Akinfrank:Congratulations, this is one of the reasons I'm never quick to take my car to an electrician, many automotive electricians we have here even refuse to touch Hyundai cars, their reason being the cars do not forgive wrong electrical moves, and this is true. A very rugged car if you have the V6, not long ago I started mine up and it started struggling to idle properly, I could see the rpm needle moving just a little up and down, exhaust sounded weird, what could this be? Sharply, I connected my small scanner, got MAF code, and ocv code, ocv? Surprised, well, I bought carb cleaner (2000 naira), took off the air intake hose, got to the throttle body (dirty) and had a friend step on the pedal inside the car so it opens up, I sprayed it really good. Started up the car and checked the scanner, and all the codes disappeared, prior to my spraying the throttle body, I left the car to do a throttle relearn, this took 10mins of idling, and the rpm found its sweet spot (1000rpm after cold start) even as the exhaust sound wasn't 100, always start small with vehicle problems, especially when it is an older Hyundai you're sure has been well maintained. |
Meklex:If fan "pressure" was low how did connecting the fan directly temporarily fixed your issue? If you don't have a stuck thermostat and your fan was spinning, then a proper examination is needed, take it to a mechanic, your fan has been connected directly and your car will not reach optimum operating temperature quickly or at all, especially if you don't always drive with the AC or you do lots of highway driving. |
The allied health professionals should do the same, 150,000 for a physiotherapist or pharmacist is terrible, poor pay across every department for these folks. If a strike action Is what the government understands then so be it, the citizens who suffer these strikes will eventually take to the streets to amplify the pains of these professionals. Akpabio cannot be there In the senate making no contributions of any sort to the country and earning millions, not to mention the several other millions that come from embezzling public funds, this cannot be happening when the people making sure the population of Nigeria does not go back to near zero continue to struggle to afford balanced diet and a comfortable living space. |
Alfred200825:You can also decide to Eat that meal of plain veggies with love and ALONE, this is life man, you can't be too prepared, with that income they'll not have no savings, have to deal with little debts, not eat good, live good. If they decide to have a kid, what happens when that kid falls sick and they need 40,000 urgently? Have you checked what it costs now to be pregnant and have a baby? what happens when the mother cannot express much and the baby needs to be on formula for a few months 😂 The other day I saw on Tiktok how a lady whose baby couldn't take cow milk based formula because the baby was allergic to it, only goat milk based formula was okay for that baby, she was on there on Tiktok begging for help and showing videos of the baby, anyone could tell that baby wasn't eating good, goat milk based formulas are more expensive, people don't pray for these things but they still happen, the only way is to not do anything just because you have the minimum or because you believe in miracles or that "things will work out" things don't just work out because you need them to. |
Kobojunkie:Everybody Sabi as e dey go na |
SpencerForbes:While I am not saying that, to answer your question, having millions can make a big difference. Now back to the topic, 100k income is definitely not enough for one man, not to mention a couple, say the woman brings in another 100k and decides to fully support the man, then they have 200k. They'll need to wear clothes to work every working day (say they're not business owners who sometimes go to work 7 days a week), they'll need clothes and shoes, shoes only if they're police officers or nurses who wear a uniform, transport fare back and forth, if the workplace isn't at the back of their house 😂, subtract the cost of all of that from the income. A 100k salary doesn't mean 100k spendable money, going to work costs money, Only very few jobs pay 100k and up in rural areas where rent is cheap, they'll live in the city, if not Lagos, at least any of the state capitals, that means high rent, say they want to live like rats and be miserable, they'll want to rent a room self contained, they must forget any purchase of home appliances like AC, refrigerator, washing machine and even couch. Now let's assume they're both slow and decide to have a kid in such a financial state, then they'd have each gone into covenant with the demon of poverty and lifelong struggles, if such a couple do not try to at least triple that income, they'll not eat good or look good, won't enjoy life a tiny bit and most likely owe one or two food vendors in the streets, there is no way this income will work for them. |
SpencerForbes:You antagonise yourself, everything cannot and will not be in place with a 100k family income. |
AfDapone:Must feel like a bicycle |
AfDapone:Horsepower is what gives you speed, it is a measure of the value of torque multiplied by the engine rpm (engine speed), speed is a measure of horsepower and horsepower is what happens when torque and engine speed are combined. That is why a corolla Uber could be screaming so loudly at 140km/HR and have to rev at 2000+ rpm to reach and maintain this speed, while the Highlander could be making close to no sound at the same 2000rpm and moving at 180km/HR, the corolla Uber's engine is near its best performance and begging for mercy, while the Highlander is yet to begin actual work, and of course bigger engine in the Highlander means more supply of air and fuel, which also translates to more power, that is what HP is about. I have made this explanation without mentioning transmission because that is not so important as far as corolla Uber and V6 highlander are examples i used, would be different if it was a Toyota highlander V6 and an Hyundai santa fe V6. |
