@ OAM4J you are a Star! Thanx a lot! |
@ OAM4J please send me the police report form, my email is expressionse@yahoo.com I have been looking for this info for ages until today i saw u have helped a lot. Pls and thanx and God bless. |
@dell_net thank u for the information. I understand for Canada the Police Certificate has to be done in Central Criminal Registry Force C.I.D. Annex Alagbon Close Ikoyi Lagos, Nigeria according to this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/africa/nigeria.asp However, if I get it well, the certificate will not be issued to me but to the Canadian Embassy directly. This is confusing as one has to send the Police certificate with the application of permanent residence! |
Hello 9landers! Canada and some countries ask for Police certificate, can anybody who has obtained UK or Naija Police Certificate please tell me what it contains inside? I mean what they write on ani individual who ask for it and if they will allow you to see the content! I am curious before I fill the Canadian visa application forms and be prepared! Thanks for your help in this matter! Bedos |
For UK the requirements for uniting spouses are well known. But for Canada it's kind of not clear. This lady has a permanent residence to Canada and intends to send in the application for her African based boyfriend to join her there for marriage and reside together in Canada. Here in UK one must get a "visit for marriage" or "visit for civil partnership" visa for the purpose of marriage which normally last for one year and can be extended towards indefinite leave to remain. How is it done in Canada? |
@somebody We are waiting for more from you as we also wait for the website. Will be glad if you give info concerning graduates jobs for Food Scientist. I am now completing a Master in Food Production Management from Nottingham Un Thanks |
Family members, When and how do you think, is an appropriate way to ask a girl out you just met online (which could be facebook, or hi5)? The story is simple, I was introduced to a girl by my cousin, who is a girl, both staying in the USA. This girl is beautiful and but very reserved and I really love her. It is now three weeks we started exchanging short mails through facebook, saying hi, how is the weather there and the likes. The question then comes, when is the right time to ask the girl out? Don't you think it's too early if I should say it now, when we have not taken enough time to know ourselves? It's true my cousin introduced me to her, but my cousin doesn't have any other role to play except me. Another problem is distance, her being there in USA and me here. Though, personally I don't mind the distance, I can cope with it because she fulfils most of the qualities I need in a lady. What should I do not to loose this girl to another guy who could just come from nowwhere?? I wait to hear from you. Thanx |
I would rather stay here, than go back to Naija now. There is more hope here than down there. Please come to the UK if you know you can work hard and honestly. |
Just take a look at this site and see what they are promising. http://www.goldbergpartners.com Need your input if any has tried it or intends to. |
Je suis tres content de savoir que il ya beaucoup de Nigerians qui aiment parler et ecrir Francais. C'est bon vraiement. A bientot. |
In my opinion, getting a credit card is not a bad thing in itself. The problem lies with how it is used. For students wishing to stay back and looking at settlement in the uk, i think having a credit card to their name is a step forward in building a credit history. But like i said, it's the misuse of the card that is really a problem. With a strong sense of self discipline, i think an individual should take one and never go above the limit, ideally maybe make very little and insignificant purchases (about 20 to 40 quid) on the card in a month at most and pay back in time. Best to have such a properly used credit card for those critical days when it would desperately be needed than no credit at all. On the other hand, for students not wishing to stay back after their studies, it might not be a good idea. Whichever way, spending on your card should be done in moderation and not give into the false sense of financial security. @Alphabeta: Pls can clarify the above? Does it mean if you intend to stay in the UK after your studies the possession of a CC will strenghten your application? @All Is it adviceable to enter the contract phone as student in the UK now. If so is there any prefered or suitable/cheapest, type of contract phone? |
Thank you guys for your insights. The reason I asked such a question is that someone in one of the Schengen countries invited me to come over to where s/he is since I have UK (EU) visa I can equally go to any Schengen (Of course EU) countries without any other visa for a short period of stay. Say one or two weeks. I wonder how come Ireland is what cause much discussion!!! |
Imagine your girlfriend is a stammerer and and because of the nature of your occupation you have to communicate often using phone. How will you do it so that your relationship will not grow fonder, bearing in mind the cost of credit nowadays? |
It depends. I am a living proof of that. My first girl friend made a move and she succeeded. Though now we are not together but it came to pass. |
Nairalanders, How possible is it with a UK visa to visit other EU countries? As we all know with a Schengen Visa, the holder is entitled to visit any other Schengen countries. Is UK visa also the same thing as EU visa? Or UK visa is only country specific? Please I need your views. Thank you. |
Yes you can get a flight straight to Manchester, but the common ones pass through London first and then to Manchester at the same price. In fact, I will be leaving today for Manchester Airport through the same method. I will board BA and I bought the e-ticket of 96,540 Naira. Though this is a reduced price because we are regular customers of the agent. So the price will depend on the agent u are going to use. |
