iwonbaoko: Your witticism is wasted on me sir. What is your point??
my point is dat abia and anambra locals contribute these small GDP while most of d oda states hv high GDP because of multinationals. At d end of d day abians and anambrarians hv more money in dia pockets and accounts dan ppl frm most of d states mentioned.

Guk: Why do they have to give Lagos a run for her money? Is there a competition? Is there a prize to be won? There are loads of people who thrive in other towns in Nigeria with no tie or whatsoevr to Lagos. Let each location tap & maximise its own resources rather than creating imaginary competition.
healthy competititon is gud. If we cn hv 10 other "Lagoses" its gud 4 d con3

iwonbaoko: Why must it come to this ? Abia and Anambra doing well is good news but they are not the only ones different parts of the country have their own advantages whether it be water in Cross River Akwa Ibom Rivers and Ondo, Palm Oil in Edo Cattle from the Nort etc there are opportunities ALL OVER Nigeria. As of today the truth is that Abia and Anambra are still very much behind Non oil states like Ogun Oyo,Kano,Kaduna,Edo,Osun ,Benue and Osun in terms of GDP. As a matter of fact in the SE Imo state is way ahead of Anambra state and Abia in terms of economic output and is quite capable of competing with Lagos so I don't agree that Abia or Anambra are in any way bigger economies than those states listed above
the difrence bw Abia/anambra and d oda state u mentioned is the word "INDIGENOUS".

biafrandream: So far non of them deserve that seat. I see in them a bunch of immature opportunists. In as much as I support rotation of political seats, I am really scared about an Nsukka man becoming governor of Enugu. I think that Enugu will loose the little gain we have made. I may be wrong though but that's my feeling.

My Nsukka brothers are wonderful people, but one thing that puts me off about them is selfishness. I despise over-selfishness no matter who is involved. It is one of the reservations I had over Chima's government even though he is my brother. When I remember Okwy Nwodo, I become more apprehensive.

However, as a man who believes in the equality of all men and a true democrat, I will still vote an Nsukka man come 2015. I believe in egbe bere ugo Bere. I only wish new states were created, so they can have their own state and govern themselves.

Please, it's not every Nsukka man that is selfish. There are selfless ones but few. I am sorry to generalise but having had more than ten very close friends from Nsukka for so many years, I speak from experience.
an nsukka man is originally humble and easy going but cn be deadly if takn 4 fool 4 dat.

spyder880: Frank Nweke will be the outsider here, Ifeoma has been inside this administration and part controls the party machinery in Enugu. But for the sake of equity, an Nkanu east person is the person supposed to come forward if we are following our rotational/gentleman agreement policy in Enugu politics.

The first senator there was Jim Nwobodo from Nkanu west
The second was Ken Nnamani from Nkanu west
The third was Gil Nnaji from Enugu east

What about my people from Nkanu east? Abandoned, ignored as Ifeoma Nwobodo and Frank Nweke jr. are both from Nkanu west again?

Dia is God ooo
what about isi-uzo ppl which nsukka loaned 2 u ppl?

ChimaAdeoye: Keeping the surrounding clean is a great thing to do. But most importantly planting trees, grass and flowers to transform the entire environment into a true campus feel is a begging issue in our higher institutions. We must teach young people that a conducive environment is just as important as the building itself. The best place to impact that awareness is in the universities...... and you can only do so by planting trees and flowers so that they see the difference between the campus environment to their hometown.
UNN has trees, grasses and flowers. the place he posted was cleared for landscaping after which new trees and flowers will be planted. check the pics below

Rawani: Did you not hear the Arewa Youths order for the Easterners to leave the North? Why can easterners not go and live on their land? You come across as grossly uninformed to suggest that the the north doesn't have solid minerals. The north is the most endowed region with regard to solid minerals (less oil). Gold, Uranium, Limestone, Tantalite etc abound all over the north. Educate yourself more. Agriculture is the second largest GDP contributor, and 90% of crop cultivation happens in the north, and it is renowned as the agricultural hub of the country. Human Resources? Lol.
stop talking nonesense. Easterners wil leav north and lagos if and only if dey r going home 2 form dia own country. North has bn givn dis option bt dey kip clinging 2 one naija, dats d xteristic of a real parasite.

abagoro: Many Igbos surprise me with their views despite my believe that we are the most widely travelled. Kano is a developed modern city and the GRA is finer than all the GRAs in the Southeast. It is also far more cosmopolitan in both ethnic and racial mix than all parts of Nigeria except Lagos, Rivers and Abuja.

That said Kano probably has the highest number of absolute poor people in Nigeria and has so many slum districts that encourage spread of diseases, Religious violence and extremism. Enugu all round is more liveable than Kano but never as developed.
d slums r villages at d outskirts b4 u enta d city. No slum inside d city lyk obiagu or abakpa

Ikengawo: that's what I mean by Kano has the size, but it's a 'big for nothing' size. Most of the inhabitants are very poor even by nigerian standards and many of the dwellings are mud huts
kano is difrent frm kano state. D abachas and dantatas r d kind of ppl dat inhabit kano city while mudhouse takes ova d rest of d state

