2. Risk management: For your business to move forward, you're solely responsible for all the risk involve in your business in terms of health, and insurances.

3. You're the boss, and the staff at the same time. You handle all the processes by yourself. Especially as a beginner, you will have lot to take on from getting clients, monitoring payment and delivery the work etc.

4. Loneliness and Burdensome. As a beginner working solo, it can be lonely especially when you have a deadline to meet and no one else to support you. Be ready to pull through that early stage of your freelancing journey. That's why getting yourself a mentor is an added advantage. Your mentor will help you to push forward when you feel tired. Hold your hands as you work.

As a regular Nigerian Student looking for how to leverage my smartphone to make money online while attending school, I discovered a suitable business for students and corpers that many do not know.
This discovery came about as I researched suitable smartphone businesses for students and corpers; What I found interesting about this business is that it pays in dollars.

One mistake many people make is never preparing for the labour market. As prospective NYSC corps member or serving member, you need to understand the reality: if you didnt read a solid or indemand course such as medicine or anything in computer science and among other indemand courses, you may struggle in Nigeria. Another option is if you have capital or connection that can help you secure a good job. This is why many youths complete their service and become more confused. The problem is that you will talk now, they won't listen but years later, they will begin to see the reality.

There are many useless courses in Arts and social sciences as long as Nigeria is concerned and many graduates from arts/humanities struggle with mathematics. These basic mathematics are needed in most entry level professional jobs that at least pay well. See eh, you will just be confused the more if you don't take the right steps. This is why many get jobs but are poorly paid. Jobs that can't take good care of their basic needs.
If you do not have huge capital, you don't have strong family connection to help you secure a good job in Nigeria and you didnt study any of the indemand courses, please embrace tech. Save up and learn anything in tech that can help your life.
That was what saved me. I read Mass Communication. It is one of the most useless courses in Nigeria. I had to embrace tech. The road was tough but thanks goodness I started at least. That was after working for one year plus post NYSC year. It is same even in developed worlds if you do not want to be doing degrading jobs and ass licking citizens of those countries, get good skill or read a great course.

I am telling you now, start early. My regret is never starting early and never knowing the things I know now. I am not talking about get rich quick scheme. I mean start early and build a career in tech. You can enroll into any of my courses. I will surely teach you what has worked and has not worked for me. There are so many useless courses. If you did one, please, start early to migrate into tech. Don't even wait until you complete your NYSC.

I learned these lessons from my Doctor friend and every Sales Person should know.

It was on a Wednesday afternoon, I had finished up my work quickly at the office. I decided to head home

But due to traffic on my usual route, I had to take another route. As I was on that route, I remember a friend of mine who we haven't seen for weeks now due to work.

I quickly gave him a call and he answered, fortunately he was still at the hospital.

oh I forgot to mention that he's a Doctor.

So I drove straight to the hospital where he works. I also thought that would be an opportunity for me to do my checkup.

When i got there, he had just came back from his rounds. so we started gisting..

While we were at it, the nurse brought the next patient in for consultation.

He quickly begged me to give him few minutes to attend to the patient.

I sat down patiently sipping the cold maltina he offered me, while i listened as the patient complained about her illness.

Their conversation went on like this:

Patient: good afternoon doctor, I'm not feeling well. my back aches terribly.

Doctor: when did the pain started?

Patient: about 3days ago

Doctor: what have you used?

Patient: just some herbal medicine like that o but I no see any changes jare.

Doctor: have you had a back or bone issue before now?

Patient: not really, I've been managing it like that. though it has never been this serious.

Well the conversation went on and on like that for about 3mins.

After this series of questions, my Doctor friend began to explain to her what the condition she has is called.

No con ask me Watin be the condition o even me I no know cuz the grammar big pass my age....

Moving on,

He then recommended for her series of test, and told her the procedures and treatment she should prepare for depending on her test result.

As I patiently mask myself in the background, I pondered on what my friend was doing.

Why is a Doctor asking so much question from a sick person?

Why not just recommend any of the medications they have in their pharmacy?

It was then it dawned on me that a lot of business owners, especially people in sales aren't using the sales principle judiciously.

So as a business person, an affiliate, a marketer, or a freelancer. why should you ask your prospects questions before selling.

Here's why;

1. Asking your prospect questions help you establish their pain point.

2. asking your prospect questions help you know how to help them.

3. it provides you with informations on their experiences in the past or with similar products.

4. it provides you your sales angle.

5. it position you as an expert (provided you ask the right questions)

6. it makes selling easier. ( you won't have to crack your brain or stress yourself looking for how to help your prospect)

Now you know why you haven't been making the sales you desire.

Don't just read. Implement, and implement it fast.

An average Nigerian wants to complete his/her education, get a good job and start his/her own family.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. But in the Nigerian of today, do we have such good jobs?

I won't bother you by reminding you of all the crisis you already know before.

So how do you monetize your degree.


Well here are 4 ways you can use to monetize your degree.


1. If you have the money, start working on furthering your education oversees. Let's be realistic, getting a job that pays you $1000 in places like UK, Canada, US is easier than getting a job that pays you N100k here in Nigeria. Apply for scholarships. The best way to japa is to follow the study route.


2. Join the Military. Whichever arms of the military you prefer, obtain short service combatant form.


3. Obtain a loan using your NYSC certificate as collateral and start your business. Yes, you might be surprise. But a lot of people are actually doing this right now in the country. But hope u get solid business plan before u collect the loan sha...

4. Offer Professional Advices online. As an expert in your field. You can offer consultancy services online. You can do that on facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and you can also register on freelancing platforms.

However don't forget you can offer others skills as a freelancer, if you already have a skill before. You can use your 1year as corp member to learn a high income skill.

Unfortunately the mediocre mindset has sunk deep into the mind of lot of youth today.

No one wants to work, but everybody wants to bam with the big boys.

It's so saddening.

I hope every Nigerian youth would learn this.

Nothing can ever replace the place of talent and skills. Not even your degrees.

Unfortunately this is the kind of country we found ourselves.

We have wavered from the purpose of schooling. Schools are meant to make us EDUCATED.

Today school only gives us certificate without education.

In a standard society, you been a first class student, it is assumed you are well educated to be self employed.

Learn a skill. Develop yourself! There's no job anywhere unless you are well connected.

Nigerian youth please learn a skill

If you are just starting online, try to avoid these common mistakes alot of people often make.

1. Do not go to google and search for how to make money online.
If you do, you are likely going to get scammed and waste your time. 99% of people who go this path end up never escaping this maze.


2. You don’t have to sell to make money. Don’t be deceived to make money online you must have a product or service you are exchanging for money online.

3. Online MLM’s: pyramind schemes disguised as network marketing opportunities. Even if their products are just a bunk of ebooks and courses. The same applies.


4. Cash gifting programs. Any program that promises to pay you without doing anything in particular to make money is a scam. Avoid them. MMM and its many cousins.


5. Basically anything anything that promises you'll make a lot of money doing very little to no work.
