@ PStylish

There is crisis in oil sector really, but what we have there is a bunch of degenerates, slowpoke who in the name of marketers and technocrats have fraudulently crippled the economy of this Nation, it is an economic sabotage and I hope Mr. President will take this fight to their door steps and fish them out for prosecution. Fuel subsidy is the last straw that broke the camels back, and we have to take it from there.

People should and must stop bringing the issue of cabal here, Nigerians have no business with cabals, by the way, who has the legal frame work to investigate and prosecute offendershuhhuh? Let us face facts here, the 2012 budget proposal alone is enough for people to take to streets, how much more policies to further impoverish Nigerians, if we all gonna die for this now, so be it, if not, the govt must respect the people who put them there. Nigerians are not to be taken for granted any more, enough is enough, cabal or no cabal, sponsors or no sponsors.

Ordinarily, if this is a country where things work, there should be an impeachment notice on Jonathan now, but we have all allowed sentiments to over ride our sense of reasoning and we thinking we are living. We must learn to do things right and I think it is a good step Nigerians have taken for once in their life time we are asking for accountability from our government official and even the president himself. No man is bigger than the collective interest of at least 75% of Nigerians which is majority here.

In my own opinion I see is as a retrospective comment, only saying that PDP should also increase electricity tariff and see what the outcome will be. I think he wants the PDP government to get into more troubles so to speak add to the one on ground right now. No normal human will even do that.

That means OBJ govt did not actually do TAM as claimed by the administration that over $700 million dollars was spent for TAM during his administration. I suspect that is why Gov Fashola was summoned to Abuja and flown to Abuja in the presidential plane.
Politics › Re: How Much Should Petrol Really Be Sold At Our Pumps? by babestella: 2:47pm On Jan 13, 2012
if government says it has been paying subsidy out to importers, let them publish the names and accounts and documents used in paying these companies, and let the companies come and defend themselves.

What I think the focus of our president should have done was to get the EFCC swoop into the oil sector to get people arrested for investigations, and then you will see how drastically subsidy payment will reduce for the months of feb and march because a lot of fraudulent documents used in applying for subsidy payment will simply disappear from the tables of PPPRA offices, and while that is going on, he will pass the Petroleum industry bill (PIB) and then face Boko haram squarely. Do this for the next 4 months and see if things will not fall in place.
Politics › Re: How Much Should Petrol Really Be Sold At Our Pumps? by babestella: 2:43pm On Jan 13, 2012
that statement about a major marketer/importer having more than 200 filling stations across the nations was made by the chief imam of Answa ud deen society, and I believe him, all points to Jimoh Abrahim. At Ibafor deport and Apapa tank farms, PMS is sold for between 48 per litre to 55 per litre depending on exchange rate, so who is subsidising who, where does the issue of subsidy come in here. I know a sub marketer who buys PMS from Ibafon depot for about 55 per litre and takes it to Enugu to sell at the pump for 75 naira due to transportation.

Aluta continua, he who says Nigerians are fools must be made to come to terms with reality of the fact that it is the same Nigerians who voted him (GEJ) into power without taking a dime from him, will also ensure that he goes back to his village shoeless, cloth-less, and clueless. Aluta Continua, the strike continues. GEJ has just bagged an award, "Myopic Retardeen of the Year 2012" he and his cohorts and girls friends in government should be sent packing if they have NOT decided to accept that their decision is faulty and learn how to do things the proper way. He will send his soldiers and police to kill all, but the end justifies the means, he must go. No amount of police and army will intimidate the people who are resolved to get GEJ out of Aso rock if he refuses to listen.
Politics › Re: Are We Wrong About President Goodluck Jonathan? by babestella: 9:31pm On Jan 12, 2012
GEJ is not the messiah we are looking for, as a matter of fact, his actions these past few days shows that he is one of the most selfish and wicked presidents Nigerians will ever have, he is so insensitive and unrealistic with his policies. I do not know where he got his degrees from, but I must tell you that GEJ is bereft of any good procedural ideas on how this good nation can actually be moved forward. His myopic approach and cowardly shying away from his/government responsibilities clearly shows that he GEJ can never be able to take this nation to the next level.

It is very unfortunate that he is our president now, and without any reservation, I must tell you, he GEJ need to resign and go back to work as a lecturer. He is just not fit for the job, and I mean it.

