Eldee, Diarra and Denilson are not the same kind of midfielder - Denilson is more creative while Diarra is a holding man (think Essien and Makalele). If Diarra is firing on all cylinders, he WILL displace both Flam and Bert - His passing is more complete that Berto, and he's definitely a more physical presence than Flam. |
I think they'll start Diarra ahead of Denilson. And personally, I see Diarra displacing Flamini in the near future, but we'll see how that plays out. |
I sincerely doubt that England will be an easy ride. |
Why does he think we wish the worst for England? Actually, we pray fervently for England to qualify. We don't want the likes of Rooney, Gerrard and Fat Frank relaxing while our boys are playing the UEFa nations cup |
Men, why will anyone say Eboue is poop? I agree he hasn't been in the best of form this season, but have y'all forgotten Eboue "pocketing" Ronaldo, and later on Nedved? That said I'll not quite place him ahead of Lennon just yet - He hasn't yet come into his own as an attacking midfielder yet. |
Why not go all the way. No non-english players. No non-english Managers (goodbye fergie). No non-english club owners (so long Roman, as chelsea heads quickly to the championship). All this Xenophobia must stop. |
I agree Chuck, the english seem to have a lot of pride and no heart. They are so far removed from the valiant and humble english sprit we were brainwashed with back in school. That said, the UK is my adopted home, and ANY british team that qualifies will have my support in one form or the other. And yes, I did support the UK during the last world cup, except wheh they played against trinidad |
I think Aderogba (Drogba) said something similar, |
I agree in part Christino, but a good manager is supposed to manage and provide cover for all positions in his team, and also make allowances for injury. |
Somze, it's all a matter of profile. Look at it this way: If manU plays Cheslea and wins (again), people aren't too surprised - It's ManU If Derby plays Chelsea and wins, the press will have a field day. More is expected of Mourinho, after all, he won the UCL. Grant didn't. Don't speak as though Grant and JM are peers, we all know they aren't. The fact that Grant is still getting some wins out of the team makes us wonder how hard it really was for JM. |
Hey Somze. I think you have generalised my theory in a slightly strange way. What I said was that your finances are directly related to your ability to win competetions. I'll clarify that a bit: If JM had coached the old chelsea, before Roman's billions, can you honestly say they would have won anything, save perhaps an FA cup and maybe a shield? Be honest now and consider. Of course it's not just money, it's a combination of deep pockets and a good coach. However, with the right sum of money, an "above average" coach can be made to look outstanding. With regards to no longer being contenders, this started before JM left. Villa drubbed Chelsea 2-0 while JM was still in charge, so it's not all AG's fault. Oh btw, controversial losses are losses, so can we please not mention that. let's just say Chelsea has never won the UCL. |
No, no no no Somze! Whether you like it or not, there is a DIRECT relationship between the money at your disposal and your ability to win competetions. I didn't say JM was lucky (or bla bla bla), what I said was that AG was also producing results. It could very well mean that AG is as well special. And yes, I do need you to explain how my theory is false, |
Men, I still insist that JM had every manager's dream. SAF in that condition would have won the triple party (i.e. won the triple 3 times in a row). The fact that AG has actually performed at Chelski indicates one of two things: either AG is a better manager than we give him credit for, or JM really wasnt as good as we thought (It's the team that's good). Your guess is as good as mine, |
It hurts me to say this, but Jackal has got it spot on in that last post. |
Adebayor could easily have had a hat-trick yesterday. |
I-man, how about Anelka? I believe we can get him on a Bozman's in January? |
Loyika - I totally agree. I watched the Sunderland/ Newcastle game this weekend, and I tell you, Kenwyn Jones is as tall as Ade, runs quite fast, and has one hell of a hot shot. He's also extremely physical, and is possesed of a killer header. He'll definitely jump at the idea of crossing over to Arsenal (and it'll be sweet to steal a player from Keano). There's also Anelka, not so young, still very fast, and clinically accurate with his shots on goal. I actually rate Anelka well beyond Torres, but that may be erronous. |
I-man, are you seriously asking me that question? Of course, if we lose today, then fail to win our game in hand then you guys will definitely be the best team at the moment. |
Loyika, I think Henry of the present would be the best player in the team if he were with us now, even with the team playing in the awesome way they're doing. However, his depature has been very good for the others. The same applies to jens, who in my opinion is a far better keeper than Almunia - his dynamic is simply not good for the team. The fact is that Wenger needs either to improve Almunia and Adebayor, otherwise buy an "industry standard" keeper and striker. World class. |
Ade reminds me of Heskey. Great backup player, all his teammates like playing with him, his opponents HATE playing against him. But totally unreliable as a lone striker. |
I-man: Very well written! Well, apart from the part where you couldn't help yourself and had to take a swing at Arsenal. |
The special one http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article333240.ece A pal of 34-year-old Elsa said: “They did very saucy things together. Mourinho is a very sexual man. He particularly likes making love to Sting.” Sounds, gay |
I-man can't count! Last 3 games are draws? What about the sheffield united game? Where are you, Mr 3-0 is a draw ![]() |
Men, I feel y'all as per Song |
Chuck, I thought Gilberto was starting in midfield, with Song covering Toure's position? |
Congrats to Liverpoo, they have now "almost" qualified for the UEFA cup. |
I-man you're beginning to sound like a broken record. Oh, and I never said no 7 jersey. And you're also not the "objective elderly football analyst" you always claim to be. |
Hey Chuck, remember what I said about people who pick one mistake and dwell on it for the rest of their lives? Aha I-man, the so-called "neutral" of football analysis. Now you're drilling into the realm of semantics. It all depends on the range/period over which you take your measurement. I chose to use the ENTIRE season as my measurement. You choose to use only the recent matches. So we have an impasse, in my opinion I'm correct, in yours you're correct. So we agree to disagree. We don't need to start name-calling, like SAF did after the Emirates game. And I never predicted that Manu wd get relegated, I said it satirically. Unfortunately you seem to have a problem telling the difference between what I say to wind people up, and what I mean. |
Chuck, remember to be above their rants. The moment you start talking like them, you descend to their level last season, Manchester United won the league because they were the most consistent. Arsenal beat Manu home and away, yet manU still won. In the same way, whether or not Chelski beats citeh 25-nil, Citeh has been winning more consistently than Chelski, and if the league were to end today, Citeh will be rated higher. I'm quite surprised I-man doesn't agree with this. Please don't give me the impression that a seasoned analyst like you can't do better than quote people's typos. |
Naah, Chuck, no need to descend to that kind of level. We're gooners, we don't need to resort to "foul play" in order to win, |
Heh heh. I'm sure ManU, the most in-form team in the premiership was also firing on all cylinders. Dude, YOU were made to look ordinary. And so much for United's 4 goal scoring streak. Arsenal is happy because according to the tables (and they don't tell lies), we're ahead of Man U, with a game in hand. Check for yourself. |