@ALL I still think deeply on this issue of staying off-campus or not in Nottingham, Sutton Bunington Campus. Considering the fact that my finance is not that good. Therefore, I am tempted to stay off-campus but, |
@funkybaby God sees all the good things you are doing to make the life of your bothers and sisters worthy a living. I am short of words on how to thank you enough for your kindness, concern, encouragement and love. May God reward you in His riches in Glory. You are highly blessed. Those points are noted. @D10 Don't worry, we are all brothers here, aren't we? What you needed you have gotten it and that's what matters. If not that she could have used other means to reach me but she chose to make it public for your benefit too. Let's keep on thanking God for having our sister Funkbaby to bless all of us. So congats once again. |
Little did I know when I applied to Nottingham univ. that I would be offered an admission talkless of being granted a scholarship for an MSc program. To cut a long story short, I was given 75% of tuition and when I discussed the matter with my school here in Nigeria, one of the private schools in Nigeria, they agreed to sponsor the remaining 25%. Now that I have gotten a student visa, the big proble is How will raise the money to cover my living expenses such as accommondation, food etc which the school estimates to be about 700 pounds per month? I dont want to lose this opportunity, that is why, I solicite for constructive advice on how I can survive over there by getting a job while studying to help me defray this expenses. Some of my concerns are: - Does anyone in the house know more about Univesrity of Nottingham or lives around Boningtnon in Nottinghmashire? I intend to be there first or second week of September for my masters program. I intend to stay off-campus because the accommodation fee for the hostel is kind of expensive. - I also want to know the types of jobs available. Can it be possible to get a job enough to pay one's accommodation, travel and upkeep. Which the school estimated to be around 700 pounds per month? Just by working 20 hours a week? I dont mind to train and work as an health care assistant. Thank you and God bless. If need be kindly email me at excobedo@myway.com |
@D10 I am happy for u. Na me remain for this waiting. Mine is still being processed as of yesterday when I received a mail from the lagos DBHC. It's now 28 working days. I believe my story will also be as yours. It's a matter of time and we will all meet there. Congrats once again. |
Hello Family members. I dont know if this topic have been treated before on this forum. If not, please I want us to really discus on the above named issues. Many people outside there need to know what to do when they don't know what to do. Should a Christian marry a Christian (e.g a Catholic versus Catholic or a Catholic versus Deeper Life, etc) I need your views. |
Please how do you track the application. I have gone the www.ukvac-ng.com but there is no link on how to track it. Please help. Thanx |
@Nkenwanyi Congrats for your breakthrough. @D10 Pls dont get worried, you will surely get it. Every Nairalander is praying for you. Me too am still waiting it's now 26 working days I applied here in IB but no reply yet. I am so anxious too. I know it's all for good. Happy waiting. |
@Vicjustice What I ment by not less than 27,000 is the applicants for this year so far while the 8,000 was the issued visas last 1 or 2 years. Hope u understand? |
Nothing wrong at all. Just pray for that individual. He doesn't know what he/she is doing. |
@D10 and Nkenwanyi It's good that we all are going to get the visa. Me too I submitted on July 12, and after 16 working days I called the office and I was told my application is still with BDHC in Lag. It's true if there are interested in ur application, they will exceed the 15 working days. Hope u also did read the last week Guardian News paper on the number of student applicants to UK this year. Can u imagine not less than 27,000 applied for student visa contrary to previous years of about 8,000 or less!!. Which means you have every reason to thank God for making u one of few selected for this priviledge. Congrats guys. Waiting to hear ur testimonies. God bless u always. |
I had a personal encounter with the guard at the UK VAC in Ibadan when I went to submit my apllication. I got to the get by 10am and the security man who was at the gate insisted that I should pay money befor I can be allowed in saying that I was late and that the number to be attended to has been completed. So for him to assist me or go and beg for me I must pay if not I have to come the next day. Of course this is not true. To cut the story short I was allowed in after paying. when I got in I noticed how dupe I was. So beware of them insist not to pay any money. It's a lie the submission time is from 8 - 3 pm. Whenevr u come in within that time you have right to be attended to. |
Hello house members Please I need your candid advice on my situation, where by I have to use three sponsors in order to meet up with my UK visa requirements. I have a 75% scholarship towards tuition from a UK university for a Master degree, plus Living expenses scholarship from a Nigerian University where I work and the remaining 25% of my tuition my uncle based in US has to bear it. Is there anything wrong if I present the 3 different letters of scholarships from three sponsors^ I was told by a friend that, it is adviceable to use one sponsor where possible because this shows that yu are financially capable. Please I need your words of wisdom. Thank you and God bless. |
My email is excobedo@myway.com Thanx |
