CelebritiesRe: Ne-yo's Father Is From South East Nigeria? (Middle name: Chimire) by beeke(op): 8:49pm On Jun 18, 2011
ose_o:
the name Chimere is NOT igbo, i know at least 4 people bearing the name and none of them has any nigerian blood, its pronounced Sha-mear not Chi-me-re as you would like to think. so please lets stop spreading rumors.
You should at least ask me the meaning of Chimere in Igbo before you jump to conclusion, anyway in case you still interested Chimere in Igbo is Gods deed.

sasi_malia:
Am I the one who can't read or what? I certainly don't have a problem with a nation/ethnic group claiming as its own someone who has accomplished great things, but since posters responding are saying that Ne-Yo is Igbo, should the chinese people say that he is chinese too? At least that part of his heritage was clearly stated,  undecided
His father is IGBO and the last time i checked if a Yoruba man fathered a child with an Hausa  woman the child is considered a Yoruba

footreja:
@beeke, aint fighting you. I am very sure he has no nigerian heritage. He had debunked it before, officially. So i dont know where you got your own info. When asked at the tail-end, he denied:
http://concreteloop.com/interviews-neyo
According to Ne-yo's profile his father a Nigeria from the SE separated with his mother when he was still little, read this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ne-Yo

Mr, Cork:
but why do IBO people like to claim everythings?  soooner or later, they will Jesus waz born in Enugu angry
Did you just said claim? no dude we aint claiming it is the fact and for your info my searchlight is firmly on Naomi Campbell very soon you will be hearing from me grin grin grin

Siena:
From my understanding, and from previous interviews Neyo's given, he has no links to Nigeria at all. A traditional name's not proof of ones racial identity. There are people with Spanish names, who have no link to Spain, I myself have an Italian first name, but I've no links to Italy, neither did my parents.

What is clear however, is Neyo's denial of having an Igbo father. People give their children names for different reasons, and not always due to heritage.
The reason for this was because his mother raised him alone after she separated from her husband, Ne-yo is yet to forgive his father for shying away from his fatherly responsibility
CelebritiesRe: Ne-yo's Father Is From South East Nigeria? (Middle name: Chimire) by beeke(op): 7:14pm On Jun 16, 2011
footreja:
@ OP, na wa for you o. what is your source of that statement from Neyo. Dont fool yourself.
Do you have issues with me or Ne-Yo, or is it because he is not from your tribe? grin grin grin
so every topic in NL most have a source before you Thomas believe it, the above was an interview he granted on tv. so why are you fighting man.

Would not surprise me at all.
All those peeps that come looking for their fathers in Africa after so many years are usually from the Eastern or Western parts of Nigeria.

Most AA children without fathers in the US are from Igbo or Yoruba origins.
You don't see that from Northern or Southern Nigeria as much, where men just phock and impregnate women all over the diaspora withour claiming their ECOMOG soldiers.

Awon Tu Face Idiabia wa!
Awon Femi Kuti wa!

cheesy

Mu he he he he he

. . .And so am I. BY NATURALIZATION. kiss

Will the true African American please stand up! grin
So you mean the Igbos dont have self control or wot? becos to my understanding it show the Igbos can travel far and wide and you know the Igbos are republicans in nature so it is always easy for their host to welcome them and commingle with them and lastly an average Igbo man is intelligent and smart
CelebritiesRe: Ne-yo's Father Is From South East Nigeria? (Middle name: Chimire) by beeke(op): 5:58pm On Jun 14, 2011
Now i believe the saying that anywhere you go and fail to see an Igbo man dont spend the night there. Ne-Yo an Igbo man doing the Igbo nation proud.

Remember One among the six finalist on "THE REAL HOUSE WIFE ATLANTA" has an Igbo father

And at one point in time Naomi Campbell was rumored to have a Nigeria father also from the South East
CelebritiesNe-yo's Father Is From South East Nigeria? (Middle name: Chimire) by beeke(op): 5:46pm On Jun 14, 2011
My names are Shaffer Chimere Smith, better known by my stage name Ne-Yo am an American pop and R&B singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor i was born in Camden, Arkansas, and baptized as Shaffer Chimere Smith. "Chimere" is a name originating from the Igbo language in Nigeria meaning "God's Deed". my father is African American, and my mother is of mixed African American and Chinese.
--Ne-Yo

In 2005, Ne-Yo's girlfriend at the time gave birth to a boy, naming him Chimere after Ne-Yo's middle name. Though Ne-Yo believed he was the father, he later discovered the child was not his. He is now in litigation with the child's mother

Take for instance the last election that imposed Ya'adua as our president did the south took to arms and start killing northern in d south or destroy mosques even wen Ya'adua himself acknowledges that d election which brought him to office were fraudulent

Now the international observers with their reactions have scored this election more than 85% free and fare but still our neighbors in d north can not accept it cos the winner is a Christian from the south.

