Car Talk7 Ways To Identify A Lagos-based Danfo Driver by BaesDiary(op): 7:25pm On Mar 31, 2017
The staple mode of commercial transportation in and around Lagos (prior to the emergence of BRT) happens to be the Danfo a.k.a Vanagon. Its unmistakable yellow color (with black stripes) usually comes saddled with an unmistakable personality known as the 'Danfo Driver,' whom are also referred to as 'Pilot' by Lagosians.

The following are the 7 unmistakable traits they can be identified with:

1. He never uses traffic indicators, rear and side view mirrors when driving or changing lanes.

2. He speeds up the moment other drivers try to overtake him for no good reason.

3. He has astounding knowledge of alternative backroutes to avoid traffic.

4. He considers having a legitimate drivers' licence a luxury.

5. He thinks going to a driving school a waste of money and precious time.

6. He sees using curse words as exchanging pleasantries.

7. He would rather settle authorities than sort his vehicle registration papers, and have them at hand.

Do you know any any other unmistakable traits they have? feel free to tell us in the comments box.

CrimeCynthia Osokogwu And Tope's Death: Are We Still In The Days Of Ignorance? by BaesDiary(op): 6:39pm On Mar 30, 2017
It was indeed a sad day as a student of University of Lagos, identified as Tope, residing in the well-known Moremi Hall of the University.

Report showed that Tope went to a club with an unknown man. Not long after she came back, she started gasping and gave up the ghost. Sad indeed!

What then come to mind was the case of CYNTHIA OSOKOGWU, the young lady who was lured from Abuja to Lagos by her supposed Facebook friends who wanted to do a business with her. She was lodged in an hotel, raped and killed by these men. Personally, I think this should have been a lesson to every one out there on the dangers of meeting people on social media. True, some relationships have started and blossomed via social media, but how can we tell who is real or not? Should one learn the truth in the grave?

Tope isn't in this world anymore, I believe security agents are investigating on this and the culprit (most likely a ritualist) would soon be caught and arrested, just like the killers of Cynthia were eventually caught up with and sentenced to death. But, will this return them to their loved ones?

What then can we do? Its high time parents sensitize their children, especially the girl child on the dangers of going out/meeting strangers especially on social media.

Ladies, remember that its a wicked world, and some people who go miles to destroy others in a bid to accrue wealth. Kidnappers and ritualists are disguised as good looking men in this era.

BE CAREFUL OF WHO YOU GO OUT WITH,
BE CAREFUL OF WHOM YOU GIVE YOU DETAILS TO,
BE CAREFUL OF THE COMPANY YOU KEEP,
BE CAREFUL OF THE PLACES YOU GO.

Jobs/VacanciesExpert Vs Experience: How I Dealt With My Old School Boss by BaesDiary(op): 11:51am On Mar 30, 2017
My education was rather fast considering I was the youngest among my peers.  I got a degree in Acccounts by the age of 19. As at that time hiring younglings without experience wasn't the trend. I picked up a job for 35k/m as a business consultant for a smallish company in the area I worked for Oga ( Not his real name obviously).
So I'm fresh with a degree in Accounting with a couple professional certificates and  working a pretty decent job. Oga and I seemed to get along, the only problem is he's...an old school product, who loved cutting corners and costs as much as possible to stay stable .  They cut costs, which in turn cut demands,  further killing the  business,  we had to expand our areas  just to break even. I didn't have too much of an issue with it, because where he'd offer his 'experience' in business, I'd offer expertise from an Accounting point of view, and much of the time, my ideas produced far better results.

You'd imagine Oga would be happy to have me on his team, but that wasn't even remotely the case. So he removes me from major projects and onto minor ones, where the commission isn't as great, and the businesses are already touching the floor of their pockets in cost cutting, so it's almost impossible to turn it around as people keep leaving the area because they've drowned in debt. But that wasn't the issue that got to me. Oh, no. We're talking about a six figure contract now, and he assigns me to work on it because we recently lost a senior analyst. This is my chance, right? So I work with this business for months straight, and slowly, what started as a 20% quarterly loss turned to 10%, then breaking even, before finally turning a profit. By extension that meant a good bonus for me right? Wrong.  After the latest quarterly report pegged their growth at around 5%, they started recording negatives again.
Why? Because my Oga went behind my back and started offering his own consultation. His strategy: Sack some staff, bring in contract workers for half the pay and reduce machine maintenance to save money. So they implemented the strategy and fell behind. Oga went ahead to blame it on me, and my "unpractical textbook approach" and my "naivete." I realized  that he had been reviewing my work, then replacing my suggestions and analysis with his own.

