FC Barcelona prepare for January onslaught FC Barcelona face an arduous start to 2016 with three derbies against Espanyol in less than 15 days, starting on 2 January at Power8 Stadium and ending with a last-16 tie in the Copa del Rey — first at Camp Nou, then in Cornellà-El Prat — in the days following. In between those two Copa games with Espanyol, Barça host Granada in league play — times are still unannounced — in what will be the final game of the season's first half. On top of that, Barça's week 16 game against Sporting Gijon is still pending as a result of a scheduling conflict with the Club World Cup. The Sporting game is expected to be played in mid-February. Four La Liga games at 4.00pm In addition to those games, Barça host Athletic Club in week 20 and play at Málaga in week 21. The Athletic game, set for 8.30pm, is Barça's only league game not set for 4.00pm during the month of January. FC Barcelona will then wrap up the month when they host Atlético de Madrid in week 22 on Saturday, 30 January. Two more Copa del Rey games? Should FC Barcelona knock their cross-town rivals Espanyol out of the last 16, Barça's calendar of games would rise to nine, as two quarter-final games would be appended to the agenda in the last fortnight of the year's first month. Barça's hypothetical last eight opponents would be drawn on 15 January.

Claudio Bravo, six titles in 2015 Since his arrival in the summer of 2014, Claudio Bravo has become a key figure in Luis Enrique’s team. Last season’s Zamora trophy winner, after conceding just 19 in 38 league games, has already broken several records in his short time at FC Barcelona. His 754-minute shutout streak at the start of last campaign broke the previous record set by Pedro María Artola in 1977/78. He also kept 23 clean sheets in 37 games, beating the 20 of Víctor Valdés (2004/05) and Andoni Zubizarreta (1988/89). The first three pieces of silverware for Bravo as a Barcelona player came in quick succession, as the side earned the Spanish league title, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League at the back end of last season. His quality and experience then played a pivotal role in securing his country’s first ever Copa America title, defeating Argentina on penalties in the final (4-1). Bravo’s year just kept on getting better, as the start of the 2015/16 started in the same manner as the last one ended. Barça won the European Super Cup in extra-time against Sevilla (5-4) and while the team was unable to win the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Club, there was more silverware to come. The recent Club World Cup success in Japan sealed Barça’s fifth and Bravo’s sixth title of the year, defeating River Plate 3-0 in the final. With all those trophies under his belt, Bravo surpasses PSG defender Sergie Aurier’s five titles in a year, but the record is held by the keeper’s teammate Dani Alves, who won seven in 2009.

Neymar is back in Barcelona. Upon his arrival at the city's Barcelona-El Prat Airport, he spoke about possibly signing a new deal with the Catalan giants. "Yes, we're already in talks over a new deal and I'm optimistic", said the striker initially, although, when asked about possibly leaving the club for the Premier League, he said: "I don't know, it's a long life". The Brazilian star said he feels "good" after recovering from the injury that saw him sit out the Club World Cup semi-final game and spoke of his ambitions going into 2016: "I hope to successfully defend all our titles next year, plus add that sixth one". I hope to successfullyNeymar thanked Ronaldinho for his praise and 'ignored' Pelé's criticism: "Ronnie is a legend, a star. He's the best Brazilian to ever pull on a Barcelona shirt. Pelé can say whatever he wants, I just talk about myself".
