Tolani Ajayi, 21, has been apprehended by operatives at the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his father, Mr. Charles Ajayi, (SAN) at the Redemption along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in the early ours of July 3.
Confirming the gory incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Sunday verbally expressed the remains of the deceased lawyer was found in a nearby bush at Canaan Land Street in the RCCG Camp, in a box where the body was kept after the Senior Advocate of Nigeria was killed by his son.
According to reports from PUNCH, the suspect who is a 300-Level student of the Department of History and International Relations of Redeemer University, located at the Redemption Camp in Ogun State, was picked up by the police in his father’s residence at about 5.30pm on Thursday after what the police described as preliminary findings
The command’s statement read in part, “The DPO, Redemption Camp, SP Olaiya Martins, had led a team of detectives and some members of the community, who noticed the strange attitude of the suspect while dumping a box, to the point, where the body of the late SAN was dumped.
“They thereafter traced the ground marks of the dragged box from where the suspect dumped the dad’s corpse to the house of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria,where they met the suspect in a relaxed mood in the house. Upon interrogation, the suspect earlier lied that his dad had gone on evangelism before he eventually confessed to the crime when he was taken to the Redemption Camp Divisional Headquarters.
“He stated further that the problem arose when his father confronted him for not responding to all the prayer points he(the deceased) was calling, claiming that the father slapped him. He said he went mad and went straight to the kitchen to pick up a knife to stab him and later a cutlass to cut his throat and killed him.”

A federal government delegate, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN yesterday called for change of the present name of Nigeria to a proposed one called “Airegin” because according to him, the name Nigeria was twisted by the colonialists and it would make a clean brake from the past.
Speaking yesterday while contributing at plenary during debate on report of committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government with Gen. Ike Nwachukwu and Mohammed Umara Kumalia as co- Chairmen, Ozekhome also called for a reversal from the present National Anthem to the former and older one which was written by Taiwo Akinwumi, adding that the old flag that was designed with the rising sun on it should be re-introduced against the backdrop that it was peculiar with all parts of the country.
The delegate who noted that when the country replaces all these, it would then help Nigeria wash off the colonial legacy, adding, “It was a colonial imposed name which should be changed to reflect originality.
“I want to move that this conference should consider changing the name of the country to reflect our originality. The name Nigeria was a colonial imposition which must be corrected. The name was given to the country by Lady Flora Shaw who later became Lady Lugard”.
According to him, prior to the change of name, Nigeria as a country was known as the Northern and Southern Protectorates meaning Niger Area or areas within the River Niger by Lady Flora Shaw, adding, “The country was known formally as the Southern and Northern Protectorates before the name change. It was changed because they said it was too long for them to pronounce.
“I suggested that the name should be changed from Nigeria to Airegin. It was just gotten when you write the name Nigeria from “Right to Left”.
On the additional one state given to the South East geo-political zone, while disagreeing with a delegate representing Federal Government and Environmental activist, Ledum Mitee who opposed the state, Ozekhome said that he supported the additional state as it will integrate the zone into the system.
He also lend his support to the Committee’s recommendation for states to serve as federating units, stressing that there is need for states to have their own constitution to reflect their peculiarities.
Meanwhile, aides of delegates particularly drivers yesterday protested to the entrance of Andrews Otutu Obaseki hall, venue of plenary sessions of the on – going National Conference over what they termed ill- treatment, but were stopped from entering by men of the department of State Security Service, SSS.
According to the aides who were led by Egwuata Remigius, they were deprived of allowances, welfare ranging from food to accommodations adding that while the delegates whom they drive sleep in hotels, they sleep in their cars.
Their placards read, “many drivers sleep in cars at hotels and parks, have we lost our moral compass?
“Justice Kutigi please do justice to our matter. We are citizens of this great country, we are in this together. Take care of us please . There is God O Mama please intercede for your children OOO. Our mothers at the conference, please speak for your Children.
“Drivers and Aides unwatered for which way National Conference, 2014. We are degree holders as aides and drivers; we are no pushover. Obasanjo paid Aides and drivers at 2005 Political Conference whitter 2014 National Conference.
The protesting Aides were however stopped by the SSS led by Emmanuel Emordi who asked them to leave with their placards.
Kutigi admits Igbeke to replace Akunyili
Meanwhile, Senator Alphonsus Igbeke was yesterday announced by Chairman of the Conference, Justice Idris Kutigi as a replacement for a former Minister of Information and Communications,Prof. Dora Akunyili.
It would be recalled that the former Director-General of the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration,NAFDAC and a delegate representing Anambra State, died Saturday June 7.
She was the third delegate to die since the inauguration of the confab by President Goodluck Jonathan 17 th March.
Igbeke’s name was announced to the plenary by Kutigi amidst applause and clapping of hands from fellow delegates.
The Senator who represented Anambra North Senatorial District on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was earlier sited by on Tuesday evening when he came to finalize his documentation with the Conference Secretariat and later confirmed that he was at the Conference to replace Akunyili .

A Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Tuesday, said he stood by his comments about the All Progressives Congress and some of its leaders, noting that he looked forward to meeting the party in court.
Fani-Kayode, who recently defected from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party, had during an interview withChannels TV, on Monday, accused some APC leaders of being sympathetic towards the Boko Haram sect. In a response, the APC threatened to sue Fani-Kayode if he did not retract the comments and apologise to the party.
In a statement on Tuesday, Fani-Kayode said he would never apologise to the APC or its spokesperson, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, for saying “the truth.”
Fani-Kayode said, “I wish to make it clear that I stand by every single allegation and assertion that I made in the said interview and that I believe strongly that the APC comprises at least a handful of Boko Haram sympathisers and questionable individuals who have at various times expressed a certain degree of support for Boko Haram.
“Though he denied it, it is on record that Lai Mohammed protested about and opposed the proscription of Boko Haram by the Federal Government in various newspapers on June 10, 2013 and he described such proscription as being unconstitutional and/or extra-constitutional and wrong in various newspapers.”
He added that Mohammed, on behalf of his party, also opposed the idea of Boko Haram being labelled as a terrorist organisation by the United States of America.

A nine-year-old Primary three pupil, Gbenga Oladejo, and his sister, Tolani, were swept inside a drainage channel on Tuesday on Agege Motor Road, Mushin, Lagos.
While Gbenga drowned and his body had yet to be recovered, 10-year-old Tolani held to an iron inside the channel and was rescued by residents.
PUNCH Metrolearnt that the victims were pupils of Myyoung Barracks Primary School in the Fadeyi, Yaba area of Lagos and were heading for school when the incident happened.
An eyewitness, Bayo Olowa, said the incident happened around 9am.
He said, “When the rain started, we were all seated here. It had gone down a little when we saw a kid slip into the drainage channel. His sister wanted to save him, but fell headlong into it as well.
“We quickly ran to the other end of the drainage channel and tried pulling the legs of one of them, but the water was too forceful.
“We however saw the elder sister holding on to an iron inside the drainage. One of us pulled her out.”
Our correspondent was taken to a private hospital in the area where Tolani was receiving treatment.
A doctor in the hospital, who did not identify herself, told our correspondent that she was in stable condition and was asleep.
When our correspondent approached her bed, she slightly opened her eyes.
Asked what she could remember last before she was taken to the hospital, Tolani said, “I and my brother were going to school this morning when we fell into the drainage channel. I don’t know where Gbenga is. I feel pains in different parts of my head now.”
PUNCH Metrovisited the mother of the victim in her house on Akobi Crescent, in front of Birch Freeman School in Surulere.
Bose, a hairdresser and Ibadan, Oyo State indigene, said she was devastated by the loss of her child.
While fighting back tears, she said, “It was around 8.45am, after the rain had subsided, that I told them to go to school.
“Ten minutes later, I decided to also go out. I saw a crowd of people saying two kids fell into the drainage. I didn’t care much and passed by them.
“It was later that I learnt that the victims were my children.”
The Social Secretary of Kubada Community Development Association, Odi Olowo Council, Adeshina Adigun said, “The flood water that forms on this road can be heavy most times and the channel is too small. Rain waters from the Railway Line, Kubiyi and Bada areas flow to this junction and flood the streets.
“Two years ago, I was involved in a weeklong search for a man’s son that was carried away by flood water. Up till now, we have not seen the boy’s corpse and that is why I doubt if we can ever see this one too.”
A resident, Jamiu Keru, suggested that an iron wall be constructed around the drainage channel so that in the event of another mishap, it would be easier for victims to be rescued.
Our correspondent called the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, but she was not reachable.

When you are doing the work of Allah, how much were you being paid?
How can somebody pay to do work of Allah? They give us money when somebody send us money to help in the work of Allah. But when there is no money we manage. Like the time they follow many of us we don’t have money so we get small-small things from small small things from people who want to help us.
But they say some people pay you to kill on their behalf. Who were those paying you money to kill others?
Many people give us money for different different reason. Many big people they give us money so that we will not kill them, some people they give our big ogas money, they say we should kill so so and so. Me I can tell you that I know many big people in Maiduguri even in Abuja they used to send money for us. During the time of politics many people they use our name to kill other people. Some of them say they are doing work of Allah also but that is not true, they are doing politics. They are the one that give us name boko haram, but our true name is Jama’atul Sunnahlida awatti wal jihad.
Is it true that Government was giving you money in Maduguri?
The former Governor Ali Sheriff he did not give us money, only to his ECOMOG people who they are doing politics together with them. All the ECOMOG they are not good muslim so we kill some of them. Their own they are politics, our own we are religion of islam, so we and ECOMOG who is SAS giving money they are not our people.
So government can give ECOMOG money but they not give us that time when SAS is Governor that is why we are angry with Governor SAS.
Governor Kashim Shettima before he is a good man but now he is not give money again to us. When he is commissioner, he can give us plenty of money. He give us money when we kill Fanami Gubio, so he can be Governor but he is not completed his payment and even the other money we are following him he no give us again. When he become Governor he continue to give us money although he abuse us in television and he give us money again then no problem, but he is not giving money after sometime. This Governor kashim he is from Maiduguri, but SAS is Ngala and Kashim he know very well what cause the problem and the people doing the work. Even the person he put for JTF he is his brother and he was do this work we are doing before.
Are you saying Governor Kashim has been giving you money to kill people?
Yes he give us money to do plenty things, like I have say it. He give money to kill Fanami Gubio, he give us money we shoot Awana Ngala and many of his enemy we have kill them. That is why we are not happy because he cannot give us the remaining money as he promise.
So now if they bring Governor here can you say it in his presence that he has been giving you money for your activities?
If he will not kill me after I can say it, but as Governor he have power to tell police to kill me. That is why am afraid of going out after I talk, but if you put Governor Kashim Shettima I can able to tell him how he has give us money since he is commissioner up to time of Governor he still give us money.
He meet with us and give us plenty money before but now he is afraid of people will know it, but he cannot deny of knowing me or Amir Abacha or Musa killer. When many people they leave Maiduguri, we did not see money again but some they are giving only to big oga in our people like Amir Gambo, he can get money from big people, like Amir Abacha he can collect money from Governor be he cannot give us only for him, that is why he ran away and left us.

