The last time i checked theses are the paramount rulers of the so called politically conceived ijaw people (eastern obolo and ibeno) in akwa ibom state that ijawcitizen is claiming: HRM OWONG (DR) EFFIONG BASSEY ARCHIANGA (JP) - PARAMOUNT RULER OF IBENO HRH UBONG (APOSTLE, .DR.) OWEN SYLVANUS UKAFIA - PARAMOUNT RULER OF EASTERN OBOLO. I can see ibibio names allover, even the titles are ibibio - OBONG (OWONG AND UBONG), For the records once again, THERE ARE NO IJAW INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN AKWA IBOM STATE maybe there are settlers just like any other ethnic group. Ijawcitizen leave Akwa Ibom alone, go and play your dirty ijaw politics in bayelsa and rivers state. Eastern Obolo and Ibeno people have been are always will be part of AKWA ABASI IBOM STATE. I WILL NEVER ALLOW YOU MISINFORM OTHER NIGERIANS ON THIS TRUTH. Its not about oil its about historical and family ties that have existed since time immemorial. If they(Eastern obolo and Ibeno) want a state of their own (which they never have) then we(all akwa ibomites) will discuss that and make it happen with the support of All Akwa Ibomites NOT some sinister plan by some greedy people in rivers state to annex part of akwa ibom under the guise of state creation. |
Lol.....this our ijaw ppl are really funny. All of a sudden they have woken up to start calling every community in contact with the Atlantic ocean ijaw territory.....Laughable indeed, very soon we will hear ibibio ijaw and oron-ijaw. Where were you all this while when state creation was going on? When our ppl fought for COR state I didn't hear about ijaw territory. I will advise ijaw ppl to concentrate on developing their homeland-bayelsa and stop playing archaic politics of largest ethnic group with a number of state. Akwa ibom with all its ppl with dialectical differences -ibibio, annang, oron, ibeno, obolo, efik, etc are very fine and don't need hired external saviours to swell their numbers just for politics sake. Eastern obolo and ibeno have benefited immensely from their resources. Scambling for resources is not new it even happens with clans and villages of the same ethnic group-thats politics. Putting them with "so called ijaw brothers" will never solve their problems because the politics will continue right there. |
I really don't get where this idea of ibeno and eastern and western obolo being ijaw came from. I have friends from opobo in rivers state and they bear names like "gogo" which means namesake, name sake in ibibio is "koko", their delicacies are more ibibio than any other ethnic group. Visit ibeno today and hear them speak, you will immediately know its an adulterated version of ibibio. I think all this crap started when jonathan became president, tha ijaws all of a sudden became the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria even when you meet more akwa ibom people on a daily basis in our everyday life than you meet ijaw people. Akwa ibom and cross river people know ourselves very well and we can always sort ourselves politically to everyone's satisfaction. , ibeno and obolo people have always been our cousins so we don't need any ijaw expansionist tendencies near our domain. They should go sort out themselves in bayelsa and maybe rivers state. There is no ijaw in akwa ibom. |
ujoinme: i will not be labour the issue, nigerian politicians can call their projects what ever fancy name they like i dont care as long as they build the infrastructure for the benfit of the people. names and terminology dont matter to me in Nigeria as they often do not reflect whats on ground. you are free to disagree with my view, but thats my view. and btw a lot of people including my humble self will disagree with you captioning lekki - ikoyi link bridge as a suspension bridge if we stick to proper utilization of terminology. but that dosent mean i dont appreciate the project or value it, I will call it a suspension/cable stayed/ international/ world class if thats what the lagos state govt wants it to be called. i will do same for all of gov. orjis legacy projects and likewise Akpabio's suspension bridge, Its the Nigerian way.Unfortunately the Nigerian way that you are willing to follow is very misleading and leads to miseducation. YES The lekki bridge has some sections that are supported by pillars on both ends BUT if you notice the central section is supported by CABLES attached to the tower (unless you never cared to closely look at the picture i posted), this is the part of the bridge that is in suspension QED. if you like join the politicians to call a cat a goat just because they are all animals, it is your headache. As a well educated Nigerian I will NEVER tell the world i will call things what they are not just because a politician built it and called it that PERIOD. |
ujoinme: Babatony what will you call the lekki - ikoyi link bridge? the Lagos state government calls it a suspended bridge and in my opinion there is nothing suspended about that bridge.Ujoinme, first of all YES the lekki ikoyi link bridge is a SUSPENSION bridge, as you see from the picture below, there is a tower where the suspension cables are linking the suspended section of the bridge. It is our responsibility as educated people to draw the line between politics and educate our people appropriately. We should all know "world class", "massive", "state of the art" when we see it. If the government did not know or made a mistake you shouldn't help spread or propagate that mistake or ignorance. Lets make it our responsibility to do and say the right thing at all times. The bridge is a nice well built one, quite high too no doubt about it but its not a suspension bridge for heaven sake. Kudos to the government. I have cared to post other examples of suspension bridges to educate other readers. Cheers ![]()

