Trump bragged about renegotiating the costs of two Air force One planes. Initial estimate was $5.3B but Trump negotiated with Boeing president to $3.9B. As usual he bragged about it.

The airframe had been built for a Russia airline company that had gone bankrupt. Boeing wasn't really happy saying the deal cost them $2.5B loss in the process
In retrospect I think Boeing made sure Trump would never be the first POTUS to use it , delaying it to 2024. When he won, they pushed delivery to around 2035. So I think that's just politics because the most demanding part of a plane is the airframe. In any case the retrofitting is done by their contractor.

The current gift is being retrofitted by the same contractor ,scheduled to take less than 2 years. (USAF took 2 years to salvage 2 F-35 jets that had crashed to the ground and partly caught fire, a company like Boeing should take less time with a plane that probably needed only finishing touches as a commerical liner.

My opinion.Why is Qatar gifting him. Qatar has been hosting Hamas leades including their billinaire boss blown up in Tehran, they have funded Hamas to the tunes of billions. With the gift,I am of the opinion that Trump positions on Palestine and Israel have tacitly changed.
