Seun: How many of them are doctors? My point is not that he needs to study ICT formally, but that he cannot hope to achieve much if he tries to combine ICT and medicine/law. All the people listed above worked full time in ICT in order to achieve what they achieved. They did not achieve greatness in their spare time while pursuing ICT as a hobby. They faced it squarely. Can you imagine Bill Gates building Microsoft in his spare time while pursuing a medical degree? It's arrogant to think you can achieve much without focus.
I believe Michael Dell dropped out of med school, even if none is a doctor.

If you feel he doesn't need to go to school to excel in IT, then you're agreeing with my position. For medicine on the other hand, there is no way in hell he can become a doctor without going to school; thats the bottom line. However, the dude has a scholarship he is unsure of what to use for.
He should go study medicine and then come out and face IT squarely (if he's still interested) or drop out of med school like Michael Dell if he's unto a winner.

I wonder if Button will still be with McLaren next season. His driving this year is just atrocious! To make matters worse, he complains on the about everything under the sun, even his own faults. Imagine complaining that he was locking his front right into corners, as if he wasn't the one putting his foot on the damn break pedal!

Dude is rapidly overtaking Massa as the most annoying driver. angry

On another note, it was nice to see Ron Dennis in the McLaren garrage through the weekend.

"The present mudslinging is not unexpected in view of the caliber of people whose actions or inactions were found wanting in the report. I am aware that in their desperation to discredit the report and divert the attention of the public from the real issues of large scale fraud in high places established in our report, a video footage displaying a caricature of my person allegedly having a dealing with a marketer reminiscent of military ear when dignitaries were invited to the Villa to watch video clip of phantom coup involving Chief Olusegun Obasanjo is already in circulation.

Seun: Nonsense. How many breakthroughs in IT have been achieved by medical doctors who engage in IT in their spare time? How can you compete with someone who wakes up every morning to do IT, does IT all day, and then goes to sleep at night doing IT while you are busy doing struggling with medicine? A medical doctor doing IT in his/her spare time would have to be a genius to achieve anything notable in IT, and even in that case he/she would achieve much more without the burden of medicine. Let's not promote mediocrity.
You will find that many IT guru's are self taught. IT is an area in which anybody with brains can do very well; people like that litre the place, from the wordpress guy to Bill Gates.

A sharp person doesn't need school to do well in IT. Here are the names of the most famous IT dropouts, its an awe-inspiring list:

Steve Jobs (Apple)
Steve Wozniak (Apple)
Michael Dell (Dell Computers)
Kevin Rose (Digg)
Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook)
Paul Allen (Microsoft)
Bill Gates (Microsoft)
Larry Ellison (Oracle)
Mike Lazaridis (Research in Motion)
Daniel Ek (Spotify)
David Karp (Tumblr)
Jack Dorsey (Twitter)

Exactly! It is a legal requirement of office that you have absolutely nothing to do with any official matter that involves a family member.
if he's a loving n caring father, den he wouldnt ve commit crime
Really? I don't see the connection between being criminally inclined and being a loving, caring parent. They are two totally different things.
There are many loving and caring parents who are criminals.

Anyway, sis. I take it you would be jailing the parent, not for any crimes, but for poor parenting. That is just wrong, cos such things should be left to God.

Billyonaire: My moral authority has no gravity where my family is concerned, family first, f.ucck the system, I resign and keep my family together.
Simple as ABC. cool
Any sensible person would resign and let the system take over.

It would take some degree of insanity for anyone to jail their father, especially if he is a loving and caring parent. If the system is worth its salt, then someone else would do the jailing after the child has resigned.
Politics › Re: The President's Asset Declaration by Beaf: 9:30pm On Jun 10, 2012
Dejiro: Obasanjo and Yar'adua were never really serious with their anti-corruption campaign. I am sure everybody will agree to this. Is GEJ interested in fighting corruption at all? The news that is being unsuccessfully covered is that Nigeria is broke and has been borrowing heavily to finance the government. So basically GEJ is borrowing from our future not to finance our present, but to satisfy his insatiable cronies. Somebody suggested we need to tear this system down and re-build from the scratch. Is this advise against 2015?
The system breeds corruption. Until it is uprooted, we will continue running around aimlessly and expending energy at shadows.
It is for the people to understand that no country can succeed with our political architecture and decide they've had enough of it.

As long as our current constitution is in force, even Jesus Christ as President would have to play by the law. Its as simple as that.
A faulty structure will always spring leaks, no matter how many bandages you apply. If people could hit the streets for the completly selfish reason to keep the fuel subsidy, despite the corruption it engendered; why can they not come out and demonstrate for true federtalism?