Sometimes i use to ask myself why the UN dont seems to be interested in calling a spade a spade and allow Nigeria to emulate Sudan, or why it is that our rulers seems to quiver wen some groups ask for a SNC to be convene to allow Nigerians air their view on how they want to be governed

if Nigeria and it partners have tried all necessary means to bring peace to Nigerians and is not working why not try d most simply one of them all, let d north go, d middle belt go, d SW go, d SS go and SE go is as simply as abcd

I think they would have voted for them just as they voted for gej now (amid exchanges of ghana-must-go this time around). Maybe not now that the religious polarity is much more pronounced. Remember, the president is the one they are voting for not the vp. yet gej got more than the required 25% in most of the north
You see my good friend even as of then 1992 election d north would have opposed in d strongest terms the candidature of a two Christian to rule our nation even right from d SDP primaries they will make sure they dont emerge as d flag bearer.

wen you talk about nepotism, tribalism and religious fanaticism the northern Nigeria are second to none. and that is the fact

Just out of curiousity, when will Nigerians start voting purely on basis of merits/performance as opposed to tribal/ethnic/religious grounds. I'm a pure yoruba man and I certainly wasn't looking to get my pound of flesh for JUNE 12 (that was about 18yrs ago, I'm determined not to live perpetually in the past). Similarly, I wasn't looking for power shift to the south and I certainly didn't vote on religion basis. All I want is to solve 95% of Nigeria's problem (CORRUPTION) and the perennial killings in the North (JOS inclusive) by voting the candidate that in my opinion has the capacity to deliver these two-point agenda.

N.B: To all those that bliv the north just want their son in power. While this might be true to some extent, can anyone tell me the rational behind the northerners voting GEJ ahead of their son Atiku during the primaries (Remember they also voted Abiola ahead of Tofa in 1993). It appears from my poor knowledge of history that we the southerners are the actual tribalistic ones. We have never voted for a northerner ahead of our son. We'll rather rig to make sure our son wins the polls.
Abiola election was proclaimed to be free and fare but my question to you is: if Abiola were to be a Christian and his deputy a Christian do you think d north could have voted for them?
but regardless of the facts that the two were muslims the majority Christian south turned out en mass to vote for them, so tell me who among the sides that are filled with tribalism and religious bigots

I complained to the officials, but going by their response/attitude and knowing I'm not voting for "their son" (no secrecy in my polling station) and the potential implication to my safety, I decided to just cast the my vote and left in one piece. I know I didn't take the best action, but I left with my life.
WILL YOU SHUT UP YOUR MOUTH, SO YOU LEFT WITH YOUR LIFE INTACT AND YOU EXPECT A CHANGE ARE YOU NOT AWARE THAT CHANGES DONT COME CHEAP, COS IF YOU BELIEVE IN CHANGE YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO LAY DOWN YOUR LIFE FOR IT IF YOU CLAIM TO LOVE NIGERIA THEN BE READY AT ALL TIME TO PUT YOUR LIFE FORWARD BEFORE NIGERIA.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE NORTHERN ELITE IN NIGERIA IS THAT THEY KEEP LIVING IN THE PAST NOT KNOWING THAT THE WORLD IS STEADILY SHIFTING AND THAT THEY MUST SHIFT WITH THE WORLD OR RISK BEEN LEFT BEHIND WITHOUT ANY SYMPATHY, GONE ARE THE DAYS WEN THE NORTH USE TO TAKE THE SOUTHERNS FOR A JOLLY RIDE

I REMEMBER WOT ATIKU SAID DURING HIS CAMPAIGN  VISIT TO RIVER STATE AND THERE AND THEN I SAW HOW PRIDE AND IGNORANT HAS EATEN DEEP INTO THE PSYCHE OF THE SO CALLED BORN TO RULE NORTHERN OLIGARCHY, I ALSO REMEMBERED WOT BUHARI HIMSELF SAID IN ONE OF HIS CAMPAIGN TRIP TO KANO HIS COMMENT LEFT SO MANY QUESTIONS UNANSWERED.

