As long as you fall in love with One Piece, the number of episodes won't be an issue. There's years I didn't watch a single OP episode. There's months where I binged a 100. Even right now as we speak, I'm 300+ episodes behind and planning to catch up next year.

TL-DR: Them no dey rush One Piece like party jollof
I caught up to One Piece early this year...

But I decided to wait again for it to pile up...cos that's what I'm used to

lmaooooo where i wan start from? 😂😂😂😂...Na to take 1 year vacation like this 😭
I'll suggest the trick I used:

It took me about 5 years to catch up, but you can do it in less than a year.

Watch like 150-200 episodes at a stretch, then take a one month break...then repeat...
You'll be going by arcs...most of the later arcs are like 100-150 episodes long

The guy just one form realism on top fantasy movie. He did that based on the fact that the other benders can only bend when they have the elements before them. That rubbish move just cast big time
I have never really considered watching One Piece; is it interesting?
One Piece is great.

Anime or Live action? Which you wan watch?

One Piece has some of the craziest Foreshadowing and mystery...
The world building is some of the best in fiction.

I once showed here some posts about timeline of events in One Piece and it's crazy...
So many events throughout thousands of years even before the present timeline of the show

The Netflix adaptation is good but the goofiness is toned down

I don't know why, this feels so "midjourney" to me 😃. I probably have residual burnt effect from how bad the last adaptation was. So many things have to go right for this to bang.
I didn't really hate the last movie when I first watched it...

Cos I wasn't an ATLA fan and I didn't care much about the source material then...

But when I rewatched ATLA, I truly realized how bad the movie was grin grin

I wonder how painful it would have been for fans who saw the movie after being fans of the animation

I simply asked why you said there was nothing good in the show

Is that a bad question?

I feel the same too.... There were some instances where One Piece CGI or makeup/prosthetics looks somewhat cartoonish. At times I dey blink 3 times make my eyes normalize.

It's the most important piece of Netflix's animation adaptation push for excellence. I already expected better production quality overall.

The casting is great too especially as almost all the cast looks exactly like live-action versions of the characters.
the One Piece production was more expensive than I anticipated...
So it's obvious they had to cut expenses somewhere...

The ATLA adaptation would obviously have a bigger budget and higher production quality cos it's more familiar to Western Audiences...so more viewers

abduleez1:
If they deviate from the source material small, e no bad, as far as it's mostly logical and it enhances the story.
If at least they delivered the acting performance of the One Piece live-action, then it'd be an entertaining watch. It wasn't Emmy worthy performances but it was decently good and very entertaining.

That rubbish wey M. Night Shyamalan dish us that year na premium abomination. Imagine firebenders dey hold lighter for hand always before them fit bend? Rubbish!!
bro I can't forget the part where it took an entire squad of earthbenders to lift a small stone after dancing for 2 minutes grin grin

They could have as well picked up the stone and threw it grin

They are obviously gonna deviate from the sourcem material with Azula introduced so early...

Dialogue shouldn't be a problem either. It's the delivery of the dialogue that matters...

Honestly if they could pull off One Piece which was previously seen as impossible to adapt...then they should be able to pull off ATLA

But the acting of the young cast is what worries me

Netflix has bodied everyone when it comes to animation/anime adaptation presently. And the gap ain't close.

This is funny Sha...

Someone came here to say there is nothing good about a show aside a certain character.

I asked him what he said that...

But apparently I committed a crime by asking him?

If he really thinks so about the show...why not defend his statement?

Not by force but it's basic issh to at least defend your statement

Your comments relating to that show was condescending that day..... More than enough to cause an argument in the thread that lasted for two pages or more.

It's simple, Baba no like wetin him watch. Issues no day. Na him preference.
you yourself admitted I didn't criticize The Wire

Quoting you just now: "The same you that was ready to talk shït about a show iou haven't even watched and demanded reviews to tell you why you would like it??"

Is this not clear admission I didn't criticize the show? You said I was ready to do so...but I didn't...I said I needed reviews to see why to watch it
TV/MoviesRe: What Series Are You Watching Now? Part 2 by Baddestguyp(m): 9:11pm On Nov 09, 2023
oyaskii:
First off. It is 100% about AOT because that's the subject matter here.

Secondly, it is not wrong for you to ask him to drop his reasons for his opinion but on the other hand he owes you no explanation or reasons why he holds that exact view on AOT, more likely so, because of how emotional and unhinged you get when it comes to AOT.

I am thinking out loud here, if he had said that about another show, you probably wouldn't have bat an eyelid.

Final case in point: Trying to make sense of everything will lead you nowhere, because not everything will make sense or sound logical...just let it go.
okay it's about AOT as you have said...no problem

Secondly, did I force him to drop his reasons? I asked him to but he didn't...
He refused to drop his criticism. He just said he's entitled to his opinion.
I cannot force him to type however his opinion holds no water if he cannot defend it

Thirdly, I have called people out for other shows...
I recommended Mr Robot here and some people dropped bad ratings...
When I asked them, all of them didn't say what was wrong with the show...

I stopped recommending Mr Robot on this thread because of that...

