do u know what is " ima njakiri?" , most times we ask why Nigerians are one of the happiest peopke on earth despite our sufferings and bad leadership?
government will announce hike in petrol prices, many of us will find humour in it.
if u know what being happy alone does in someone's life,u will not ask me if drinking beer is A social live, Go and sleep bro. You've not heard Parks, Museums, zoo, theme parks public pools, stand up comedy shows. American Football, basket ball games. Music festivals These people don't lack social life. Forget it. You don't even have any social life, let's forget it. |

Cerberus: True bro though I'll just point out that Nairaland is not that bad coz like everything else in existence it does have its merits and demerits. Education is great though we've turned it to something else in this country. The way many Nigerians behave, especially the chest thumping and so-called educated ones always makes me wonder why they bother themselves getting educated in the first place. Here in this country, we only study to write on books and boast instead providing future and immediate solutions to our cultural, political and socioeconomic problems. And as for marriage and bearing of children, both are so highly overrated, especially the former. This is why more people keep falling out of marriage as much as they keep on marrying on Saturdays. People are pretending to be holy by forcing themselves into marital obligations coz of what ordinary people like them will say, forgetting in life that wether you follow the crowd or not you are still the one facing your music alone at the end. That's why we have secret cheaters all over the place coz we love pretending a lot at all levels of our lives as people of a nation. You are wise. |

NoChill: I don't think you have any idea of what you are saying, who told you that Nairaland is a joke? Or is it because you only visit the front page and other unproductive threads. Let me tell you Nairaland is the best online forum in Nigeria and believe it or not it is one of the greatest things to have ever happened to Nigeriansc and the youth in particular. There are so many educative, and product threads that you can visit where you can learn a lot of things ranging from skills to knowledge about business, health, technology and so on. So please before you make any unhealthy comments about something first of have a rational and detailed information about it Sir. Nairaland is a joke and will always be. It's the "best thing" that's happened to Nigeria whatever doesn't make it any less of a joke. I mean, is Nigeria not a joke? |

Admitwithschola: There are certain tasks that you can't complete without education..Otherwise Facebook and Google, not to mention the many others, won't be filled with mostly master's and PhD holders. Google has started hiring people without degrees. What are you saying? |
Nairaland General › Re: 5 Disappointments People Often Face In Life by BedLam: 12:08pm On Nov 10, 2018 |
Mediocre. Marriage, children and formal education doesn't make anyone anymore. People adopt kids and the love is there. People don't even marry anymore.
Education is way too overrated that companies are beginning to hire people without degrees. Go figure. Nairaland is a joke and will always be. |

So its not an unusual phenomenon sir and it has nothing to do with the Prince visits. It is a waste money and resources. Show of nothing. Whether be it King George or Saudi Royal king. What did he gain from the trip ? |

chigoizie7: do u know what frustration is?
do u know how it affects people?
and then, ALL of a sudden, one cute black young guy pops out from nowhere to profess undying love to u. telling u what u have never heard in years, making u feel so special, making u have that confidence back in ur life, making u come out of depression, making u realise that u are worth so much as a human. my, if u have been depressed or frustrated , and someone u never expected came along, to give u a million and one reasons to be happy and fulfilled once again, my dear u will see them as ur god.
y will ask me why depression or frustration? my dear we are so blessed in this part of the world when it comes to enjoying social lives. over there? they don't, they lock themselves up in their apartment and keep dieing slowly.
too much psychos and too much shrinks.
and its not juju . na psychology, wonder how and why they go for a particular kinda women on dating sites, come to think of it, what is a beautiful lady that is in a healthy relationship either dating or by marriage doing on a dating site? they seek love and to be loved, and when Yahoo boys come along, they fall prey easily. What social life do you have in this part of the world? To go out and drink beer or what? You clearly don't know what social life is. |

benn94: Nigeria can also be as great as China because we have all it takes. Only if we can put religion and ethnicity aside, limit the number of children per woman because our population is growing really fast and it is not easy for the government to handle. is it hard to put religion aside without proper education with more than half the population in poverty. What gives the poor person hope when they can't afford a doctor ? Education creates wealth, wealth gives confidence and good life. Thus religion will take a back seat. You barely see the rich or educated being tribalistic. Tribalism is mostly among the uneducated and poor. If we can create wealth for the masses, upgrade our education and healthcare, these issues will vanish, naturally. |
Travel › Re: Stunning Images Show The Breathtakingly Diverse Scenery Of China by BedLam: 2:02am On Nov 10, 2018 |
Goahead: It's widely known that China used more cement between 2013 and 2016 than America did in the entire 20th century - hence the concrete jungle we're seeing.
One more attribute to their success, they're irreligious. People become religious when they are poor and hopeless without any form of insurance. You are more likely to buy the idea of a pastor healing you if your don't have hospitals, good surgeons or emergency services. As they developed, religion started fading because people got more educated and richer. |