Bimmarlykay:All valid points, say our mechanics encourage people on diesels, it'll still never be popular on our roads, most Nigerians are poor, how many Nigerians do fill up at gas stations even as they use petrol cars? People just dey manage, if small hold up catch people for route wey hold up no dey dey na people wey no go reach house go plenty pass. The resale value our people are obsessed about will never let them get close, I always wonder why the next thing anyone could be about is how to sell a vehicle when at the point of purchase 😂. Let us forget about parts and maintenance, shey Nigerians fit afford diesels? People wey dey run from ordinary V6 petrol cars. |
AfDapone:You can never see anyone accelerating and leaning forward, that is torque, torque is what you use to move when you're climbing hills. Horsepower is your Torque multiplied by engine rpm, corolla Uber could be outputting 105hp at 2000rpm while a V6 highlander could be outputting 200hp at 2000rpm, na why Corolla Uber guy go hear fiam, hp pass hp. |
All recycled former office holders, Nigeria working for only a handful |
Going by the things you have said, I believe you have no serious issues, no reason to be scared, oil expands with increasing temperature and that can increase volume a bit, if the reading is more than the max level when hot, leave for a few minutes and then recheck, the most accurate reading on the dipstick is when the engine is cold and has been sitting for a while. If at the normal level when cold then do not care about the reading when hot, don't even bother checking when it is hot, do not forget to change the oil to what is recommended, the drained oil can give hints about the internals, congratulations on your ride, enjoy the power of V6, no too oppress them corolla Uber people for road ☹️ |
Parser:Does the engine look okay when you open the oil cap, no sludge? Revving and oil light coming up could be pointing to inadequate lubrication caused by sludge. Change to the recommended oil and see what happens, I am certain recommended oil isn't 20W50. If the car isn't smoking and drives well, then the damage is probably not done yet, if you can find a mechanic with a scope, have him look at your insides. |
Druidboy:If you're performing a drain and refill, find the hardex trans fluid with sp3 rating. |
The same thing is what is happening in the Nigerian political space, Nigerians seem to enjoy abuse and being trampled upon. |
If the degree you have now is science related, then you're a poor student academically, UTME has been watered down over the years, a graduate in any science degree should ne able to score over 300 by just refreshing his brains with the textbooks and any of these apps that treat past questions, i have done this and it took me only two weeks of looking at these elementary concepts. |
Everything given can be withdrawn, especially a piece of paper that grants you citizenship or access to "permanently" stay, all it takes is a new leader or a party willing to do so. Nigeria is bad, Africa isn't where it should be, many want to just leave and never return, but home remains home no matter what lies we tell ourselves. It is okay to go where earnings are up and there are some opportunities, but then it becomes selfish and unpatriotic to not look back, to not have it in mind to come back to try to change things, if not for those here now, at least for generations unborn, a thriving Africa, a prosperous Nigeria means struggles and reality check for those who benefit from our troubles, we should soar and be up, where we belong. Our learned folks and even the unlearned must remain African at heart wherever they are, an African will never be more European than a European or an American, you cannot cut ties from your roots, it is written all over every fiber of your being, our education is meaningless if we detest our roots and we only work towards running off to places that work, we must see the games, the problems, and contribute our parts, one day people might also be dressed in our native attires to celebrate their attainment of Nigerian citizenship. |
mascot87:Many of these terrible leaders are like that, I do not believe a thing they say, this is most probably the senator attempting to gain cheap popularity, play with the emotions of Nigerians, workings of another term, another office. All of these leaders have to go, what Nigeria needs isn't recycling the same leaders every election year and expecting different results, all of them from PDP, APC, ADC are birds of a feather, all criminals and pests of the state. A lot needs to happen for Nigeria to work for Nigerians, and this i do not think is possible with the current political structure, maybe one day Nigeria will work, but that day isn't coming soon, not when those who have been on the political stage since the begining of the Nigerian state's decline are still forming new coalitions promising change, or even still in positions where their endorsement of another politician still carries weight, We need to wake up, it pains me seeing how many Nigerians live, life shouldn't be like this. |
![]() mascot87:Has nothing to do with south or north, tribe or religion, everyone bleeds the same should one be unfortunate enough to encounter a terrorist, are you happy as many as ten policemen are securing a public office holder, his kids and family members? Even distant cousins? You're happy how an emergency line to call for help doesn't exist in Nigeria? And how the armed forces, especially the police respond to cases of terrorism and armed robbery after the deed has been done because they have no fuel in their trucks? Let the streets be secure, and there'll not be a need for a convoy that is not done covering 100 metres in 10 minutes, all lives are equal, you cannot hide behind armoured vehicles bought and fueled by the state, manned by special security forces whose salaries are also paid the state, while you have an unfettered access to the states treasury to fill your own coffers and cannot relate with the experiences of the common man, the taxpayer, his sweat shielding you from his everyday woes. |
Mitsurugi:Exactly, Nepotism, abuse of human rights, embezzlement of public funds, ill-gotten wealth, are all celebrated by many Nigerians, it is God working in mysterious ways when it favours them, they pray for their turn to further destroy the country, eat it bare, the actual problem is that many Nigerians are no different from the terrible leaders they have. |
Freshtruth:You're making a lot of sense, so these police officers attached to VIPs whose salaries are paid by taxpayers are put to better use just securing VIPs? When the taxpayers' lives are in different types of danger? Quite a shocking take, some Nigerians actually think all lives aren't equal 😂 no wonder the slave traders had a good time on this continent. |
