SlyCharlie: Lol...man don't make me laugh... When did we start hearing of unillorin ?..... To start with FUTO is an all science school, unillorin is mixed.. But whenbit comes to the area of Engineering and Physical Sciences no School as much as coughs where FUTO is... except for recently FUTA. The leading school in Engineering in Nigeria for Yearsss,!!!!. U guys(unillorin can produce the best lawyers or pharmacist or journalist for all i care, but when it comes to where it matters most u guys dont come close.... A 2.1 student from FUTO is widely considered before any other esp. in engineering and sciences, u can go figure. Our many alumni in shell mobil and many other multi national corporations are testamount to that. So please next time dont u EVER, I repeat, EVER compare FUTO and unillorin in terms of academic excellence cos the difference is very clear.. . . Jusf because of recent developments in the school u want to come and challenge the big boys who have seen it all, am not sayin unillorin ain't a good school but dude chill some schools are veterans whenbit comes to the biz ok!. . Peace do i hear u say veterans when it comes to science and engineering. unilorin started its engineering faculty back in 1976. your kwashiorkor school was founded 1980. so chill do u even know the meaning of veterans. my broda it is will foolhardy of me to start a FUTO Vs UNILORIN argument because it is like comparing FUOYE to MIT NOTE: i cant keep quoting people with low exposure and orientation like you. Chairman it is better u leave imo state and take a tour around Nigerian Universities before u start posting gibberish here!! MUMU if your graduate dey shell and Mobil ours are the one recruiting ya half-baked graduates PEACE |

Yes this is what I'm talking about. It's time our public Universities stop beefing dier students o. Even Nigeria University students ain't helping the matter instead of fighting for better grades after putting so much effort, dey will be beefing odas that are given first class that they do not deserve it. Fact: A first class student is a first class student. First class cannot be mistaken |

marksooyinmiebi: let's get this fact right..ABU is in no way the biggest University in Nigeria talking about land mass. The University of Abuja is the biggest University in west Africa with a total land mass covering about 11,824 hectares. I know it doesn't change the price of garri in the Market nor the distance between my ears.. it's for reference purposes simple.
from Wikipedia:
The university as its mini campus in Gwagwalada , Abuja , Nigeria and a permanent site covering about 11,824 hectares located along the Kaduna - Lokoja - Abuja Road. The Permanent site is home to the Faculty of Arts, Science, Veterinary medicine, Agriculture, college of medicine and contains the university senate and other administrative building. The mini campus is still the temporary location to the faculty of social science, management, and law.

Education › Re: 9 Ways To Study For An Exam by baruzeez(m): 9:35pm On Oct 18, 2015 |
Oshovie: 1. Never rely on one source: like using one textbook or Wikipedia only. Use different sources.
2. Always understand every sentence, before moving on to the next one.
3. Do not be in a hurry while reading. A thing remembered is better than a hundred things forgotten.
4. Never cram. Rote memorization is dangerous. You will surely forget everything you cram.
5. After reading, try to explain everything you've read to yourself using different words. For example, if the textbook says that "biology is the scientific study of life and living things", you could say "biology is the science that studies life and living matter".
6. Try to visualize what you read. If you're reading about ecology, try to visualize a forest with animals therein.
7. Never be contented with any thing you know. Read about it somewhere else. The more you read about it, the less possible it will be to forget.
8. Important points or formulae could be written on the front page of your notebook.
9. Tell someone or something about what you've learned. It works for me. Just call someone or something, maybe a younger sibling or even a dog. Explaining it to someone makes you more confident in it. They may not understand, but it helps.
10. Question what you read. Don't just read, nodding your head along, and ingesting everything. Try to ask questions while reading. op just try engineering communication course and let me know why u will not cram |

Politics › Buhari And Mahama For Unilorin 40th Anniversary by baruzeez(op): 2:56pm On Oct 12, 2015 |
The University of Ilorin will set another record
next week when it hosts two sitting heads of
governments during its 40th Anniversary and
31st convocation ceremonies.
Announcing the programme of activities for the
two joint events in separate interviews with
Unilorin Bulletin last Tuesday (October 6, 2015),
the Chairmen of the 40th Anniversary and
Ceremonials Committees, Prof. Y. A. Quadri and
Prof. J. O. Atteh respectively, said that the
Nigerian President and Visitor to the University,
Muhammadu Buhari, and his Ghanaian
counterpart, who is also the Chairman of the
Economic Community of West African States
(ECOWAS), John Dramani Mahama, would attend
the Convocation ceremony on the institution's
Founder's Day (Friday, October 23, 2015).
The Ghanaian President is billed to deliver the
University's Anniversary Lecture entitled “Africa's
Agenda 2063: Ending Poverty and Ensuring
Prosperity in Africa”.
According to the two Committee Chairmen, the
activities for the ceremonies would kick off this
Friday (October 16, 2015) with a Special Juma'at
Service at the University Central Mosque at
1.00p.m. This would be followed on Sunday,
October 18, 2015 by a Special Church Service at
the Chapel of Light on the Main Campus at
10.00a.m.
Other highlights of the Ceremonies include the
investiture of the fifth Chancellor of the
University, HRH (Dr.) Abdulmumuni Kabir Usman,
who is also the Emir of Katsina, on Thursday,
October 22, 2015; a Convocation Lecture entitled
“Educational Reform and Nation Building in
Nigeria” to be delivered by Prof. Jacob Kehinde
Olupona of the Harvard University,
Massachusetts, USA; Award of Prizes, First
Degrees, Postgraduate Degrees and Diplomas;
unveiling of the Commemorative Book, “Unilorin
@ 40: The Soaring Eagle” as well as the
commissioning of about 22 new projects
executed by the University administration in the
last one year by the Visitor, President Buhari.
Prof. Quadri said that the University deserves
kudos for bringing in an international figure in the
person of the Chairman of ECOWAS, President
John Mahama of Ghana to deliver the 40th
Anniversary Lecture, noting that, “it shows that
the University of Ilorin is not a local university
but an international University by every standard;
so if an international figure addresses the
students, it attests to the fact that we are
actually an international University.”
The 40th Anniversary Committee Chairman said,
“We are preparing very hard to have a successful
celebration, all hands are already on deck, and
we are working hard to ensure that everything is
successful.”
On his part, the Ceremonials Committee
Chairman, Prof. Atteh, described the forthcoming
Ceremonies as “two-celebrations-in-one,”
observing that the University of Ilorin has come
of age.
Prof. Atteh said, “Our contemporaries, the
second-generation universities-where are they?
The University of Ilorin has come out of that
bunch. Not only did we leave them behind, we
caught up with many of the first generation
universities and we are competing and we are
better than even some of the first generation
universities…all the indications show that the
University of Ilorin has come of age and thank
God at 40, it is a wise University for which the
whole of the country accepts it.”
Pointing out that the University has quite a lot of
things to be proud of at 40, Prof. Atteh said, “It
is not just by the fact that we are stable and
peaceful, we also see that in terms of the human
and structural development, we have done very
well … and like the Vice-Chancellor will say, this
is credit to God that consistently, we have had
very good leadership in this University, and so we
are happy. And at 40, I think it is time to
celebrate where we are and to do more to get
further ahead.” |
