Programming / Re: Programmers How Would You Approach This Task? by bb6xt(m): 9:09pm On May 11, 2015
An easier way to go about it is to have a fixed point of reference in time. Say for example you played the first video at 10.00 am UTC and a visitor comes in 10 minutes later a DOM ready callback should check the current time in the same time zone as the one used by the server as a reference point and skip that much ahead on the video or play the next one at the proper time if the first would have finished.

But this is a hack and I haven't done it before but I think it is possible to implement it this way.

Obama visited the President of Ghana so Ghana is better and greater than U.S.A I guess.I don't know why there are sooo many fools in nigeria who reasoned with their ass.

If the visit was at our initiative or our president was being invited to attend some occasion of national significance to Egypt like their independence or something else it would be quite ok. In my eyes this invitation is very arrogant and rude and as such should be ignored.

@OP stop giving us zobo here!! Even 50k can't be enough to celebrate one's birthday let alone of wedding!! You can't tell this honourable house of nairaland that you bought 2 bags of rice which I know is worth 20k, bought packs of fish and other miscellaneous expenses with 30k!! That's trash man! WHAT IS WORTH DOING IS WORTH DOING WELL! You ended up embarrassing yourself before your inlaws and the entire whole village! You should have saved up atleast 200k for an average wedding I wonder why the rush in the first place when you aint even ready!! I'm planning to do my white and Trad this year and I've tried all I can to make an average budget evrything will cost about 400k. That's even the minimum!!! For both traditional Rites which include marriage LIST, Trad, and white wedding. All will be done same day just to save cost. When I saw your thread I got attracted to read how you made it with just 50k but then, that's way below average! Just CLASSLESS! How do you do such lifetime event without serving people with common pure water, mineral and meat? Wow!! Who does that? Shameful bro!!!

@mrking3 I am interested to know how you plan to do your trad and white wedding with just 400k. I would like to get married myself but am planning on just trad+court and maybe a little reception. I am looking at a similar budget as yours hence it'll be very helpful if you could give me the breakdown of your planned expenses to guide me. Does this include intros, lists etc? what part of the country is your fiancé from? what city will you be holding it in, how many guests etc. I look forward to your response.

An advice for the OP: ensure that anyone requesting for info about your business plan/marketing strategy etc signs a nondisclosure/noncompete agreement of some sort in order to avoid stories that touch. I wish you success in finding an investor.

I love Python and Django. I've been using Python since 2010. I use PHP/Yii2 in my day job but Python is my go-to language. For small apps and restful APIs I prefer flask though.

Is it legal for an employer to track an employee's private phone? Definitely NO! Are there any guarantees that such an employer will stop tracking the employee after he stops working for the employer? Again the answer is NO! Should an employer be allowed to act in this illegal manner? Hell NO!

However, to the best of my knowledge no current mobile OS (iOS, Android, Windows Phone) allows any third party app to track a user unless the user explicitly accepts to give such permission to the app.

Nature already did that is why it even exists. For your information every hole be it mouth or any other is full of harmful bacteria.

Whatsoever a legally married, consenting adult couple chooses to do with each other in their privacy is entirely their business.

Politics / Can A General Legally Defy The Lawful Order Of His Commander In Chief? by bb6xt(m): 3:05pm On Feb 08, 2015
I recently read on this forum that some top generals of the Nigerian military wrote a letter to the chairman of INEC stating unequivocally that they WILL NOT provide security for the elections unless the elections are postponed. After reading that post some questions kept tugging at my heart which I have decided to share with you all in hopes that someone out there might enlighten me.

1. Does the generals concerned answer to Jega that they should write to him directly?
2. If indeed the Commander in Chief ordered his generals to provide security for the elections despite ongoing battle in the NE wouldn't it amount to mutiny if his generals refused a direct order from their C-in-C?
3. If 6 weeks is all the time we need to quell the menace of BH which has proved intractable for at least 6 years why have we let it fester for so long?
4. If we were attacked by a foreign army in our western border with Benin republic would the armed forces leave that theater without any defense because they are too busy in the NE?

No army goes to war fully prepared. No army ever possesses all the logistics it requires to conduct a war. This is the very reason that gave rise to the field of Operations Research/Systems Science.

Jonathan is afraid of what the polls hold for him and wants the elections postponed possibly indefinitely. It is ok to be afraid but what I can't stomach is the cowardly manner he has used to achieve this while giving the impression that insubordination and disregard of the strict discipline and flow of command that is the hallmark of any professional armed forces is forgivable.
Programming / Re: Cherrypy, Flask And Other Python Micros..... by bb6xt(m): 4:57pm On Feb 03, 2015
basbone:
..can i really improve my cv learning them?? Are there future job prospects with these micro frameworks? Please i need experience advice. Dont ignore.

