Akpabio, you are the man! A true Akwa ibom man, You have sent these good for nothing APC goons hypertensive with your projects in Akwa Ibom, each time they see your projects hypertension sets in because it was not what they expected. They didn’t get to see this one coming. Now they are all over Nairaland running from pillar to post resorting to abuse and empty rants when FACTS are there for all to see. When Oil money was used to build them National Stadium in surulere they were all in ecstatic mood, they even went ahead to even build another one just opposite it (does this even makes sense?), then it was money well spent, when oil money was used in building Third mainland Bridge when the traffic at the time did not necessitate such project, they were all over telling Africa that it was the longest bridge in Africa, when oil money was used to build the Nation’s financial district at Marina, all was well, the likes of Bimbo did not write in their columns. A whole town called FESTAC was built and handed over to them in the name of Black cultural festival that we are yet to see the benefits yet they quietly sneaked it under their armpits, Nigeria spent oil money building a national theater then there was no crying and weeping and gnashing of teeth saying that makoko is still a slum next door. Nigeria spent billions building 1004 estates and eric moore towers, when at that point, Ajengunle was still bubbling with slums, gangsters, criminals, homeless folks, etc. yet these foooools didn’t complain. Lets not even go to other states because we all familiar with the story here on Nairaland. These people have governors, WHAT HAVE THEY DONE? We are yet to see. I was born to hear that Ibadan was an ancient town, yet Ibadan is still an Ancient Town! And yet these people have governors!

Akwa ibom created just yesterday in 1987 is building its own infrastructure from scratch because before now Nigeria never cared if we existed despite providing the country with its wealth and peeps are here running helter skelter questioning every move-SAD but we don’t care the Movement is on. This is the very reason Nigeria will never make headway because we have a lot of people with PHDs- Pull Him Down syndrome. They always think good things should only and always happen to them, when it happens to the neighbor ENVY, JEALOUSY, MALICE etc all pop up! How can someone in his right senses see that beautiful stadium and not call it a National treasure that should be cherished and projected to the world to see that well-built stuff can be built here in Africa. Akwa ibom is on the right track all other things will fall in place at the appointed time. Those who knew the state before 1999 can attest to this but that’s story for another day. The NEST OF CHAMPIONS will surely see better days .This stadium launch has really put some other governors on the dock that why we are seeing all sorts of write ups, columnist, editorials jumping up. This is Politics seasons so I expect more but the people know the truth and will go for it any time!
N.B. – for those who never appreciate good things, more breathe taking commissionings are coming up, so please inform your doctors to be around you that day as you watch it because heart attack can show up anytime.

Tell them. U know this Akwa ibom people were slaves to the efik speaking people. So, that uncivilized mentality is still in them.
How can you compare a glorified stadium with a classic sports complex which has a football stadium sitting capacity of 40,000 capacity?

Na WA for this house boys and house girls ooooo.

while akpabio is busy pursuing NFF, NSC, and GEJ to bring all Nigerian football matches to uyo which is out of greed and pride, amaechi is calm doing his thing as a matured man with balls between his legs.

Akpabio is doing all this because of cross river. He is not happy that national matches are played in calabar. Tomorrow akwa ibom will say cross river is their brother. There is God ooooo.
An Efik man will always be a Fooool any time anyday, a good for nothing lazy ogogoro low life. What has an Efik man ever achieved in his life?-absolutely nothing. Calabar today was and is still being built and sustained by akwa ibom people. The calabar stadium was built by and named UJ Esuene from akwa ibom, so what are we talking about here.you are so angry that akwa ibom as a state has come of age and outclassed your state. You better crawl back into your hole or Continue hating..all I know it hasn't helped you so far, this na small, other commissionings are on the way, get ready to commit suicide...LOL...AKWA IBOM AYAYA ETITI ETI.....You can go and die (in oshiomole's voice)
PoliticsRe: Akpabio VS Amaechi Stadium; Let's Compare. by BabaTony:
gabrielmorinho:
Do you reason at all?
The scenario between these stadia is far different from that of Stamford Bridge and allianz arena. The cost of both stadia is N31billion and N39billion respectively, though, that of PH cost less but encompasses other sports facilities apart from football and race track. ph has a Complete sports complex while that of uyo is just and only a football stadium. Akwa Ibom stadium could cost lower. But the contractors charge high as they are generally known.

