A market at Abuja FCT suburb and towards the airport road is a beehive of commercial activities. Despite the fact that the market comprises of a vast land extending into a secluded bush, there is no security presence in the market where about seven thousand people carryout buying and selling activities at least every Friday. Ours is a country where precautions are never taken untill there is loss of lives. Police or Civil defence should please establish a base at Gwoza market. My experience in Europe is that a gathering of a number of people automatically attracts police presence. Its a terrible thing around here. Mod please treat as important |
I bought 3.5gb for 1000 naira last week from mtn during their data competition with other networks. Now just got this message. Dear customer, this plan has been discontinued. You can now buy 1.5GB for N1000. Dial *131*106# to activate. Please note your unused balance will roll over. Why should I not sue then for this . |

I had always wondered why we are so tick skinned and subservient to any kind of illtreatment in this part of the word. I have never seen where consumer right and protection is zero like we have over here. Worst still when foreign companies who lord it on us in various aspects are involved. Multichoice has been the sole provider of satelite television in Nigeria for decades now yet their services are nothing to write home about. Imagine paying monthly subscription when other countries subscribe per useage and yet you are in to contend with all kind of error messages. At times you are deprived from watching the channels for days before they get it back by one or two codes through several attempts at their office. Nobody talks of compensating for the lost period. Attimes channels dissapear without notice and when notice is given there is no explanation and incidental compensation or refund for what you already paid for. If it rains, forget dstv. When the signal finally gets back thank your star. And the next minute you are reminded that your subscription expires the next day. If you don't pay accordingly, you are automatically yanked off. I have never seen a think like this in any part of world. |
Robbers enter a house, asks for all the money and valuables. After they collect what they can, they give the man of the house a gun with instructions to shoot his wife or else he be shot himself. The man gets the gun, points it at his wife and hesitates. He is thinking of what he has gone through in life with his wife and how she has suffered and sacrificed for him. He hands back the gun and says, “I am sorry I can’t do this… “The boss of the robbers silently grabs the gun from him and passes it on to the wife with the same instruction. The wife gets the gun and without any single hesitation points to her husband’s head and pulls the trigger. But at last, the gun had no bullets in it. The robbers get their gun and walk out of the house laughing. QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION 1. If you were the man in that house how would you react towards your wife? 2. If you were the wife, what explanation can you give to your husband! 3. If you were invited to bring peace between this couples, what advice would you give? Drop your Comments & this should really be an interesting topic to discuss as counsellors. |
Nigerian educational system is warped. TETFUND that is supposed to be used for revitalization of the sector is an opportunity to bridge the gap between lecturers and politicians. Its an opportunity to build a house and throw thrash as research for which the grant is given. Give some key people their cuts and all mouths are shut. I visited a university in Nigeria and discovered the same books I used in the 90s as an undergraduate are still being used even by lecturers. I checked the books and found out it had not even been revised. Lecturers copy verbatim from the books, type and give students as handouts. They also pay some journals private journals in the Europe and America to publish articles which they count at "publication in international journals" and use them for promotion. I asked of internet facility or virtual library but that was asking too much. Some of the students have never seen or heard of some academic materials that are common among their mates even in an average academia in SA. A professor not up to 50 years in age told me he had never made use of internet facility in all his research years shocked I gogooled his name and realised he had neither published in any international journal of repute not attended any international conference. His materials were principally based in his university. How in the world did he become a professor Just as we are talking of deregulating the oil downstream sector, can we liberalise the higher educational institutions with some degree of autonomy given to the higher institutions. This will engender academic innovations and administrative efficiency. Education is increasingly being globalised and the developed countries are already running with the tide. Those that never bothered about English language as a medium of teaching are dropping the old idea due to the strategic position the language is increasingly occupying in the global scheme of things. Virtual classrooms are gaining grounds and nations running to bridge the internet gap (electricity has been long conquered). Duplexes for professors are disappearing for momentary hotel bills to lodge a visiting Harvard professor whose academic prowess has gained him a retainership to lecture philosophy in a Nigerian university. He finishes his lectures,( an opportunity to bring down a near havard standard and still save some change for for a prolific academic research) and leaves for US after fixing a date for his exam. He flies in again to conduct his exam, goes back to mark scripts and send result by email. Webinars and other social platforms are there for student's continued interaction with the Harvard professor. If a survey taken at the end of the session among his students does not favour his style of lecture, its time for another egg head. This time a guru from MIT could be invited this time. This trend is rapidly gaining ground in Europe. The lower academia is not left out in this. Where are those educational inspectors that would take the classroom teacher unawares participating in his class disguised as a student? Where are those educational inspectors that would creep into the class and check the notebooks of the pupils accompanied with necessary questions about the teacher? Where are the large playgrounds that used to be as big as the whole Alimosho Local Government and against the two bedroom flat in a crowded neighbourhood that is converted to a school. Where are the march past in the morning assembly with the beat of bands in beautiful rhythm transforming us to patriots who are ready to die for the cause of the nation while we march around large ground with pride? Where are the dedicated teachers who will not spare the rods lest the child spoils, who will not sacrifice discipline for fear of parents? We have fooled around for so long!! |
He had wondered why his wife was not interested in sex lately. He called her to a table to find out as they say communication is the hallmark of relationship. She said her husband should go back to his former punk hairstyle. The man recalled he had dropped his hairstyle on getting a new job where his boss warned him to always be clean shaven. Its like a dilemma. |