EMMAACHILE: For those with analog or job seeking skills, Nigeria might be best for you. If you are IT inclined, there is no way Nigeria will be better than the USA. Its virtually impossible especially those who need large business credits to run enterprises or businesses offline or online.
I have a friend who is staying in Sweden and prays to be in the US every time because of his lack of access to business credit cash to explode his Amazon US business. With a good credit score of 700+, some residents get as much as $250k-$300k to run their businesses. Countries who come close to US are Australians business owners Yes. US is built for entrepreneurs. From all I can tell, the OP is not competitive. You are a banker in a 3rd world, teaches English and do marketing and sales. You haven't sold anything that will make our eyes pop out. Chill bro, you aren't competitive and that will decrease your chances of going to a better country. I know you will think I'm harsh but Germany, and other Western countries are in shortage of high skilled jobs, for instance, data scientists. Anyone is more likely to employ a South African as an English teacher compared to a Nigerian. That's because they feel their education is better than ours and that's true. Now you have to up your game, go learn something that will cut you an edge. This might take years and energy but 3 years from now, you will have better chance of getting a good job in any country that you'd want. Think Data science , digital marketing since you said you are a sales person. The world is so open, you can be anything you want to be. If you put your time and effort in it. I wish you well. |

Before I call Wike a mumu. What is the importance of Prince Charles's visit? It's not as if his visit increased the income per capita of Abuja. Rather revenue was depleted in hosting him.
Why does Wike keep making a fool of himself and crying foul at every opportunity he gets.
I think he is just sad he didn't get an opportunity to loot Rivers States treasury under the guise of hosting Prince Charles. lol. The same way Buhari tell UN abi WHO say make them look only Northern Nigeria na. |

Business › Re: HSBC And UBS Close Offices In Nigeria by BedLam: 12:10pm On Nov 03, 2018 |
Focusmind: Do you think you must have a physical presence to conduct business in any country? The world have gone global. There are many multinational companies in Nigeria that you don't hear about.
Go to FIRS and see names with their tax returns. They have people that represents their interest in Nigeria, negotiate and close out deals on their behalf. Most of the people they have here, rent offices in high brow Ikoyi and VI without pasting the name of the company any where.
You will just see on 5 or 6 people working for the multinational, closing out deals on their behalf and filing tax returns.
Oil companies comes to mind. A lot of unknown companies are operating in Nigerian oil and gas without being known to the public but know only to the authorities and regulators. They have offices in closed streets in lekki and VI without sign post.
It is only when you enter the compound that you see assorted jeeps and four wheel drives. That will tell you how far.
So, bro companies exist without having physical presence, especially the investment banks - Note that we have Deutchebank, Goldman Sachs, RMB and Barclays bank today in Nigeria but no physical office. They only pay tax based on the proportion of profit made only in Nigeria. Even most of them have offices but they are not into retail banking and won't put on any sign. These people provide data for investors etc. If a German wants to invest in Nigeria, he most likely to use Deutchebank to channel his funds. |
Business › Re: HSBC And UBS Close Offices In Nigeria by BedLam: 12:07pm On Nov 03, 2018 |
SEGLIZ: .... never heard of such ghost bank in this country before now (pardon my ignorance). 2 out of the facilities used in siphoning our soft currency to boost their system and make their currency harder, has just closed shop blaming Mr President for tightening the economy against them. the report has blame Mr President, let wait and the first person to blame APC and Buhari for this. Get sense bro. If a foreigner wants to invest in this country, what bank do you think they use? There's a reason they are called investment banks. It's funny how everything about the woes of the economy is blamed on foreign entities. If these banks are closing, then investment will also shrink. These banks also provide data for investors. SMH at your buffonery |

any excuse is bs.
it's the power of numbers, power of branding and power of leverage.
and it's true, whatsapp is so poorly designed, I used to pull my hair out.
now, I just sigh and move on. I think it has to do with the fact that our tech prowess is really shabby and we aren't sophisticated, mostly luddites, whatsapp somehow came preinstalled with the first set of cheap android phones like Techno, we stuck to it and we think that is the best. |
