yhh, we nid to realize that there is a difference btw tithe and giving.
I'm not a pastor, but I know you give tithe to God via the church, while you give alms to the poor. Tithe(10% of your income) belong to God not you, so you can't give out what belongs to someone else.

You giving a beggar such amount of money is commendable, but you can't call it tithe as tithes should be paid in church.

i sincerely respect the way u made your point but have you ever asked yourself, if truly tithing is as important as most men of gawd make it seem, how come our Lord Jesus and His immediate disciples (Paul included) never mentioned it at all but they definitely did mention giving to the poor, most m-o-g are always quick to quote Malachi which was written when we were under the law not under Grace.

I can quote several scriptures for you here which mandates us to give to the poor. Go and read my original post on page 2 and stop quoting me half-baked. I am fully in support of giving to the poor and I give to the poor very very liberally. I won't blow my trumpet here.

But I do not take the portion which belongs to God (my 10%) to give to the poor. The poor have their portion in my earnings but not from the 10% that belongs to God (tithe).

I'm getting confused about tithe day by day. I was told that particular scripture is referring to priests/pastors. I was told they are only entitle to 10% of the titles of the church,90% are meant for the welfare of the neeey and the church.
