ODI444: I’m not wishing the old one death because it’s evil to do so. But before our eyes, Kyari and Funtua were in the cabal and they had opposing opinions against zoning in general and South East producing the president. Today where are they? A word is enough for the wise.
It is like this Mamoh Daura smoke weed. I'm sure he was not of his senses when he talked. Is it the only North that formed Nigeria? We don't blame u. We blame our people that follow the Northerner. If not, who are u to be talking of competency. If they born well the North in 2023 should try to drag presidency. Then, u will know that south is not foolish.
busysince1993: PDP 192 Ward Chairmen Set To Decamp If N 10M Agreement Is Not Fulfilled in 48 Hrs As Obaseki Kicks.
There is tension currently brewing in Edo State PDP as the 192 ward chairmen of the party have resolved to defect to the APC if Obaseki fails to fulfil his agreement of giving each ward chairman 10 Million Naira for mobilization.
At the wake of Obaseki’s cross over to the PDP, there was a gentleman’s agreement with Obaseki that 10 Million each should be disbursed among the ward chairmen for them to begin appropriate mobilization for the coming election.
The ward chairmen initially frowned at Obaseki for doling out over 20 Billion Naira to the PDP NWC for the party’s ticket.
The chairmen wondered why such a huge amount of funds was disbursed to the NWC members who are not resident in Edo and have no single electoral value to the polls.
They threatened a walkout from the party and only desperate appeals from Wike who apparently made a U-Turn after labelling his colleagues’ Tax Collectors could make them have a rethink.
Wike reached out to the ward chairmen personally through the PDP South-South Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih to prevail on the local party leaders to exercise a little patience with the party as it was evidently clear that campaign funds were yet to be disbursed.
This promise assuaged the ward leaders and the benefit of the doubt was accommodated. But recent events in the PDP seems tensed as the ward chairmen have demanded a fresh notice of 48 hrs to Obaseki to release the promised 10 million or should forget about heir support.
In a caucus meeting of the State PDP ward chairmen which was held today in Edo Central, it was agreed that the mobilization has nothing to do with the party since Obaseki has already settled the National and State leadership of the party with over 20 billion Naira.
They claim they are the ones currently taking the heat on the streets and the party leaders with little or no electoral value are feeding fat from Obaseki.
They warned Obaseki to immediately pay them their agreed 10 Million each or else they would publicly dump Obaseki and work openly with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
See how one of the top caucus ward chairman was quoted as saying.
“This is a very wicked case of you work Elephant work them pay you Ant money, Obaseki spent well over 20 Billion in watering the grounds for his eventual crossover and not a single penny got to the local government not to even mention of the wards.
Obaseki promised us our own fair share of 10 Million for mobilization and till now nothing has been heard from Obaseki, the other time it was Wike who prevailed on us to calm down hoping that things will change.
Now they have launched the campaign without putting us into consideration, we have sent our message across in 48 hrs if we do not receive alerts then it is bye-bye to Obaseki, we are not mincing words here when we say we shall dump the PDP for APC.
While sending our message across we individually attached our Bank Account details failure to HEAR GBAGAM of ten million in 2 days time would spell the final doom for the party.”
The ward chairmen are responsible for the coordination of the party members at the grassroots level.
They are regarded as the eye of the party at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, reports reaching our news desk from Obaseki’s political family has it in good authority that Obaseki is kicking against their rebellion but instead, he has directed the aggrieved ward chairmen to the PDP.
“We settled all the bargains with the PDP from the NWC down to the ward chairmen, if it happens they have not received their 10 Million each then they should be patient till when the party would begin disbursement of the funds, this has nothing to do with His Excellency, they should channel their grievances to the State Exco who would, in turn, take up their case from there.
This is a developing story as more details to follow
Judeerons32: That is a charismatic leader. Politics aside. Comrade is a mobilizer. It is the reason why some hate him because they know his worth. The campaign of Ize iyamu turned 360 immediately comrade entered town. I salute the man.
whalai, I am surprised. Presently, Izeiyamu is pulling waves.

See Obaseki's life. His fighting the godfatherism, instead of focusing on him promised mandates. All allocations were diverted. No physical projects but only audio 2000 projects without location. No single projects on ground as back up for fighting godfatherism.
FirstSon01: Hired crowd. Funny thing is non Edo people are the ones supporting A thief like Ize Iyamu over a far better Obaseki. Edo people know who to vote for but all I have to say is let the highest riggger win.
APC is the chief rigger now and it is going to win.
Governor Godwin Obaseki, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 19 governorship election on Sunday said his major opponent is Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and not Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the party’s governorship candidate.
