PoliticsBoko Haram: Sharia Or Militant Wing Of Northern Politicians? by beeke(op): 8:16pm On Jan 05, 2012
IT is a very instructive observation by some concerned Nigerians that, when the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) failed to force its way politically within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Ciroma branch of the proverbial "Kaduna mafia" was unable to gain the type of foothold it had within the NPN after its struggle with Shehu Shagari in 1979, in 2011, all hell was let loose. When efforts by a few 'born to rule'' individuals, to warehouse the office of the president failed, anarchy in the guise of Boko Haram became the next choice.

The operational tactics of Boko Haram(western education is sin), a supposed religious sect with curious objectives changed and has since become a tool to return presidency immediately to a few who claim that holding on to political power in Nigeria is their god given right.

As an elder politician, a former Central Bank governor and a major stakeholder in the politics of the North East, is it not a matter of great quandary that, while the North East burned and the instigators of the bloodletting in the region extended their bloody hands to the federal capital, the news media, is voluminously silent on a single comment from Ciroma and his NPLF associates. Comments of agreement or disagreement, no matter how distasteful or insipid from the man who presided over the coffers of Nigeria over a lengthy period of time is worthy listening to?

As a major player in the politics of Nigeria, he came third in the NPN contest for the presidency in 1978/79 behind Shehu Shagari and Maitama Sule. Despite his sponsorship by the astute administrator Hamza Rafindadi Zayyad, Ciroma knows what is at stake regarding the wielding of political power in Nigeria.

He was in good company when he co-opted Ibrahim Babangida, Aliyu Mohammed Gusau and Abubakar Atiku, all prominent men who have presided over the appropriation of the Nigerian fiscus over a lengthy period of time to claim the Nigerian presidency as a northern heritage, with the north defined along their very narrow perception; a northern Nigeria where northern minorities particularly the people of the middle-belt or north central are second class citizens.

Hence, knowing what is at stake, it is no surprise he swore to do everything within his power to ensure that himself and his associates do not play second fiddle to anyone who was not on their side, and that they ''would make Nigeria ungovernable'', if Jonathan or anyone who is not within their anointed circle became president of Nigeria.

This type of threat was taken then in the heat of the struggle as part of political angst and dispensed with. But with benefit of hindsight, and with what has happened so far, we know better and now must take it seriously because it was similarly used against Chief MKO Abiola until he was killed.

I will only take these showmanship in the name of protesters serious if they tarry till the next morning just like the Arab spring but if by night fall they all scatter like sheep without a shepherd to their various houses only to reconvene d next morning the rest of the world wont take them serious. some of us are social activist behind our PC if those shouting kill GEJ kill GEJ behind their desk top can go tomorrow morning in front of NASS or Govt. house and set themselves ablaze in protest then 99% of Nigerians will come out and revolt against GEJ and his team

you are all idiots saying obasanjo caused the collapse of nigeria airways.

When he left as military head of state in 1979 NA had hundreds of planes in their fleet doing both international and domestic routes but wen he came back 20 years later it had only 3planes and things had gone soooo bad through years of mismanagement by both civilan and miltary govts.

In his 2nd coming NA was in dire state burdened with enormous debts and rarely flew.

what did he do about it? He sold it to virgin atlantic and it was called virgin nigeria and we all know this one did pretty well till obasanjo left.

Get your facts straight before coming here to talk uttet nonsense.

Fools!!!
How many people did your OBJ prosecute for this terrible crime or was he referring to ghosts as formal military or civilian presidents, what stops him then as the president of Nigeria to bring those responsible to book remember he who aid or hide crime is as guilty as the criminal himself, he came and saw all this but kept mute until he and IBB had an altercation before he decide to open his shameless mouth this sh*t can only happen in Nigeria

thanks to siasia transmogrification of our team. the question now is, why didn't our team go this abysmal when it was under amodu? ruminate on it
Again this is what some of us dont know wen we talk about FIFA rankings, if most recent result are the yardstick for ranking then Nigeria should have been ranked higher than Egypt but this is not the case cos Fifa use the results a team accumulated for the pass four years, before it was six years but was later changed to four years, which means that the results we got in 2007 is still active wen they do their plus n minus in points. have you ever wonder why Egypt despite a 1win 2draws and 3lost games in qualifier still remain 2nd, is simple since 2006 to 2010 they were the triple champions of Africa and have accumulated points in the process so there current runs of poor form will only start to hit them hard come 2014/15

Mr football analyst Caf has noting to do with rankings Fifa does the ranking for all it federations, e.g if Ghana is 15th Cameroon 20th Nigeria 28th Egypt 35th and Tunisia 48th respectively in fifa ranking then in Caf top 5 will be Ghana 1st Cameroon 2nd Nigeria 3rd Egypt 4th Tunisia 5th, in a nutshell Caf and other federations base their ranking according to Fifa ranking

slave - do you understand english or are you pretending as if you do?

i would really appreciate it if you would kindly point out to me in my post where i said nigeria was the only country that voted in favour of the no fly zone.

the issue is not about how many countries voted in favour of the no fly zone - it is about the fact taht nigeria had no business voting in favour of it in the first place. I referred to you as a slave because you have not even understood that there is something wrong with an african country voting to allow a group of european nations to attack a fellow african nation, in your dumb slave mind you see nothing wrong with such an atrocity and that is why you will remain a slave for life.

go back to sleep slave, you are incapable of reasoning like a full fledged human being
You said and i quote:

throughout this libyan crisis nigeria has acted as pawns of the NATO powers, they voted in favour of a no fly zone - (which is an act of war) against a fellow african nation, they then recognised a govt that continues to kill its own citizens "end of quote"

you started your formal ranting by saying:

"goodluck jonathan is a complete disgrace to the african continent, he has no self respect and that is why he allows himself to be kicked around by the west,"

you are calling GEJ names and blaming Nigeria as if we are the only country in africa that voted in favor of a no fly zone that was why i tried to bring you back to your track but if by now you dont understand how your statement singled out Nigeria for criticism then i must sincerely sympathize with you.