Let's stop this stadium hype of a thing in Nigeria. Abuja stadium still remains the best given the required maintenance. Uyo is just half of abj and akwa ibomites will not let Nigerians rest. Remember other states will do better tomorrow. National stadium is still no. 1.

Given the amount Akwa ibom is receiving from the federation to kwankwaso, adams oshiomole, rochas okorocha, and others, they will do better. The resources are available so spending shouldn't be a problem. Respect to portharcourt. Uyo will be no where near in 100 years. Hahahaha haha. Pls, before you crucify me, am not from any of the aforementioned States above. Just a neutral man
Why do I smell jealousy and hate all over this post, hw can you compare this world class stadium with that ram shakle structure built by amaechi. What you have seen so far is just phase 1 and you dey vex like this. What will happen when the phase 2 will be complete--suicide? LOL...This stadium is one of the best in Africa, Category 4! Fifa said so. Ameachi can build his sports complex and use for APC rallies no problem...lol

Bros pls STOP taking wateva u re taking....it ll stop u from hallucinating. Its a well known fact that the IJAWS re the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria.
Akwa Ibom people migrate to live in several states does not make them fourth largest.
the ijaws are part owners and indigenous to FOUR STATES in Nigeria namely Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta and Ondo states. U ll find ijaws in all these states and off course I cant count the number of other states ijaws have migrated to in oder to work, school and trade like your Akwa ibom people so please dont confuse issues.
If the ijaws re settled in one location they would be competing with the ibos in terms of Population because the Ibos have only Five states altogether.
Its you that needs to stop smoking that stuff. This issue has been dealt with severally on nairaland and Nigerians know the truth. Apart from Bayelsa state what is the real percentage of ijaws in the other states you mentioned?that is one, then what is the population of bayelsa state? By the what advantage in life will fourth largest ethnic group fetch you?

Just as you have other large ethnic groups in every nook and crany of Nigeria so do we also have the 4th largest ethnic group everywhere so cool down its normal. Don't join haters in trying to put a good and blessed people down. Don't you see Americans or Europeans in other countries? lionelayo: Unfortunately akwa ibom state gets the highest allocation but the people are poor in mind and the government is yet to develop agriculture and education which is the bedrock of the future and people of the state, their internally generated revenue is almost zero if oil stops coming today they are doomed this is a state that gets over. 33billon as allocation monthly states like lagos gets only about 9billion (IGR is over 23billion) ,
The governor of akwa ibom pays media heavily to make his image look Good other states like kogi gets just 10%(3billion) of what he (akwa ibom) earns and generates internally over 800million monthly so unfortunate they akwa ibom earn so much but is so poor in development of projects that has direct impact on the lives of the ordinary man on the street!
I reaĺlly hate when people like this with very low IQ comparable to that of an slowpoke write like this. What do you mean by "akwa ibom people are poor in mind"?. If you want to abuse akpabio you can do that for all I care but immediately you cross that boundary to use the opportunity to expose your ethnic bigotry to the well articulate and very smart, humble, humane, intelligent and hardworking akwa ibomite you are in for trouble. gabrielmorinho: Some of this calabar slaves who refer to themselves as akwa ibom are ridiculous.
Gone are those days when people count bridges and roads as the only indeces of a city.

Uyo is small with scanty settlements around. The prestige is not there, Uyo has no centre of attractions like PH and calabar; especially the calabar festival.
PH is a home for wealth, high class business activities. PH has the third best sky view in the country. Check out its sky scrappers.
UYO IS NOWHERE NEAR.

I think akwa ibom is just trying to gain recognition.
Building roads and bridges is BT enough. Not even the controversial stadium.
Eg, calabar has nothing to do with bridges and flyovers but has international recognition than uyo.

Geographically, uyo is "too small" compared to the garden City and the nations paradise.
Fishes should stop swimming with sharks.

