This option was proposed to the ministry to enable the NCAA make 36 monthly payments based on receipts from Internally Generated Revenue, IGR. Oh! it was NCAA which has Captain Fola Akinkuotu as its D.G that requested for the cars not Princess Stella Oduah as was ealier reported by Sahalie reporters. Why nobody is talking about Fola Akinkuotu? Why do people leave the 'nyash' that farts to go knocking the innocent head. The days some section of the country would use the media to kick Igbos out of office unnecessaryly are coming to an end. |

Politics › Re: BMW Scandal: Cocharis Car Dealership Gave N112M Kickback To Aviation Minister by BekeeBuAgbara: 4:07am On Oct 23, 2013 |
But initially it was reported that the cars were bought on credit, that first bank stood as a guarantor, the question is where did Coscharis get the 112 million naira he allegedly gave the minister. If out of #255m, Coscharis pockets #60m times 2=#120m, Coscharis bribed the minister with #112m, then how much do the cars worth? Journalists should stop all these jankara journalism. free2ryhme: Even as the minister of aviation began a new spin today that the BMW armored cars purchased by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for her use were done on "hire-purchase", SaharaReporters has unearthed new details about the $1.6 million spent by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to purchase the armored BMW cars for Nigeria's Aviation Minister Stella Oduah.
A highly reliable source has told SaharaReporters that the shady deal for the car was done entirely between Coscharis Motors Limited, a dealership from which the cars were purchased, one of Ms. Oduah’s private firms based in Abuja, and First Bank of Nigeria. SaharaReporters had revealed the account number at the First Bank into which the monies were paid on behalf of the NCAA.
“The NCAA was not even aware of the deal until the minister told them to sign that they had received two BMW cars,” said our source.
After inking the deal, Coscharis Motors, sellers of the highly inflated automobiles, reportedly gave the Aviation Minister more than N112 million as kickbacks. Our source added that Cosmas Maduka, who owns Coscharis Motors, pocked N60 million for each of the two BMW cars.
An official at the NCAA corroborated the information that the agency was largely kept in the dark about the transaction. “We were never privy to the transaction and had not seen the cars even though our head of transport was made to sign the delivery note,” said the source. The agency is under the Ministry of Aviation.
The source added that the agency has still not seen the cars even after the scandal escalated. SaharaReporters was first to break the news that Ms. Oduah compelled a cash-strapped NCAA to pay for two extravagantly priced bullet-proof BMWs for her personal use. After initially denying our reports, the minister’s spokesman, Joe Obi, admitted that the transaction transpired. Mr. Obi alleged that the purchase was justified because of unspecified threats to the minister’s life. Neither Mr. Obi nor the minister has provided proof of any threats to Ms. Oduah. The minister has not addressed why the NCAA paid a price tag that auto dealers in the US and the UK described as a rip-off. US dealers said that each of the BMW cars should cost no more than $$167,000.
Last week, an official of the NCAA, Fola Akinkuotu, spoke to the media and defended the purchase of the cars. Mr. Akinkuotu said the cars were for the ministry’s protocol pool for use in transporting foreign aviation dignitaries when they visit Nigeria. His explanation conflicted with the original statement by the minister’s spokesman, Mr. Obi. A source at the NCAA disclosed that Mr. Akinkuotu felt tricked into facing the media on the scandal. “He had been told he would only appear beside the embattled minister, who was supposed to speak. Instead, he was asked to speak,” said the source.
Meanwhile, a source at the Presidency said President Goodluck Jonathan was unfazed about the fraud perpetrated by Ms. Stella Oduah, his Aviation Minister. Ms. Oduah and the late former National Security Advisor, General Owoye Azazi, had played significant roles in raising and disbursing money to rig the 2011 presidential elections for Mr. Jonathan. Mr. Jonathan will depart Abuja tomorrow on a weeklong pilgrimage to Isreal.
However, SaharaReporters learnt that several ministers and diplomats have registered their displeasure at Mr. Jonathan’s continued retention of Ms. Oduah on his cabinet.