By the way thanks for calling me a slave

the african union have at last bowed to their western masters.

meanwhile the NATO countries divide up the oil and gas and reconstruction contracts among themselves.

can any african country dream of invading a european country, bombing its infrastructure, killing its people and stealing its resourcees and then turn around and say they are bringing demcracy to that country?

Libya owed no debt to the world but that is going to change very soon - very soon Libya is going to become submerged in debt, its people will be impoverished and the wealth of the country will be transferred into the hands of the western oil companies , banks and multinatinals all thanks to the NTC traitors and their western collaborators.

goodluck jonathan is a complete disgrace to the african continent, he has no self respect and that is why he allows himself to be kicked around by the west, hillary clinton speaks him and other african leaders as if they are pre school children , this is the kind of behaviour gadaffi would never tolerate from the west.  the AU tried to stand their ground and stop the ongoing carnage in libya but they were dismissed, ignored and treated with utter contempt by the NATO powers.

throughout this libyan crisis nigeria has acted as pawns of the NATO powers, they voted in favour of a no fly zone - (which is an act of war) against  a fellow african nation, they then recognised a govt that continues to kill its own citizens - a raciist genocidal govt whose aim is to ethnically cleanse the blacks from libya , the nigerian govt has shown itself to be nothing more than a traitor and an errand boy for the western nations.
Dont just open your dustbin mouth and spit poo out of ignorance so you want us to believe that only Nigeria voted in favor of a no fly zone and South Africa didnt, stop fooling yourself and have facts before you advertize your stu-pidity online

Croatia coach Ivan Grnja said this after the match:

"It was a good game and we tried our best to make a good comeback. We were the best against Saudi Arabia but we couldn't win the match. Today we found an opponent with good quality and we couldn't compete with their quality. The problem was the physical status of our players. Most of the players couldn't compete in the game and that's why we conceded quick goals towards the end of the match. Nigeria showed that they are strong and they have good players. We made several mistakes which affected us and allowed Nigeria to score five goals."

No be lie
If it were to be an African coach he will not hesitate to point out that his opponent played with over aged players, a typical example was wen Tanzanian Olympic team manage to win our Dream Team V away the coach brag after the match that if his team can stop Cameroon then Nigeria should not expect any favor from them, but wen we forced him and his players to face reality in Benin the same coach accused us of fielding over aged players.

This is definitely not a good news neither is this the good example our role models are meant to showcase to the youth, Frank in the order hand acted like a 17 years old by going to twitter to wash his dirty cloth and that got me thinking what is happening to this generation what suppose to be a private family affairs finds it way to public, will one be surprise if couples start to twit on how their partners moan or cry in bed. and this is why i pity women, ten years of marriage 3 kids as a result and now you want to separate.

As a man Frank if he want can hook up with the current miss Nigeria and continue is ride from where he stop but same can not be expected of the woman, i wonder what is left for a woman which Virginia has produce 3 kids and 10 vigorous years of marriage. imagine an average 8 times a week by 4 weeks add it to 12 months then multiply it by 10 years and figure out how many waters which has pass under this bridge, pity the next Dickson that will take over.

I have always ask my friends if love alone is enough to say i do? there are so many things needed and respect is one of them. for me if i finally put my hands in the plough i shall never look back no matter what i will strive to make it work

i read with amusement the posts on this Nigerian woman

the babies are so innocent and don't deserve this publicity

I will not support this woman's behavior, it has only shown that she is not a straight person.

First of all she abused the use of drugs.

For someone in her right state of mind, i believe she knew that her actions has consequences and she stood the chance of multiple babies.

I dont believe her claim that she didnt know that she was expecting more than one baby. she endangered her life and the babies by her acts.

I dont want to be judgemental but her actions have further dented the image of Nigerian. it is stated in the visa that "no recourse to public funds", so regardless of her situation, how does she qualify for public funds?

She took a decision and she shld have crossed her "t' and dotted her "i'.

for her to now said that all her families are based abroad and she doesnt have a roof over her head here in Nigeria doesnt sound true to me.

for the sake of the young kids, i pray that her visa shld be extended so that her kids can be strong enough to travel back and she shld be sent home to care for her kids here.

She shld just go ahead and plan her return pending the time, am sure she'll be shocked at the level of support she receive from friends, extended family, religious grps here cos WE LOVE BABIES HERE and we know they are nothing but gifts from above.

She shld appeal to NGOs here as well the state and federal government to help in anyway possible (clear the billshuh).

I will not support her fight to stay there against their laws.

Let's not because of this moment forget tomorrow. enough damage has been done to the image of this country and every little effort made by everyone of us to redeem the image will go a long way.

Thank you
GOD BLESS YOUR SOUL

am neither in support or against her action because am not there in person but no matter what we must take into consideration of these five innocent kids, that's just my point
