It is now obvious to all and sundry that Tinubu has moved from being the overlord in 2015 to an underdog in 2022, just a year to the election. It's even possible that it'll not just rain but pour on Tinubu. Everything that could get wrong is getting wrong to the point that it'll be an upset for Mr Tinubu to come second in the election. In fact, he may likely drag number 3 with Kwakwanso. How did it get so bad for the Lagos landlord?

I think he hadn't reckoned with the emergence of Obi, but rather anticipated a contest between the north and the south. Tinubu was depending on Southern sentiment to arm twist the north with cries of it's the turn of the south. Unfortunately for him, Obi happened and Nigerians just love him.

It's obvious that Tinubu has invested heavily in northerners to buy their loyalty prior to this time. The man and his mafia had hoped that PDP would field a Southerner from SE/SS. They would have used tribalism, religion and ethnic hatred to arm twist the north to support Tinubu who would have been sold as 'a friend of the north' but unfortunately for Tinubu, Atiku happened and became his nemesis in the North. The north no longer need a friend but "one of their own".

And it gets worse...

With Atiku in the picture, Tinubu panicked ... Atiku is a Muslim and Tinubu has no hope of mass votes in the south. The SE and SS are no go areas for him. Now the north that he banked on for years is slipping off his fingers. What was he to do? Tinubu goofed and went to a Muslim running mate to counter Atiku.
He effectively became the only candidate with an opponent in the north stopping his progress and an opponent in the south stopping his progress. That is the story of Tinubu. From overlord to an underdog.

You have been a worthy ally all these years on Nairaland and I respect your opinion and choice.
I am glad that you acknowledge the fact that you like Tinubu and despise Obi but has decides to support the Obi you despise over the Tinubu that you like.

As an insider, I can authoritatively say that banks profits from Loans are the least contributing component of their overall income.

No bank relies on loan interest component for profit at least in Nigeria.

The climate is not conducive for it. We are terrible as a people at servicing debts and loan repayment. A good question would be, why don't the banks jump at it with smiles when people request and apply for loans?!

Even such loans that are collateralised with big properties, how easy it is to liquidate such properties and recover depositors funds especially when you factor in the principle of time value for money?

To cap it up, how much is the interest sef, 25% per annum or in that range... abysmally low when compared to the overall cost of running the bank. Ratio of defaulters are high etc...

Clearly, bank charges contribute significantly to her earnings as it is a multiplier effect. Banks are equally involved in other auxiliary and sometime complimentary services/businesses e.g Zenith bank for example runs Venus Medicare. We already know that Heirs Holding, owners of UBA operate hospitality biz as Transcorp, also GenCos... and the list is endless including very shady and dark businesses not excluding drugs.

You don't need to be a genius to know simple stuff like that.

When you put your money in the bank, the banks don't just keep it save for you inside kolo or piggybank. They loan it out for interest rate.
They loan to big and medium scale companies with low risks like dangote, mtn etc.
Then when companies service their debts, they also make huge profits. They take over companies that defaults like Etisalat which is currently owned by banks and investments and have turned to 9mobile.

They also invest the money in companies, shares to make profits.


Bank charges is just to maintain their equipment to provide quality service for you. Their main profits are not from there.

Bola has been tinubulated by the Northerners. Suffersticated politics has backfired on the face of our Yoruba people. I just pity them. After 2023, they'll go back to the opposition politics that they're specialists in since 1960. Since they think they could sell the rest of the south to please one man as they did in 2015. I pity them because they're permanently relegated. Now northerners do not trust them and Southerners do not trust them. That's the consequence of being double faced, double mouthed chamelons that betray everything betrayable. I like what the north is doing. Betray the betrayers. They thought singing Sai baba at the expense of the south would permanently keep power rotating between the SW and North to spite Ndigbo and Jonathan. Man no be God.
