bros I agree with you with you said but if the nation is a good all this sending back home won't be a problem ,see our country no good and to squire admission no easy at all ,,as for people that finished with pass or third class its their own palava after all they will do post graduate and masters and that covers all their bad results in the university for u to know that Nigeria university system is bad ,look at wole Soyinka the great man of literature he finished with a third class could u guess his cgpa at the end of his 100 level it would be nothing to write home about.
My broda for people to have acquired 1.2-4 no be small thing for that kind unilorin ooo ,,,if they were to be in other schools dem cgpa go gara gan ooo and now you say go back home and start again,,,,,how many of unilorin graduate ave you seen that is making head way in the society since the induction of this 1.5 I can say it anywhere unilorin graduates r half baked graduates they can't compete among their pairs in unilag not to talk of OAU n U.I,,,,my broda the bottom line is unilorin is not helping Nigeria education system.
oga no vex me ooooo
if u dey vex no mean say u go dey talk say unilorin graduates be half baked oooooo
if unilorin Graduates are definition of half baked graduates. then there are no fully baked graduates in Nigeria.
and besides google it wole soyinka graduated with seccond class upper o

bros its not the same thing too,,its very different ooo,,,Cgpa is 1.0 and unilorin is 1.5 ooo and even if u r on 1 point at the end of year one you r in good standing and at the end of ur 200 level u will be advised to go to another department and if u can still maintain ur 1 point 1till final year you would be granted pass at the end of the day but unilorin is at the end of year one no1.5 it means u r going home, what unilorin ought to do is that they should run their own departmental test after post utme so as to fish out the students who won't be able to cope with their academic standard ,that would be nice and it Will help in solving the problem of crossing and in that way they will know that the students they admitted are capable of reaching 1.5 at the end of their 100 level session
that's what the school is doing now guy you sef no G.P no dey really rise for unilorin oo, actually the idea is more God than Harm

bros I know what you saying but pls try and get my point, bros not everybody is a scholar ooo and our brains r different from each other, how many first class r in your department that graduated? those r people that did d complete 4years,not many I guess ,is it that they r not brilliant or what? n even 2.2 n even third class itself.
Bros y u talking like this,so u saying the people that didn't reach 1.5 didn't read abi or they were playing while their mates where reading abi? you need to have attended the class and see how they were taught but bros I agree with you that for a 100 level students not to reach 1.5 is bad at the end of 1st year but common we are all not the same in terms of understanding things been taught to us ,my point is that people that didn't reach the required CgPa should be moved to a lesser department that's what am saying.
Heaven help those who help themselves yes but when it comes to CBT exam in unilorin Oga park well ooo,,those guys did manipulation ,I saw the result and I can tell you that they graded it according to the results of the first 2 papers released of the individual ( let say u had D in ur first and second paper that would be what you would get throughout all ur result) if its a lie try and do a little research on it.....
Unilorin nah theif and business center
lolest lol, well i kinda agree with you, but why is every unilorin student vexing dis days na
i agree our school is using it as an avenue to make money, at least God don catch dem now dem no fit admit reach 13k again make we dey see as dem wan chase ppl go tanke again
but bro imagine a student of the faculty of education that could not make 1.5, you said we are all not the same in terms of understanding but different level of education has its own requirements, My broda University is not by force oooo, why should you spend your papa and mama money for four years and graduate with a Pass. just look at it from that angle im referring you to 1.4 in 100 level my broda is f**king bad, sending u back home gives u anoda chance to start again and rethink what you want in your life.
My broda my friends that were chased from engineering while some out of the school back then in 2013 are now happy where they are, at least its better than spending 5 years+1 year remedial and achieving nothing .
Education / Re: Unilorin Is Extorting Her Students by baruzeez(m): 6:31pm On Nov 04, 2015
Ancientboy:
Unilorin has just resumed her 2015/2016 academic session and I must say everything is not going on fine. The school is playing on our intelligence,Ever since unilorin called all her students to resume for the new session, there has been some form of irregularities and one of which is delay in course registration and school fees payment,I tried to access my portal on monday to see if there was any new development, and what I saw on my portal was heartbreaking, this new session, the school is forcing us to pay a sum of #7000 for ''bandwit''.
Ever since the former VC (prof oloyede)left office and present VC(prof Ambali) assumed office, students and parents have been made to pay through their nose.I could remember when I gained admission in 2012,the year the former VC was leaving office,I paid a sum of #5,250 for acceptance fee and a sum of #36,000 excluding bank charges for my school fees, but the following year, the new students paid #25,000 plus for acceptance fees and were asked to pay #70,000 plus for school fees because they were forced to pay for ''JKK TABLETS''which I consider useless not only that, the VC admitted more than the school carrying capacity, there were no enough lecture theater and he admitted more than what the available lecture hall could contain
To cut the long story short,it was learnt that national university comission (NUC)instructed the school not to admit more than 7000 student because last year, over 14,000 freshers were admitted so as to make things easy for students learning, ever since then, the school has been sourcing for means to make up with the abnormal profit they make each year.I also heard that the school fees of students in federal universities should be directed to CBN,so this year, freshers are to pay #20,000+ instead of 70k(thank God for that).
Ever since I gained admission into unilorin up till now(final year) I have never for once visited their computer room and I don't pray so.This year, the school is asking us to pay for wi-fi(bandwit) connection which I think we don't need.if at all I have not been to other schools,I do read here how fellow federal uni. Students(OAU,UNILAG e.t.c) express their dissatisfaction through protest, but in unilorin, you dare not except you are tired of schooling(meaning you will be rusticated)our SUG is useless(bunch of fools),they are not representing the students well at all.Remember not everyone is born with silver spoon, there are students that do menial jobs during the long vacation just to make arrangement for their school fees.
The main reason for putting up this write up is that we(unilorin students)want agencies from the Top to come to our rescue school fees in unilorin is just too high.If the CHANGE is really here,we want to feel it,payment for bandwit this year should be made optional and not compulsory. We seriously need help and I think this is the only place we can express our anger.I believe authorities are here that can help us out..

