@^^ Awo was never against the Igbos. Doing what was expedient and necessary for your own survival during war time(s) does not equate or imply "hate/against" the Igbo. Only lazy immature minds who know nothing about "WAR" or its implications/consequences would think otherwise and want to hang their inherent prejudices/hang-ups on him or policy. It is very convenient to blame him for all manner of ineptitudes inherent in the Nigerian structure. Igbos are noted for bad decisions and pointing fingers at the wrong direction like most other Nigerians anyway cool. It is a national culture of "living in denial". It is as Nigerian as Pounded yam wink.
yeah after you have been captured by the north they now recruited you into their army , talking about denial there is nothing for us to deny , igbos wanted out,the non igbo niger deltans wanted out(they fought the federal govt for 12 days for that even before biafran war) yourbas wanted out even the north wanted out only igbos had the balls to actually leave but because your european masters dont like it they convienced your slave ass to go and scarifice your fathers and brothers just to bring igbos back and then you come all day on nairaland that igbos want to dominate you and that we are tribalistic ,indeed stupidity thrives in your DNA do you even know what you want as a human being , you guys disgust me and you act like zombies

Katsumoto: 1. Thats an ignorant statement (Awo and Akintola feud).

2. Yes Awo didn't want Nigeria but Awo's destiny should not be predicated by the whims and caprices of the Igbo. So you think Awo should have been waiting for the Igbos to change their minds about Nigeria? Do you think this is kindergarten?

3. Who said anything about Igbos being more intelligent? An Igbo man promulgated a decree to level the playing field in another region while another Igbo man (Ojukwu) naively announced to the world that the Igbo would export Igbo civil servants to the rest of the country. Where did you read that it was based on merit?
igbos dont and never needed awo but u coming here and trying to paint a traitor like him as a saiint is really mischievous . as for igbos announcing about exporting civil servents it confirms our intelligence and how far ahead we were to you , now europeans, indians, chinese, lebanese etc all exports civil servants and professionals to different countries including nigeria ,i bet you over look that one , you just a typical bad stereotype of a black man

history books again. In 1945 and 1953 when the northerners went on the rampage in their region, they

slaughtered ibos like roaches. But still, slimy zik and his NCNC party were singing unitary system in 1956

and were prepared to delay their independence day till when the north is ready.

naptu2: Renewed Clashes Claim 10 in Benue, Ebonyi

27 Jun 2012

Ten persons were feared dead in a renewed fighting between the bordering communities of Agila  in Ado local government area of Benue State and Ngwo in Ebonyi State.

The perennial land dispute between these two neighbouring communities which has defile resolution, erupted at the early hours of Tuesday with the Ngwo community allegedly deploying mercenaries into Agila and threatening to march into Agila main town.

An eye-witness at the Benue end of the border said that the renewed fighting has forced inhabitants of Ai-Nedu clan in Agila to flee to Apa Agila for safety. According to him, farmers of Ai-Nedu community had gone to carry out their routine farming activities yesterday morning when they ran into an ambush of over 100 men who marched through Ogilolo community dressed in military camouflage and armed with sophisticated weapons.

“The farmers flee on sighting the men but the mercenaries caught up with one Oche Adayi, a father of four and beheaded him. From that point, they moved in further, shooting sporadically and killing any living thing within the area; as at now we can not ascertain the number of the dead because many people are still missing while some are believed to be trapped in the farms”.

“As at 30 minutes ago we were hearing sounds of gun shots coming from the besieged community near the Community Secondary School in Agila while people are still scampering for safety” he said.

When contacted on phone, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ado local government area, Mr. Benard Ochepa,  lamented the extent of the attack on his people.

“The attack was just overwhelming; it is sad that despite efforts by the state government to ensure that this crisis was brought to an end, the people we gave land to habit have now resorted to killing my people, it is sad indeed”.

“In fact the situation is even more painful when you realised that our people have been displaced from their places of abode and their communities made desolate,” Ochepa lamented.
The development yesterday prompted a forced cancellation of all official engagements organised by the Benue State Government.

As at the time of filing this report, the Benue State Security Council, chaired by the Deputy Governor, Chief Steven Lawani, had conveyed an emergency meeting to deliberate over the matter.

When contacted the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State, Mr. Ejike Alaribe ASP, who said the police recorded one death in the fighting, added that the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Christopher Katso, personally directed the Area Commander in charge of Otukpo to move to the troubled community to ensure that peace was restored in the communities immediately.

