Politics / Re: Buhari And Ambode At The Commemoration Of Osun At 25 (Photos) by Bekwarra(m): 10:25pm On Sep 01, 2016 |
So what are we to do with the pictures? Useless government that only revels in photo ops for their gullible supporters. How low can a country go when the president is busy commissioning secondary schools? Well Ambode is much better so many projects going on simultaneously in different parts of the state especially the hitherto untouched parts. He's doing a great job as far I'm concerned but he should tone down on his seemingly aggressive anti-poor policies. Nonetheless his performance in less than two years is already more than what the clueless one in Aso Rock can ever muster in 4 years. Like Apostle Peter advised in the bible that we should pray for our leaders so that we may live peaceful lives, I hereby declare and decree wisdom into the life of Mr. President because there has been an obvious lack. *in keneking voice* useless government, useless APC FTC no big deal. 19 Likes 1 Share |

6. ABF Defence and Strategy These ones are the defenders of the universe both online and offline. Whenever she posts a picture or write up on facebook or instagram. They are there to give her multiple likes and give her sweet comments. If anybody tries to give a negative comment on her, they go berserk launching missiles, grenades and nuclear weapons. On campus they are always there following her about as security guards. If the lady is the saucy type that can yab a dead man back to life, it is the ABF Defence and Strategy she runs to after finnaly getting her cup full and abusing those stronger than her father. You will hear her running and shouting at the same time "mrcork oooo I don abuse some mad guys o abeg come threaten them with your range rover" 7. ABF Logistics He's the on in charge of logistics. He follows her to the bank to deposit or withdraw, she wants to collect a new atm card, he'll escort her, her line has been blocked and wants a retrieval, he's there with her. She wants a new apartment, he'll be the one to go and scout, find the agent and caretaker, get painters and electricians to fix the apartment. He's the one to help her copy assignment, he will go online, finish the assignment, type it, print it and spiral bind. He'll do 80% of her final project. Get the "engineer" to repair the faulty gen, go to dstv office to help her pay for subscription, take her gas cylinder out for refilling, help her get a carpenter to repair the kitchen cabinet, take her laptop for repairs. Baba is everywhere at every time. 8. ABF Miscellaneous Baba is in charge of recharge cards, data subscription, subscription for dstv, lawma fees, money for fuel, buying of a new charger and earpiece after the old one got burnt, buying of new bulbs and wall sockets, refilling the gas cylinder, new cartons of noodles and provisions. Baba is not as financially buoyant as ABF Finance so he can't be burdened with the major expenses so the minor ones go to him because he's either a civil servant or his daily earnings come from baba Ijebu or bet9ja. Once her dstv sub expires, she picks up the phone and call "HungerBad dear please my dstv subscription just finished and I must watch Saloni and Married Again tonight, baby please help me out" or "Vizkiz! sweetie my gas has finished o and I was planning to cook for you this weekend o. How are we going to do it now? And the thing is just 3800" 9. ABF kpanshing Baba has nothing to offer other than his long and rigid tool and also his strength and virility in bed. Baba gives her multiple orgazms due to the rough and hard way he handles her in bed. Baba blows her out and knocks her off every time they tango in bed. The match always looks like a Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid match. She always leaves for home satisfied. Although they might not be emotionally attached but she doesn't joke with baba as nobody does it better than him. 10. ABF General Secretariat. Baba is the jack of all trades and master of all. He multi-tasks all the above roles together with to much expertise. The ultimate utility player whose versatility is second to none. He's the closest thing to the main guy and might end up becoming one. Do you think this list is complete or I should have added or remove some? Kindly show your opinions in your comments. 137 Likes 23 Shares |
Romance / 10 Types Of Assistant Boyfriends by Bekwarra(m): 10:44am On Sep 01, 2016 |
There is a set of guys we popularly call assistant boyfriends. Just like the name suggests they are assistants to the real boyfriends. Some people might mistake it for a friend zoned guy but they are different. An assistant boyfriend is the mid-point between the real bobo and the one who has a duplex in friend zone avenue. The type of assistant boyfriend a guy is and the level of smartness will determine whether he becomes the main bobo or the friend-zoned one. Assistant boyfriends are important to most ladies because they play active and decisive roles to them and like I opined earlier, an assistant boyfriend has a good chance of upgrading to the main guy or downgrading to a friend-zoning. ABF as I will refer to it subsequently is not as good as being the main bobo but it's definitely better than being in friend zone. One thing I want us to note is that many of us have been ABFs at different times. While some of us have ended up as main guys some among us also have become BOT chairmen as friend zone corporation. For others in multiple relationships, you might be a main guy in one and ABF in another. Here are the 10 types of ABFs from my observations. 