It is big offence to talk about your oga to stranger, I have tell you about Governor and government how they help us but my ogas it is wrong to tell you because they can catch them, they cannot catch Governor because he is oga kwatatata and everybody must obey him.

We are more than the people of Maiduguri. We plenty in Number, Many people they run away when Governor give them money. Many they are in the camp and many we are still in Maiduguri. Some of us are from Yobe state but we are all doing one work for the Jihad of Allah. Some people sef they are doing government work but they are doing our work under under. Some they have travel to Abuja, to Lagos and many of our people they travel to Cotonou. I have once go to Cotonu but my friend Jibrin he said we can come home to Maiduguri, nothing can happen to us, now see what he has cause for us, even Jibrin they kill him when they come to catch us in Maiduguri.
If I help you to get out will you stop killing people?
I just agree to talk to you but I know you cannot be able to help me. But if I go out I can stop killing people but I will not stop doing work of Allah because as muslim my life depend on the work which I can do for Aljannah. Upto 20 singles ( a whole album) back to back rocking airways, topping charts in just 1yr, 1 year I repeat,smiles..bro here is a piece of advice putting out a lot of songs out in just 1 year is simply going to sell you short you still have a long way to go and no body does that in the world not even music icon Tupac, Jay Z and our very own Tuface idibia.
Your style is monotonous- same style,same theme of songs all I heard is baby-baby-baby, huh! People are getting bored of hearing same thing every blessed day ,baby songs will never make you a legend, it will never take you anywhere,fine it will put couple of millions in your account, buy you designer clothes and gold chains and some expensive fancy cars but for how long will that be before the brand Wizkid vanished?
Bob Marley,Tupac and Fela Anikulapo kuti became legends basically because of the unrivaled contents of their lyrics about life, reality, freedom and brutality of mankind,they did it for a long time and they did it perfectly.
Wizkid, listen and listen carefully,you need to start buying songs like a real professional,you need to go back to your winning team(Osagie and Banky W), let them be in control of your career just like when you guys started back in 2010.Remember these people are well read and older thus they possessed lots of exposure and experience you might never get in the next 10yrs.
You need to understand you are a big brand who has a name/image to protect, you need to step up your game, surround yourself with highly educated entertainment professionals not your so called semi-illiterate

Take time to pen good and meaningful songs,get professional song writers and slap it with classy expensive videos not all those 2-seconds-one-spot videos you are giving us,they are not helping your brand. “Holla at your boy” and “pakurumo ” videos became big hits and highly successful just because their story lines were carefully written- perfect scripts,good directing with high budgets which I believe is the handwork of the master planner himself,Mr. Banky W.”The matter” was a very good song-great delivery, great breath control,lovely rhythm and killer beat but the beautiful song was killed by a cheap and conceptless video.
Davido will spend his last penny to get good and well written songs and slap it with classy and High budgeted videos.He wasn’t a freak to have shot 3 videos for his hit song skelewu that shows he classy ,he’s professional, he wants the best,he has big taste ,he knows what he doings and what he wants .I see him doing different styles, very versatile, very diversify,tell me why he won’t grab those MTV awards and swept off heart of fans.Davido is practicing what I called PWMS-Professional Western Music Strategy i.e. buy songs, shoot classy videos and get good results,everybody does that around the world, that’s the professionalism, from Beyonce to Rihanna, Chris Brown to of course,the late legendary Michael Jackson. Banger Lee aka D banj aka Kinniun funfun will also spend his last to get the best producer to give him best of production and world class videos and massive promo same thing goes to the undisputed twins called “P square”.Stop doing things anyhow, stop giving us rush up jobs -production and videos,they are not helping your brand.