Sincere 9gerian: There is an ongoing ferocious attack and propaganda against the minister of aviation and all that she has achieved so far. The logic that opening up Enugu Airport to the outside world will kill the aviation sector is what I dont understand. The silly analysis obviously did not take into consideration the economic expansion in the region that will accompany the international Airport. With more economic expansion comes more traffic at both local and international Airports in the region. The argument that a whole region must be restricted to local flights just to encourage growth of the local airlines based in Lagos and Abuja is ridiculous, wicked and silly For how long shall Ndigbo continue to be the sacrificial lamb, why must Igbos continue to travel Lagos and Abuja to catch a flight going out of the country, now that has been reversed some ndi ufu obi, the same people that always shout ''go back to your village' are having nightmare. •So, Stephen Keshi has taken the Green Eagles to the final of AFCON and Nigerians and the Nigerian media are rejoicing. What a display of shortsightedness. Is this not the same nation that wrote off the team when it looked as if it would not get out of the group stage? And rightly so too! On my part, I don't care if Stephen Keshi wins the cup and makes history as the second person to ever win the competition as a player and as a coach; he is not worthy of his job and he must be sacked and his job given to someone who understands the politics of national football team management. Yes, the politics! For what does talent has to do with representing our nation? Ask yourself an honest question: is it fair that Keshi selected a team devoid of our beloved practice of Federal Character? Just examine the squad list: Vincent Enyeama, Joseph Yobo, Elderson Echiejile, Obiora nwankwo, Efe Ambrose, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Brown Ideye, Emmanuel Emenike, John Obi Mikel, Reuben Gabriel, Fegor Ogude, Godfrey Oboabona, Ikechuckwu Uche, Austin Ejide, Ogenyi Onazi. Ejike Uzoenyi, Sunday Mba, Nosa Igiebor, Juwon Oshaniwa, Kenneth Omeruo, Chigozie Abim. If you cannot see that this is an Igbo team, then you should take yourself to Specsavers for a pair of good glasses. How can we as a nation rejoice in a team that does not reflect our unity in diversity? Is Keshi saying that there are no Yoruba or Hausa players worthy of selection? Of course there are! Keshi has put up nothing but an Igbo team with a few odd inclusion of non-Igbo players amounting to nothing but tokenism! It is for this reason that his achievement is tainted! Kai! How did a PDP Government, a party so vast in the promotion of regional inclusiveness even allow Stephen Keshi to get away with this aberration? Is this not the same party that have sectioned the Presidency into turns? Yes, every region must wait their turn to present a president and it does not matter if he or she is the village idiot. PDP carry go! It beggars belief therefore that Nigerians are rejoicing as a nation and pretending that all is well with the team simply because the Eagles seem to be flying again. I ask, whatever happened to our psyche which relies on the principle of "not sufficient to rely on the best, we must call on the rest." For how else will the rest be expected to have a sense of national pride if no one from their tribe is represented in the team? Keshi errs therefore in selecting an unbalanced national team made up mainly of people from one section of the nation to represent us; surely that is why it is called a national team. We need a team to include players with names like Adunbarin Agbabiaka, Wole Eniolorunopa, Segun Legunleko, Akin Jengbojenju, Danlami Dahiru, Ahmed Danbaba, Balarabe Gambo, Bashir Bako; and if you cannot see this, you are seriously compromised! Who does he think he is then, only taking the best? What does having the talent to kick around a football has to do with anything? With such unsound rationale, Stephen Keshi has missed the point of this job: a national coach must rise above myopic sentiments and select a team reflective of our national and federal character. Every region, I submit, must get its quota! So, trophy or no trophy, Stephen Keshi must be summarily dismissed and good old Federal Character reinstated pronto! '' every region, i submit, must get its quota! So, trophy or no trophy''. No wonder our sports are in shambles. Defeat means nothing to some Nigerians provided there are Emeka, Kayode, Musa, Efe in the team |

pazienza: That happened ages ago, why can't you guys let that go already, how long do you intend to gloat over it?
Nigerians had since recognized their folly, and had come to believe in Keshi and his tactics, and their support for this team had been unconditional since then.
Most of them watched this match with their hearts on the hands, they cheered for this team, why must you try to make them bitter, after their team had win?
Why must you ascribe the whole glory to your group? is it fair? Without the support of all Nigerian groups, where do you think this team will be now.
You guys should stop this already,it's becoming too childish. February 2013 is ages ago? SMH |
