CoolUsername:Saw the trailer...can't wait... Bloody power rangers |
mablie:I think at the end of the day, what we all want is good discourse... If you don't like or understand a show...why not ask those who like it what they like about it? Same way that those who bring up valid criticisms should not be shut down but rather you can respond to their criticism The two people I attacked in the past 2 days were well known for their antics...rather than lay out valid criticism, theyll prefer to call the movie/show bad and give no reasonable or valid criticism to it... blueelf and writerNG You can check the entire thread since inception...these two have never made any sensible criticism to any show or movie... The only viable reason is because they just don't understand the shows/movies so they attack the show and those who like it... For months, I've been asking blueelf why he thinks Attack on Titan is trash or overrated...till now and to the end of time he has never replied and will never reply... The necessary answer is that he just doesn't understand it...same way he doesn't understand Dune and he can't bring up any valid criticism of it |
There is one weird take I've seen in several movie/series discourse... And it's becoming rampant here also... Some people have this notion that because they do not understand a movie/series, it automatically does not make sense or it is overrated... SOME PEOPLE HERE EVEN GO AS FAR AS TO ACCUSE OTHERS OF "PRETENDING TO UNDERSTAND" A MOVIE/SERIES Here is my response to that: If you do not understand a movie/series and others understand it, the problem is from you, not the series and not those who understand it... Do not blame a work of media just because you fail to understand it when others do...and others appreciate it... Maybe it comes from the self-esteem issue of feeling like your media literacy must be above or be on par with everyone else... We are seeing it on this thread with DUNE where those who don't understand the movies accuse others who understand it of pretending... The same thing happened with Jujutsu Kaisen S2 when some people claimed it made no sense simply because they didn't understand it. Same thing happened with Attack on Titan. If you don't understand something and someone else understands it...it makes sense...the problem is from you... The problem is not from the movie/series or from the person who understands it. |
mablie:I and several others on this thread have outlined many questions and many things which the movies seem to have cut from the source material... Yet the movie is still good... The fact is that the dude I quoted does not understand any good media... He never has... Dune is not the first movie/series he has not understood... We know him well on this thread |
Go Go Loser Ranger!!! Windbreaker Some new anime I'm interested in...

Baddestguyp:This here goes into his character... But it's pretty long...but if you can watch the first maybe 15 minutes...it does a good job https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6GmVCD7cxk?si=WBdXZO5QGq1rtF2w |
NeoWanZaeed:From what I can tell, Paul Atreides is on his way to becoming a Tyrant...he will rule with blood and terror despite being proclaimed as the "Messiah" or "Savior" If I find a quality video that explains both Eren and Paul Atreides and their parallels, I'll post it This below is the closest I found...but it didn't really go into Eren's character unfortunately... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ues4aA_n6gA?si=rGNSfk1xQonqDlZZ |
Blueelf:Again, you missed the point of my post on the parallels between both characters... The main reason is because you never understood Attack on Titan and also sure enough you never understood DUNE. Anyone who has seen both media and understands them will understand my post. You clearly don't. In both cases, it is not the writer's fault that you lack media literacy. It is you who needs to work on yourself... Or maybe stick to your Nollywood home videos since any media that has depth that requires anything higher than your 5 IQ becomes "overrated" to you. Someday...when you can actually understand media (if that day ever comes), perhaps you should try rewatching both Attack on Titan and Dune and see for yourself why people highly rate the works... Thank you |
NeoWanZaeed:He literally stated that they have enemies surrounding them and all their paths lead to defeat... Except one slim path he must follow... And recall his previous visions showed that if he goes South, his actions will cause the holy war that will bring about suffering to the world... That is the single narrow path he has taken...
