farem: In the begining was the Word, Take itWord was with God and the Word was God...the Word became flesh (human) and dwelt among us... John 1:1, 14.You nailed it. JESUS CHRIST IS GOD ALMIGHTY. GBAM! Take It or die in your SINS! its not debatable. |
SeyiGold: Sharap!!! He is just a messanger of God.You foool. |
SeyiGold: Calling jesus God.Who is HE then? |
gabrielmorinho: its a good development even when hardship continue to strike its masses. The billions of naira in the state continue to circulate among the rich. Go and see akwa ibomites suffering and doing all kinds of minial jobs in crossriver state, calabar especialy. They are polluting the city with hawking, criminal acts, cultism, prostitution. Visitors who dont know will tag them bad cross rivarians. Akpabio is drunk with ego. They are everywhere doing all manner of minial jobs e.g houseboy, housegirl and the names you hear ar: ekaette, okon, akpan, emmabong etc. Akpabio, hear the cry off the poor masses!Oboy you sound like someone who has just finished a bottle of urine. If you don't hear akpan, okon etc in cross river then you must be a goat. Akwa ibom ppl RULE cross river. They make cross river tick. If you ever think akwa ibom ppl will pack and leave cross river after all the investments then you must be a joker. it like telling nigerians to pack and leave lagos. If you don't like it visit ayadehe bridge and take a dive with both your hands and legs tied. Village Foooooooool. |
Israelmossaic: I believe we are getting it all wrong. It may not be all about finger print. The pin. Could follow. What if the person goes with ur finger and doesn't have ur pin? So let's be optimistic, it may be one of those international best practicesThe only reasonable comment. Other ppl are just rushing to make silly comments without reasoning. |
pappilo: I remember Dede Mabiaku being genuinely angry at one calabar boy that came on stage clad only in white pants to perform a Fela song on Nigeria X Factor or one those type shows.Dat judge is such an arrogant and ignorant fool. Very unprofessional, where they f....ck did they get him from? Intimidating that boy like that.FELA SURELY WORE UNDERWEARS ON STAGE! |
Rubbish. Alscon is the most inconsistent company i have come across. Today is we have excess electricity, tmrw will be we dont have gas, the next day, we are under producing, the next day, alscon is not a failure. I don't know exactly is feeling the impact of that company. They should hand over that place to the americans to manage abeg ![]() |
agbameta: And you people get mad when I posted pictures of your village waterworks and development. Good to see you moving away from the few shiny roads and finally getting back to reality with all the development.Eko ole aka agbameta, I know you are dumbfounded by these pictures. Yes those water works are made sure they exist in every village, hamlet and what have you. At least there will be no dysentery, cholera etc. any longer. The big towns and cities uyo, ikot ekpene, eket, abak, ikot abasi etc are taken care of by more robust systems with large overhead reservoirs like the shown in one of the pictures because of the demand. People in these places get water from waterboard. Im not sure this is the case in your native osun where cholera, dysentery is wiping out the impoverished, miserable and traumatised villagers. ![]() |
Dreamer, who told you akpabio did not compensate and demolish houses. Silly thread anyway. |
ujoinme: Why dont you post some pictures of the good or bad that you see in the state rather than you usual bickering? the title of the thread is uyo...... in pictures, rather than gripe it would suffice you to post some pics tooI am presently not in aks now. When I visit I promise to furnish you pictures of only the good, I will keep the bad and ugly away because of the topic. Akwa ibom is a very blessed state with every potential to explode economically. We all, including you and me have to make sure this happens. As far far as you are in the world bickering must exist, you cant wiah it away. It is rather how you handle these bickerings is what makes the difference. Not when it comes you brand ppl anti-this or that. Deal with the issues because we all want the best for the state. Just by the way, why post those students with desks on their heads while the topic is uyo- city of peace and beauty . Kindly take it off. |
ujoinme: Thats an old picture, everyone in AKS knows that the reason you need to take your desk home is if the class room has no door and windows to avoid theft,My brother, stop trying to defend the indefensible. I schooled at Holy family college, abak not quite far from where that picture was taken. One could see the abak prisons fence behind there. I too used to carry desks on my head but not to my house but to the assembly hall where it will kept under lock and key till the beginning of the next term. That desk was provided by my parents not govt. I am saying Govt should provide desks for students for Gods sake. is it too much to ask? I left hfc for fgc ik, there fg provided desks. I didn't have to bring my desk from home! See the difference? There the desks were conjoined making it difficult for anyone to steal. Why would anyone want another man kid (because you said yours won't) carry desks across roads at the end of every term. We have to progress as a society and hold whosoever is holding office-president, minister, governor, commissioner, principal, class teacher, etc accountable. |