U can't reasonably compare uyo with bonny island when it comes to beauty, power supply, cost of living etc.

UYO AND PH ARE INCOMPARABLE.
OP GET UR FACTS RIGHT.
MAKE GOOGLE UR FRIEND.
You must be a big fooool to write the rubbish you just wrote above. You must be on some very poorly made weed from diobu.

Atouke: Ring Road 3 in Uyo Wears New Look as State Govt. Installs Solar Street Lights.

Ring road three traverses Idoro and Aka Etinan, Mbierebe roads are wearing new looks following massive work going on there. The road is adorned with solar powered street lights and proper markings for easy flow of traffic. The first noticeable development on the ring road three is the solar powered street light being installed to illuminate both sides of the express way at night. Various components of the street light were being assembled at each point they were mounted. Some of the major components included the poles, battery boxes, bulbs and solar panels. One of the Engineers, Mr. Daniel Akpan said the installations were done through of the State Ministry and covered the entire stage of ring road three. Speaking on the choice of the solar powered street light by government, another engineer, Mr. Victor Gabriel explained that the lighting facilities were special devices which power itself with all the major components at the topmost part of the poles. According to Engineer Gabriel, Government decided to go for the devices in other to check vandalism. Also have been painted with white and black colour while other set of experts were inserting road traffic signs and road markings to demarcate the lanes and further ensure the safety of road users. Residents and those doing business in the area expressed happiness at the development which they said will boost business activities. All these are parts of efforts by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Sir (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio (CON) JP, to make the State a destination of choice.
Atouke, nice road but from the road contract signed it was supposed to stretch from idoro road to oron road. Do you have an idea whether it got there? The last time I went through it stopped at aka road.

jazzydee: don't believe what you hear always, you know there is a lot of politics of succession of the present gov. going on, politicians will say and sponsor people to say anything to rubbish the governor. A lot is going on in the school. there are several buildings big ones at various levels of construction and the school is also presently embarking on its medical school/teaching hospital development at the main campus.

The Structures on grounds is adequate for now but the state is expanding the facilities at the university to meet future growth of the university.
my comments are not based on any politics, i based my comments purely on the pictures i have seen here and the ones i have seen in the past. If you have pictures of the upcoming structures just post them, lets see the other side of the story.
EducationRe: Akwa Ibom State University In Pictures. by BabaTony: 2:06pm On Aug 23, 2014
jazzydee: have you visited the campus before? you should. most of those big and inspiring structures you are expecting are at various stages of construction within the two campuses. They were not the priority because they take time to build, If you visit the school you will see various storey buildings whose construction are ongoing and when complete will change the look of the campus.

The structures on ground are adequate for the current number of students to carryout their academic activities unencumbered and secure accreditation so they can graduate students next year.
hmm i honestly wish there are better structures coming up at least to take away this shame, i have not been there before but with what we have here, its really bad.

Stop talking rubbish, the people in akwa ibom who are directly affected (eastern obolo and ibeno) have come out themselves to say they are not interested in any state creation so where is the desperation from akwa ibom coming from. The real desperados and land grabbers are the ijaw people in rivers state that want a state but want to annex other people's land without their consent in order to get it. ITS DEAD ON ARRIVAL. The same way the agitators of aba state will want to grab essien udim to form part of their state. If ijaw people in rivers want oil rivers then fine, they can go ahead and demand for it but they should never ever think they will take one inch of land from akwa ibom.PERIOD! The most annoying thing in this matter is the effrontery the have by including people they have never consulted with. Its ok. Their hope is built on Jonathan presidency. ..LOL, very foolishh. Even if it were during the military regime, it would still be dead on arrival because you cannot force people who are not interested in state creation (in this case eastern obolo and ibeno) to form a state. Name me one state in Nigeria that was created by the millitary without their consent. There is none. So quit dreaming with ijaw people about oil rivers state with akwa ibom land Mr Desperado. THERE ARE NO IJAW PEOPLE IN AKWA IBOM, EASTERN OBOLO AND IBENO HAVE NEVER BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE IJAW PEOPLE. This fact has been overflogged here so ijaw people should take note.