The ones crying over this guy's take mostly have never in their lifetime left the south, many who eventually do leave the south use the airports, definitely not many from the south would want to travel the roads to the north now, or even travel from the south to the core east by road. It is a very valid point, basic amenities are near useless if there is widespread insecurity, this is only common sense, no development of any sort springs its head in any environment where lives and properties are not secure. Let the president and minister of defence, their family members, travel these roads with just one or two Hilux trucks filled with security, and let us see how it goes. |
helinues:Could you please Introduce your popular papa to fellow Nairalanders? |
Flangelo12:Surely they are professionals, a bachelor's in physiotherapy will not even get you licensure in the United states, you need a doctor of physiotherapy degree, this tells you how much they're not playing with the education of the kind of people they allow to take certain jobs. Trump is only after cutting the federal government spending on loans towards education, the purpose of the "big beautiful" bill, there will not be consequences like the regulatory bodies of "deprofessionalised" courses claim, all it takes to satisfy any workforce needs if students there can't study because of inadequate loan amounts they are eligible to take is a new special visa, professionals with years of experience will flock in from Nigeria, Ghana, the Philippines, India, etc, |
TechBaron:Continue giving gifts, especially to new mamas, you never know how much it means, and yeah these rules are what I explicitly told my mother In law and my mum, everyone who came to visit, the rules are meant to protect tje baby who has near zero immune system strength. People carry lots of diseases and germs, you don't want someone with bleeding gums kissing your baby either on the cheeks or mouth, some with dirty hands holding your baby's hands and then your baby sucks on those hands, no one wants to return to the hospital they barely left. |
This shouldn't even be news, anyone with a working brain should be able to see this, the hunger that'll engulf the nation left, right and center, in the coming years, will be nothing ever seen. Many Nigerians can no longer afford new clothes, parents who have babies now buy used clothes for babies only weeks old, most salary earners now have a page in the big debt records of food sellers in the market, the government ruined cocoa for cocoa farmers. The worst is yet to be seen, everywhere, I keep seeing honest hardworking people losing weight significantly and showing signs of malnutrition, this is in the south west, two years back I spent time in Kano, rented an apartment and I saw what many have seen, kids picking and eating from waste bins, it is now happening in the south west. Let us keep being tribalistic and all about religion, time will tell if hunger and diseases are respecters of certain religious affiliations or tribe, a total restructuring or posterity will laugh at us, the current system will not bare any fruits for the ordinary Nigerian. What we have now is the government of those in government, by those in government and for those in government, such an arrangement only bares fruits of kwashiorkor, outbreak of diseases, increased crime wave and widespread backwardness among the masses, hard life, only those in positions of power, their kins, and their slaves, get to eat a balanced diet, the hard times not yet here! |
Whoever thinks there was a rescue is asleep and needs to wake up, the Nigerian government is not ready yet, they know where to strike and who to arrest when they're ready to actually deal with terrorists. For now they're trying to make international observers believe they're in control, paying terrorists to secure the release of citizens and painting it like it was through some deep intelligence and military action, a bunch of self serving power hungry fools who think Nigeria and it's national treasures are their own birthright. |
These are just on the surface only, what Trump is doing is to reduce the amount of spending the government will be doing, especially on education. Why should they fund the education of these professionals when it'll cost them nothing to create a special kind of visas through which third world graduates of these courses can be poached? And even maybe an arrangement to pay them less than domestic graduates? They rather make money through the Visas, not spend several millions on American students willing to study such courses, and can access cheaper labour from the third world if they want. The same thing the UK has been doing, Brits refusing to go to school or the ones who have gone to school running to Australia, Canada for better earning opportunities, thus they cannot shut the door against international students who keep the universities running with their X3 fees, this explains the UK uni and the loan offering firm ads you see. These professionals will always be sought after all around the world, if you're in the third world studying any of these courses, graduate good and you'll always have intercontinental opportunities, the third world plants with scarce resources, like a thief in the night, the first world harvests, God help the third world, God help Nigeria, India, the Philippines etc. |
Most likely a seal issue, possible the leak stops when seal is replaced, most likely leaks coming from seals can even go undetected from the dipstick until the next oil change, very minimal and often stays on the engine body, if you are seeing significant oil on the floor like every day, then be very careful, check the oil everyday and have your mechanic pinpoint the leak source and have it fixed. |
Omoawoke:The federal government has failed to do this, servicemen don't get paid enough, this alone is why you see some of them working with criminals, renting out rifles to armed robbers, and or even engaging in kidnapping themselves. The governors destroy the states more than anyone else, these looters have successfully deleted the local government while the federal government watches, all this is just talk, they are all criminals. |
