Lordi, I totally agree. We we soundly beaten by liverpool. My point is that it doesn't necessarily mean we will be beaten again this season as Jackal seems to imply.

MC Omo, which team do you support if I may ask?
This is how football works: If you perform, you get a starting berth. If you mess up, then you get benched. If Ade and Eddie start scoring 5 goals per game between them for the next few matches, then I assure you Van persie will be benched in their favour, unless they lose their form.

"Use and dump" as you say, has nothing to do with it, otherwise Pele should still be in the Brazillian squad.

Jackal, the fact that a team isn't great doesn't make them a small team. Arsenal for the past three seasons have been seeded for the champions league. This in my opinion makes us a good team.

Wayne Rooney hasn't disgraced Toure in any game that I have seen, not once. Scoring against Arsenal doesn't mean you disgrace Toure. Also scoring against Arsenal doesn't mean you win the game (See last season).

Man U is not known to play very well against robust midfields (See Manu V AC milan last season), so a robust midfield can easily break Manu down. And the Arsenal also relies on outgunning their opponents, that's why most times Arsenal v Man u games are excellent.

When did Liverpool beat Arsenal 4-1? Beginning of the season, when morale was high? Or end of the season when there was nothing to lose? Last season's defeat at Anfield is very different from this season, my good man.

I commend you on your win against villa - I rate them very, very highly. You've also beaten Chelsea. But the Arse is still to come, so don't even think you've won the premiership already.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 11:46am On Oct 23, 2007
Lordi, I totally agree. Some manu fans complain that we keep getting penalties, but that's simply because our players keep getting fouled. When Hleb breezes past Evra, naturally Evra will lash out and bam! penalty.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 11:44am On Oct 23, 2007
Jackal, I'm going to assume you're just having a laugh. Torres outrun Clichy? Torres outrun Toure? The next thing you're going to say is that Torres is as fast as Martins, Overmaars and Henry.

Man U is a great team, but we beat them twice last season. We can beat them again. I'll like to see "apache" operate against a holding midfielder like Flam, who also has strength. Rooney? Nah. He needs space, and he needs feeds. His strength is no good against Toure or Gallas. Neither is his space.

Ronaldo? Now he's definitely a threat. He can't outrun Clichy, but his trickery can be a problem against Clichy. He'll be no good against Sgana though.

In the end, this game is going to be won by teamwork, and NOT by individual skill.

Jackal, Amazing then that a small team beat Man U back to back last season init? And the Viewer has recorded more wins against Ferguson, despite United's 60,000 seater stadium, (now 70,000) and over 20 years of united having financial dominance over the sporting world.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 10:57am On Oct 23, 2007
Debo - just a quick addition. I saw Diarra play against Newcastle, and I felt he was as solid as Flamini/Bertie, while also having the passing skill of Fab/ Denilson. I think he is one player that can actually act in both roles - supporting the attack as well as a holding midfielder. A pure utility player.

One more thing I've noticed - Arsenal playes amazingly when we have Hleb and Rossy backing up Fab - once they're on the field, any defence that tries to concentrate on Fab soon gets overrun on the flanks by Hleb and Rossy. I consider Rosicky to be arguably our most technical footballer, while Hleb is the equivalent of Joe Cole - He can hold up the ball extremely well. He's also 6'1", so he's quite tall and pretty strong.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 1:31pm On Oct 22, 2007
TKB, surely this is below and beneath you. United scored, so it's a big deal. Arsenal scored, so it doesn't really count. TKB, it's one thing to be a devoted Man U supporter, it's another thing for you to demean another team's success.

Anyway, easy win or difficult, Arsenal still lies above Man U on the league tables, with a game in hand.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 11:16am On Oct 22, 2007
It'll be quite funny when we beat Liverpool, and increase the distance from Man U to 5 points. With a game in hand of course.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 10:50am On Oct 22, 2007
@ Jackal
Whatever. In the end, we are one position above Man U with a game in hand. So much for not conceding at home.

@Manu4:
I actually do have a lot of respect for united. Some of your fans do tend to say the most uninformed things, and have a really skewed view of reality though. Twists at the top of the table does not necessarily favour united - You guys can equally easily slip to 3rd position.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 10:17am On Oct 22, 2007
@Jackal
How many times has Man -u scored more than Arsenal in the premiership this season? Do you realise that Arsenal is the only team in Europe yet to concede a loss?

Make no bones about it, Arsenal is the most inform team in the league.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 9:58am On Oct 22, 2007
Ruudie, the point is that earlier on when Arsenal were scoring lots of goals and manu weren't, the manu supporters insisted that a clean sheet was worth more than many goals scored.

