BMS prevents batteries from reaching 0% some are set to 20% for discharge and 90% or 95% for fully charged to preserve the battery chemistry. Most laptop BMS would not let you use the battery if it ever or literally reach 0% this means you cant swap dead cells, you have to get a new battery.

Did your seller advice you to once in a while (Once Twice) a month let your laptop drain to 0% . Leave it off and charge it to 100%. This is to let the BMS properly calibrate the 0% and 100% State of Charge. You don't do this , you might see your laptop or even phone warning you low battery when it's 50% full.

When new the real 100% charge could be 70% and goes up by the years to its guaranteed period. If there was no BMS the car battery performance would drop to almost zero within 5 years .

You assume that it will eventually connect to the internet. Using an assumption that a computer will connect to the internet doesn't seem to be a robust way to program anything.

A couple years back I was rebuilding my server and needed to reinstall a piece of software that I used to use to alert me of HD temp issues. I tried to install it but when it loaded it told me the software was no longer supported and wouldn't do anything else. I knew the software still worked as I had used it on the previous server, same OS and all. I guess they had updated it and wouldn't let you reinstall the old version. But you could update from the old version. Kinda pissed as I had purchased it and it seemed shady. So, I just rolled back my system time 5 years, reinstalled using my license, made the system time current and upgraded.