Better by far students where art thou?are you happy with the situation of things?probably NO
Guy u've said it all, i am yet to pay ma school fees because of dat yeye 7k
I no dey pay o

pls guyz I don't understand this unilorin and their doctrines ooo
..this their 1.5 attitude will never give them the best school in Nigeria....d only reason y people.r sorting after them is Cox of their academic Calender....all other schools don't use that rubbish criterea they r using....even enugu state university that has better courses than unilorin uses 0.6 can u imagine that? now unilorin after they have stressed their student with usain bolt fast academic calenders now says if you can't make 1.5 in your first year it's back to square one....pls someone I need to know is it easy to get money to pay the school fees? and what about the dreams of those individuals? their time and everything they have spent just to secure that admission...even in university of Lagos...if you can't reach 1.5 you will be advised to go to departments like psychology.sociology or geography or any other social science department at the end of 200 level which is not compulsory and if u feel.u.can move on its left to you.
But what am saying is that unilorin needs to reconsider her rubbish doctrines and at students with 1 point could be moved to lesser departments not that you now send all.of them home like.that and start struggling for admission again ...
Guyz moat especially for the 2014 set..this unilorin.admitted over population and from the news.during their first semesters of life science students their lectures were nothing to write about and the fees they paid were too much for a federal university ....I just wish the NUC will come and interfere with Unilorin .
to me the judgment Unilorin on 1.5 or face tanke is totally wrong at least students on 1 point should be moved to social sciences department or education.....even the great OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY,NNAMDI AZIKWE UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA NSUKKA, UNIVERSITY OF BENIN, ABU ZARIA, ...where great scholars have emerged are not using this doctrine ...for the betterment of life's and the progress of the nation..I feel.unilorin(probitas doctrinal) better by far should do something about the situation.
bros i cant lie to you it is a very wise decision.
lets look at it from anoda angle imagine a student getting 1.4 cgpa in his/her first year. my broda the probability that he/she will graduate with second class lower is very low. for God sake 100 level is like a little bit advanced level of ya secondary na, when you guys get admission u get carried away and u feel like thats the end of the journey, now you are here complaining 1.5cgpa in Year 1 is too high habaaaaa.
University is not a play ground ooo my broda, the journey of ya life starts dere.
Lyk a mentor of mine always tell me
THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR FAILURE, MAY WE NOT FAIL OOO

amosamali:

Ok,to be a 2.1 graduate you have to graduate with a CGPA between 3.5-4.49 which I believe you already know. With your present CGPA let's do some analysis...3.5-3.32=0.18, so let's assume its a four years course, which implies you've completed 3 session I.e 6 semesters....so therefore 0.18*6=1.08.
1.08 is your remainder right. Now for the remaining two semesters you have to balance your G.P with 1.08 ,which implies you must have atleast 4.04 in both semesters...

