donodion: Let's make this a lesson for all intending to become political leaders on this forum.
When you and your political party becomes greedy, your indigenes, town, state and nation would turn out to be the mess Nigeria, the once upon a time Giant of Africa has turned out to be.
Over 50 Years ,yet we struggle extremely hard to attain 5000 MW stable electricity. Not because we have not the accumen, but sabotage, selfish interests, ethinicity and excessive greed would not allow such feat become a reality. Imagine the billions in dollars and Naira stolen by individuals who are less than 100 in number. Not even Mugabe of Zimbabwe stole as much as these Nigerian bastards in political offices.
There can be no sustainable infrastructure if adequate and people friendly security structures are not in place.
Who would, in their right mindset be willing to invest millions of dollars into a society where kidnapping for ransom and satanic ritual, day light armed robbery and murder, unfriendly multilevel taxing system, high level corruption, fraud, sabotage, human rights abuse is the order of the day.?
How many diasporans could wholeheartedly vouch for their family members back home, overseeing their various projects successfully?.
You need to step out of our shores to observe other African countries how they, queitly taking giant strides in making lives liveable for their citizens and you would wonder what bedeviled us as Nigerians.
Recently Ghana, a country's population less than 2 million, just implemented free education system at primary and secondary school levels. I saw that on CNN yesterday. And equally working on various systems to be at par with those ahead of them. Its tasking to even get Jamb registration back home for our wards.
Kenya is indeed a beautiful country, but it took some set of individuals in government to say ' you know what, let us set aside our tribal differences. How can we place our country on the global map for the right reasons.Besides us been seen as a safari country, animals and jungles'.
Kenya saw the potentials in tourism. ( Uyo and Cross River state have same potentials). They built and sustained old existing tourist site, voted sufficient funds to build more tourist attraction site, encouraged their youth in sports and athletics( who can beat Kenyans in marathon?). Furthermore their security system make their people feel safe at home. When Al-shabab struck at the mall, the world rose to the defense of Kenya.
When you visit this countries, ask questions ,observe people's mannerism, and perhaps we might regain our lost glory.
Have a wonderful day. you get sense! one crocodile for you!

dazzlingd: You created a thread to show the beauty of Kenya, in that same thread stating dirty facts about Nigeria. How ironic?
You can in your little way promote the beauty of Nigeria and stop waiting for some leaders to that for you. Start by being the change you want hahah! please shift! The Americans I met told me they will visit Nigeria soon, I have done my part...waiting for yours! |

uboma: You have raised some valid points here.
During the two weeks I spent in Nairobi, I did not see a single generating set on the streets. Power was steady and security sure. Visit their banks to see how organised they run businesses. Kenyans employ mechanised farming, no wonder they export flowers on a daily basis to Europe. Kenya, even though a small country, is managing it's resources well.
Same cannot be said of Nigeria, the big brother of Africa! This is the same thing you will see in Ghana thats 40 mins from Lagos. Walking to a bank is like entering a supermarket! |

dazzlingd: who are the we?? you might say of yourself but I tell you most Nigerians know little about their country. Is it in the South where they think all northerners are Hausas and Muslims?? Or where they think the only developed city in Nigeria is Lagos and Abuja?? Every country has their challenges, it's an African thing not just Nigeria. You said it yourself you had to tip off the kenyan police officers $14 otherwise they send you back...Definition of corruption right at the door. You never even enter, dem don show you small colour.
Abeg, leave our country, we are not yet there but we shall get there as we work collectively to get things right.
no one says you should not appreciate other African countries, but do it without messing ours Show me where I am "messing ours" other than stating fact? There you have it wrong, we have been working collectively for years but nothing. Favt is Nigeria is too big for most of these presidents, only true federalism will bring the glory of this country to life! |

dazzlingd: Most Nigerians live all their lives without even knowing 10% of their country. All they know is Lagos and Abuja. over 75% of Nigerians don't even know the history of their country.
Nigeria is perhaps the most diverse country in Africa and that's where the beauty lies. These Kenyans and half Nigerians in this thread are speaking out of their little knowledge of Nigeria.
Nigeria is beyond Lagos and Abuja, you guys should pls be updated about your country and stop disgracing yourselves because at the end it all falls back to you. Let me take you round Nigeria and you will doubt your citizenship.
You guys ain't know nothing Oga, we know all of these, it doesn't take much to promote tourism by the government, but do you have power ? water ? security ? see even police are harassing people and you are talking about promoting ish! Please acting as if life is better here. I have lived lived in Ghana for some time now and you don't hear of police unwarranted harassment! Like Tekno, Generator wan tear my ear abeg! |

demiladegold: By the way, I don't usually talk much online..... I am a Nigerian and as a kid my dad used to take us on tours to different tourist centers in Nigeria, I doubt if there's anyone I haven't been to except if its new.. Right now im in Kenya as a student and u can boldly say Kenya is a beautiful place with pleasant people.. Of course there are slums just like there are slums everywhere..
Those saying we should promote Nigeria.... We would be lying to ourselves if we say Nigeria has achieved anything in the tourism sector.. Kenya is not halfway as rich as Nigeria yet their currency has more value, 24/7 electricity, constant water supply, affordable standard of living and very good education sector......
I have nothing against Nigeria. I love my country with passion but I refuse to close my eyes and pretend Nigeria is where it is supposed to be... Let the Government do something about it, then we would proudly celebrate them... Those people age are the reason the government comes at broad daylight o tell us everything is well in this country. |

68816419: well, i like the fact that you showed good parts of Nairobi which only made up of 5% of the city, after going through your posts i realized that u have been scammed to believing that Nairobi is "so nice",i wont blame you rather i will push my blames to the marketing strategy of the tourist boards of Kenya which is showing people the very good parts controlled by Indians and whites while avoiding places where majority of the people leaves. Nobody was scammed and you don't expect me to live my hotel and go to slums. We all know Nairobi has slums. Maybe when you visit, tell us about the slum. Thank you. |

Pidgin2: See how a fellow so called Nigerian/Kenyan has contributed to the economy of Kenya just by posting pictures of good places in that country, yet same people will complain about our economy. You can hype another person's country but speak badly about your own, in the end it is you that will lose
If this man had picked a place in Nigeria to hype, he would have generated jobs for the folks that live there and also helped the tourism industry in that region
Many paid foreigners are on nairaland to promote their countries to gullible Nigerians don't be blind please! More than half of those on my plane where other Africans. Do you remember when Dora Akinyuli was Minister of communications ? She was promoting tourism. Please go and cry to the government. Not me. |

JohnieWalker12: Nice post @BedLam.
I want to ask.
1. What is the current inflation rate in Kenya if any.
2. Are Cats prosecuted in Kenya just like most Nigerian's do out of their beliefs?
3. How much is the Kenyans currency value to ours. one dollar is 100 Kenya shillings. I don't know the digits concerning inflation. No. I think they love cats because I was at 2 places where you have some cute fat cats and I wanted to take them home |

Pidgin2: Promoting Kenyan tourism at the expense of your own and later same people will shout "No job in Nigeria!" the truth is "No sensible people in Nigeria" madam. It's not my duty to promote our tourism when we have the government. The eyesore called MMIA makes me want to puke. I don't do mediocrity. There's someone taking money for that job and you want me to promote what ? Please stop. |

So that won't get you there and enough to stay. Most of the hotels are highly rated and expensive. You don't need a visa, just make sure you have reservation and your return ticket. Enter plane and land there. PS: don't eat dinner at hotels, better buy your food. We ate dinner at a 5 star hotel and it was billed for 100 dollar. |
