Who told you dollar has anything to do with this?
You can change naira to cefa at the border to buy food in Benin republic then pass through custom clearance to bring it in when government opens the border for food

We import rice from South east Asia, not Benin Republic please.
Politics / Re: Food Crisis: Reopen Land Borders, Kano Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf Urges Tinubu by bahaushe1: 7:08pm On Mar 11
Reopening land borders won't change anything. Importers will have to source dollar in order to import.

Our problem isn't that of supply, it is that of a weak naira.

Politics / Re: What The Labour-Party Must Do Urgently, (With Respect To The Electoral-Act-2022) by bahaushe1: 6:32pm On Mar 01
BluntCrazeMan:

In the Imo-Kogi-Bayelsa election of November-2023,, the party-agents were being stopped by the state-sponsored security forces.

So,, tell me what the party-agents are supposed to do when they were being stopped by gun-wielding military-men and policemen.

You are right. There could be violence in the lower collation points.

Such violence can be carefully captured and reported at the next collation point.
Politics / Re: What The Labour-Party Must Do Urgently, (With Respect To The Electoral-Act-2022) by bahaushe1: 10:01am On Mar 01
BluntCrazeMan:
Thank You Very Much Bro..
This is the type of response I have been waiting for.

Most Ward/RA Collation Officers don't do this.
TRUST ME..
Imo-&-Kogi of November 2023 is still a very recent example..
This is exactly why I stated that the LP should take it to the court,, so that it becomes stamped and properly established, without having some officers disobeying it.
(I don't even want to entertain any fear or doubt, whether the number of accredited voters captured inside the BVAS-machines can be altered or increased by the handlers of the BVAS-Machines -- eg. RATECH)

This is exactly what the Electoral-Act-2022 stipulated in Section: 51-(2).
But many Ward/RA collation officers don't cancel anything. They would just continue collating the wrong values like that.
(Like I typed earlier,, I don't want to entertain any fear or doubt, whether the number of accredited voters captured inside the BVAS-machines can be altered or increased by the handlers of the BVAS-Machines -- eg. RATECH)

You and I know that if there are NO DISPUTES,, then, all these things you stated here are not necessary, and they won't apply...
Right??

Now,, what if the Lower-Level Collation Officers didn't settle any of the rising disputes at their levels of collation,, and they kept telling the PARTY-AGENTS that “All the disputes would be settled by the Returning Officer during the final collation...”,, THEN TRUST ME,, at any stage where the disputes arise, whoever that is the collation-officer at that point must apply Section: 64-(6); Section: 64-(7); & Section: 64-(8.)..
Read these Sections up,, especially Section: 64-(6).
That is where you will see it clearly, that if need be,, then the INEC-NATIONAL-RETURNING-OFFICER Might have to actually start going through the whole of all the 176,000+plus BVAS-Machines in order to do the RE-COLLATION all-over again.
(Read Section: 64-(7) of the Electoral-Act very well..)

The Party-Agents were being barred and prevented by gun-wielding military men and police from entering the Ward/RA collating centers and LGA Collation Centers..

So,, this thing you wrote here is very difficult.

Why are the military men and policemen preventing some party-agents from entering the collation center,, and then allow the agents of some other parties to enter??

Summary
The fault is that of the political parties, not the electoral act. There is nothing much court can do.

Get agents at every point of the electoral process. Train them about the guidelines of the election. Tell them what do to.
Politics / Re: What The Labour-Party Must Do Urgently, (With Respect To The Electoral-Act-2022) by bahaushe1: 8:23pm On Feb 29
Op doesn't seems to have ever participated in election in Nigeria.

You just wasted your time, there is nothing to go to court about.

2. What every Ward/RA collation officer does is to ask PO to query the BVAS of his PU. The collation officer than cross check all the necessary information on the device before commencing the process of collating the result of that PU.

3. There a PO present result that contradicts the information on BVAS, he is asked to go and reconcile. If he is unable to reconcile, the ward collation officer help him do that. If reconciliation is not possible and there is glaring error between what is presented and what is contained in BVAS, the result is cancelled.

4. It is not possible to verify and confirm information on BVAS at every point of collation. The information on each BVAS relate to individual PUs while at LGA collation results are collated based summation from Ward/RA. How could one then get information about a ward/RA from BVAS when a ward/RA can have over 10 PUs? Now, think of what would happen at state and national collation. INEC, the chief returning officer for presidential election, would have to go through ALL the BVAS used in the election all over the country before making declaration and return.

