Nobody condemned Rochas about shoprite stuff. People were trying to use building & commissioning of shoprite as a yardstick to measure Rochas's achievement against Obiano's which we told them if that's the case, then Rochas is a learner where Obiano is because he(Obiano) is building 3 of them at a go. Politics › Re: ICC Prosecutor Visits Nigeria - Indicates Interest To Commence Investigation by BeeBeeOoh(m): 10:01am On Apr 14, 2016
castrogee:
People don't even understand how the ICC works. It is a court that prosecutes crimes that fall within its jurisdiction, crimes such as: Rape, murder, massacre, destruction of a civilian society by any means, etc. They have professional judges. The prosecutor's team will first investigate the case submitted by the plaintiff to ascertain if the case falls within the court's jurisdiction and also to ascertain if the case should go on owing to the fact that some cases may be minor or trivial, like an unintentional killing of a civilian society. For example, if the police in trying to quell a riot accidentally kills people, though the ICC has the jurisdiction over such matter but they may not go on to prosecute the case, because such is the tragedy of our every day lives and in this case ICC will only issue a directive to the relevant organ or authority responsible to be more reasonable in their actions next time to avoid such human casualties.

All these go down during the ICC preliminary investigation, the preliminary investigation is conducted to ascertain if the case can go on to the next level which is now the full investigation of the various evidences rallied by the plaintiff against the defendant, needless to say that at this moment the ICC is almost certain that the case will go on, i.e the prosecutor is almost certain that he is ready to prosecute.

Unfortunately, this is where Nigeria is right now. The coming of the ICC prosecutor, the chief prosecutor for that matter is to signal to the Nigerian authority that the result of there preliminary investigation indicts them (Nigeria), and they will go into full investigation and also to intimate the Nigerian government to be ready for the investigation because certain govt officials will need to be examined. Now, IPOB is claiming to be in possession of forensic evidence against the Nigerian army i.e. evidence that shows that the bullets used against arm-less protesters indeed came from the Nigerian military (and this is scary), coupled with video evidence. This is the reason why the army is sweating to brand IPOB a terror group. But the truth is that you don't just label a group terrorists without strong evidence of their ties to destruction and untamed violence and evidence to show that they have carried out such crimes like ISIS is doing now. For Goodness sake the Nigerian govt should know that they are appearing before a panel of judges, learned and experienced judges for that matter that understand the terrain and they want to present these baseless charges before them?

Predictably, some of us saw this thing coming, and raised alarm, but Buhair being a dullard thought everything about power is fiat. he ordered his COAS to use hyper force on unarmed protesters, because he is buhari, well I wish him good luck. Now IPOB has said they will resume their protests once they get their TV station running, the implication is that this time they could hold the protests for the time they want without harassment because the world is now paying attention. I believe this shouldn't have gotten to this level had Buhari not been reckless with his decision. Over 8 cases have been established against Nigeria in the ICC, I told a friend of mine that the next battle ground in the world is Nigeria. Its unfortunate that it is only in Africa that you see unarmed protesters been shot with such reckless abandon, and yet Africa will claim to be unfairly treated by the west.
what more can I say?? May u never run outta ideas & may God bless thy household exceedingly

Romance › Her Failed Lavish Wedding Left Me Broke.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:00pm On Apr 13, 2016
Dear Bunmi,

About three years ago, I used most of my savings to pay for my daughter’s marriage. She’s the only girl though we have two other male children. Shortly after she got married, I lost a lot of money through the crash of the stock market. I’m trying to find my feet financially, though it’s not been easy. My wife has a bit of an income and that helps. You can then imagine how I felt when my daughter announced recently that the marriage was over. I couldn’t believe it. Neither could my wife. Understandably, she should leave a marriage she’s unhappy in, but I’m really angry that I’m left almost destitute, thanks to a wedding that means nothing now.