He added that Benue State Police Command was also working in concert with  its counterpart in Ebonyi state to ensure that calm returned to the areas.
“We have drafted more men to the area, and i can assure you that calm has returned to the area”, Alaribe said.

illicit: its like u dont understand the arts of war, awo was a minister under a millitary govt, if he provide food for the biafrans which were actually nigerians, ojukwus soldiers hijacked this food and nourish themselves with it, okay if 2 million ibos died of hunger, is any one of them from ojukwus household? Thinka bout this and know where to direct ur blames.
the black man like you and gowon and awolowo will continue to be stupid and that is the reason why war is all over africa.now tell me exactly the logic for dishonouring aburi accord that allowed regions to do their thing or the reason nigeria sacrificed over 500 thousand nigerian soldier minus the over one million biafrans that died all to unite a fake entity for the benefit of the brittish who just want oil at the best possible deal(which they could only achieve by supporting nigeria as biafra would not entertain such), yet you people come out every day to cry about curruption and abuse presidents upt and down when your country was built on lies, deceit , blood and stupidity.
PoliticsRe: Obafemi Awolowo’s Letter From Prison (dated 28th March 1966) by bashr8: 10:38pm On Jun 27, 2012
Katsumoto: 1. Igbo civil servants were already serving but does that mean they couldn't send more? To achieve that purpose, Ironsi removed the compulsory Hausa language test for the civil service in the North. I don't really get your point; are you stating that Ojuwku didn't state that the Igbos would start exporting civil servants to other regions?

2. Not that I admit that Awo tried to cut deals with both Zik and Bello but that was negotiation to strengthen one's hand. After all, even if both agree to deal with him, he can only deal with one and not both

3. You don't know my people, so leave that out of it. It is your opinion that you think the Igbo caught up with the Yoruba. Not worth debating over. In any case, the prize for the Igbo was the North and the West, which was why Ironsi abolished tests in Hausa.

4. Igbos didn't have to prostrate to anyone. They were being killed in the North, all they had to do was go home until Nigeria's future could be sorted out through diplomatic means. Going to war was not the answer especially as they weren't prepared. You do know it's possible for one to stay in one's home if there is danger outside. What was the straw that made Ojukwu declare secession? What many of you don't understand is that Ojukwu went to war because he realised he could have been replaced by Gowon had he accepted Gowon's decree 8 of 1967.

5. Awo was not a saint but he damn was the best administrator of that generation or any generation for that matter. His records remain unmatched despite successive governments having budgets that dwarf what he had to work with. If you are in doubt, you can read what Lennon-Boyd wrote about all three regions in 1957, which was a precursor to the Willinks report of 1960.
very dumb . first of all awolowo is a criminal and was imprisoned for treason secondly he was a very dihonest and currupt man thats why he and akintola kept on fighting. it is ironic for you to claim he wanted out of nigteria and when the opportunity presented itself via ojukwu he was quick to go and bow to the northerners and lick gowans, a..ss.
its suprising to read that igbos being more intelligent and going for the best jobs and yes getting them means they are opoortunist and dominating others.this is the same mentality that is killing everything in nigeria now. just incase you have forgotten northerners have continue to kill yorubas, igbos and christians in general in the north beofre independence till date so the same way your asking why did igbo go back is the same reason why yorubas are still in the north uptill now even with the killings.

hmmm.

But if the Igbo/Yoruba traders (who came to buy), then why has food scarcity hit KID since KD owns the farms/ food product.
It would make sense to say that food scarcity hit Southern states.

Confusion is a . . . .
who told you the north feeds the south ? the only thing that comes from the north are cows, every region feeds itself and import the rest which requires igbo traders to distribute from the south to the north or from one state to the other so when u distrupt the activities of igbo traders you will all go hungry. go to onithsa on wednesdays especially and see convoy of trilers and wagons loading food stuffs and other items from onithsa to southwest and north, ijebu women also come to buy food stuffs and other materials to sell in the south west

your really uneducated, nigeria lost over 500thousand soldiers to biafran army , biafra never even had up to hundred thousand soldiers at any point, biafran casualties where from egyptian air raid that destroyed homes and farm s, it is still on record that nigerian army have never won a war unless of cours odi and take over of yorubaland by hausas soldiers without having to fire a single shot during couter coup counts as war.

In Cameroun, they are treated as immigrants after the pepper the ibos showed them before they attained their self-rule.

After the 2nd WW, southern Cameroun was adminstered from nigeria and ibos moved in droves to the region. In no time

they started their usual marginalisation of the indigenes, plus chest-beating and sheer dispect for the locals hence

South cameroun opted to join their brothers up north than be joined with nigeria knowing fully well what fate awaits them

in nigeria.
the same way yorubas are like everywhere like flies even iraq and yemen so wats ur point.

