honeric01: Hehehe, you mean the gala hawker get loans from the whole village? a loan from the whole village can only raise funds to hawk gala which brings in 1k profit daily at most? loan to sell gala? my igbo brothers are wiser than this man. stop insulting my friends.

All in all, my igbo bros are industrious but those selling gala aren't doing themselves any favor because they are really slaving away.
where did you get galla hawking from ? pls those things are done in lagos and ph, anambra host the largest market in the world and among the top 3 states with highest number of higher institutions ,stop fooling yourself.

ayo011: Anambra is one SE state that I love with passion. It can only be compared to Lagos and Rivers economically in the entire Nigeria.

"National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that Anambra State has an unemployment rate of between 10 per cent and 11 per cent which is about that of the United States of America and less than Greece which is about 25 per cent."

i hope haters are watching , they think its by making noise all over the place, some of them dont know that anambra have the largest market in the world.

kingoflag: Yup, lets blame the lack of competing power on the loss of the civil war. smh
mugu where did i write about civil war, igbos are at the top of their game and no amount of wall mart can change that. uac, kingsway and lot others tried and where are they now.i will give shoprite 4 years it will pack up. go and ask the chines and indians that tried to invade the south east and south south , they have all closed up and gone back home , the ones in lagos are trying to bribe lagos govt to get favours cus they are finding it tough ,walmart or whatever are the least of our problem now .
BusinessRe: Will Walmart's Coming End Igbo Business In Nigeria? by bashr8: 3:05am On Jul 04, 2012
unles they open their stores in all villages in nigeria they stand no chance against the igbos.we will bid them out. they will close up like kingsway ,uac and the rest .already people in enugu dont even go to shoprite anymore unlike when it opened , the hype have already died down.

Thats the point am trying to make. Nkwo is my home town and my mom is from Isikwe-Achi, do you know that the road from Oji River to Achi is highly inaccessible and unmotorable. Infact I couldn't even travel in my car to Achi to see my maternal home because of bad road. Until we have a governor in Enugu state that will develop the rural areas enugu state will continue to be 75% rural and poor.
being rural does not translate to being poor i hope u know that , besides are u not ashamed to compare enugu with delta that collect almost 1000 times what enugu collects yet no city in delta can compete with enugu city , men just pretend this thread dont exist.

fubbyy: Mr man, I was born in owerri (ikenegbu) grew up in owerri, did my primary and secondary sch in owerri, I sch and graduated in unical, this is 8 years for me in this cally town so I'm the best judge to comapre the 2 cities

No money in calabar, am sure of that but you saying that cali is boring made it clear to me that you have never crossed itu bridge let alone coming 2 calabar or maybe you didn't have any money nor know any1 when you visited

Owerri is a refined village, its ok but not 2 compare it liveliness with that of cali, I dislike that town, I even wonder why people are mentioning it here, maybe I feel its this bad because that's where I spent much of my time, "2much familiarity makes the price go down" .....robert green
can you name the cities that are better than owerri , i only started to appreciate enugu where i grew up when i went for my master and travelled across nigeria too plus youth service.

vladimiros: man, Let me give an example. My family has shops at MCC, every Calabar Carnival we double price and sales don't dissapoint

sinc eth Carnival passes through my house, during normal holidays some people just pass by to see, and ask and most times foreigners who are just visiting
its still not enough besides owerri have more influx of people in december than calabar.have you been to the south east in december period? its jam packed with people and things are ten times more expensive that period.

Orikinla: There are only two.
Lagos and Calabar.
These are the only safe cities in Nigeria.
And without safety, a city cannot be good enough to even be called BEST!
yea right but crime rate in new york is higher than the whole nigeria even with boko harem yet am sure you see it as a city , besides crime rate in lagos is higher than that of enugu, calabar and owerri so judging by that lagos does not deserve to be caled a city , we will discuss that in another thread
TravelRe: Name 10 Best Nigerian Cities by bashr8: 9:18pm On Jul 03, 2012
Spirit of Okija: Actually!! I absolutely agree with you..