I HAVE MY FEARS FOR NIGERIA BEFORE BUT NOT ANYMORE BECAUSE SOME WHO WERE LIVING IN THE DREAMLAND STATEMENT THAT SAYS THE NORTH IS ONE HAS FINALLY REALIZED HOW THEY HAVE BEEN COWED FOR DECADES, THE MIDDLE BELT NO LONGER SEE THEMSELVES AS NORTHERN'S AND THAT WAS WERE THE WIND OF CHANGE STARTED BLOWING AGAINST THE BORN TO RULE ELITE OF D NORTH.

GEJ SHOULD AS A MATTER OF NATIONAL SECURITY SEND A STRONG AND UNDILUTED MASSAGE TO BUHARI AND HIS BLIND SUPPORTERS TO HOLD THEIR PEACE OR FACE THE FULL WRATH OF THE LAW. HE GEJ MUST NOW SIT UP AND MAKE ALL THE AGENT OF DESTABILIZATION TO KNOW THAT HE IS NO LONGER SERVING OUT YA'ADUA TERM IN OFFICE, HE HAS BEEN GIVING A MANDATE BY THE MAJORITY OF THE NIGERIAN PEOPLE TO DEFEND THIS GREAT COUNTRY FROM INTERNAL AGGRESSORS AND FROM THOSE WHO THINK THAT THE PRESIDENCY OF NIGERIA IS THEIR BIRTH RIGHT.

BUHARI HAS SCORE A HAT TRICK IS NOW TIME FOR HIM TO TAKE A BOW AND LEAVE D STAGE FOR D YOUTH OF THIS COUNTRY

I just don't get it.
I don't get the possibility of loving or accepting the love from someone who causes physical damage to their love ones.
This reminds me of Tina Turner's case study. "What has love got to do with it?"
The best advise I've seen on this thread; You can't love someone until you love yourself. I understand that the person that was referring to the abusive man in question. But at the same time, it also applies to you (original poster). If you love yourself, you would do anything in your power to protect your physical and mental identity.

Why do you make yourself so vulnerable? Do you think you can't be loved by another human being?
I offer you my love then. If my love will help you love yourself, I'll be happy to offer it.
No woman should allow herself to be abused.

I've worked with people who found themselves in similar situation as yours, some even violated by their so called boyfriends. I know it's not so easy to walk away as many suggested here. It's never so easy to walk away, but at times, that's the only option.
I know I'm just a cyber identity, but you need a shoulder to lean on, I'll provide mines. I'll be back on this thread, just incase.
Please dear reserve the other shoulder for me cos i need am bad bad

@poster,
you are not ready to leave d guy yet u want an advice so wot do you want me to tell you cos i definitely dont want blood in my hands for me to tell you to stay, but sometimes i wonder how Nigerian girls behave dont we have cops in nija again or is there no law that protect d right of our woman in that country.

In this country were i live you dare not lift your hands on your gf or wife unless you have made up your mind to cool your heels in jail, sometime last year my neighbor had a heated argument with her bank manager husband moments later d cops arrived on d request of d wife, wen they tried to settle the two of them d wife was like "i cant stay in this house with him this night" after all effort to calm her down falls the cops ask d husband if he has a friend who can accommodate him this night that they will be back to 2moro to see if his wife has calmed down, the cops left with d husband

And i was like oooboyyy can this type of thing happen in my own country Nigeria

Going through this interview my fragile heart was broken i can only imagine the pains and the humiliation you were subjected to, and i know it will only take a miracle for you to love and trust somebody again, but i know Toni that you can come out of this more stronger than you have ever been before. There is a song i love so much, and you are very familiar with this song i want you to sing it aloud anytime you are depress and lonely it will surely lift you up and your spirit will sour higher. My love sing it from your heart and tell your yourself "because he lives i can face tomorrow"

"My Life Is In Your Hands"

You don't have to worry
And don't you be afraid
Joy comes in the morning
Troubles they don't last always
For there's a friend in Jesus
Who will wipe your tears away
And if your heart is broken
Just lift your hands and say

Oh
I know that I can make it
I know that I can stand
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hands

With Jesus I can take it
With Him I know I can stand
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hands

So when your tests and trials
They seem to get you down
And all your friends and loved ones
Are nowhere to be found
Remember there's a friend in Jesus
Who will wipe your tears away
And if you heart is broken
Just lift your hands and say

Oh
I know that I can make it
I know that I can stand
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hands

With Jesus I can take it
With Him I know I can stand
No matter what may come my way
My life is in your hands
