You obviously don't otherwise you would be aware of the underlying cause of the current crisis in the Congo; its very poor of you to skim over wikipedia articles then return to be cynical and defensive.
here comes the CIA killed lumumba theories blah blah blah.
,then either he has not been well served by his foreign policy advisers,or he is being intentionally ignorant
more like he is prioritizing his visits. Ghana is seen an emerging economy and soon to be oil producing so why not go there?

The secretary of state visited Nigeria so that's a consolatory price.

How comes you did not mention it?  grin grin grin grin I live in the UK and I watch all the American channels and it did not get more than 2 minutes - come on be honest!
umm the issue of debt relief or payments have come up before on CNN, PBS and countless of other network. no disrespect but it seems you are the one looking for soley negative reports on Africa

Who caused the crisis in Congo? Have you heard of Lumumba?
umm we know who patrice lumumba is.  not that much of a secret.

Why dose Zimbabwe get so much coverage? Because some White farmers got a bloody nose; why did they not give Abachas regime the same treatment?
the alarming inflation rate and election violence in zimbabwe dominated the news recently and not the fate of white farmers.

Darfur is a bad situation - its a war of Arabs trying to wipe out Africans and yes it gets plenty of coverage because its negative and tell me why do they give it so much coverage and NO HELP!!! Why has Obama not mentioned it?
no help? you mean charity groups such as doctors with borders are offering no help?  or the sudanese president being summoned with a warrant (that the AU is against) is no help? The bills passed by the UN is no help?  The support provided to the african taskforce in sudan is no help?

well lets just agree to disagree.

i hope u know the US imports more oil from nigeria than saudi arabia, and its the sweet kind they prefer in the refineries here, saudi has heavy crude instead
nigeria is 4th, while saudi-arabia is 5th.  the difference is negligible as kobo pointed out. There are US army bases in saudi-arabia and saudi's are needed in middle east peace talks.   I think it's safe to say saudi-arabia is a bigger ally than Nigeria.

But that of Israel out-weight that of Palastine. Incontestable fact.
umm it's contestable. palestinians don't even have an effective government or voice. Who does Israel negotiate with, hamas or fatah?

both sides need to stop passing the blame to one another.

nigeria, kenya and SA has arguably better freedoms and democratic idealS than these countries he happily visited,so why the double standard?
china, saudi-arabia and russia are bigger trade partners and deemed bigger priorities than the after mentioned countries.  China is need to address the issue of North Korea and saudi-arabia is a big ally in the middle-east.

You should be concerned about addressing the issues that led to the media coverage and not media coverage itself.  negativity and controversy sells.

With all due respect Botswana and Liberia two of the smallest countries in Africa? If thats all you can come up with then you have proved that Africa gets a raw deal in the media.  Thats like saying the coverage of Lithuania and Liechtenstein in the media will shine a bright light on Europe  grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Botswana - I have never seen a thing about them, what program when? Liberia, interestingly, who brought peace to Liberia? How much did Nigeria spend on Liberia and Sierra Leone? do you know?

Bob Geldof and U2 were doing concerts and getting incredible amounts of publicity when they said they were trying to save Africa.  Even Bob Geldof (a realist) said its disgraceful that a few rock stars can get so much attention for Africa but the media ignores Africans.  They were doing all of that for $2 billion.  Meanwhile Nigeria paid off $34 billion worth of debt one of the biggest debt payments of all time! Did it make the front page? Did it get any coverage?   grin grin grin grin grin Believe me the Oyinbos spend every second degrading Arfricans its a tradition - Africans are seen as Kids.
why should size matter?  Japan is a relatively small country but that hasn't stopped them from developing an economy.  It's pretty Ignorant to make fun of these countries because of their size.

Not all the debt was paid off by Nigeria as some of it was relieved and yes it did make the news.    Debt relief for african countries has made the news a number of time.  Its funny when Africans whine about media coverage.   Are these media houses lying when they show pictures of zimbabwe, congo and darfur?

the economic advancement in countries like botswana would be an example. Reconstruction in Liberia. More negatives than positives though.
PoliticsRe: Identity Guard Commercial On Nigeria.....Good Or Bad? by bawomolo(m): 11:30pm On Nov 20, 2009
it's funny when people say the good parts of african should be shown. The point is the good parts of Africa are being shown but the negative overwhelm the good parts.

Most Nigerians would be complaining if slum dog millionaire was staged in Nigeria. hey lets ignore the bad parts and act as if they don't exist.

It won't if its limited and used properly.
Basketball reviews end of game or game-altering calls, Baseball reviews whether it was a home run or not, Tennis issues I think 2 challenges per set to the players and extra if it goes into a tie break.

American football should be the standard. The coaches have challenges/timeouts (2 per half I think) - if they challenge uneccesarily/are wrong they lose a very costly timeout. Also officials can themselves initiate a review of a call during the last 2 minutes of a game.

Soccer needs to catch up with the times and institute replay asap to stop the kind of injustice that happened to Ireland. One challenge (review/replay) can be equal to a substitution if the coach ends up being wrong, that way a coach would think long and hard before challenging a call on the field.
I agree, just restrict what can be challenged.

a classic example would have being Ikpeba's penalty kick during the nations cup cheesy. It won't slow down the game if used effectively.

commerce, yea they came to trade in slaves
nope, the initial form of exchange among europeans and africans was trade for goods such as palm oil, gold, copper, peanuts spices etc.  Slavery became a more profitable venture after that.  Missionaries like Livingston actually campaigned against slavery, especially the Arab slave trade. What they did encourage was colonization.

civilization, are u a damn fool too? did the white man build the bini kingdom too? or the oyo, kanem bornu empires,or the igbo civilization too
what was your dads forefathers doing going back to before the white man showed up?who was feeding them, how come they were able to take more than 100million able bodied men women and children out of africa,if we were just sitting around dying of starvation with no civilization?
civilization my foot, that must be the biggest joke i heard this year
This were the ideas of the missionaries not mine.  Learn to read people. there was always an exchange of technology and craft between Europeans and Africans.  There is evidence Africans adopted ideas from Europeans such as gun making and the printing press (brought by the missionaries).