However, one of the things about Calabar is the NNPC depot & the Cement company (UNICEM) has created jobs for many young guys.. However I want to believe that the cashflow in Calabar thrumps that of Owerri (Yahoo Yahoo town) and Enugu (civil servants town).
dumb post of the week, which money is in calabar compared to enugu and owerri , do u even have sense at all

Which youth? Can the youth be more powerful than government, more especially on a project that will turn their lives for good. I mean the governor should stop immediately this deception in enugu urban.
I asked earlier have you been to Udi? Udi is over 100years old, but today their is no hospital nor a commercial bank in the entire Udi. Its all because the rural areas has been left to rot away. Most people does not even spend holidays in enugu rural areas because of inaccessible nature of the place. I have a friend from Abagana, I spend my xmas every year in their town. Atimes I wish to be from the place because of how development has reached the grassroot.
and what are the rich people from enugu doing? building mansions in lagos and abuja and then come to bash enugu, is not their mates in anambra that are building hospiatls , factories etc in their home town? must government do everything, am not sure you even know how small enugu allocation is, basically everything in enugu apart from the road where built by private individuals maybe you should vent your anger on rich enugu indigiens across nigeria and jand especially abuja and lagos

I see you've been trying to get back at me since i whupped your behind in that "Nigeria ranked #14 in failed states" thread.

well i would love to but in case you haven't realized Nigeria is a "cash at hand" economy meaning if you don't have money no institution or bank would be willing to loan it to you except you are some influential individual .

Do you know how MANY youths could gain employment if the south east experiences an agricultural boom ? Tea (yes TEA)keeps Countries such as Burundi afloat and its actually their major export ,Cocoa=Ivory coast and for your information these are COUNTRIES surviving off agriculture now imagine how rich and economically attractive a STATE would be if they invest in agriculture? If the east invests heavily in Agriculture INSTEAD of neighbouring regions / states in the SOUTH SOUTH to wait for products to come from the North they would easily buy those agricultural products from the south east and we can also export cash crops abroad. Mr Rossike i hate to say this but everyday you keep making me believe you are an ape with downs syndrome .
your mentally challenged for writting this crap , who told you enugu and south east dont produce their own food. enugu have the largest poultry and fresh fish farms in nigeria ,i bet you dont know that it supplies ph and other states accross the nation with poultry products , red oil ,garri, maize ,cashew and cahsew nuts.as a matter of fact the economy of enugu is agricultural based , people like you just dont know it, government still have loans pilled up in bank and equipments for idle people like u to collect and contribute but u rather come and bash them

Aigbofa: When I mentioned this on Nairaland, I was labelled an Igbo hater. You don't have to be Nostradamus to see this, it will be gradual but it will surely happen.
so what about the yorubas and the north that are already finding it toguh what will now happen to them , i will like to see u write an article about that , igbos can take care of themselves. divide nigeria and we igbos will end the madness of importation , aba and onitsha indutries will spring back to life again like it were in the 80s and before the war ,if we continue with this nigeria and all those comapnies come into nigeria we will all go down with your yoruba and northern people having it worse than igbos.

did you consider compliance , how many people actually go for the testing, the real statistics is actually higher accross nigeria because people move around and mojority dont even go for testing ,so no matter what state you are in be careful.

its a choice go tru the strainous excercise and live happily ever after or go somewhere else and divorce after 2 years becus of flimsy excuses, good things dont come easy. go ask other nigerians including your brothers, they keep coming for more even if we tell them to buy private jet they will happily do so

if u cry and whine over common lst that is not even up to hundred thousand i wonder what you will do if ur tld ur child needs medical invervention in europe. its people like you that boast of how you pop champainge in the club and make it rain on them hoes but common bride price your shivering and peeing in your pants. anyway go and ask the lower income igbos and other non igbos that keep rushing how they manged to still marry their igbo wife and stop crying.