She doesn’t know how much I spent on the wedding and how much money I have lost, but sometimes I feel like telling her, so she’s aware. Thank goodness she has a son to show for the charade, but why let us spend that much money? Taiye, by e-mail.

Dear Taiye,

Maybe you shouldn’t have decided to spare no expense at your daughter’s wedding if it was going to cost you such despair, and so much finance. It was down to you and not your daughter’s fault. Her happiness had to come first. She needs all the support she can get especially from her parents.

Carry on struggling with your finances whilst you give her all the support she needs. She’s probably going through hell and laying the guilt of an expensive wedding on her will make it worse. It was your choice to splash out! Money is important, of course, but people should mean more.

Politics › Fuel Scarcity: NNPC Apologises, Promised To Release 1500 Trucks Daily.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 7:45pm On Apr 13, 2016
Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Wednesday, apologised for the lingering fuel scarcity in the country. Apapa road blocked by Tankers The agency however, assured that the problem had been resolved with adequate supply of Premium Motor Spirit through import and the local refineries.

Spokesman for NNPC, Garba Deen Mohammed, and the Group Executive Directors, Upstream, Mr Bello Rabiu, Downstream, Henry Obih and Refineries, Anibor Kragha, told state House Correspondents that five vessels had berthed in the ports discharging products all over the country.

According to Bello, the ships are in Lagos, Port Harcourt and Warri ports to complement importation from private dealers all together discharging at least 120 million litres of products. Bello said that in moving the products up to the hinterlands, the NNPC had the only option of trucking as most of the pipelines were not working. He said NNPC was in a position to take PMS from the Atlas cove jetty up to Ibadan while the rest of the distribution was being done through the depots in the Lagos area.

“We are almost on 100 per cent on trucking to the hinterland; that is the only way we can get it to the whole market but the plan is that going forward from today we want to ensure that we give more than we require in the whole country.

“The actual requirement of the country is just 1,300 trucks but our plan is to make at least 1,500 trucks available every day until all the problems are solved. “We want to make sure that we saturate the market in a very short time and presently, Lagos is cleared, Abuja is getting better and other places will follow’’, he said.

Bello added that NNPC pushed 160 trucks into the cities across the country on Tuesday. “We are now in a position to say that each state’s demand has been captured; we know the need and we are trying to ensure that all the states are supplied’’, he added.

He said that henceforth, the organisation was ready to announce the daily supply of PMS to the states and that the governors had expressed readiness to put task forces in place to ensure that the products were delivered to the consumers.

He said NNPC was ready to ensure there was no repeat of the scarcity. “On behalf of the management of the NNPC, we are sorry for what has happened and we are working very hard to ensure that this thing will not happen again.

“Going forward, we are ensuring that we don’t have this again and we are doing everything possible to have in-country storage, strategic storage that will not allow us to go into this situation. “Once our depots inside the country are actually wet, it will not take anybody more than four hours to take the products from our depots to his station.’’

Bello said that once the pipelines were revived, products would move further into other parts of the country. “We are doing three things at the same time: ensuring sustainable imports, making sure that refineries work and the pipelines also work.

“That will reduce all these incidences and once we achieve that stability, queues in Nigeria will be a thing of the past’’, he said. He also urged Nigerians to reduce the tension in the country by not wasting time in the filling stations, adding that all the stations in FCT as at Wednesday had been supplied with fuel.

“Not a single station in Abuja is dry and we will sustain this to ensure that no station is left unattended not only in Abuja but also the states around Abuja’’, Bello added. He said the corporation was making sure that trucking was efficient having solved the supply problems.

Politics › Senate Begins Legislation On PIB, Probe NNPC's Joint Venture Cash Calls.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 4:48pm On Apr 13, 2016
By Henry Umoru & Joseph Erunke

ABUJA-THE Senate has begun the process of passing into law, the long awaited Petroleum Industry Bill, PIB as it Wednesday passed the first reading at the floor of the upper chambers.