5. It should be the duty of political parties assign agents to all PUs and collation centers. You cannot fail to provide agents at all the PUs across the country and then ran to Abuja shout rigging. PUs issues should be addressed by PUs agents. Ward/RA collation issues should be addressed at ward/RA center. LGA collation issues should be raised and addressed there.

You go explain tire, base on the previous judgments unless NNPP denied sponsoring Abba GIda Gida as their candidate, there is no known law that can remove him.

Tinubu has finished us as a country

It is the other way round, NNPP has to prove to the court that it sponsored him and that he is its member, according to S177 of the Constitution.

Unfortunately, Abba and NNPP couldn't present anything to the court to prove that despite the plethora of documents at their disposal. They wasted their time on documents that cannot be given any legal value.

This wan not the only basis. The most serious is the unsigned ballot papers of about 136,000. So stop dwelling on the other one as the only basis for his removal.
The issue is "qualification". Once a candidate is not qualified to contest an election, whatever votes (valid or invalid) he scores become a waste, in the eyes of the law.

So, it will amount to waste of time to determine whether or not some of the votes he scored are valid.

“A May 26 Supreme Court ruling also says rival parties have no right to question the validity of the internal decisions made by other parties unless they can prove that they suffered demonstrable harm as a result of the internal decisions another party took. So, the Kano governorship election tribunal’s verdict on this issue will be as dead as a dodo upon appeal.”

1) It was his "qualification" to contest the governorship election that was challenged according to S177 of our Constitution and S134 of the Electoral Act 2022. This gound has effectively transformed the issue from an "internal party affair" to a constitutional matter upon which the courts have jurisdiction and the opponent (APC and Gawuna) could suffer damage substantially if the issue is adjudicated upon.

2) Neither Abba nor NNPP could present valid oral or documentary evidence to the court that Abba was indeed a member of NNPP at the time of the election and was sponsored by same, despite the presence of plethora of documents at their disposal. They resorted to presenting manipulated documents, which the court rejected.

3) What happened in Kano is as result of share negligence of Kwankwaso, Abba, NNPP, INEC, and their lawyers.

Find time to read the judgment of the tribunal please.

Ribadu lacks the knowledge, training, education & experience in domestic, foreign, & military policies related to national security.

Most of the directors and other senior staff of the NSA are military men, will ribadu dismiss them? or place them under his command as a civilian?
Ribadu is also politician who took part in the APC primaries in the last election, he still have his political ambitions intact and remains a politician....a card carrying member of the APC.

Fingers crossed

The president of the country, who is also the C-in-C, is a "bloody civilian". The military must learn to accept superiority of civil authorities over them.

Nigerians are funny. In this country, any office is as powerful as the president wants the holder of that office to be.

Tunde Sabiu was just a personal assistant to Buhari, but he was more powerful than the Vice President, Senate President, NSA, and service chiefs combined.

Just as Obasanjo's Senior Special Assistant on Domestic Matters (Andy Uba) was the most powerful in his government.

Considering how much Ribadu seems to have ingratiated and enmeshed himself into this BAT's sinister inner caucus, of course he would likely be more powerful than all the service chiefs combined. Not necessarily because he is the NSA, but because HE is the NSA.

Remember the massive difference between Abba Kyari as Chief of Staff and the Kwara diplomat Gambari as Chief of Staff. It's never about the office, but always about the person occupying the office.

Op was seeking a statutory answer, not a Nigerian aberration.

The hospitals in Nigeria aren't equipped ;Yes. So also the airports, seaports, the roads are bad etc but if the country manages to train you to become a doctor it behoves on you to manage to practice there.

helinues:

The oppositions are missing something important in their narration.

Okay let's assume transmitting of results electronically is mandatory, is displaying of the transmitted results on INEC public portal is also mandatory?

Because I believe before all the results were announced, the results must have been transmitted to INEC back up server which only they have access to, after verification of both results transmitted electronically and the one about to be delivered physically, then they update the public portal.

If there is no law making transmitting of results electronically mandatory in the Inec public portal, then the petition about electronic transmitting would be quashed so early as the opposition argument is about results in public portal

The electoral act has provided for verification and confirmation of results from PUs at RA collation center. It is therefore not possible to allow public access to result that is subject to verification and confirmation.

The plan by INEC is for POs to scan and upload the result sheet but the result will not be visible to the public until it is presented, verified, and confirmed by RA collation officer. At that point, the RATEACH will approve the uploaded result and thus making it visible to the public.

If mistakes are detected at RA collation center, those mistakes are corrected and the form rescanned and re-uploaded.
