Djdamian: Summary of his POV
E-hailing doesn't offer much benefit for investors (I fully agree); it primarily benefits drivers using their personal vehicles. Those seeking hire purchase or rental deals may find them scarce due to limited investor interest in the business at this time. I fully agree with you too considering the fact that the LAsema Fiverr Digital marketer destroyed your car in 2 weeks and moved on. Investors have always been on the receiving end in this hustle. There is no way you will flog a rental car for 3 years in lagos and wont need a major repair that will gulp part of the return. I still find it hard to believe people can drive for 3 yrs without any side hustle and be able to maintain a family and have a normal life. That's why i will always respect people that have been driving for more than 3 yrs, I don't know how they do it.
Las las the hustle is not for everybody |

Fibel: And to add , I’ll always be grateful for experiences gathered while in e-hailing because it made me more disciplined and put food on my table while I up-skilled. Discipline that made me stick through the process.
And also to those who think all 9-5 jobs are shitty, I’ll beg you to reconsider. I’ve been an entrepreneur, I have driven albeit for a short while but I’ll tell you that nothing beats the peace of mind that comes with a nice corporate job, especially if you’re in IT. The least I saw anyone earn around me was 400k and those were entry level . Don’t let anybody fool you if you’re young , driving is not a transferable skill that can put you in a good place if you want to japa or live a fulfilled life abroad. If you’re dedicated , your skill can aid your japa as I am a living witness . At the end of the day , it’s a personal choice and all man must run his own race. God bless you real good, I’ve been saying this things them turn me to talking down on the hustle. I will never talk down on the hustle that put food on my table and help me to pay bills while Nigeria was happening to me. My point has been don’t dwell on it, at long run it won’t pay you. northbird: Anyone looking for rentals or Hp , you need to be more proactive.. or find alternative ways to earn money if driving is the ONLY skill you have. - part time driver ,weekends.. - delivery of cars - relief driver.
It's increasingly difficult to get cars for rentals/Hp because every day you are having fewer investors in the ehailing biz. The returns are not worth it ...Lower fares means lower earnings which in turn translates to lower returns for the investor.
If you buy a functional naija used corrolla for 3.5m . Don't be surprised, you won't get returns on your investment in 2 years.. is that business?
In 2022, bajaj motorcycle was 360k.. brand new and weekly delivery was 9k. In 10 months, you have recouped your money on a Bajaj. and you still have a fairly good motorcycle standing.
On ehailing, it could take forever.
ROI on ehailing is too poor. This thread eeehhhh yesterday e-hailing paying better than salary earners. Today, returns are not worth it ...Lower fares Tomorrow someone will still come up with its the best thing.... I paid off my HP car in 2years and after buying the car he goes back to his second hustle and drive only on weekends. which one come pay pass 1st hustle or 2nd hustle |

As for if there is still land for less than 1m in Epe, u r still displaying ignorance for something that is happening in ur adult life time. If u have 1m and u want a land in epe reach out to me. Information is the key. If I talk e go be like person Dey brag na why I just keep quiet but for real estate I get small mouth. one baba told me they were begging him to buy land at Omole phase2 at 80k he laughed that who will live inside bush with monkeys and snakes. He get houses for surulere but still regretting till today. In 2011 my colleagues but lands 750,000 lekki phase 2, 2 months after I wan buy beside them it was 1.3m with begging I bought 2 plots. In 2012 another colleague bought beside me 1.7m the last person that bought was 2.5m same 2012. Fast forward to 2019 them call me say they wan collect my land oo. I rush go there na only me on the street never fence and put gate. I thought I was dreaming bare bush don turn city in 7yrs. They have street names, all our roofs must be green color. Before I jappa I wan sell one of the plots and realized there was an estate gate at the entrance. I had to change my mind, No more lands in the estate only houses. Resurgent2016: It is a good buy for someone who is risk-averse. And as you have mentioned , the uncertainty in the economy, there are not many investments that can give you that return without sizeable risk in the current nigeria.
However, you are unlikely to have a windfall at the end of the tenure of those bonds when you take the money into the market to buy things and you see how much prices have changed in 2-3 years Imagine dollar to naira as at Friday was 1300, it’s 1,428 today and it’s been going upward since last week yet federal govt has been running after bureau de change… since April. Like they figured it out. Maybe fuel will be selling at #2,500 next year who knows |

Itsrm: Good points.
The ROR over the course of 3 years is an average of 24% which is truly less than the rate of inflation as you have noted. However, there is hardly any passive investment that guarantees you a return above inflation especially in the short term.
What we can do is try our best to invest in assets with returns not too far from inflation rate. My current investment portfolio is a mixture of Tbills, eurobonds and cryptocurrency so I'm staying as close to inflation as possible.
I'm also hoping the DMO come up with those 15-25 year bonds at current rates so I can lock in. Over the course of 25 years, my ROR is guaranteed to beat inflation Did you just say 25years I will rather buy lands and keep it for 25 years than Govt bond. With this Agbado president and APC Padi Padi govt? I can never predict what happen in 8yrs. See how many foreign companies are leaving Nigeria ? Who would have ever imagined dollar will get to #1,600 in few months ? Are you for real or you dey play |

Itsrm: This is the current rate for three year savings bond.
Your 50m with interests reinvested and compounded will give you 91m+ after three years.
And it is "risk free". This is interesting Buhari made it unattractive didn’t know it has picked up again. 17% is not bad Thanks for the update Only be say we no know how much naira go depreciate in 2yrs time with the way it’s falling per second per second. |

Itsrm: You keep painting a rosy picture of real estate which is far from reality. First, tenants will not always pay. Some will even drag you to court and waste your time and money. Everytime a tenant leaves, you spend half the rent you receive to renovate the house. There's no guarantee you'll sell the house for profit if you decide to.
That's assuming the lagos state commissioner does not demolish your house before you sell.
Also, you left out fixed income securities. People are just waiting for the DMO to issue long term bonds at current rates so they can lock in.
If you buy a 25 year bond with 50m at around 20%, it will be worth 6.5bn naira at maturity if interests are reinvested and compunded. That's a risk free 13,000% ROR. Goodluck getting it from real estate. Mbok in Tinubu’s Nigeria or Goodluck Jonathan ? Immediately Buhari entered buying of bonds became worse than fixed deposit. Unless this present Govt reversed the policy of not na no go area |

Barbiturate: This hustle will change your character if you're not patient and careful! I did the unthinkable and I regret it so badly.
I just entered my car, started it, then she started shouting that her luggage is in the trunk. Omo, I zoomed off. Entered the next street and parked there. She started calling, crying and begging me that she will pay any amount for her luggage.
Came back and I quickly dropped her luggage. Entered my car sharply and drove off immediately. She reported me. Bolt blocked me. I sent them a mail explaining what happened. They said next time I should leave the rider and report to them. They unblocked me the next day.
Notwithstanding, I still hate my actions though! That was never my kind of person. No vex oo But I don’t think the hustle will change your character it can change your mindset but not your character. I believe that was a part of you that you never knew existed. When men are under pressure they exhibit characters that will shock even themselves. Husband that never slapped a woman before will get married and slap his wife cos of pressure. I thought Uber/bolt was compensating drivers for “Rider did not pay” complaints Bolt should be a professional and prestigious way of transport. You shouldn’t be fighting for your money if riders don’t pay bolt should pay and block rider But I don’t blame you at all after queuing for fuel, you don’t want to take chances of loosing money and hearing stories from bolt.