Addressing a media parley in Lagos, the governor said Ize-Iyamu is not a factor in the election as the people of the state are determined not to give him their mandate based on his antecedents and what Oshiomhole has revealed about him.
While reiterating that the governorship election will put a final nail to the coffin of godfatherism in the state, Obaseki who said godfatherism threatens the democratic rights of the people, added that he has a mission to end the practice in Edo state.
On the issue of violence, Obaseki says he’s concerned about protecting the people of Edo State from an election rigged with violence and bloodshed.
He said the APC orchestrated Saturday’s violence at the Oba of Benin’s palace so as to create fear in the minds of Edo people on election day.
” My reelection is not worth the lives of any individual and so I will do everything within my power to ensure the election is peaceful.
On the claim by the opposition that he has done nothing in the last four years, the governor said he has done a lot and has received commendations from within and outside Nigeria including the World Bank.
“I have over 2,000 projects but I have not commissioned one. My goal is to build but allow the people to use it commission it” he said.
“I have over 2,000 projects but I have not commissioned one. My goal is to build but allow the people to use it commission it” he said. This is Obaseki that is fighting godfatherism. He claims he has 2000 projects but not physical. Nigerians, we like people that are deceiving us. Edolites, it is left to u.
Mylove55: not just four years ago, i mean last month PDP chairman and Dan orbih said thief obaseki is a failure and rated thief obaseki f9 in sector, but two days, all PDP members change their mouth that thief obaseki excellently done well in all sector after they have all collected their tax from thief obaseki. hmm, what a country.
Dminister: These party members don't care about the masses so far their candidate becomes the governor. All they cares about is their candidate to become the governor even if he is a thief. Idiots!
His 4 years, na fight he take am fight. What project did he do? Tell us?
lexy2014: How is oshiomole wise for bringing ize-iyamu? How can u call that wisdom when it's d same ize-iyamu that oshiomole called all manner of names four years ago? Ur enthusiasm is misplaced because oshiomole is d biggest loser at d end of d day
You dont have respect and Watch ur word. Don't worry, your eyes will soon be cleared after the election. We are talking of the determining factors which are: Ize iyamu is popular, Federal might, APC will not want to lose only state he has in south south, Oshomonle factor and influence, Edo election has a strong implication to 2023 and many other factors. Tell us the factors that will make Obaseki wins?
lexy2014: How is oshiomole wise for bringing ize-iyamu? How can u call that wisdom when it's d same ize-iyamu that oshiomole called all manner of names four years ago? Ur enthusiasm is misplaced because oshiomole is d biggest loser at d end of d day
That one na politics. Calling doesn't have any effect. Today, Oshomonle is regretting of his action for bringing Obaseki. The fact is that APC will not open their eyes and allow Edo goes to PDP, never.
tutudesz: Very Scanty, even LG chairmanship candidate go gather people pass this one. This are APC members
Very scanty? This is just a community oo. Oshomonle is wise for bringing Ize Iyamu because he knows that he is a grass root mobilizer. I can bet it, Obaseki na goner him be. He will never defeated Ize Iyamu. APC is doomed if they lose Edo and Ondo and it will never happened. Ize Iyamu is the next Gov of Edo. Everything will be perfected at d collation centre and apart from that, Ize Iyamu is popular. Even, in a previous election, Oshomonle just used federal might wuruwuru to defeat him.
freemandela4: LoL True talk brother. Most people don't know that Edo and Ondo governorship election is for 2023 presidential election. Federal might is a must whether we like it or not. Remember what happened in osun, Ekiti and Kano.
U are wise my brother. These elections, both Edo and Ondo have implications to the 2023 for APC. They know that they will lose popularity if they dont win these two elections. Who will stop federal might? whereas everybody knows that Edo and Ondo are APC states. Declaring APC as winner cannot bring much complaints. I can bet it with everything that APC will clear the two states. Aketi own is very clear and that of Edo, Obaseki doesn't have a strong structure in Edo. Everything will be concluded and rigged at collation centres where PDP cannot do anything.
freemandela4: You called it "Error of the Highest" I call it "Mis-calculation" Some politicians don't know when to play and not to play the game. If APC wins then he (Agboola) is politically gone except otherwise.
Agbola fumbled a lot. His aggressiveness led him to failure. It is a clear game that Aketi will win. When he was not a Governor, he won Jegede. Now that he is a Governor with federal might which we can not rule out, it will be an easy victory.
ThatFairGuy1: I've never seen that post about politics that no one from that region won't mention Tinubu. Tinubu has always been their nightmare.