The controversial bill which is called the Petroleum Industry and Governance Bill (PIGB), seeks to give the country’s oil and gas industry, a comprehensive legal framework, just as it would also provide the basis for the unbundling of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into five independent commercial entities. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives had harmonized the bill before Wednesday’s action by the Senate which makes it the third time it would pass first reading in the Senate.

Both the Senate and House of Representatives had recently harmonised a new draft of PIB and renamed it PIGB following a prolonged silence by the presidency on the bill as well as continued agitation for its passage by the citizenry.

Speaking yesterday Senate President Bukola Saraki who noted that the legislature adopted the Petroleum Industry Bill as one of its legislative agenda, said that the 8th Senate under his watch would pass the bill as that would help stimulate the nation’s economy. Meanwhile, the Senate today asked its Joint Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream and Downstream), Finance and Appropriation to immediately commence the investigation of joint venture cash calls by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The Senate also expressed concern over an allegation that the NNPC had been violating rules governing its joint venture cash call responsibility and consequently asked its committee to investigate the allegation.

The Senate then asked the committee to come up with sanctions for any known violation of appropriation acts in the oil and gas sector. Senate resolutions were sequel to a motion by Senator Bassey Akpan, PDP, Akwa Ibom North-east). Akpan in the motion alleged persistent constraints by NNPC to meet its cash call obligations, a situation he said had worsened the country’s crude oil production output and other activities in the oil and gas sector.

Senator Akpan who put the current outstanding cash call obligations in the oil and gas sector at $6 billion, stressed that cash calls ought to be treated as first line items by NNPC prior to its remittance of available balance in its collectible revenues from crude sales to the federation account.

Politics › Channels TV Reporter Regains Freedom.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 4:36pm On Apr 13, 2016
By Chidi Nkwopara, OWERRI.

The Imo State correspondent of Channels Television, Mr. Tope Kutiyi, who was kidnapped in the early hours of last Monday, was yesterday released unharmed by his captors.

Vanguard gathered that soon after the hoodlums made the initial contact with their captor’s relations and made a N15 million demand, the security agencies technically located their location and quickly moved into action. Confirming this development to Vanguard in a telephone interview, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said that Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, personally led to operation for the journalist’s rescue. “The CP mobilized and personally commanded a 100-man squad for the rescue operation. The operation took them into the huge forest at Ohoba in Ohaji/Egbema local government area of the state”, the PPRO recounted.

Continuing, the PPRO said as the police moved closer to the hoodlums, they moved their captor further into the forest, adding that when it was clear that they had lost out in their damnable crusade, they released the journalist via another end of the forest unhurt.

Vanguard gathered that apart from kidnapping Kutiyi, the hoodlums numbering about seven, also removed and shared the Correspondent’s work implements, including but not limited to his laptop and telephone handset. Meanwhile, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chief Acho Ihim, and Governor Rochas Okorocha have reacted to Kutiyi’s release.

The duo commended the security agencies for their spirited effort in effecting the release of the Channels Television reporter. “I must commend the security agencies for acting swiftly and decisively, soon after the reporter’s kidnap became public knowledge.

Honestly, I am happy about the outcome of their swift operation”, Ihim said. In his own reaction, Governor Okorocha said that his administration would sustain the battle against crime and criminals in the state.

“The state government would sustain the war against kidnapping a d other heinous crimes in ten state, to ensure that the peace and security Imo people have been enjoying under my administration would not be tampered with”, the Governor said.

Politics › Shagari And Alex Ekwueme's Salaries 36years Ago.. by BeeBeeOoh(op): 4:25pm On Apr 13, 2016
President of Nigeria's Second Republic (1979-1983) Shehu Shagari's annual salary was N30,000.00, and Vice-Presidant Alex Ekwueme-N24,000.

This was in 1980. 36 years after, the president and VP earn more than 10000 times that amount. See below

The president takes home N14, 058, 820.00 (allowances included), while VP is paid N12, 126,290.00 annually. Quite a long way from the 30k per annum salary, huh?