Yesterday, Arse didn't play well. Fab wasn't good, Adebayor wasn't good either. Result? 2-nil to the Arsenal. Yesterday man U had a fabulous game, yet they still conceded a goal.

Wenger v Ferguson - At a glance
P W D L F A
32 13 7 12 39 36

Wenger has beaten Fergie 13 times to 12. Scored 39 goals to Man u's 36.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 5:07pm On Oct 19, 2007
Razorr, this last outburst is just wrong. It's one thing not to be gay, it's a different thing to use phrases like "It's unheard of in my family to associate with Gay people"
That is simply quite discriminative. I have met loads of gay people in Naija and in the UK, and can tell you one thing - being gay is not enough to demonise people for. There's enough hate in the world as it is, without discriminating against people based on how they decide to live their lives.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 4:45pm On Oct 19, 2007
Jackie, that is selective, and gives a dodgy picture. Since Sep 2006, we have beaten Manure 2ce in the premiership. Before Aug 2002, we had 3 straight wins over Man U. Between Aug 2002 and Sep 2006, there were 7 games, 4 were draws. Before and after this period, Arsenal won regularly. Why do you shout about a period of almost 4 years where Manu only won 3 times?

@ Jackal
Oga, the same Eddie eased past Rio to score against england. History now, not conjecture. Also, do you think Vidic can match Adebayor for pace (I admit that he might match him for strength, )
Man U has been our nightmare. We accept. But we have hardly been a goodnight's sleep for Man u either. And injuries are a regular part of the season, so stop talking about them.

Razorr, faggish bodies? Oh you mean like fat frank? Crack like Indomie? Is that like JT's cheek (not to mention cashley's knee)
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 3:10pm On Oct 19, 2007
Debo, in my opinion, we need a replacement for Rosicky - he's a marvellous player, but his injuries are no good. Almunia is functional, we need a proper keeper like Sunderland's Craig Gordon. Also, I think we need to start using Bentdner a bit more - he was fantastic for Denmark during the international break, and he's always a threat to defences. I actually believe he'll be a handful in the air for the bigger defenders (J.Terry, Vidic)
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 3:07pm On Oct 19, 2007
Dear Brother Jackie and Sister Razorr,
how's you all doing? Thanks for asking about my son, sonny is doing good, his poop is nice and soft, and his cry is loud and strong (Think 300 the movie).

Jackie, I have a special place in my heart for Man U. Hate man U with a passion, but I hate them with a great deal of respect. Man U is my opinion is a team that has made itself. Last season, I cheered for Man U (against the ubiquitous Chelski fans who beset my neck of the woods). Can you believe I actually bought a Man U scarf!!? But that said, while the Arse hasn't done much in recent times, we're far from obituary material. RVP is out, yet we still have Eddie and bentdner, as well as Adebayor. Remember - Eddie scored a goal against England - your man Ferdinand was in defence,

Sister Razor, I tire for you o, my son's name is not Aderogba. I have already bought him the arsenal baby kit, complete with feeding bottle, teddy bear and his kit - which will b given him on his first birthday. We couldn't get diapers though - I hear Chelski is the only team in the premiership that has official diapers (I wonder whether it's because most chelski fans are full of poo). All is in cunning preparation for him growing up - we can't have a chelski/man U fan in the family now can we?
One more thing sister - the three Arse players who were apparently gay now play for West Ham, Liverpool and, well chelsea.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 12:10pm On Oct 19, 2007
I thought Razorr was a chelski fan? And she's complaining about a premiership team not having english players? Razorr dearie, you need to know your history.
I have only one thing to say to you: Agbolanhor!!!

Jackie. Oooh Jackie. Now you're saying we've never had a good november? I assume during our unbeaten run, we were thoroughly thrashed in November then?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only (Old) by Banderas(m): 10:59am On Oct 19, 2007
A-40, in typical neo-Arsenal style, Van P may come back from injury and have to fight for a position, with Bendtner Eddie, Walcott and Adebayor hitting massive form.

It's a great time to be a gooner.

PS - I just got my Arsenal membership pack in the post yesterday,

I totally agree with you man. Barry was amazing in my opinion, and he works well with Gerrard, and will probably work well with Lamps as well. The two of them (Gerrard and Lamps) should be subbed for each other, and Barry shouldn't be subbed for either of them.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by Banderas(m): 3:48pm On Oct 12, 2007
Jackal, you're RIGHT. I absolutely agree, Ronaldo to me was the best player I saw last season. However, I watched mainly the premiership last season, and the UCL matches the premiership teams played, so I really can't judge.

By the way - in your opinion, who should play beside Gerrard for England - Barry or Fat Frank?