ujoinme: ^^ dude what's your problem? Are you a self hating Akwa Ibom indigene? This attitude of yours will never get things better both in akwa ibom and Nigeria at large. What do you mean by self hate? I will continue to hate every bad thing in our society and praise to high heavens when things are done correctly. That is difference between sycophancy and constructive criticism. What l am pointing out is not peculiar to akwa ibom its even worse in other states but akwa ibom is my home, I need things to get better thats why I point them out for govt and all of us to take correction. PERIOD! |
ujoinme: Do you guys remember those days at the beginning and end of school term when you had to do what these cute school girls from Aks are doing? lol See their initials carved onto the desk? nice picThe only thing nice about this picture is that brings back memories. I am very saddened that this picture is recent. It should be some old possibly black and white picture dated earlier than 1999.. Showing that students still have to provide sitting desks in classrooms which they ferry on their heads at the beginning and end of term in 2013 is very annoying . Yet govt is talking about free and compulsory education. Are we going forward, backwards or not moving at all. Govt has to be more responsible. If govt cannot provide desks, chalkboards, etc. I wonder what its providing. Something to think about. |
Rossikk: Unduly cynical in my view. A lot of those factors where they exist, are surmountable. For an investor, it often involves skillfully relating to power and officialdom to gain the best possible advantage for your firm - the better you are at it, the more successful you'll be.Rossikk, you can't blame me for being cynical. These people because of oil money have REFUSED to use their heads. Drive from the airport in okobo to ikono/ini you will not see any large scale farming going on.NONE. why is the govt not bothered? Agreed the govt has built roads to most hinterlands and the cities but remember these roads should be an end to a means and NOT the end itself. You hear the gov boasting that he gave women 250k each to go into agriculture but he never comes back to tell us and show us the agric farms these women invested in. I have seen with my two eyes tractors bought by govt(I cant remember whose tenure) lie at the state secretariat and rot then later disappered. Do you think there are no farmers in the state to lend those tractors for use even if its at zero cost just to encourage the farmers? Believe you me these ppl are not interested because it requires thinking. If oil dries up tmrw is this what they would be doing? Any investor pally around them is just for the season. Our 10th anniversary hotel on udoma avenue is still lying waste. The investor was more interested in making money from govt rather than the business. the govt should be savvy and ensure businesses are established and encouraged to succeed. They collect tax afterall. The present govt has consolidated on infrastructure but the economic intelligence, planning and mobilization is TOTALLY ABSENT that why despite all these people are still jobless with complaints here and there. It takes brains to achieve this not billions of naira. Govt should stop surrounding themselves with touts and praise singers who have nothing to offer the state but rather assemble economic think tanks (not IMF ) who can look at the state and provide short, medium and long term practical solutions for total economic emancipation of that great state. |
Rossikk: Why do we keep looking for govt to do these things? What stops a private developer from going to that beach and buying some land to build a resort there? Nothing! There's no way you're gonna tell me a serious investor cannot pay off those poor folks for some of their land. And once he builds a resort, (perhaps an all-inclusive resort with private beach) others will see he's making profit, and then develop theirs as well. Before you know it, the beach is filled with resorts, hotels, eateries, clubs, water parks etc and becomes a haven for tourists!Sorry to disappoint. They will not. In akwa ibom the rich ppl who should ordinarily do that are politicians. Unfortunately they don't think that way (the investment way). They believe they will forever be politicians and the govt money will flow steadily. Any business man who ventures it will be confronted with ridiculous terms to share the proceeds of the business of which if they refuse the business goes down. Sad indeed. |
BabaTony: Very good question. What about the 4 motor parks at itam, mbiabong, aka road and abak road. The govt is dealing with the issue of illegal motor parks with kid gloves. The abbatoir and timber markets at itam are also left to rot! The govt has to wake up and make sure older infrastructure not built by them do not rot. Some hospitals in the state fall in this category too. When i pass through this places i feel like weeping. Govt is a continuum. If not whatever they are building today will suffer the same fate. A word is enough for the wise.Nobody has answered these my all important questions |