In line with Oga's suggestion, they had sacked  half of their work force, who knew what they were doing by then, and replaced them with contract workers who...didn't know what they were doing. This led to higher losses than they've ever experienced, and they were mad. They wanted blood, and they blamed me for their company's negative turnaround.

Romance7 Questions From Emamuzo's Marriage To Two Women Simultaneously by BaesDiary(op): 6:57pm On Mar 29, 2017
Recently, a man named Emamuzo from Isoko LG of Delta state got married to two women - Janet and Osioni at once!

Personally, when the above picture surfaced on the internet, I felt it was some kind of photoshop. But before we knew it, the pictures of their traditional wedding were thrown in our faces.....

You could see the proud Emamuzo, flanked by his women. He certainly looked happy and satisfied. I am sure he felt like a king on that day. Then, certain questions which came to mind include:

1. Will there not be a form of jealousy between these women in the long run?

2. Is it possible for this man to  love these women equally?

3. What was the reason for this kind of marriage? We know people get married to more than one wife, but not simultaneously.  Were the two of them pregnant for him and he just had to marry them?

4. Are the women truly happy with this kind of arrangement?

5. Do they truly love and accept themselves? We all know no woman appreciate the existence of the another woman in her husband's life.

6. How will the wedding night be? Are they going to share same bedroom on that night?

7. Lastly, are we in the last days?
Isaiah 4:1 of the Holy Bible says 'In the last days, seven women shall take hold of one man saying 'we will eat our own bread and and wear our own clothes, only let us be called by your name, take away our reproach.'

These questions beg some answers, drop them in the comment box.

RomanceThe Day My Potential Husband Disowned Me! by BaesDiary(op): 7:51pm On Mar 28, 2017
I met the dude during valentine o, at a spa in Gbagada. He actually came with a gal, but from the look of things, they were not dating, because he admired me while the gal was with him and all that. A while later, the gal left. Then he walked up to me and ask for my digit. I didn't want to give him at first, but dude was adamant. I sha said OK. I gave him and we started chatting on Whatsapp and BBM. He calls some times and I started liking him.

One day, he called me and asked for recharge card. He said he wanted to do an online recharge, but there was no internet connection. I wasn't happy with that, because I hate being a maga, I had never asked him for anything, so I don't understand why he felt it just easy to request for airtime. I sha sent him 500 naira airtime.

Fast forward to 3 weeks, he called me that he was in one lounge, not far from my place. He asked me to come around. I went there. He asked me to order, but I should not buy too much, as he wasn't with too much cash. I pitied him and ordered food and drinks around 8k. He started complaining, saying things like 'was it a crime I invited you over?', 'Will you be able to finish this food?' etc. At this point, I was pissed off, but I remained calm.
I silently ate my food, asked him if he wasn't going to order for his, he said he was fine. As I opened the pack of juice, he took a cup and poured for himself, then he poured another. I was shocked, but I still kept calm. After the meal, he asked about my school and all.

After some minutes, I told him I wanted to leave, and he was like we should go to his place to have a heart-to-heart talk. I told him we could discus it right there, he said he doesn't like discussing future plans in the open. Future lounloun!

I stood my ground. When he saw how adamant I was, he let me be. Then, he asked for a good night kiss. I told him I was already exhausted. Dude flared up and started causing a scene. In his words, 'you chop my money, no wan do me well.'

I was embarrassed. Some dudes came over to ask what was the issue. From their heights, to their body mass, you could tell they were bouncers. He quickly narrated how I 'chopped' his money, but wasn't willing to cooperate.

