chaplin4u:

Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. 3:11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. 3:12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
Quite coincidentally that is always the verse quoted in its defense, no one ever quotes the one which says we should eat our tithe with our neighbors and loved ones in open celebration, am also sure your pastor will frown at you if you give him fowl and semolina as tithe even though the famous Mal 3:8-11 talks of food in the Lord's house.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Online Registration Process For Nigerian Immigration Service Recruitment 2013 by bb6xt(m): 9:20am On Sep 13, 2013
dammysphere: I urge everyone not to fall a prey to this scammers.immigration is not recruiting now.log on to www.immigration.gov.ng which is the officiat website.pls type recruitment in the search engine and see the result.be WARNED!!!

I would like to address your concerns about the email address (cdfipb.support@drexeltechglobal.com). Drexel Technologies is the technical partner in the online recruitment process. Since any issues users might encounter on the site will be of a technical nature to which CDFIPB will not be able to provide answers it is only logical for the technical partners to handle such user queries.

Besides, the government officials may not be able to give timely response as a dedicated technical partner would.

PRESS STATEMENT
NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE
RECRUITMENT: BEWARE OF FRAUDSTERS
It has been brought to the attention of the
Nigeria Immigration Service that some
unscrupulous Nigerians have continued to post
advertorials on the internet calling for
submission of applications for recruitment into
various cadres in the Nigeria Immigration
Service as well as demanding for some amount of
money to be deposited into certain bank
accounts for the recruitment.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration wishes
to re-iterate that the NIS is presently not carrying
out any recruitment exercise at any level.
Therefore, the CGI calls on members of the public
to be wary of the antics of these few fraudsters to
avoid falling prey to them.
The CGI wishes to reassure Nigerians that
whenever the Service will commence
recruitment, the public will be duly informed in
the manner prescribed by Federal Civil Service
Rules and Regulations as well as other relevant
statutes to ensure fairness, equity and that only
qualified persons that meet our contemporary
needs are recruited.

If you ever want to start playing in the big league building enterprise apps that are maintenable you better ditch that spaghetti mentality and pick a framework or even build yours! You think it is "badass" to not use frameworks but it only shows how limited your knowledge is. Frameworks impose structure and best practice in software development. No beef intended, just some hard truths.

I've used JetBrains' IntelliJ and it is excellent. Unlike Eclipse which requires a plugin IntelliJ has android support built-in with a very nice drag n drop ui designer. For C# devs Xamarin seems to be the way to go but I've not tried it though.

SpicyMimi: Thanks a lot, i really do appreciate.

Concerning the issue of wearing Trousers, its written in the bible that a Male shall not wear a woman's cloak neither should a Female wear a Man's cloak.

Really i just want to please God, not Men....bt sometimes i feel guilty when i wear Make-ups, bt when its just little....i dont feel any guilt.

I will take frosbels advice with a pinch of salt if I were. Let the Spirit lead you and make decency ur watchword. Also remember that the bible admonishes that we should not let our freedom cause others to stumble. May the Spirit of God guide u, amen.

Programming / Re: Lets have a Mobile App For Nairaland by bb6xt(m): 3:52pm On Jun 08, 2013
It'd be nice if @Seun would standardise the API as a RESTFul or XML webservice and sell developer licences that will give an app access to the platform and leave d task of building d mobile clients to anyone who can afford d licence. In this way a healthy competition will ensue thereby enhancing naija's software sector. If he has concerns on adverts on d site he can get business persons to find other ways of improving advert earnings without foreclosing mobile apps, after all most online services whose income is primarily advert-driven also have mobile apps eg facebook.
Computers / Re: Lessons Windows Taught Linux (and Other Os'es) by bb6xt(m): 3:36pm On Jun 08, 2013
If u are a programmer u are much better of with a *nix based system unless u are a .NET programmer (even that can be done with MonoDevelop!). Personally I can't do without opening a couple of tabs in my terminal (Konsole) even if I just want to listen to music and this has nevr bn an issue. I hardly use Muon Software Center or Muon Package Manager but would rather use apt-get or even dpkg if am feeling really badass. The unix/linux way is simplity at its finest, whats more, it gives u absolute control! But its not for everyone. However, if u r a programmer (not .NET) and don't use linux/unix u r missing a great deal. In fact, u r on a looong thiinggg!

Politics / Re: Okorocha Threatens To Arrest Idle Youths by bb6xt(m): 6:43am On May 23, 2013
@Missonas: I am not against the idea entirely but the willy-nilly part of it. Some people might have jobs which don't require them going to office daily, say like a software developer. Arresting such a person simply because he is sitting in front of his house will be wrong. Hard as it might seem to imagine this scenario it is still quite valid. So if such a fellow is arrested and compelled to "sharpen cutlasses" wouldn't this be akin to forced labor/slavery?
Politics / Re: Okorocha Threatens To Arrest Idle Youths by bb6xt(m): 8:24pm On May 21, 2013
Forcing a man to work is slavery. It is even moreso when u compel him to work in some demeaning, menial chore irrespective of his training or competencies. Someone should let Okorocha know that slavery was abolished hundreds of years ago. I've always respected this man but this posturing is ill-adviced and reeks of crass showmanship and playing to the gallery.

Over 1.7m candidates sat 4 the last JAMB UTME and every single one of them registered with a digitalpersona fingerprint scanner so it is definitely available in Naija. Nabteb uses SecuGen and other scanners. I know a friend who bought a new digitalpersona U4500 for 25k in Jos. So depending on ur location am sure u can find one easily. U may also enquire @ any cybercafe near u where JAMB reg was done 4 where 2 buy frm.

Timileyin: which one of this frameworks can i use and not use there models and layout structure.. just want to plug it into a currently built application and use some functions
to the best of my very limited knowledge of php frameworks i believe symfony2 is very loosely coupled and you can pick exactly what you wish to user and you are not tired to any particular directory layout.
Programming / Re: Can I Call Myself A Good Programmer If I Only Know Visual Basic by bb6xt(m): 2:38pm On May 09, 2013
You can definitely be an exceptional programmer if you stick with vb or .net but you will be limiting yourself. I started out with vb.net but left it since 2010 for python, along the way I picked up java, c++ and javascript (server-side javascript/nodejs). However, last week I was invited for a job interview/coding test for a role which required quite a bit of vb.net even though my cv clearly stressed on my python skills. So what am saying is unless you are ok on your own it wouldn't hurt to have another language on your cv. There are over 15 languages which are based on C/C++ including java, php, C#!
Programming / Re: Finger Print Application With C# by bb6xt(m): 12:18pm On May 08, 2013
You can get a digitalpersona U4500 for about 25-27k. They have SDKs for many languages/platforms. It shouldn't be more difficult than building an ordinary desktop app, plus their api is really easy almost intuitive. Another one is VeriFinger whose SDK has generic api for many finger print scanners. The SDKs are in 2 categories, paid and free. The free one has limited functionality such as the size of your finger print database, fingerprint quality/resolution etc but you can still use it for recognition, capturing and validation/matching and generally getting a feel of the api.