I bet these rats can put up this argument in any place in Anambra even in Peter Obis village.. Peter obi has taken us back into darkness. Awka is the worst capital in the east without any facelift, dirty, no good and beautified dual carraiges, no good hospital or quality schools, not liveable. Nnewi is disorganized, onitsha too. The masses are on the streets feeding from hand to mouth more than any other state in the east while the fraud peter obi is building his malls and mansions in abuja, trapping state funds at fidelity bank, building his scam miller factory and grand malt in ph and governing the state from enugu. Normally I wouldnt bother replying them but since I have learnt they live on propaganda, i will not allow them succeed here on nairaland which I run cool

rhymz: Mr Globe
If you must argue please do so from an objective standpoint regardless of your political inclination.
Most of the Igbos that support El Rufai's falsehood are political opponents of Peter Obi that are ready to do anything to rubbish his government no matter what he has or has not done.
Even Fashola gets thesame treatments from Yorubas in the PDP. They peddle all manner of falsehood and exaggerate his mistakes. We all saw how his detractors exploited the Sacked Doctors issues and stuff like that.
I care less about defending Obi's administration but I will not agree or condemn wholeheartedly the developments in Anambra state or allow myself to be indirectly used as an agent of divisive politics through spreading of falsehood or outright distortion of facts.
I have been to Kano and Kaduna( the pride states of the north) and now I am in Sokoto, none of these northern state can boast of being better than Anambra state in any ramification even with their past and present heavy FG patronage, FACT!!!
Like I have said before, El Rufai's intent goes beyond innocently critiquing the Government of Peter Obi, it was a direct and deliberate attack on the people of Anambra and in a way, a subtle attack on the entire southeast people, trying to paint a grotesque image of the subregion using Anambra as a launchpad all in preparation for 2015.
There is no sincerity of purpose in his intent, it is all politics and divisive machination to cause confusion. If you understand Obi's position and influence in APGA as an Igbo political party and as an Igbo leader, you will understand why he had to pick on Obi.
Obi might not have done well in all rammifications but I dare say, his performance in Anambra towers higher above the performances of Kano and kaduna state governors. If El rufai wants to genuinely write on mispriorities, the north is a perfect case study. The government system here does not support the people here in anyway, it is all politics and no substance. They have no programs here to educate their people about backward cultures and traditions that put them in the vicious cycle of poverty. A 15yr old girl in the North has no formal education and is already one of the many wives of a poverty stricken man with no sustainable means of survival. The people of the north care little about education, most of the professional establishments here are manned by Yorubas, Igbos and niger-deltans. He should pressure the governments here to be sincere and help their people. Hausa breed childrien here en mass without any plans for them and yet Mr El Rufia wants to pontificate about misprioities to a state that has way more wealth and development than people from his state. Talk of lip service and insincerity of purpose at its highest order.
once again you said it all , dalu , we are not saying obi is doing a good job but rather we are pointing out the mischief and lies on el rufai write up but fools and back stabbers like mrglobe will not see that he is more interested in his party wreslting power from peter obi than the intergrity of anambra, south east and igbo in general. i have always said my igbo people are either indifferent or yet to understand the power of media propaganda, you can turn dubai or paris into somalia or a war torned zone without even a single gun all u need is the media and that is what elrufai and his party are tryin to do , create an image where the suth east is the worst zone and blame it on apga or peter obi.

Chino peter obi lives in enugu, he is a neighbor to a friend. So awka is getting a face lift? Do you know where they call abakaliki street? Do you know how the road is? Do you know how dusty, unkempt and neglected awka looks, even though its the seat of power, the tiny roads blocked by rickety houses with heaps of dirts. No infrastructure at all. Now as a businessman, will you invest in awka or enugu or asaba or owerri? Where will you invest in? And have you visited these other capitals to see how planned and government presence they enjoy. Take you propaganda somewhere else, even a blind man can see obi is a failure and fraud
your a demonic liar, peter obi lives in awka, agulu , onithsa. he had his enugu house before he became governor just like every other igbo elite even before both states seperated but he hardly visits it , you are no longer making sense, its obvious u have personal beef with peter obi and honestly that is ur buisness but stop adding lies to it.until you show me a stste in the south east or across nigeria performing more than anambra all round especially human development i suggest u just STFU. you are talking of commercialising awka, that show how foolish u are, awka was not created to be a commercial city, onithsha and mistakingly nnewi are already commercialised, awka is a capital and university city , meant for middle class ,if anything they are trying to stop commercialisation of awka because it is already getting out of control.