Returning from Europe after a long while on studies, John just had to get married. A friend recommended Ada a pretty young damsel fresh out of school.Ada told him point blank she had a fiance and recommended her best friend Ronke. She promised not to let Ronke know that John first came for her so it wouldn't look to Ronke like she was being an option. Ronke was contacted and she agreed. The dating started with Ronke giving reasons and excuses that could not be understood. John tried so many things to bring Ronke closer and even proposed marriage to her. After a while, Rinke declared that she really was not too interested in the relationship. That she had two beautiful colleagues Ausha and Efe that he could pick from. She promised to smoothen the match making if John could just pick one of them. This is just terrible. |

A quote by Robert Mugabe on Racism that racism will never end as long as white cars still use black tires put that question into my mind: "must all vehicle tires be black"? |
He attended a party and stepped into a brawl where a guy drew a knife and stabbed his brother. He ran to a nearby shop looking for a similar weapon which he couldnt find. He took a long run to a butchers shop and got a double edged butcher's knife. He had to enter a bike to go and come back. He walked straight to the guy that stabbed his brother and stabbed him to death on the spot. Today he was sentenced to death at the High Court. The extent to which acts done in the 'heat of the passion' strengthens the defence of provocation is fluid in our criminal jurisprudence. The judge must have thought the convicted man had enough time for a rethink, having gone home to bring a weapon. Not only is capital punishment abolished in different countries, most of these laws have been amended in Britain where they originated. |
Recently on relocating to Abuja, I was at first fascinated by the nice products sold at considerable prices and the ease of shopping in such losh and serene environment.I became a regular shopper and got a card for my incessant patronage. The confidence I built overtime made me not to examine any product I buy from this shopping mall. Just last week, 2 cousins of mine visited and were served out of the fruit juice I bought from NEXT. minutes after they drank, one started complaining about serious stomach upset. I then decided to check the fruit juice which I bought at random and packed in a carton. To my surprise 4 out of 6 cans had expired since 2015. That aroused my suspicion. I checked the beer bottles and discovered almost all of them have particles and there was no way to ascertain their expiry dates. The ones that did not have particles could not foam when poured in a cup or on the ground. Please I am not against any man's business. I am posting this because I have lodged several complaints, not to get my money back but because of the health of the people that troop in and out with these products but to no avail. |
Did you know that about 45% of beer and 60% of bottled wine you buy in Nigeria are adulterated? please check what you drink. |
Got this from Facebook and have to share here, lol

The recent outrage where the Prime Minister of Britain called Nigeria a fantastically corrupt country has attracted a lot of comments. In a recent development, a professor of English in a UK university who pleaded to remain anonymous stated that the phrase "fantastically corrupt " even though used in a paradoxical sense is a wrong usage of English language. He continued by stating that it is surprising that it is a native speaker that produced such blunder. |

There is a documentary about the Biafra war circulating on social media. The relevant security agencies should do something to stop it as it could breed more harm than the history the creators tagged it. https://www.facebook.com/africanews24/videos/vb.842658562528146/880974365363232/?type=2&theater |