I never voted for him, not because I hate him as a person, but i didn't see the charisma of a listening, collaborative, and transparent decision taking leader that ought to lead this nation and I must say to all who voted him, you did not make any mistake, but you voted him because you all believed in him, right now you probably see it a regrettable decision on your path, NO. If mistakes are not done, lessons will not and cannot be learnt. But this strike is an opportunity for you all to kick him out of there before he inflicts further harm and sufferings on the people of Nigeria.

I don't belong to any political party and will not because I don't see any of them taking us to the next level in development. PDP party of which GEJ is a part being the worse party in recent years in Nigeria, I can tell you, if PDP continues to rule Nigerians, we will never make any head way as a nation.

The problem of our government officials is that they all think they can come around and do abracadabra and Nigerians will just swallow hook line and sinker. It is time someone told them that this is getting out of hand, and a proverb says "that a fly that proves stubborn will end up being buried with the corpse"another says " Monkey that has great skills to jump from one tree to another is because the trees are closer to each other, let him jump from a tree in Ikeja to a tree in Mile 2, no matter how skilful a monkey is, it can never achieve that.

I think one big problem our government actors have right now is that they fail to realise that Nigerian people have evolved, we have come a very long way and the days are gone where government will begin to think that they can intimidate Nigerians, someone better tell Oga Jona, when it gets out of hand, let him not say no one gave him the opportunity to restore the situation back to normalcy.

I am particularly of our governors, especially people like babangida Aliyu, Amaechi; in their myopic illusion they think they can cajole Nigerians into believing the government when it is absolutely clear to an okada rider in the street that the Jona they elected is incompetent to lead Nigeria and wants him out of their. I see them making frantic effort alongside Deziani, Sanusi and others who have been mandated to make sure they convince Nigerians with vague economic terms we have heard over the years. These people have displayed abysmal lack of intellectual capacity to thinker a way out of economic problems for Nigeria and I see no reason why they should remain in governance because it amount to waste our tax payers money paying these fooooools salaries and allowances of even leaving in sensitive positions they take advantage of to fraudulently enrich themselves and family member while poor people wallow in abject poverty and insufficiency.

Politics › Re: Femi Falana & Funmi Iyanda On Fuel Subsidy Removal - Channels TV by babestella: 2:57pm On Jan 11, 2012
My questions are this:

1. As against the proposed removal on 1st of April, why did GEJ and his team break the dialogue table by announcing subsidy removal on Jan 1st when discussions were still ongoing? GEJ,needs to answer because now you can see what it has resulted to.

2. 2011 budget is still in force until the end of march 2012. Can you tell me where the excess funds being made now is going. Mind you, most of the fuel being sold now were fuel that were brought in under the subsidy regime, in other words, subsidy fund have been appropriated for this fuel we are buying now and yet the price have been jacked up to 138/141 per litre. This is fraudulent and total breach of trust on the part of the government.

3. Can the govt come on air and tell us how a subsidy figure of 240 billion was jacked up to almost 1.3 trillion. What are the components of this figure. Because according to Femi Falana pointed out with facts and figure from documents issued by NNPC regarding the sharp increase in the figure, there are 2010 and 2009 areas of up 18 billion and 250 billion respectively. Then you have various components which the NNPC has admitted were irregular in the component, why can't this fraud be addressed.huhhuh?

4. Based on the point in 3. we call all see that the 1.3 billion being brandished by our govt officials are just to cajole us into believing that lots of money will be saved and will be used to better the lives of Nigerians, it is total lie. What actually should be shared is 240 billion or so.

Based on this points, we can see that if corruption in the downstream sector is properly tackled, our dear government can comfortable sustain subsidy until the Petroleum industry bill PIB is passed which stipulates the proper and legitimate way to go about removing subsidy.

I am not a govt official and I am not in any labour coalition, I am just a Nigerian who cares about the ways things should be done down here. This is our country and we must demand that things be done properly and accountably too.