|
NeoWanZaeed:Paul's actions have led to the Holy War... From his visions, the Holy war will lead to the death of millions of people...and will lead to mass hunger and starvation... His visions show him that there is actually only one single slim path for victory...and I'm sure that path will be very bloody... I personally think Paul will be the main villain of Dune...and will have to be stopped at the end |
Blueelf:I'm pretty sure no one was expecting you to understand Dune. Your track record here speaks for itself... There's no good movie/series you've ever understood... I've adviced you before to stick to Nollywood home videos |
NeoWanZaeed:Paul seems like he's becoming the villain to me... And the constant comparison to Eren from AOT assures me he's becoming the villain |
Ballzproblem2:Invincible finale was seriously underwhelming... The main villain was a character who was introduced in like Episode 1 and we never saw him again until he reappeared in the finale... At first I even forgot who he was sef since S2E1 aired like November 2023 and we never saw the character until April 2024... And you use such a lame character as the final villain of the season? Instead of actually keeping the fight serious, they started using it for fanservice by showing multiverse characters like Batman instead of keeping a serious tone... They killed all tension of Mark getting trapped in a dimension by having the Guardians from the future casually come in to rescue him a minute later... They even killed the stakes of past battles by showing that dead characters actually survived... Why TF did we even get the tomb zombie thing?... The entire season 2 of Invincible was just side tracked by too many random events that feel like filler to pad time |
nani667:Code Geass has way too much fanservice that it's hard to take seriously as an adult |
Chibudollar:But to be honest, Nigerians are not that worse than average consumers worldwide...my only issue is the lack of discussion or dissection of movies... And again, you can't really blame Nigerians...look at Nollywood... Nollywood is so limited in plot...all our movies just scream "home video"....the same tired trend of voodoo, money ritual, local romance, etc... Our movies are so full of plot contrivances and plotholes...even the big budget movies we release sacrifice a concise plot for fanservice... Hollywood has some of these issues, but at least they still release some very good movies to make up for it... And I don't just think it's a technological or budget issue... Our storylines feel so limited....it's like they're made for old men and old women of the past generations... Maybe it's a culture thing...who knows... A Nigerian spy thriller will probably end up looking like pure comedy |
Archtype:They need to rewatch part 1 |
Raalsalghul:I heard a lot from the books were cut to fit into the movie... This is why such adaptations should be in seasonal format... Also Hollywood should focus on more on epic book adaptations...they are far more gripping than the stale Superhero movies/whows |
NeoWanZaeed:Chani (Zendaya) will probably kill Paul Atreides to stop his villainy or the chaos he will cause... Either that or his actions lead to Chani's death... What is sure to me is that at least one of them will die in Dune |
Baddestguyp:Now it's time for me to address something now that I've seen Dune Part 2. It's the Similarities between Paul Atreides from Dune and Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan *This post will contain spoilers for the Dune movie I've been hearing for months about the similarities between the two characters and their situations... And I must say I clearly see a lot of similarities and also a lot of differences between both shows/characters. Paul Atreides drank the water of life and attained the power to see the past and the future...the same way Eren got hold of both the powers of the Founding Titan and the Attack Titan and was able to see the past and future... The big difference however is that Paul Atreides could see multiple futures or timelines and saw a very thin path to victory and to save his people... On the other hand, in Attack on Titan, there are no multiple outcomes, there is only one timeline and one future, so Eren Yeager only sees the singular future that must happen and has happened. Another difference is that Paul Atreides had no choice but to start the Holy War because it was the only path for victory...however Eren's decision to follow the future and start the Rumbling was based more on his desire and his nature to seek freedom... Also, in Paul's case, he actively tried to avoid the future he saw...plus it was not in his nature to do the things he did...he only acted that way because he was pushed to a corner and it was the only path to victory from all the possible futures he had seen... In Eren's case however, his actions were in line with his nature from birth...one who actively sought freedom...one who would destroy the enemy who tried to take away his freedom... whether they be Titans or humans...so Eren didn't need to change...his understanding of his situation changed instead...and his enemies changed... That said, there are more similarities in that in both characters, both Paul and Eren are partially motivated by revenge and also for their people.... Both characters have also pushed the women they loved aside in a quest to acheive their goals... Boths characters have also taken reckless risks because they've seen the future and know they survive them... And who knows...both characters may be killed by the women they love... I haven't read the Dune books so I can't confirm that