3dankey: I will support basilo on this!because I have stayed in kano and also because I have the same mind set about the place like Bishop and IgboSon. Then whenever I see the governor speaking, I will say look at this 1 that their state is backward. I was wrong, when I came to kano around march this year and lived with my uncle in NIGER ROAD SABON GARI or when ur coming from FRANCE ROAD just stop at ZENIT BANK.
Listen, seriously I was shocked at what I saw, because I came in from MINNA NIGER STATE. So I got to kano around past three. The GLO towers, UNITY bank headquarters and other high rise buildings that I saw was mind blowing. when I told my uncle that my view about kano have changed! He said that I have not seen any thing. That he will take me to SHOPRITE and other beautiful places in KANO CITY. My uncle have a shop in KUFAR RUWA, that is for motor cycle spare part and that is where you will find IGBO mostly in kano. I move From FRANCE ROAD to KUFAR RUWA everyday and I think this place is developed by all standard.
I am no longer in kano because this BOKO HARAM stuff and most IGBO are planning to leave by DECEMBER finally.
Anoda pesn dat has lived in kano talking. I'm vindicated
Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by basilo101: 4:55pm On Aug 20, 2014
IGBOSON1: ^^^I think Kano is seeing the effects of boko haram, and a feeling by some (myself included) that it's not a place where anyone but moslems can settle and invest in peace! This is the advantage Lagos has over it! If things were as they should be (provision of electricity, everyone being tolerant and welcoming, and no boko attacks), then Kano could easily rival Lagos!

I feel safer in Sokoto than kano sef!......Go figure!
Now dats sm one who has lived kano talking.

BuddahMonk: You people dont understand how igbo live and go about their development, igbos dont cramp like shrimps in one cesshole while other places rot away.
Its only in igboland that you dont have citystates like those of North and West.

Kano and Ibadan are big because everybody cramped themselves in one place, no breathing space, no room to swing a cat, no serenity, no urban renewal, no building regulation, yet their rural areas are rot away.

Ok check this Eastern States settings and development.

In Anambra we have Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka as big cities, outside them places like Ekwulobia, Ihiala are still developing at their own pace.
Bring all these places together and see how usless your will kano be.

Go to Imo, we have Owerri, Orlu, Okigwe developing at their pace, with other rural areas like Oguta and Mgbidi being semi urban areas...bring all these cities together and see them dwarfting Kano.

In Abia, we have Aba, Umuahia and Igbere developing at their pace, with middleclass and rich people living together, bring them together and see a mega city.

The same to Enugu State with Enugu City and Nsukka to develop,

Ebonyi with Abakiliki and Afikpo to develop.

In Anioma they have Asaba, Agbor and Kwale developing.

Go to every Igbotowns or villages you must a bank branch there.
I was in my villa Okija in Dec and saw one big mkt they built there, i was told last month that Diamond Bank and Fidelity is now operating in my villa.
When i was there i saw trailers offloading building materials while a guesthouse and some filling stations are opening up.
My town have a University, now one guy Obijackson have opened a worldclass hospital at Okija, his construction coy have its yard along the Onitsha Owerri Expressway before the Orasi River, opposite the yard is where FG will site a power generating plant, we are not cramping ourselves In Onitsha, Nnewi or Awka that are developing at their pace.
-This is even development

Kano and Ibadam have been developing since Pope was still an AltarBoy yet they are still looking like buried ancient ruins.
All their universities, churches, mosques, industries, banks etc are clamped in one place, why cant it develop abeg....their wealths are not evenly distributed likewise their development unlike in Igboland where we are republican and everybody develop at his own pace.

Abeg stop the overated Kano abeg, imagine where criminal Abacha that looted Nigeria money came from.

Use google map and see how urbanized SE is not a Kano of bungalows and thatched houses.
dia is no slum in kano city. Its not lyk ibadan. Infrastructure, urban renewal, high rise, arabic architecture. Kaduna is wia u find bungalows squeezed 2geda as u described. Sabon gari alone is anoda onitsha (3-5 storeys and huge market). Linked 2 d rest of world by air for decades, linked 2 lagos (economic capital wit most of d ports) by rail, hv some consulate, hv liason office of sm fed uni eg unilag, a gud population of foreigners (chinese, lebanese, turkish, indians etc)Etc etc plz ask sm one who has lived dia
Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by basilo101: 3:23pm On Aug 19, 2014
Ikengawo: Kano and Enugu can't be compared. If you have a place where over 50% of the population suffers the worst poverty in Nigeria, you can't start comparing it to anywhere because of a city center. Kano is bigger than Enugu in mass and population but Lagos is also bigger than Dubai. Everything else (standard of living, liveability, safety, employment, cleanliness, social/leisure life, arts, music, film, etc) Enugu takes it by miles. Even the industries in Kano are dying as textiles in Nigeria can't compete with cheaper Chinese ones.
enugu is nt close 2 kano by any yardstick. I mean d cities not states. Enugu, aba and onitsha wen combined cn den be compared wit kano. If u kw anybody dat has lived in kano ask him. Btw i am frm enugu state.
Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by basilo101: 11:10am On Aug 19, 2014
BuddahMonk: Yet 95% of beggers in Nigeria are from Kanonistan, that pllace is overated, population is not economic viability.
dia is a difference b/w kano and kano state. If u r familiar wit d north u wil undastand dat d gap b/w d rich and d poor is veri wide ova dia and middle class is almost nonexistent. City center is world class while poverty ravage d rest of d state. But kano city if far ahead of enugu city