The fruits of true federalism are; accountability and true representation of the citizen at all govt levels, reward for enterprise and healthy inter-region competition, an equitable contract citizen-state contract and the end of our anti-development free oil money awuf culture.
Until we uproot the system, tear up the freaking constitution to get these things in the door, any calls to end corruption would amount to repairing a collapsing bridge with bandages; mere barking in the wind.

double j1: To say the truth jailing your dad is the hardest thing for a african to do. But if we truly and sincerely want our country to be a better place we should not tolerate any thing that cause a threat to the balance of the country, be it who. Thats why a person who comes from a family who have the feeling that my relative cant do anything to me should try in as much as posible to avoid anything to do with his relatives when it comes to justices but if he do the repercaution will set him of balance.

Frankly speaking i would give my old man a chance to return what ever he stole with immediate effect, if he refuses he is on his own.
Nobody can jail their loving parents, except a mad person or a beast.
In the most advanced countries, politicians resign when compromised by family. Even then, they still cover up for their families.
Those here claiming they can jail their fathers are either mentally unbalanced or just hypocrites telling shamesless lies.

BetaThings: Of course, all crooks should go to hades
But I can see that some people detest corruption the legislature and wink at dirty hands in the executive

As for landmines, there are more eggheads thinking, plotting and stirring up intrigues for GEJ than people in the House can muster
All the security agencies who can pry into anything and use any tool to plant and ferret out info are working for GEJ
My problem with GEJ is that he is too comfortable with criminals. Otedola is one
If you are clean, how can you be chummy with crooks?
Where is your proof that Otedola is a criminal?
I really hope that one day an NLer will be sued for libel.

As for those "thinking, plotting and stirring up intrigues for GEJ," they have repeatedly proven themselves to be inept; GEJ always very quietly outsmarts them. Its becoming boring now.

drzed: This thread started by acidtalk is a neutral topic, (no mention of Farouk Lawan, PDP or even GEJ in it). It contains some inspiring words, which none of us is obliged to agree with. So can you (Beaf) not assess it on its own merits without resorting to insults? What is wrong with you man? And your constant reference to 'born to rule' is beginning to sound like a scratched/looping CD. Face the issue and try to control your anti-north sentiments, please. I expect you are mature enough to understand my point without insulting me, yes?

Thank you.

Dude, Farouk demanded a huge bribe from Otedola (or he would phuck him up). The matter was reported to the relevant agencies; the SSS provided the marked notes and the spy pen to video the rat. Case closed.
Otedola did not commit any crime.

Who told you he didn't spend or share any of the marked dollars? Are you in the SSS to know such? This is how you people start spreading lies and unsubstantiated rumours.
The only party that can tell if the marked notes are complete is the SSS, because they alone know what markings they put on the notes and the forensic measures required to reveal them. An ordinary NLer like you or me cannot say.

nsiadi: Still wandering y Farouk Lawan still heads the Education Committee
Are his aids & friends dumb too? No hind sight! He 4got Elumelite & Hembegate so soon
He is not fit to be a law maker. His fight wt the integrity group to oust Ette is suspect
He must have gained immensely from it. We must go back to toothcomb all his dealings in the house
& now is the time b4 he commits suicide--seems thats the only option he has.

He went to equity wt dirty hands. He left law making to delve into politics wt out learning the ropes
Anybody defending him shd join him in hell. He deserves no pity. All his rebuttals are suspects
He has dis appointed his masters. Who knows how he has been arm twisting other companies
I love the healthy relationship bw the house & the executive. It keeps throwing up the dirt in the house
Those who believe GEJ has no balls are naive. In spite of numerous land mines he still navigates
OBJ is not a spent horse yet. Recently he took a swipe on lawmakers. I thought they will drag him to the floor
Same OBJ said Buhari is upright--he will make him run in order to split their votes --later he will call him him a fooooo

Politics › Re: Subsidy Probe: How SSS Burst $3m Bribery Scandal by Beaf(op): 3:55pm On Jun 10, 2012
Your continued attempt at defending GEJ and his associates is a disgrace, to say the least. Did you wonder what could be contained in the public subsidy report and other classified information, which could have prompted Farouk to believe that Odetola would be willing to pay $3million to make it go away? Beaf, all you can say is that Odetola is yet to be convicted of any crime, but to categorically state that Odetola commited no crime leaves one speachless.

The EFCC should investigate the SSS to determine who received bribes from Odetola and to investigate why the SSS decided to use a potential fuel subsidy criminal in a sting operation. This looks like an attempt to shield Odetola, GEJ's financier, from prosecution. SMH
The SSS provided the money Otedola used; it was even forensically marked for the purpose. What part of that don't you understand, bro?
Do you want to suggest an EFCC officer for the hilarious task of investigating the SSS?

The SSS took the action, because it was clear that Tambuwal, Farouk and co were playing a dangerous game with the nations security (with the pro-subsidy riots in mind) by roping in innocent people they considered 'enemies of the "North"' for project 2015, as well as those who didn't cough up money. As we say in Wafi, "God kash dem!" grin