'Is that so?' The bouncer asked.

I answered in the affirmative. Before they could say a word, I quickly told them how I sent him recharge cards some weeks back. Before my guy could say a word, I busted into tears and told them how I had sent him 10000 naira recharge card, while I only ate 8000 naira food. Dude started screaming curse words.

'Oga, calm down,' the bouncers yell.

'Oya, settle her the remaining 2k,' they ordered.
Dude opened his mouth, no words came out. He mumbled some words, but was met by the stern eyes of the bouncers that screamed 'you wan die?'. Dude became helpless. He opened his wallet and brought out a 500 naira note.

The bouncers wanted to talk, but I told them it's fine. I collected the 500 naira, thanked the bouncers and cat-walked away.

'Stupid gal,' I heard him muttered.

As we were about to get to the junction where the police are stationed, the driver quickly told the passenger in the front seat to use his seat belt. The driver also put on his, and he drove on. This inspired me to wrote this piece. read on......

1. You are driving. You see the Road safety officials, but that's when you know you are supposed to put on your seat belt. Are they supposed to be your reminder to using the seatbeat? Are seatbelts not meant for your own safety?

2. You buy new clothes, just because you want to put up pictures on instagram/Facebook pictures ONLY. I thought we buy clothes to adorn ourselves and look beautiful.....

3. You eat out at big restaurants after collecting your salary, and you spend your money on irrelevant items, only for you to soak garri mid-month. My brother, why are you doing this to yourself?

4. Your parents took loan, just to send you to school. You got to the school and joined #bad gang. Why can't you face your studies and make your parents proud?

5. I am at your stall to buy your goods. We began bargaining. You told me 'e no gree'..... only for me to walk some distances, and you start screaming 'aunty, come pay.' Must you stress your customers? #ayam not understanding#

6. You are 16 years old this year, you are 16 years old the following year. In the next 3 years to come, you are still 16. #I can't keep calm on this.

7. You claim you love her, but pressure her to get down with you. Haba! Haven't you heard that True love waits?

FamilyMother's Day: 7 Ways To Appreciate Your Mom! by BaesDiary(op): 5:32pm On Mar 24, 2017
I love my mom! I'm sure almost everyone one does. Mothers are great, they are like buttons, they hold everything together. Only a mother can sacrifice her food, her money, her sleep and even her life for her children. It's said that nothing can be compared to a mother's love, and absolutely, that's true. Did you read the story of the woman who entered a wrong taxi with her baby? Unknowingly to her, she boarded ritualists cab. They snatched her baby from her, and pushed her out of a moving vehicle. But this brave mother held on to the doors of the vehicle, while the vehicle dragged her along, whilst she was on the ground, with the screams of 'my baby!' Luckily for her, the police gave the car a chase, and her baby was rescued. Oh, the bruises on the woman's body! That's mother's love for you!

Mother's day is this Sunday. It's a day to celebrate and appreciate our mom's for the great works they have been doing, since the time we have been conceived. Yes, this day isn't enough to appreciate them, but trust me, going out of your way on this day to say a 'thank you mom' would go a long way.

Here are things you can do for you mom to appreciate her.

1. Take her out
You could take her out to the eatery for a lunch date, spa or movies.

2. Buy her Jewellery
If she wears them, adorn her with beautiful ones, she would appreciate it.

3. Write her a note
Write out all of your emotions on a paper. Tell her how great a mom she is. Let her know you appreciate all that she does for you, thank her and pray for her.

4. Visit her
If you don't stay with her, probably because you now have your immediate family. Take your kids with you and visit her. Spend the day with her, talk to her and let the kids have fun with grandma.

5. Buy her kitchen utensils
Most mothers love the kitchen. Hence, you could get her new kitchen utensils and appliances, she'd love them.

6. Buy her clothes
Most women have obsession with new clothes. Buy her new clothes, you could go for the ones in-vogue.

7. Hampers
Hampers are not just Christmas gifts, you could give her on mothers' day. Hampers may contain beverages, chocolates, packed food items etc.

We love your comments! Tell us what you are doing for mom on Mother's day.
