Even Nigeria does not have an absolute majority system for electing Presidents (I bet they don’t know this). An absolute majority system is a very bad idea in a large, ethnically diverse or culturally polarized country like the US or Nigeria because it would ensure that one, or just a handful of regions, tribes, cultures etc. would have absolute say on who becomes president in EVERY election.

If America switches to a popular vote system, trust me the country will break up in a matter of years. Illiterates can’t comprehend this so don’t bother explaining to them.

I saw this on Twitter. I can't 100% vouch for the numbers, but they seem close enough. I always found it hilarious when Trump Supporters talked about their "silent" majority. I think the way the country is going the electoral college has to be addressed. The minority of Americans who control the majority of land shouldn't be dictating policy to the majority of Americans. They can keep the 2 senators per state to give them a say but allow the Presidency to be decided by popular vote.
