I understand that, the law was that way even then, but the issue wasn't that she didn't permit it on board the aircraft. The fact is that she knew there was another sealed one in the bag but she was ready to let that get on board. So it wasn't really a matter of her following the law now. She didn't like the idea of a black man with a half empty bottle. Even so she could have easily stated the law rather than ask a passenger to consume it in front of her, it shows her suspicion was beyond the law. It's called Racial Profiling.

And might I add, not all liquids are not permitted, some airports have a transparent bag and you are asked to place all liquids in it.

Updated: You were still racially profiled, even if it ended with a smile .
LOL! @ bolded. If you say so.
I get your point, though I know they usually advice people to consume/discard their drinks before the scanner.

I think its mainly toothpaste & mouthwash / drinks below a certain capacity, that goes in the plastic bag.

I don't know how long ago your case was, but nowadays you are not allowed to carry drinks (liquids) on board, especially for international flights.

Mine was when I was at boarder control at Frankfurt and after I had passed the metal detector, one of the ladies said she was going to confiscate my shirt.

O boy! My head wan scatter.

Then she smiled and said "I like your shirt. May the force be with you." I was wearing a Star Wars: TFA shirt and the movie was just released around that time. Na im my BP mellow small. Smiled back and wished her same.

FamilyRe: You Won't Believe What My Neighbor 5 Years Old Boy Said by barbiesparkz2(f): 9:13pm On Apr 14, 2016
A 5 year old is no longer just 'an ignorant child'.

I know when we were as little, we had such grand thoughts and asked 'big' questions but because we were shushed & told those things were beyond us, we grew up with the same mentality.

One difference btw us and the west is that their children can engage adults in meaningful conversation and ask thought-provoking questions without being talked down upon or told to 'keep quiet'.

Also, know that what a parent refuses to tell a child because they feel the child is too small, will be learnt from his/her friend wey don open eye.

Sorry for the late reply... been out all day.

Fees are stated in dollars:

Tier 4 visa fee = $467

Your reasons are genuine.
However there are some foreign scholarships that cater for tuition and living expenses but they are quite rare.

I also realized that to process some of these scholarship offers would require some reasonable investment of one's money - posting documents, applying for transcripts, ...

I look forward to your next chapter.

At least if things didn't work well here, your writing skills & determination might have earned you some goodwill abroad.

Let me know if you were able to make the payment because a lot of people are struggling to do so.
Finally...
I was able to make the visa fee payment of $542 using GTB MasterCard of a friend at a rate of N299/$1.

I was told the daily limit for transaction with this particular card was $1000 (don't know if this applies to all GTB cards).

UK embassy provided no helpful advice concerning my complaints in their response to my mail.

Thanks.

I think you should email the embassy about this, the two payments are different so can not be transferred.

Hopefully somebody with solution can help direct you on how to make the payment
Ok.

I googled and found these two email addresses:

visa.lagos@fco.gov.uk

Will send a mail asap.
Thank you.

Hello Justwise,

I have a little problem with payment.
I was able to pay for the IHS fee of $978 using my foreign debit card.
However, when I tried making payment for Visa application of $524, the transaction failed twice, despite my bank confirming that I had sufficient funds and saw no evidence of the attempted visa payment transaction.

I just want to know if the IHS fee I paid is transferable to a new application if the 3rd visa payment is not successful?
Also, do you have any suggestions about how to make progress here?

Thanks.

What I pick out is the fact that many are losing hope in the Nigerian dream, now more than ever.

Sometimes I want to believe that things will get better.
But for how long shall we continue to suffer while consoling ourselves, yet we're in the midst of diverse resources without an economic policy, framework or roadmap to act upon?

Check very well because the fee is £150 a year so in your case that should be £600.

They will use oanda exchange rate which is lower
True.
It says £150 per year initially but after putting in my details for Tier 4 General Student visa for 4 years, it amounts to £675 / $978.75.

Thanks for the reply.

You will be charged at the bank rate should i say atm rate. its usually somwhere between the cbn rate and the black market rate, bt its alot closer to the later. you can check abokifx.com for atm rates just to give you a rough estimate of the rate for diamond bank and other banks. you might evn find the rate that was charged for somone who used ur bank's atm on d same day u intend to use it.
Thanks a lot.

Hello Justwise,
I'm just about paying for the IHS & Tier 4 visa application for a 4-year programme.

The IHS payment page says $978 and I think the visa costs ~ $470.

Do you know if I will be charged at the official exchange rate of $1/N200 or my bank rate?
I'm using a Diamond Bank VISA card.

Thanks.