ujoinme: Abak - Uyo suspended bridge at Ediene Abak Under construction by julius berger to be commissioned by my president in September 2014 to mark Akwa ibom 27 yrs of state creation. stay tunned.Nice bridge but ujoinme there is absolutely nothing "suspended" about the bridge. Please do well to correct the caption. |
ujoinme: I like facts and i don't deal with rumour/heresay if you have fact post it, if all you've got is your word, i will take it with a pinch of salt and you know wyhy.Lol...facts? What facts are you talking about? That im not on ground? Or that that estate project is a failure? I don't play politics like you. I say and see things the way they are. Those so called estates are failed projects! You have enough pictures to prove that if not you would have them posted too on skyscrapercity.com. STOP PLAYING POLITICS WITH DEVELOPMENT! The world can see the progress on other projects in the state but that estate project is comatose! Oh I forgot to tell you, no more illegal parks in uyo, all transporters including aktc are now loading at the designated parks built by attah. Thank God finally someone put aside politics after seven years to do the right thing....lol |
ujoinme: Below is the reason i cannot take your word for anything thats going on in AKWA IBOM STATE. If you have recently visited akwa ibom or you now reside there prove it by posting current pictures you took while there, and then we may take your word for it.Lol...ujoinme you definitely make me laugh. My comments in 2008! Gosh. This is 2014 for Gods sake bro! Take it from me, I definitely know whats going on in that state to this very minute. Have you asked yourself why you haven't seen any recent pics from those estates? A word is enough for the wise! |
ujoinme: And how did you arrive at that conclusion? do u have any evidence to back up your allegation? The building of those houses were awarded to political associates of the governor to "settle" them. Now I am not against empowering them. What im against is the uncoordinated, unplanned and unsupervised manner this particular project was done. Massive housing like this are normally coordinated and supervised by a central body/company/unit etc but in this particular project this is missing. That estate needs plumbing, sewage treatment roads, green areas, electricity etc. As we speak today that whole site is covered with bushes while vandals are carting away what they can because nobody is responsible for the overall security of that place. The estate at eket has not even started.WHEN FOR CHRIST SAKE WILL ALL THIS PUT IN PLACE FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE INSIDE? 2014 surely is a political year, state funds will be looted for elections in 2015. This is Nigeria and we all know how things work. I have hope in other projects but this one by my judgement is dead and buried until a new government comes in. |
^^ these projects na political projects. They will NEVER be completed. ![]() |
t-something:I agree with you that the federal government is not funding our schools enough but what about AKSU owned by the akwa ibom state government?- akwa ibom is a rich state. Are you telling me that Akwa Ibom cannot build a world class university. A good architectural design doesn't mean the structure has to be expensive and complex - capital NO. Aesthetics is very important, those AKSU structures are similar to the primary schools being built by the state government. Big shame to whosoever approved such design. AKSU is a new university, structures in the universities should not I repeat should not be rushed or built anyhow just because you want to get accreditation. If the state or federal government do the right thing (proper labs, equipment, machines, lecturers, etc) accreditation should not be an issue. Take one faculty or department you can do and do it very well and not half measures. A good tertiary education holds the key to unlocking the potentials of our people, that why I feel very bad seeing those mediocre structures-I don't know how their labs, lecturers, equipment, etc look like but from the outside the schools don't stand out as Tertiary institutions. Next administration should get AKSU properly on its feet, I mean solid feet. We should do the right thing and stop make excuses for failing to take care of our future and that of our kids! |
Unfortunately this same thing is happening at the university of uyo (both campuses). You enter uniuyo and you wonder why you don't see befitting structures. Is there a law that prohibits our universities from building nice structures. The good governance tour team led by the minister of information made the same comments when they Visited the permanent site of uniuyo at nsukara. What is really the matter? No architects? Or somebody just doesn't know the right thing. |
MostIncredible.DFirst:You share my exact sentiments. Why would anyone approve such an archaic design. Are we moving forward or backwards? Are there no good architects in Akwa Ibom. Those buildings are mediocre if we want AKSU to be a world class 21st century University. Gov. Akpabio, Education commisioner, Vice Chancellor and university board take note. Akwa ibom has gone beyond this stage. |
Afam4eva: No be Akwa Ibom and Benue again? I don't believe this their ogbanje stats. And who told you those previous statistics were correct? |

jp philips: during my analysis of the PIB, one of the concerns i raised was the vessels plying the Nigerian waters but as expected nobody gave a hoot.My brother This is the very reason I say I am very worried about our press. A big politician must be involved before you hear about things like this in the nigerian press. Not even one media house(both print and electronic) reported this. SHAME |
I first saw this news on bbc, I was shocked NONE of the nigerian media carried it. It shows the kind of society we are, if it we to be some political news it would be everywhere. The Nigerian media unfortunately have failed us, they prefer yellow journalism massaged by the pockets of politicians. ![]() |