DUNE Part Two.............9/10 I'll try to keep this review as short and spoiler free as possible since the movie just dropped for downloads today... Firstly, I haven't read the Dune books the movies are adapted from... And the reason this movie is a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 for me is because it felt rushed midway... Not long after Paul started attacking North with the Fremen, his Fremen name and exploits spread so fast... I also didn't like the scenes with Rabban (Baptista) being scared and all that... There are also some unanswered questions like if the Fremen had lasers that could easily tear through ships, then how come they were attacking in land battles... especially the one where many of them died to a Gunner ship... Also the true nature of the prophecies are not clear...how much of it is Bene Gesserit propaganda and how much is true... Because so far, the "propaganda" or false prophecies used to control the Fremen seem to actually be pretty true... And what exactly did Feyd-Rautha do different? How did he know the Fremen Southern base to attack directly...that's why the middle of the movie seemed very rushed...they could have expanded the movie to 3 hours tbh...I wish they did... The final battle also seemed to easy...before you say he could see...the issue is how easy the battle played out considering the opponents had giant space ships that could as well stay above and attack from there... For me the movie's biggest strength is the lore...and I even heard that the movies only touch a surface of the lore in the books... The Cinematography is also outstanding...watching on high quality, it's amazing... The voice acting is also superb...I had to rewatch some scenes several times just to keep appreciating the voice acting... Was an entirely new language created for the movies just like in GOT?

abduleez1:Some people don't like gripping narratives... They also don't appreciate good lore |
Illusioneffect:I didn't rewatch the first Dune movie until today where I binged both... Very good movies... DUNE movies makes Jack Snyder's Rebel Moon look like an even bigger joke... The difference in lore is like an entire universe apart |
iamoyindamola:Rewatch part one... Should be common knowledge... Watch both together |
Chibudollar:Watch both Dune movies together... I rewatched part one and immediately watched part 2 afterwards... Use subtitles too and rewind if necessary... You'll understand... There's nothing hard to understand in both movies |
WriterNig:I just finished watching the movie and I must say you are a very big clôwn 🤡🤡🤡 Even if your life depended on it, you won't know a good movie when you see one.... You have 0 media literacy |

Invincible season 2............7/10 A pretty decent season. Not as good as the first season tho. I think the break hurt it a lot as it killed immersion for me at least... The entire season felt like a set-up for season 3 imo Personally I think this season could have easily been at least an 8.5/10 if it had way better animation, music and better direction. The show is quite lacking in the direction department...the directing of scenes can easily turn a scene from a 7/10 to a 10/10 scene...but in this show it doesn't do that...the directing could certainly have been better. Instead it feels like the entire budget was wasted purely on paying celebrity voice actors. The animation especially suffered a lot... I'm not a person who rants about animation quality a lot but I couldn't help but notice how the terrible animation of this show stood out... It was literally 1990's animation level. Old Ghost in the Shell movies had way better animation than a high budget animation on 2024? Shocking The poor animation killed immersion for me so many times... A lot of the emotional moments fell flat for me because of these issues I listed above. The producers tried to make a big deal about Mark struggling with the feeling of killing a human and yet it didn't hit for me. Same as the arc of Mrs. Debbie Grayson dealing with the trauma of her ex-husband's betrayal and actions Same as the character arcs of The Immortal and Dupli-kate... Mark's relationship with Amber never really hit it for me. They didn't seem like a good match at all to me...and it felt like a pointless drag watching the show waste so much time on their relationship drama issues... That said, the season did have some shocking moments but at this point it feels like the entire show is being carried by a few moments of shock value... You'd expect the show to be more streamlined to focus on the story by this second season...but instead we're still faced with many random sidetracking....random everyday villains... The point of these side tracking is obviously to develop each character but they mostly fall flat due to the mediocre directing this show suffers from. In summary, it wasn't a bad season by any means, but it wasn't a great one either... There were some writing issues...but far bigger production issues... Most of the issues could have been resolved by better use of its budget... And the whole swollen eye trend was getting on my nerves