Politics › Re: Rivers Governor Introduces Fuel Subsidy, Cuts Price From N141 To N137 by babestella: 12:26pm On Jan 11, 2012
@efisher

I get your point, but the major problem we have in Nigeria is that of corruption, and that is why 1. We will be left at the mercy of the fuel importers. 2. They have a choice now to move their fuel to neighbouring countries to sell thereby making the product scarce here, and when you have scarcity, the obvious happens, price increase. That is why we want corruption to be stemmed by govt who has the machinery to do that, and the  PIB passed and lets have at least 2 refinery working at full capacity, then you'll see price of fuel at an affordable price and even other good derivatives of good governance falling in place. It i snot enough to ask us to buy fuel at 140 per litre just to enable govt have enough money to execute project, Nigerians are also concerned about transparency in the pricing, awarding and execution of govt projects. In Nigeria, govt project are the most expensive in this world. In other countries for instance, an airport can be build with say 1 billion dollars, but when that same airport is to be build here  in Nigeria using our own technical team and local content, it will cost us 5 billion dollars, and when issue about inflated cost are raised, no one is punished for that.

3. Our govt are making frantic effort to make Nigerian accept their proposal, but they fail to realise that they are exposing their inefficiency, incompetence and failure to run this country aright, please they all should resign and return to their respective endeavours, that is the most honourable thing to do.

4. The people of Nigeria whom the govt says it is planning to better their lives are saying no, they want a better life if it must come this way, and our govt thinks that Nigerians are mad.huhhuhhuh? This are the same people that saw our president as a capable leader and elected him, is he now telling us we are all wronghuhhuhhuh
Analogy: It is like going to the market to buy a tight fitted shoe for your wife, and when she wears it, it fits her but so tight that she cannot even walk from the room to the car without crying, will you insist that she continue to wear ithuhhuh NO, even if you insist, she will still say now, and you have to return it back to were it was bought. You don't expect her to manage ithuh?? it simply cannot work.
Our govt have gone to buy a tight shoe for Nigeria promising that it will loosen up, we are saying NO because we cannot even wear the shoe within the house how much more wearing it out, and what we expect our govt to do is to return it from where they got it for.

They system is just terrible abeg.

Politics › Re: Rivers Governor Introduces Fuel Subsidy, Cuts Price From N141 To N137 by babestella: 11:58am On Jan 11, 2012
NOTE THE FOLLOWING POINTS:

1. Our govt has come forward with postulation that our fuel is being taken to Niger, Chad and other countries to sell at above 65 naira after they have collected fuel subsidy money from our govt. MY point is this, if fuel price is left at 140 per litre as it is now, the same cabals will still take the same fuel after bringing it in through our ports to those neighbouring countries to sell at higher prices, because one thing we must understand is that the prices of fuel in neighbouring countries is determined by prices and availability from our country. What this will even create is a situation where fuel is cleared from our port and transported straight to neighbouring countries where fuel prices will have risen to about 300 per litre. What does this mean, it then means that fuel will be scarce down here thereby making supply limited, and when you have limited supply, our prices are bound to hit between 280 to 300 naira per litre and this will happen any within the next 6 months if we allow this 138/141 per litre now. When that happens, we all can imagine what will happen to us all.

2. why are we going to be seeing all thesehuh?? Because our government have simply failed in her responsibility to check corruption starting from the past government to the present one now. They shy away from fight corruption and think that the easy thing to do is to shift the burden on innocent Nigerians. But that is totally wrong and we are saying that GEJ/Sambo are incapable to run this country and we are calling for their resignation.

3. I read in the Nations news paper dated Jan 3rd, 2012 page 17, it captions "N10 Billion naira Power equipment rot away at ports"
Now we can all see how our resources are being wasted. How on earth can such power equipment which should have been installed to generate power be allowed to waste away for the past 3 years. Now I read further and one of the reasons why it was abandoned at the port by government was that it was substandard and fake and now those who imported the equipment in the governments name want it to be abandoned and sold in auction so that they can buy it and use it for their own benefit, and probably sell it back to government who is in sole business of generating power nationally. We can all see the rot in our govt, and the way our govt wastes our resources without bulging. It is a such a shame that we have people in the government who as said to be Harvard grad, former directors at Shell, etc, and when I hear them talk on TV about the fuel subsidy removal, I get so disappointed and ashamed of our leaders. This is exactly how they are going to waste our resources if we eventually allow the price of fuel to stay at 138/141 per litre. We must resist it with the last drop of our blood.

