Gaming is a sin and where is it written in the Bible or Quran? You guys talk as if you are there when God was saying it. What I believe and understanding is that anything you do and your conscience is not please is a sin for those that still have consciousness oo and when I said conscience, I mean the fear of God but anything you do and you feel please within your heart is not a sin.

In the past three or four thousand years ago or so, God called Moses to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt and progressively gave him his life-giving laws which Moses faithfully recorded and passed down to us.

These laws explain God's will, it regulates our conduct, it guides and instruct us in the way we should go, but the laws are not exhaustive in and of themselves. They don't cover every nitty-gritty of our conduct or our daily lives.

I would give you an example. There was no law that instructs the Jews on what happens or on what they were required to do when a man dies without a male son. It wasn't until the daughters of Zelophedad (a man who had five daughters) approached Moses with a petition that the Lord's will on the matter became very clear. Before then, there was no law.

But if women inherited properties because their father had no male offspring and they get married, it would cause another problem in the Year of Jubilee, so the heads of the clans of Makir brought Zelophedad daughter's inheritance quagmire before Moses to know God's will. It wasn't until they complained that God's will became known on the matter.

Now, my question to you is this. If a bunch had complained before Moses that they want to know God's will on this matter: whether it is right to use the resources God has given them to make predictions of future events in the hopes that they make more money, what would God have ruled?

I have many things to say to you but answer this first.

The Urim and Thummim were sacred lot worn or used by the High Priest (don't know how it is used) to inquire of the LORD or to know his will.

The Jews of ancient times used it to know what God wants them to do or to know his WILL in time. David, for example, used it quite often.

They are not for predictions. The sacred lots do not predict; they tell.

There is a big and marked difference between the two, sir.

In fact, God does not predict anything. He simply tells. Absolute foreknowledge. Divine prerogative!

Now, as to whether gambling is a sin, it actually is.

But we are not ready for this discussion today.

You know as well as I do that gambling is a sin. God does not approve that his people resort to predictions to get by and make ends meet.

There's no point doing that. You don't know whose heart God will touch to quit. Just because you and I have a heart of stone does not mean that everyone does. To be frank, I wouldn't stop betting, at least not for now.

It is not hypocrisy in a sense because you know as well as I do that it is wrong, but we still bet. Should we say then that all of us are hypocrites? If you have a kid brother who is thinking of gambling, wouldn't you tell him the same thing Monsuru is saying even though you gamble?
