I was there last in 2013, visited two schools there (don't know if they still exist). One was built over a dumpsite the other we paddled to get to it where most of the kids were of Béninoise origin. Life is really rough there!

That Makoko is a different world altogether, weaving through the stilt structures being paddled by a 9 year old boy and seeing women comfortably frying akara, yam and potatoes inside a canoe...can't forget my experience!