You're being corrected in your misinformation, yet you decide to direct your anger at Yorubaland.

Are Yorubas the one ones on this thread.

You have inferiority complex.

Women shouldn't have to be sold, they ought to marry without these traditional shackles.

Shoit the girl might even have to shift her wedding to next year just because of some hungry community kinsmens wey wan chop lol
tell illeki idi your yoruba warrior to stop running her mouth all over the place.

those kins men your talking about can feed your generation or have children that can feed you so first of all its not about your money.you sound like one of those retards that want to rewrite what igbo custom should be even when yours is shitty or one of those people that are igbos only by name and know nothing of igbo tradition or language , fist of all she should know what the requirements for her marriage is even before she turn 18 or a woman and not at the dying moment , she should know these things and start to discuss it with her family even before a man comes along, this shows how wasted the youths of today are. if the man is really serious about marrying her but cant afford the list he should talk to his kins men they will send a negociator who will bid it down , some of you need to learn and stop running your mouth all o0ver the place.

So you want to keep Igbo men from Igbo women?

This is what happens when you come skipping into a thread without reading the content.

It seems like a lot of Yoruba men are getting by this tradition sha lol. Maybe the poster should ask Ayodele how he does it.
this is not youbaland where you buy gala for a woman and she automatically becomes your wife and then tomorrow you throw her out and get another one, igbo men prepare themselves for marriage psychologically and financially and igbo women make themselves worth it . even if bride price is 20 million nigerians will keep trooping to igboland to marry and abandon their own women thats how we select only the very best of men for our daughters. in her own case she can talk to her father ,he has the authority to decrease the price unless he is one of those dads that dont associate with their kins men
FamilyRe: Bride Price Wahala! by bashr8: 2:30am On Jul 02, 2012
thats the best way to keep all this tom dick and harry away from our daughters, no matter how big the list is , igbo women will still be the most sought after accross nigeria , your kins men are not after his money ,he has to prove that he is financially capable to taking care of you in these hard times. besids it is the same kinsmen that will save your marriage or even come to your aid when your broke and help feed you and your family when all hope is lost so better dont go and listen to these non igbos that run their mouth all over the place because divorce and polygamy is all they know. anyway your father can influence what the requirements are but be very careful these things are there for a reason , dont do strong head unless when the time comes when you need the same elders you will be on your own .

Well done. Pls show the good, the bad and the ugly o. Though born and bred in Lagos, I'm from Enugu state and had my university education there.

Was also pleasently surprised at how much the city had developed compared to what it was in the '90's.

Looking forward to all the pics!
why should he show the bad and ugly, when you where leaving for jand did you know about the bad and ugly and the gheto, have u ever seen a country or city like new york promoting itself by showing the bad and ugly ?
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by bashr8: 8:38pm On Jul 01, 2012
J12: The only thing that keeps enugu alive is the student/youth population, the state is filled with old civil servants with rickety vehicles. Enugu is usually boring whenever the students are on vacation. Owerri is the place to be men. . .
am not sure you know enugu well , fr om this your statement, enugu have soo many indutries, banks, private companies ,trader etc scattered all accross the city and out skirts plus most school(primary ,sec and university) in enugu are private and the last time i checked running a school is buisness too.
PoliticsRe: Late Risers?? Were The Igbos Right About Breaking Up In The 60s? by bashr8: 8:36pm On Jul 01, 2012
Aigbofa: No, they were wrong in siding with the North not to include a secession clause in the constitution from the start. What they could have done with a pen, they attempted to do with a gun.
theres no limit your st.upidity , even if the hausa fulanis invade yorubaland today ( as they did before ) you pathetic will rather concentrate on pulling up false claims against igbos.

for you information secession clause was included in constitution and zik or any igbo never challenged it or tried to stop it.

maybe if yorubas had more pride and stick to agreements like aburi accord and the true federalism constitution that was submmited to abacha by G8 led by an igbo man ekwueme we wont be having all these discussions, drama and death daily.