4. The Petroleum industry bill is there to be passed. It has been with the senate for over 3 years now, and nothing is done about it. It is clear in the bill that infrastructures must be put in place before final deregulation is done and subsidy on fuel removed. Our govt is quick to remove subsidy but not quick to pass the PIB. May God help them, as we continue with this strike, and we are urging all Nigerians to speak with one voice, it is time we sack Jonathan and his cohorts if they refuse to revert back to 65 per litre. Nigeria is bigger than any individual or cabal, and should not be taken for a ride by these few greedy e-di ots.

5. How did our government utilize money realised from the removal of subsidy on DPK (Kerosene) and AGO (diesel)huhhuh? Big question. Before they removed the subsidy on these 2 products, they promised that we are going to see improvement on infrastructures, health care, education etc. What are we seeing today, ASU strike, poor health care system, higher cost of education etc. Rather, they continue to earn millions of naira per annum in allowances.

6. We talk of state on insecurity in Nigeria today. The country is at the brink of collapse or even breaking up, and our dear president is more interested in fuel so that his government will have more money to share. It is laughable how our govt officials think at times, the country's unity is being threatened by a few Islamic sect and our govt is not bothered, rather they are bothered about raising more money to share. >>>> We cannot take this and we are saying that Jonathan is incapable, incompetent, and lack the intellectual capacity to lead this Nation, and we urge all Nigerians to stand up and lets send this man back to Otuoke his home town, people like him are not needed in the affairs of this Nation.

7. Removal of fuel subsidy will enable FDI, it is agreed, but when the FDI takes of, will our government tell them to sell fuel at 65 per litre, NO, they will not, because what brought them here in the first instance is the high price and if they must stay, the high price must remain and or even rise higher.

8. what is the actual landing cost of fuel in Lagos porthuhhuhhuhhuhhuh? Please any one with informationhuh?

9. What is the actually subsidy figurehuhhuhhuhhuhhuh?

10 What quantity of fuel do we consume daily in Nigeria, real figures please.

I rest my case for now.

@LeoMax,

I appreciate your views about the subsidy removal. We all know and understand that removal of fuel subsidy will do us a lot of good in development of infrastructure within the country, but as you rightly said, the Nigerian government is a corrupt entity, as a long as nothing has been done or can be done to check corruption in the Nigerian system, we do not and will never trust the proper use of the funds that will be realized by the removal of fuel subsidy, it is simple. I understand that fighting corruption in Nigeria is like getting involved in a gladiator fight with a sword and shield. It is absolutely dangerous, but why do we have him as a leader, why did we elect him to lead us if he cannot lay down his life for Nigerians.

We talking about attracting FDI into the refinery business, I quite agree with the fact that this will attract FDI, but what will be the terms of operationhuh?? If foreign refineries spring up in Nigeria because of the removal of subsidy which has prompted the sale of fuel at between 138 to 141 per liter what will be the terms of operation. Will our government force them to sale fuel as below 65 per liter as it should rightly be soldhuhhuh? OR will our government now fold their hands and allow them rob Nigerianshuhhuh??

I agree that FDI will definitely make prices come down, what is the guaranteehuhhuh, because here in Nigeria, things don’t work the way it should work. It is only in Nigeria that our govt spends money that is enough to build a new refinery in rehabilitating the old one and at the end of the day, it never works and no question is asked.

The billionaires we are talking about in the oil industry were all in front row during the town hall meeting anchored by Nduka of Thisday, our government knows these people no doubt, and they are all in the economic team of president GEJ. When you have such people in the economic team what do you expect. Most of these people are sponsors of PDP’s victory in the last election. You can see that even in our leadership cadre, we do not have a president who has the guts to tell Nigerians the truth, and in this scenario what I feel our president should do is to swallow the bitter pill and continue doing that, until we are able to build a refinery and revive the existing one. Who says we cannot have a 100% functional Nigerian refinery. That is where we are getting it wrong, we always believe that good intended projects will be hijacked by corruption, what have the past and present government done to stem the tide of corruption in Nigeria, if they had been able to do something in the past I am sure we would not be having these problems now.

We all witnessed what happened in the power probe by our house of rep member during the last administration, we all saw how the probe went, and today where are the culprits.

This is exactly the fear of Nigerians, “corruption” if our government can check corruption, every other infrastructure will fall in place with minimal cost for that matter. So that when a project is said to cost 10 million, it actually cost that 10 million. But right now, a project that cost 10 million, our government official will put up documents to tell us it cost 25 million. It is only in Nigeria.