Finally, the same way people are free to drop random ratings or reviews...we are free to ask them why.
If you criticize something, you should be able to defend it if called out.

No be today I don dey enter arguments with people about criticism here.

If you can't defend your point, then it's worthless to anyone here...

If you say Oppenheimer is 2/10 and we ask you why and you cannot say anything, it's either you didn't understand it or you have no point. Simple...

It's not about AOT, I have people I argue both it's strength and weaknesses with...And we both bring points

There is no "defence" or contrary opinion that he would tell you that will make you think otherwise, for a show that you have clearly shown 100% favouritism bias overtime, Your time on here is, 98% you praising AOT, I don't want to say 100% not to sound over the top.

Your truth and his truth can exist. AOT is the best show in history to you (valid), Mikasa is the only good thing about AOT (valid too in his own context.).
It's not even about AOT. When people attacked other shows like Mr Robot...I said the same thing...

This thread is for series discussion...

If you say a show is bad and I think otherwise, I can as well ask you why you think so...

Most of the time I trash on series or movies or even normal criticism that I gave The Fall of the House of Usher...did I not outline all my criticisms?

I rated it highly but still outlined many problems in it.

Some people defended it but I also pointed out more issues I didn't like with it...and they also helped clarify some stuff from the source material...

Someone here trashed on a show...is it wrong for me to ask him why he said that??

If tomorrow I watch Oppenheimer and say it's bad...
Is it wrong for you to ask me why I think so?
And that way I can outline my reasons and we discuss

For me, if you say a show is bad and you cannot defend your words when called upon for it...then that is weird

The Wire. Remember?

Your mouth dey flow then on top something wey you never watch but now you're claiming "objectivity" on someone else's entertainment. Something wey person use him data watch and him no like am. Cos it's your favourite show now you won't let people hear word and start claiming he must defend his opinion.

This life no con funny like dis. grin grin grin grin grin
did I shît talk The Wire?

I didn't review or say The Wire was good or bad...

I said I had checked several reviews hoping for a reason to propel me to watch it...but saw nothing that propelled me to watch it...

The Wire is not the kind of show I'm into (from the little I know)...that is why I needed a reason to watch it...

I did not tràsh on The Wire. Your yourself admitted I didn't...

So how can you compare the situations

I haven't seen the movie but I'm curious....

Have you even rated a movie or show 10/10?

Curious cos your rating system always feels weird. It's almost as if you are looking for perfection from a medium where perfection cannot exist

BB is probably the worst analogy to use in this scenario because quite a number of people found BB, "boring" and didn't care for the carefully written character development, and they had very valid reasons too, might not be a popular take, but it is still a take.

That's why art continues to be a subjective phenomenon, and him saying "Mikasa" is the only thing he liked in AOT is valid and if you press him further, he might give you reasons. You are so objective in your stance, because perhaps you like AOT a little too much.
while I agree that art is subjective...I believe there is some level of objectivity to it.

A show like Breaking Bad for example is objectively good...what is subjective is how good it is ....

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of a show...but others are also entitled to call them out for it...
And to ask them to defend that opinion

If you say Breaking Bad is a terrible show, then you should be able to defend that statement...
Same way if you say there is nothing good in AOT aside Mikasa, you should be able to defend that statement

That's my opinion on this matter

My take was personal. Criticism is subjective
sorry but this excuse doesn't fly.

If you watched Breaking Bad and said it was the worst show ever and is at most a 1/10 show...

Do you think you wouldn't be called out for it?

Netflix I'm on my knees, don't fvck this up

The cartoon literally made my childhood

I fit cry if Netflix messes this adaptation

The only confidence I have in this show stems from the fact that Netflix did a great job adapting One Piece for live action.
difference is Oda supervised One Piece and even set boundaries not to be crossed. Every change they made had to be sanctioned by Oda

His rule 1 was even to avoid any romance between crew members.

On the other hand, the original producers for Avatar left the production for creative differences...

abduleez1:
One profound thing I found relating to the show. While it might be easily relegated to rituals, selling soul to the devil if we were looking at it from a Nigerian societal perspective, it goes way beyond more than that and more on the innate life choices made by man.

While each death could have been much less violent than what Death dished out (except Lenore's) depending on their choices, it clearly shows the singularity of how a decision sways future events.

Arthur Pym's final decision hammers this point the more. Just reinforces the notion that "each person ALWAYS has a choice" in the end.
On the choices, it shows the consequences of choices made decades ago...

How a simple choice they made then shaped their lives and their generation.

At that time, they had overlooked it...or rather underestimated it's consequences...

Or how much suffering those consequences would bring forth to them and their loved ones...

The only issue to me at that point is that because they didn't fully understand how serious that choice was, you could argue that they were manipulated...

You could argue they made an innocent decision because at that point, despite what they experienced, they never fully believed the woman they met that night. It was a strange encounter to them...

Details like these are the reasons I tell people to watch AOT at least 2 or 3 times...

You cannot appreciate the show well if you haven't seen it like thrice.

I saw it several times but didn't notice this till someone pointed it out on twitter
