No country is ever self sufficient because it either must buy something from elsewhere or sell something somewhere.

Some few hundreds or so years ago America found itself with an abundance of land but had no labour to work it after working the indigene Indians into extinction, so they went and got cheap labour from Europe to come work it for them which meant they had to export some of the produce of their land to Europe to pay for it, hence globalisation, basilico, though it's as ancient as day since every nation had to sell or buy something elsewhere like you do with your boxers from China.

Having not been able to acquire sufficient cheap labour locally and from Europe, America globalised to China who always had an organised workforce which is what makes them the giants they are today and makes them less susceptible to American exploitation, so America globalised to Africa where they found abundant cheaper and more coercible labour.

Even today, bas, America begs people to come there or sell them some crude sometimes on their Biden knees, so why you would think America that has always needed to buy and sell globally to grow itself into the giant it is today would benefit from deglobalisation just confounds all sensibilities, basilco.