"Avoid popularity if you wanna have peace"
True talk bro. Tinubu is going to be great more, that is why everybody is targeting him. He has groomed so many leaders of today. I'm sure future is bright for him, especially 2023.
Dansuqi: Everything you said except your last paragraph is why apc will win.you are funny, wallowing in self deceit.you know apc will win but scared of admitting
I agree with u. APC will never lost Edo state. The fear of defeat is worrying them
OndoFirstBorn: Few hours to APC governorship primary election in Ondo State, another aspirant, Dr. Olusegun Abraham has stepped down for the incumbent governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
The Governor announced this via his twitter account. Dr Olusegun Abraham is the second aspirant that will be stepping down for the Governor within the past 24hours. Engr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele had yesterday step down for the Governor and declare his support for him.
In his tweets, the Governor said "I just got off the phone with my brother Olusegun Abraham who informed me of his decision to support my second term ambition. Together, we will keep the sun shining in Ondo State."
kahal29: Contained in Thisday Newspapers of today 20th July page 53
Fear don enter their mind. Thats how Oshomonle used thugs for u in the last guber election. Pls, take heart, APC will never opened their eyes to lose the only APC state they have in the south south after fraudulently lost Bayelsia. U never see anything.
redsun: That shows the height of moral decadence when people consider such a seasoned looter that has managed to evade methodical probes and eventual jail so far, to be a president.
It is truly a country of the blind.
Why are u calling him looter? Even when Yadua and Jonathan were ruling, nobody indicted him. You people will just hate someone without facts or reasons. You might be from southeast I'm sure. Let us change our bad orientation, pls. Tinubu is more qualified because he is wise, agile, smart, connected and brilliant.
RockHard: Even if Tinubu will end up not contesting, I see it as a good omen for the SW that he is seen to be in contention for the ticket. The region needs a strong political force with the profile, clout and connections of Tinubu to continue to stay visible as it stakes its claim to the Presidency after PMB's reign. Though I suspect he may end up endorsing someone else (e.g VP Osinbajo) for the position but nevertheless he is just as qualified as any other Nigerian to vie for the position.
I begin to understand ipob struggling for Biafra as a Yoruba man. I never supported ipob but I think ipob is somehow reasonable. HausaFulanis created Bokoharam to destroy themselves and almost half of Nigeria's budget goes to the security agencies, especially, Army. Despite that, Burutai Hausa Army Chief after embezzled all funds meant for welfare and ammunitions, is trying to frustrate a Southerner Army General who is clearing the mess created by Hausafulanis. I have said it before, Bokoharam is a virus within viruses because is an Hausafulanis bad org that is recruiting Hausafulanis to kill themselves. May God deliver Southerners from extreme Northerners.
JosEast: Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on Thursday expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the House of Representatives for supporting her candidacy for the position of Director General of the World Trade Organisation( WTO).
”I want to also thank the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, and the Nigerian ambassadors to Switzerland, WTO as well as the Permanent Mission to the UN in Geneva,” she said.
Okonjo-Iweala, who stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Geneva, also thanked the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for endorsing her candidacy as the race for the WTO top job enters the selection phase.
The former Nigerian minister of finance is vying for the top job alongside candidates from Kenya, Egypt, Saudi Arabia. UK, Moldova, Mexico, and the Republic of Korea. All the candidates are in Geneva to make presentations to the WTO General Council and address the press from July 15 – 17.
The former Finance Minister, who on Wednesday urged the WTO to elect its Director General based on merit, told NAN that given her experience as a development economist, she was best suited for the job.
”People ask me often what best qualifies you for the job – I think the WTO needs leadership. It cannot continue to do what it did before. ”If it’s to stay as one of the premier institutions of the 21st century, it needs strong leadership which is a quality I have”
”It needs knowledge of trade which I have for being a development economist which my entire career is built around. It needs someone with political skills and international connections that can reach policy makers in all countries- and I have that owing my 35 years of experience “The job needs someone who listens – and I’m a good listener and lastly someone who is solution oriented and pragmatic.
”I have experience in all sectors ranging from the public to private sectors and international civil societies as well as from multilateral organisations” “If you put all these together , you will see I’m best qualified for the job,” She stressed. NAN reports that the second phase of the selection process, in which candidates would make themselves known to members will end on Sept. 7.
Similarly, the third phase which is the consultation process would commence same day.
At the forthcoming consultation, Chairman of the General Council alongside Chairs of the Dispute Settlement Body and the Trade Policy Review Body would consult with all the WTO members to determine which candidate is best placed to attract a consensus support.
Meanwhile, WTO’s outgoing Director General Mr Roberto Azevêdo would retire in August this year after serving two terms of seven years.
