This is what development in infrastructure is about. This roads can only be compared to Abuja roads..simple.

But the gov is not meeting up on the areas of human capital development, health, education. An average Ibom man is still very poor and living below 20 dollars per day. An average Ibom man is still my gateman, an average Ibom girl is still my cook.

All in all Akpabio has done well above average ..I score him 55%. The next governor will take up the touch where he stopped in 2015.

I saw all these roads under construction and know what I wrote about. Only Rivers State is using sharp sand and casting with concrete before tarring. Others just use laterite with hardcore and stonedust.

Abagworo: How did you come about the poor quality part? You cannot ascertain that by merely viewing it on TV. IMHO the quality of the roads are not up to standard or at least my desired standard like in Rivers State. Its more like Akwa-Ibom with normal drainage and laterite, hardcore,stonedust, tar. In Rivers 8feet of surface soil is dug out and refilled with "white sharp sand" before hardcore, stonedust and tarring. Laterite is prohibited in road construction as far as Rivers State is concerned. However the roads will last because of good but funny drainage. In terms of aesthetics, they are up to standard.

Akwa Ibom's budget is N460 billion with just 2 million people while Ekiti and Osum state's combined N276. That's N184 billion more than both state's and there is nothing much going on on Akwa Ibom but 2 or 4 major roads and flyover bridge.


Rivers boasts the largest budget in Nigeria N490 billion with just 5 million people and nothing Major to show for their huge budgets year after year.


So use your head and come up with reasonable and rational comparisons next time.

For me I flew this airport november last year and believe you me I was not impressed at all going by all the noise that was made. From the waiting lounge one could perceive the strentch from the toilets, im serious about this. It had no WOW effect on me. For ppl to say its very good now I cant imagine what it looked like before. To me its just there nothing futuristic. It just serves the purpose now.

ITbomb: Ibaka port is a white elephant project used by the govt to siphon fund through collaboration with Bilfiger Berger and FG has repeatedly refuse to be involved in it.
The development of Calabar port is a welcome development.

The dredging of the calabar port that has always been dredged since i was born but has refused to perform due to its location on the sand depositing side of the river is a welcome development, abi?but the ibaka port that requires NO DREDGING that aks is developing so that It can do what the calabar port has FAILED to do overthe years is what people like you is calling a white elephant project. Im sorry for you.what is making you gittery about ibaka. The aks govt has just provided land and logistics for planning and inviting the FG and private sector to build. The FG had approved the port and has also set up an implementation committee for actualization of that port. Ibaka port will soon be up and running. I rather think this frequent dredging of the calabar port is the real elephant project that has provided no results over the years.

Why put an ugly flyover in a relatively sparsely populated state when modern urban planning method avoid building them as much as possible.the lack of priorities is also visible from the number of cars on or around the bridge