I believe you can do it!!
Believe in yourself!!
wow great analysis I'm impressed bro

“Can anything good come out of Ilorin?” Dele Sobowale 1980s. Underestimating people and institutions can produce some startling surprises. Let me confess that I was a pessimist about the prospects of the University of Ilorin back in the 1980s. Despite knowing it was there, it just never occurred to me that I would have anything to do with it. I was forced to consider it when one of my dearest in the world, my daughter Onikepo (Nike) Sobowale made two decisions on her own. First, she was going to read computer science. Second, she was going to offer Unilorin as her first choice. The reader needs to understand why it was difficult for me to know which of the two decisions was the more alarming at the time. I had enrolled her at Adrao International Nursery and Primary School, Victoria Island, at a time when it was the most expensive school in Nigeria. I was not very rich, but my employer was an American multi-national company, which recruited me from the USA for the job. That made me one of the highest paid Marketing Managers in Nigeria. I was determined that my kids would receive the best education money could buy. Later Nike was joined by two younger sisters at the same school which collected enough money from me to buy a Mercedes each year. She proceeded to Queens College, Yaba, on merit, finished as an “all-rounder” and scored close to 300 in JAMB. She could have selected any university and any course in Nigeria and the admission would have been automatic. But, she chose Computer Science and University of Ilorin – and promptly drove me to consume twelve bottles of GULDER non-stop. Computer Science? Unilorin? How could I go about beating my chest among my friends with these options? It was also an ethical dilemma for me because I left Nigeria for the US promising my Mum to return a medical doctor; then changed course to economics. I had vowed never to interfere with the career choices my kids make. And here was the first one driving me to drink gallons of beer. My work with two multi-nationals in the US, with large fleets of trucks and delivery vans and sterilized computer rooms, had convinced me that Computer operators were mechanics in air- conditioned rooms wearing white coats, instead of those in the Mechanic Workshop which were greasy and grimy. My brilliant daughter was going to join the “white coated mechanics”. Horrors. Added to that, she was heading for Ilorin, Kwara State which, at the time, for me, might as well be in the Sahara Desert. Called the “Gateway to the North” by many people, it was, as far as I was concerned, a Gateway to Ignorance in the 19080s. And, if there had been Boko Haram then, it would have been Gateway to Hell. As a born and bred Lagos boy, anything beyond Ikeja was “jungle”. Even Ibadan was barely tolerated and if she chose University of Ibadan, I would have advised her to keep away from the “natives” (ara oke as we called them). The vital questions were: should I stop her and why? Eventually, the principle of non- intervention in career choices of my kids prevailed. I swallowed more beer and away she went without knowing she left a father who spent the first few months expecting and actually praying she would be fed up with Ilorin and return home to start again elsewhere. Blessed are the ignorant people acting out of partial knowledge. First, I was totally ignorant of the future of ICT and how it was going to take over all aspects of our lives in more ways than Medicine, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy, and even my own field, Economics could have possibly do. Today, it is virtually impossible to achieve success in any field without a large dose of ICT. So score one for Nike. It took a bit longer for the University of Ilorin to demonstrate its true grit. I must confess that in the early days when friends ask me which university Nike was attending, I would pretend not to hear the question or change the subject. How could a “real Lagos boy” like me announce that my intelligent daughter was attending a university in the “bush”. The first person to whom I gave the honest answer actually told me, “Dele you must be mad. U.I, Uni-Ife, UniBen, UNN are there and you sent your daughter to Ilorin” – making it sound as if I sent her to the gallows. And, mocking me further, he reminded me that I once said “Can anything good come out of Ilorin?” Sure enough, I said it. And I was ashamed that Nike was at Ilorin. Nevertheless, life continues to teach all of us lessons we refuse to learn. Among the enduring lessons of history is “Nobody can be certain about the future”. But, most of us, especially adults, think we can predict the future. If anybody had told me that University of Ilorin would be ranked along with the University of Ibadan today, I would have told the person to “go to hell”. Given the gap in everything, at the time, it looked absolutely impossible that Unilorin would catch up to the first generation universities. Today Unilorin sits at the top of the pile. The university had in one generation, defined as thirty years, worked its way to the front ranks. The great Napoleon Bonaparte, 1769-1821, said that the word “impossible” doesn’t or should not exist, Unilorin has made me to agree with him. Now I can beat my chest. Onikepo attended University of Ilorin.