In as much as I believe the ibaka seaport will ignite more economic activities in akwa ibom I also believe that the government should create industrial clusters in selected advantaged areas and equip them properly then hand over to the management to the respective trade unions in the state. Eg. A place like ikot ekpene is known making good quality wood products especially doors and rafia. The govt will then establish an industrial zone (s) in ikot ekpene and equip it with the state of the art machining tools and provide other dedicated infrastructure like power, water etc then handover the day to day management of the place to their union there. The maintenance of the zone and upkeep of the executives wil purely come from the proceeds of the rentals of the equipment. The same could be done in the oron area with the fish industry. The palm oil industry etc. This will help people who have the skills and might not have the capital to invest in machinery to access the machinery and get their business started. skills have to be honed and harnessed for it to really benefit from the establishment of the seaport which should be made more export oriented in my opinion. |
Very very unprofessional by kate and dan. I watch talent shows done abroad and if the singing is bad and the ALL three judges INDEPENDENTLY give "3X" The microphone goes off and the lights dimmed. The contestant Is then "judged" and he or her leaves the stage. This walk out is total rude and out of place. Give the contestant some courtesy! |
rudedough: Yes Sir, I'm very much Ok. Are you?THE LORD GOD IS A MERCIFUL GOD THAT IS WHY PEOPLE LIKE YOU CAN WRITE RUBBISH AND STILL BE ALIVE. HE IS GIVING YOU TIME TO REPENT. YOU ARE NOT THE FIRST NEITHER WILL YOU BE THE LAST TO TALK LIKE THIS. BE SURE THAT THE DAY OF THE LORD IS COMING. REPENT NOW OF THIS BLASPHEMY AND SAVE YOUR SOUL FROM ETERNAL DAMNATION. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE. YOU WILL NOT GET A REPLY CONCERNING THIS WITH YOU. THIS IS MY FINAL WORD! |
Okon ikott: Ignorance is worse than witchcraft. Some on this forum who know next to nothing about the good people of Akwa Ibom nor have they ever been to Akwa Ibom are the loudest, wildest and most fallacious contributors on this forum's witchcraft story. It shows how ignorant and backward they themselves are. If the 4million Akwa Ibom people are witches, which naturally could make the state unsafe, why instead are people trooping here to live, do business or marry? If every Akwa Ibom person is a witch, why are men crazy to marry Akwa Ibom girls? If these girls are witches, then the husbands are witches too, but this is far from being the truth. The non indigenes who live in AK know there is no truth in the wild withcraft stories. They marry our girls becos of the beauty, brawn and cooking talent. Akwa Ibom foods are the best in delicacy and nuitrition becos they are mostly 99 % vegetative. Witchcraft is not a dominant thing here. I have said b4 that it is basically unemployment and poverty that cause a young man to tag his parents witches. If he had a job where he earns good pay, I bet he wont say its withcraft that gave him the job. He will thank God and live in peace with his people, but once he loses the job and cannot secure another soon, he turns round to brand someone in the family (a witch) for his joblessnessness and poor living condition. Churches too do the same to children to make money and curry more members. Its all fallacy. These are children from remote cillages who cant defend themselves. Ok, why dont we have withcraft incidents in the cities - because everybody living in the towns have something doing to earn a living. This should prove that the witchcraft stories are a village thing where poverty levels and living conditions are abysmally low, therefore the tendency to blame others for their setbacks and woes are dominant, afterall, isn't it said that the idle mind (and idle hands too) is the devil's workshop?WELL SAID! DON'T MIND THOSE "INGORAMUSES". EMPTY KETTLES MAKE THE LOUDEST NOISE. |
rudedough: Nigerians and Witchcraft / Wizard mentality. Now tell me who's the true Wizard between God and Satan.ARE YOU OK ![]() ?? |
Oh dear! See army of keke. |
I give them a B, this is because considering they just played Ethiopia on saturday in a hot country like Nigeria then travel to London in the onset of winter to play on monday and still compose themselves. There were lapses in our defence that need to be taken care of. We gave the Italians a good fight. |
olaztek: I dont believe in modern bible (the new testament). Why would they (the christians) overwrite/modify the old testament if not for the thousand of lies that d devil wants to add. I laugh whenever i see pictures of jesus plasted on the wall. That man is just an ordinary actor (not the true jesus) & yet xtians bow before him (d picture) and worships him. This is idolatry. All xtians should refer to d old testament & they will be rightly guided. No Christian overwrote anything. The new testament is God's new covenant with man since the old covenant was imperfect. The new covenant embraces everybody jew, egyptian, indian etc as long as you recognise he came down and died for your sins and you repent of them. I agree with you though on the bowing down and worship of pictures or statutes etc. COMPLETE IDOLATORY! |
Sugahbroda: There is only one GOD I know. He created the heavens and the earth. All things visible and invisible, thrones, dominions, powers etc who at the appointed time came in the flesh (SON) in fulfillment of Isaiahs prophecy to redemn man to himself. He who told the pharisees and saduccess that they will die in their sins if they don't believe that he is HE. John 8:24. In the past he introduced himself to man by different names: I AM, JEHOVAH, etc until he finally came in the flesh with a a name above every other name on earth and in heaven where every knee must bow: JESUS CHRIST! |