If you are concerned about improving your CV then you'll be better off sticking to .NET (C# mainly), Java or PHP. My goto language is Python but in my day job most of my time is spent in PHP land (with Yii2 framework). You can keep learning Python and add either C# or Java to that to open you up to more opportunities. No knowledge is wasted.

If you think learning 2 languages is tough I would advice you bite the gun because you will be using multiple languages anyway.

As regards Django framework I think it is an excellent framework. However, django is all too all encompassing which may overwhelm a beginner. I started out with django framework when I delved into web programming in Python. Back then I used to like full-featured frameworks but now my preference has tilted towards lean frameworks.

Here we are with our mr integrity who falsified his result and lied to millions of learned Nigerians.
If qualifications are no longer a standard for employment then our government should stop making our parents go through untold hardship sending their children to school as it is of no use to them cause they can seek for any position in the society with no qualification. All am saying is let the right thing be done.

How can you claim someone falsified his result when he swore to an affidavit that he doesn't have the result to start with? Last time I checked forgery is when you present false documents which he never did. To vindicate him further it was the Nigerian army under GEJ that came out to declare his ssce results. Don't play to the gallery, check your facts before saying anything otherwise you may make a fool of yourself

I am as good a Christian as any yet I support GMB. Stop being an ethnic chauvinist. Buhari's current support base cuts across regional, ethnic and religious lines. Please ask yourself this question, if Buhari's record with respect to corruption is anything short of impeccable why isn't the PDP using it against him but have chosen rather to stir up religious and sectional sentiments instead? If you are honest with yourself you'll agree with me that corruption is the greatest undoing of this great nation. If choosing to give a man whom even his enemies acknowledge his integrity a chance at leading a nation under the scourge of corruption is being silly then I'll gladly accept the tag.

Hi guys,

A lot people have been complaining about Nairaland's interface, But nobody attempted it. I said to myself, why not try it and see what comes out. Here is what I came up with.

Two different UI's for the Frontpage :

The first one is a list system similar to what we have now. Only less cluttered.

The second is a grid system. what are your thoughts?

Tedjazz, dat grid way you dey suggest for the second image nearly give me heart ache as I begin imagine how many times I go click load more before I see complete page of topics in the current design. Abi you go dash me free data?
Programming / Re: Reimagining Nairaland's Interface by bb6xt(m): 5:00pm On Jan 29, 2015
Before you start redesigning NL pls first change the page numbering, and maybe use slugs only in the topic urls. Most every programming languages out there use zero-based indexes and as programmers we are cool with that but it sometimes feels odd to see a page 0 on NL. grin grin grin

PS:

...#I'm a science student and as you know spoken English is not important...( overlook any misspelled words or Misused words)

You can't write proper English plain and simple, don't excuse your ignorance by making spurious claims. But it'd seem you still have a chance to make amends so I hope you take it. Believe me, unless you are living in a none English speaking country, you desperately need sound English grammar. Job aptitude tests mostly consist of tests of your verbal and quantitative reasoning, and your poor grammar is surely a minus at job interviews.

Back to software development, a thorough understanding of the software requirements document (SRS) is key to designing and implementing a solution that will meet the client's needs. Internal project reviews with other developers, Business Analysts and Project Managers are also a normal part of software development process and all these require a good grasp of the language in which they are undertaken. So, if you desire to be a well rounded professional never take any part of your training for granted.

You made a terrific choice when you decided to learn *nix. Most tools and programming languages were first developed on *nix before being ported to other platforms. The core of OSx is Unix. If you are a software Dev you'll greatly benefit from using Linux unless Microsoft Windows is your primary target or you use .NET technologies only.

There is something inherently wrong when the one making such a threat is the chief security officer of the state whose responsibility it is to guarantee safety and security of all irrespective of their religion, tribe or political leaning. If Mr. Yero is incapable of being an unbiased umpire in the affairs of his state especially as it relates to the security and peace of his constituents then I daresay he does not deserve to be the governor.

You're jumping the gun here, the comparison isn't implying that GMB is as smart as Einstein but just pointing out that being able to memorize ones phone number or not isn't a measure of ones smartness.

As some Nairalanders are wont to put it, how does that affect the price of garri? GEJ can memorize his number so has that made him any better.

It is only a daft and totally clueless person that will cast aspersions on another's competence simply because that person can't memorize an 11 digit number. The evidence is in the great disparity in on the job performance of students who crammed to pass exams vis a vis those who studied to understand and internalize the concepts being taught. If you can't see this I imagine you belong to the former category rather than the latter.
