A 23 year old newly recruited Army Officer, Patience Amos Ya'u, has been murdered by her boyfriend at Damilu, Yola, Adamawa state

The deceased was allegedly hacked to death by her boy friend, Ali Mohammed Wakil, during a scuffle in his room around 11:00pm on January 12, 2020.

The boyfriend claimed to be a military personnel serving with 68 Reference Hospital, Yaba, Lagos state.

A neighbor said that they heard the shout of the deceased and Wakil but could not categorically explain the circumstances that led to the killing.

They became suspicious when they did not see Patience for three days and became worried when a terrible odour started emanating from the boy’s room.

They were compelled to forcefully open the window of the room only to discover the body of the deceased at the stage of decomposition.

The suspect was spotted near the residence of the father of the deceased, strolling and enjoying his normal life as at the time when the girl was declared missing. He has since been arrested.

Boyfriend kills 23-year-old Army recruit

A fresh recruit into the Nigerian Army, Patience Amos Ya’u, has been found dead in the room of her boyfriend in Damilu, a community in Jimeta, Yola North local government area of Adamawa State.

The 23-year-old Amos is believed to have died following a scuffle between her and her boyfriend, Ali Muhammed Wakil, whose claim to being a military personnel is being doubted.

The Nation gathered on Sunday that although Patience might have died as far back as January 12, it was not known until several days later when smell from her decomposing body alerted neighbours.

Patience was newly recruited into the Nigerian Army with her peers already training at the Military Training Deport in Zaria two days after her death.

But the boyfriend claims to be a military personnel serving with 68 Reference Hospital Yaba, Lagos.

Neighbours said they had heard voices of Patience and Ali Wakil in his room but did not know that anything grievous was happening.

One of the neighbours told newsmen: “Residents became suspicious when we could not see the lady for good three days. What worried us more was the terrible odour from their room.
“What compounded the situation was how the door of the room was locked from the outside, a development which compelled people to forcefully open the window of the room only to discover the body of the female lover decomposing.”

The discovery of the dead body of Amos forced the neighbours to report to the palace of the ward head who took the matter to the police, who in turn traced the father to his house in Bachure, a community separated from Ali’s Damilu by a major street.

The father, Amos Ya’u, explained that his daughter left his house to plait her hair but did not come back.

He said they had called her on phone on that evening, but she told them that she would be returning home.

He said they called her line later on Sunday but it was not going through, informing since that day, they heard nothing from her until four days later when a police officer came and informed him of her death.

Sources suggest that Ali Wakil is a hardened man who went about his normal life even as the body of his girlfriend, with whom he is said to have been together for a long time, was in his room decaying.

He was said to have been seen even near the home of the girlfriend’s father at Bachure a number of times.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the killing of Patience.

He said the suspect had since been arrested and interrogated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The Bishop Methodist Church Nigeria, Diocese of Ikorodu, Rt. Rev Samson Osundina, on Friday, January 17, 2020, expressed his disappointment in Nollywood actress Funke Akindele Bello and her siblings over their absence at their father's funeral.

Their dad, Very Revd. Godwin Olusoji Akindele, died on Saturday, December 7, 2019, after a brief illness, aged 73. However, none of his four children was present at his Service of Songs and burial at Ibeshe, Ikorodu, Lagos.

While delivering the burial sermon, Rev. Osundina thanked the children for taking care of their father during the times when he was ill, but stressed the fact that paying him the last respect as children was very important and significant. .

Funke Akindele, Siblings Absent At Father’s Burial In Ikorodu

Absence of popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, popularly called ‘Jennifer’ by her teeming fans, and her siblings at their father’s burial in Ikorodu on Friday, January 17, 2020, has drawn the anger of the Presiding Bishop, The Rt. Rev. S.O Osundina, JP, the Bishop of Diocese of Ikorodu, Methodist Church Nigeria.

Very Revd. Godwin Olusoji Akindele, aged 72, died on Saturday, December 7, 2019, after a brief illness.

He was buried on Friday at his Ibeshe home in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area.

Family members, friends, serving and retired Principals, members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ikorodu chapter and former students of late Revd. Akindele, attended the burial service held at the Patriarch Bolaji Methodist Cathedral, Ita Elewa, Ikorodu.

Bishop Osundina, while delivering the burial sermon, commended the former Principal and Priest for a life well-spent.

He asked late Revd. Akindele’s siblings present at the burial service why his children were not in attendance.

He then suspended the usual outing and thanksgiving services which are final programes in Christian’s burial till when the deceased’s children are available to attend.

A source in the Church who told THE IMPACT that all the deceased’s children were also absent at the Service of Songs on Thursday, added that the children have since relocated abroad, including Funke Akindele who, according to her, is presently in Dubai.

Late Revd. Akindele was born into the family of Pastor Richard Obabunmi Akindele of Fasenro family, Oshorun village in Igbogbo, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area and Deaconess Alice Idowu Omolaja of Odofin family in Ikorodu Local Government.

He started his working career as a Clerk with Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Ijora, and later proceeded to the College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Yaba. He went abroad on scholarship to study Vocational, Technical and Adult Education in University of Wisconsin and later obtained Master’s Degree in Education Administration at the same University.

He was the Vice Principal of the Lagos State Model College, Igbokuta and later Principal of Keme Balogun College, Ibeshe, Wasimi Community Grammar School, Ikeja and United Senior High School, Ikorodu, where he retired in 2008.

Late Revd. Akindele was ordained a priest of Methodist Church Nigeria in 2006 and was elevated to the position of a Presbyter in November 2017.

He was survived by three daughters – Bunmi, Funke and Bimbo and a son, Akin.

Attempt to reach Funke Akindele for her comment on the Bishop’s reaction proved abortive.

Badmus Ololade Rafiat, a final year medical student of the Ternopil State Medical University, Ukraine, has taken her own life after being frustrated by the school.

According to her friends, Rafiat took the decision on Thursday afternoon after all means to address her issue with the school proved abortive.

Giving an account of what happened, one of her friends said: “On Wednesday she had a pediatrics exam to take, she did well but they refused to pass her because she didn’t pass her prekrok which is a mock exam in preparation for the final mbbs and is totally unheard of because the prekrok is a mock exam that can be taken as many times as possible till you’re ready to take the main exam which is the final mbbs.

She went to the deans office to beg, she knelt down and cried, we all pleaded but they said they wouldn’t help us. So we decided to start the transfer process to a different school which is what everyone does when they’re expelled, so as to take the final exam in a different school. .

We requested for her transcripts so we can start the process but they refused to give it to us, they said she should go back to Nigeria and reapply for the visa. Mind you, this is nonsense because you have the right to transfer to another school when you’re expelled from yours. All you need to do is transfer your credit and get your transcript from your school and then transfer but they refused to let her transfer. .

Yesterday, we went back there and pleaded and they refused, which caused my friend to believe that all hope was lost. She was being expelled in final year with no hope to continue somewhere else. She left a suicide note and killed herself yesterday. .

Now the school is denying ever expelling her. They even put up a post in the middle of the school stating that. They’re saying she killed herself because she was depressed and suicidal. My friend was fine, they killed her. Nothing we do can bring her back but we need a reform!!! Her death can’t be in vain.”