torkaka: the last I checked, jona has been the one begging since sundayWhat jona is doing is just what any sensible politician will do first -dialog, negotiate, reconcile and remember it has a threshold where he wouldnt give a damn again. This is politics. You are talking about begging- I don't know about that unless you don't know how to use words correctly. |
torkaka: LET JONATHAN LEAVE PDP FOR ANOTHER PARTY AND TEST HIS OWN POPULARITY!!No.oooo. They are the ones unhappy with tukur. They staged a walk out so they should continue the walk and form their new party. If you dont like they way the driver is driving a car, is it not to come down from the car and board another one.. Why wrestle the streering wheel with the driver while the car is moving? Unless the intention is to crash the car(party). This applies to ALL political parties in Nigeria. |
These Foooooooools should leave the pdp if they are unhappy with it. Why go form pdp2. They better go form another party and test their popularity at the polls. SIMPLE! Or go join apc if they will take them instead of all this disturbance! If they are credible enough leave the pdp and form their party. IDIOTSSSS! |
Bidam: Just hold onto whatever will make you happy bro..as far as you re serving the Lord ..no wahalaI will sir ![]() |
Bidam: Reason why believers should pray in an unknown tongue. |
People should stop all these self deceipt called speaking in tongues. Ppl speak gibberish deceiving themselves and others who want to be deceived that they are filled with the Holy spirit yet their character leaves a lot to be desired. Why is nobody interpreting tongues? Why? As far as I am concerned the tongues spoken on the day of pentecost were earthly languages meant to help propagate the Gospel.PERIOD. and it acheived that goal. Pastors are really using it to deceive ppl.its a pity! |
Dr Muzungu: The End is near! And it ended up DEAD! ![]() |
customized13: d truth is better, an AVERAGE uyo indigene local abeg. I wz hyping uyo sef b4 I came based on wot I see online. Dey stil hv a lot 2 achieve b4 dey meet up wt oda nigerian major cities lyk calabar, enugu, lagos, ibadan, kano, kaduna, port harcourt. I hv been 2 calabar, ibadan, enugu, ph, I grew up in lagos, uyo hasn't gotten 2 dat status abeg. If u ask 1 of d fastest developing, I wil pick uyo, bt 1 of d most developed? NOHi, sorry if I may come in and ask what do u mean by an average uyo indigene? Uyo is a city with residents from all over Nigeria including you. So does it mean you are local? I lived in ph for 7 yrs and if its local we are talking about then ph carries the crown. |

t-something:Thanks for the clarification. I didn't like the look of that place especially from the outside. The front fence was overgrown with weeds. Without being told one won't know a cinema has been running there for close to a year! The govt in the interim should cut the grasses and make the place more decent. |
ujoinme: ^^^ Its still under construction.I know my brother. Im just asking because I know the cineplex is in use and wonder why the rush if they weren't ready to give the place a good look. |
ujoinme: tropicana nearing completion.@Ujoinme, Do you know any reason why this tropicana complex has not been landscaped? At least the cineplex in use now should be well lanscaped to make the complex attractive. Right now its not. Grass has overgrown the fence and complex. |
Oh Africans. The difference is this. A white man will NEVER adopt hook line and sinker anything he has an alternative to but the black man will jettison what he has immediately he sees an alternative whether that thing is worse than his or not. I do not see how a suit and tie has all of a sudden become better than our traditional attires. All we have to do is to customise our attires to fit whatever job type we need to do. We need to protect thw cultural diversity and our economy. Ghandi in the 50s could not understand why their indigenous silk clothes were made in england while his fellow indians were dying of hunger because of lack if jobs. He called for a boycott if all english made clothes in india and everybody obeyed (impossible in Africa). The result was a drastic shutting down of those british factories due to losses. A whole Britain BEGGED Ghandi to come visit england to see the effect of the boycott in india. He went and told them that the number of his people back in india suffering is more than the few people suffering in england due to the boycott. India got indepedence 1 year later. Africans need to put on their thinking caps and come up with home grown solutions to our problems and not this MENTAL COLONIAL SLAVERY spewing all over Nairaland. |
Chidi lloyd...hahahaha, why all this acting? No limping can save you. |

I thought there are 109 senators. There are about thirty something on that list. How did this bill pass? ![]() |
