Arena in sharp contrast to My OBJ whose destiny failed the Nigerian sports!!!

TV/Movies / Re: Gulder Ultimate Search 4 (IV) On TV by BabaNee2(m): 2:59pm On Aug 31, 2007
While i agree with that statement that this is the worst GUS ever,
I need to highlight this conspiracy theory in that show,
The way Bob Manuel seems to be pandering towards Kimber nonsense is nauseating!!!
It was as if, he is just praying for her to win,
A bob manuel that evicted Williams for picking two ropes actually left a Kimberley that forgot her map in the camp!!! And it is supposed to be a search!! How can one search for thier imaginary and fictitious golden age without a Map, What was worse was that the same Bob who caught the loud mouth without her map quickly got a way round for her by asking her ", but do you have your pebbles" which the lady qickly seized as a lifeline,
Wonderful she hit the bull's eye and even got to the finish point of the water race first but i must say that she's been helped thus far somehow by the management knowing that she is the only lady who at least could say a sentence without 100 errors,
And for the dreamers who thought she will win, Well not on your life, as the concept itself is to promote a Brand called Gulder, Need i tell you that it is a Masculine brand,
For more information see the Gulder advert which is the inspiration for the reality tv show in the first place, Is coming, My Hero,
And to Bob, i hope they replay all his gaffe to him, partcularly where he told us at home, "MEET ME AT THE TALKING DRUM!!!" Ugh, Please give Chidi Abeg, He is a natural

Romance / Re: Where And How Did You Meet Your Partner? by BabaNee2(m): 4:35pm On Aug 18, 2007
Powerful thread. Met mine on Phone (can you imagine) i have this friend who we run things together, he announced to me one day, that he met this lady through another older girlfriend in school. Of course since i am older than my friend, he naturally assumed i should speak with the lady. We didnt talk until some weeks later and that was when i was actually with another intended.
Something strange 'bout the whole thing was that we actually had a big fight the forst time we met, She actually accused me of being too egotisti bla bla bla, (whateever that nonsense is!) anyway, i didn t allow her intimidating nature daunt me in anyway. I kept on, pressed on, and today, i ve come to find the softest pat of her heart, My dear, and that is where i am resting,
Ohhh, we ve had ups and downs though, but she is really given me a beautiful life, Let me just invite you all to a small yet grand wedding, come June, I love that babe, walahi,
Romance / Do Ladies Really Respect The Bad Boys More Than The Good Ones? by BabaNee2(m): 2:13pm On Aug 14, 2007
I went on business trip to Abuja, and ended up in a childhood friend's flat! Bad enough, we were the only occupant for the night.
Though we slept on the same bed, We both had a lovely time keeping to ourselves! I woke up feeling like once again i have proven faithful, only for my friends, and i mean virtually all of 'em at work, actually coming short of calling me stupid, for not sampling the babe,
As a matter of fact, one of them told me, that by now, i am the butt of joke in the city, as a guy that has no "action". He told me he got his dutiful and beautiful (please underline baeutiful!) fiancee despite the fact that he has never allowed such opportunity to pass him by.
So, now, i am feeling terrible, Have i really messed up the opportunity?
Nope, i am not your typical "SU", I love life too, but,
Please talk,
