Okay, my problem is that I am 14 weeks preg now and looking out for hospital to register with. My workplace is very close to Lagos Island Maternity but I heard that hubby needs to donate blood before i can register for antenatal and hubby is not in Lagos.

Please can you suggest close-by private hospital where hubby won't need to donate blood? and the procedures please.

NB.
1. My mondays - fridays is always at work...but I can go to see doc during breaktime or weekends which is why I need a close-by hospital.
2. Might eventually leave Lagos but I need to undergo the so-called pregnancy screening and test...which is mainly why i need to register with a hospital now. cool

I would have love to respond but I had to pass because I live and work on the mainland so I don't really know that side wella.

I registered in a general hospital too but I couldn't donate blood because hubby is far away. I paid 6k for it ( back door things) so if you are still interested in registering with Island Maternity, they take back door money too. I was actually there and I was told it's 5k before I transferred to MCC Gbaja because it's closer to where I stay.

You can't use break time to attend ANC in general hospitals. They take almost the whole day. Maybe you should just look for a private clinic.

Island mothers, come and attend to her. Biko!

I use Horlicks chocolate (with brown cover) with Cow &Gate (for some time) then Nido milk most of the time till now.

Back to your Milo matter, I don't know if anyone has replied you. But I suggest you get Horlicks or Complan instead of Milo and that should be after baby is 1 year. I heard Milo makes it difficult for them to pass faeces.

Then for weaning, I took my boy to my mum When he was 1yr 1Month. It made the weaning process so easy for me. Cos he sucks at night and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to bear his cries.

Then I squeezed out the milk each time my brea.sts were so heavy. And I rubbed ori (Shea butter) mixed with palm kernel oil on them. Within three days, I had nearly stopped lactating.

I never thought of horlicks and complan o. Our last born used it then. I will go and read about Complan. Sis, am I to buy the two?
I think horlicks is like milo while Complan is like milk? Am I right? Can't really remember anymore.

Where can I get palm kernel oil? Supermarkets?
How long did it take your baby to adjust to no breastt life style?

@tatacherie, sorry abt d heartburn. Stay away from things dat trigger it. Eat a lil at a tym and nt so late at nyt. D glass of milk sm1 suggested works too.
@beedam For weaning ur lo, try tapering it off. Reduce frequency of b.feeding during d day, then gradually stop daytym feeding. Wt tym , u stop nyt feeding. I gave cereals at nyt wen I was weaning and also tried to delay his last meal to just b4 he slept.Wt tym, he stopped waking at nyt.

Kaka is the short dark elderly man with some grey hair on his head. A very quiet man who will fight to the last to ensure you are not operated on. If Kaka tells you you are gonna do CS, then he has tried all he can.
During our time, people come from different ANC days to complain on the report their doctors gave them to him. He is a consultant and I think he is the most senior of them all. He attends to only/mostly 4-10 week and 33weeks and above.

I heard Olabode is a surgeon. he sabi preach his outside hospital no be small. His own line is always, you have a big baby. I was shocked when he told me I have a big baby @39wks and I gave birth to 2.4 baby.

I'm delivering the baby tonight" After going through placenta previa with four bleeds, fibroid, pre term labour at 24 weeks, several bouts of malaria, high BP and almost 5 months on bed rest, I was somewhat scared but relieved.
Alhamdullilah! She's a small baby at 2.2kg but Alhamdullilah.
I wish all the other mamas safe delivery.
She just came out of ICU today.

I will advise you hold on sis. I took just a spoonful at 41weeks even though I won't advise anyone to use it because the labour came suddenly with full force and it happened almost immediately I took it.

I couldn't control myself that I started pushing when the whole hospital workers and my people were called in to beg me to stop pushing. Did you read my BS? I gave birth in the **labour ward** instead of labour room. Why? Because I couldn't control myself, I was pushing seriously at 4cm. The whole floor was filled with blood.

It was too much that the doctors asked if i used something. **i didn't confess**

Lastly,after I ve given birth, the doctor advised me to opt for CS next time if I know I won't listen to simple instructions because I could have tore my womb assuming my baby is big** he weighed 2.4**.

I was lucky everyone concentrated on me because I was the only one in the labour ward that night at MCC Gbaja ( imagine, for general hospital even though like 10 people came the same time after I ve given birth) if not something else could have happened.

I'm not saying all the above to scare you, but to advise you to hold on. You are almost there.