1. ABF Finance He is the Dangote and Bill Gate rolled into one. The real money bag so to say. He's in charge of all her finances. The wicked ladies might want to refer to him as "maga" or "mugu" but that's unfair because bros is only being generous. Whenever she wants to pay her school fees, rent a new apartment, pay her rent that's due or go on a shopping spree, his name is the one that pops up in her head. He's the financier and caters for her financial needs. If he's smart enough he might get more than the hugs and kisses and get to visit Aso Rock Villa but you can never tell with some guys. Dear lady are you feeling broke? Please look for an ABF Finance. 2. ABF Emotional Affairs He's in charge of emotional matters. He's most susceptible to ending up in a friend zone. He's very close to the lady and also a confidante but that's also his albatross. He's knows everything that goes up in her relationship and acts as the chief adviser. He also advises her on who to date and who not to. You'll always hear things like "Wristbangle see David has started again o, he's no longer picking my calls" or "Tosyne2much can you believe Akin used another girl's picture as his dp?" Or "smellymouth do you know that cute guy in our department? He just asked me out, should I tell him yes? Whenever she has issues with her bf or gets heartbroken, it's the work of the ABF Emotional Affairs to provide emotional support; a shoulder to cry on. In fact some go the extent of having the contact of the main nigga and act as mediators whenever there's a conflict. I was once in this category with a girl but in my own case a shoulder to cry on became a deek to ride on. 3. ABF Religious Affairs He's the brother in the lord. They are mostly Bro David, Bro Samuel and Bro Joshua. Bros sees her as the one whom God might have chosen for him but she sees him as just her brother in the lord. On campus, he's always coming to share tracts and devotionals with her. They read and study the bible together. They pray together. In fact if she has problems, bros sometimes to join her in fasting or even fast on her behalf. But because of his religious creed, he cannot even ask her out straight up. They are both workers in the fellowship and while Bro John hopes and pray God opens her eyes to see him as her dream husband, sister Rebecca continues going off campus to spend the weekend with Lalasticlal.a the main guy. At home, they know him in her house as the brother who comes every evening to do voice training with sister Hannah and discuss biblical issues with her. They know that every Sunday morning Bro Rasaq must come to their house to remind Sister Balqiz that they will be going for Nasfat prayers that morning. 4. ABF Stomach Infrastructure Like the name suggests, he's responsible for stomach affairs. She remembers him whenever she goes hungry. He's the one that takes her out for meals, buys her snacks and drinks. Whenever she feels like taking peppersoup and malt on a friday night, his name comes into remembrance. You'll hear things like "and I feel like eating Shawarma oooo. Ok let me call kinglekan" I know many of these guys back on campus then. They are always ready to take the girls out to Tantalizers, Spices to take peppersoup and sminrnoff or to eat Amala Skye bank in Bodija with assorted meat yet they can't buy even one bottle of Satzenbrau for their guys. At the end of it all na ordinary hug u go collect as thank you while she uses the energy given to her buy the food you bought to ride the main nigga to heaven. 5. ABF Repairs and Maintenance Baba is always the one responsible for repairs and maintenance of household items. If you fall under this category, you know yourself. You are always remembered when her wall socket gets burnt, she wants to change the bulb, her wristwatch suddenly stops working, her laptop needs to be reformatted, her small tiger gen is refusing to start or her extension bo blew off, then you fall under this category. Well December is almost here and she wants to repaint her room, bro go and get some of your clothes you no longer wear, change into them and grab the goddamn paint container and brush abeg. 80 Likes 15 Shares |
Nairaland / General / How Many Times Have You Ever Been Banned On Nairaland by Bekwarra(m): 8:49am On Aug 26, 2016 |
Nairaland is one of the most exciting, informative and interesting online forums in Nigeria today. It covers a whole lot of subjects from politics to sports, entertainment to culture and education to technology. It is a melting point of many nigerian youths of different ethnic, political and religious persuasions. However, as is obtainable in real nigerian life so it is on Nairaland. People get into religious and ethnic fights easily and most times many of these are unnecessary. These have left many people with broken e-limbs and some battered beyond recognition. The kind of unprintable and foul words adopted during these e-wars usually leave Nairaland mods with little or no choice other than to ban them. However, it is pertinent to note that not all people are banned for breaking the rules as some are also banned unjustly by some mods who turned themselves into tin gods that must be worshipped. This doesn't also change the fact that many have become veterans with bans and become sent back as soon as they come back from one. This is what prompts me to ask the question: How many times have you ever been banned on Nairaland? For me the answer is twice. I guess I'm not a trouble maker after all. |

Politics / Chibok Girls: Nigerians React To Buhari's Failure To Receive Protesters by Bekwarra(m): 12:33am On Aug 25, 2016 |
Igho Akeregha (President, Civil Liberties Organisation) One of the major promises President Muhammadu Buhari made to Nigerians during his campaign was that he would free the Chibok girls if he was elected. He also promised to defeat the Boko Haram sect and ensure the return of security to the country. But he has not succeeded in fulfilling these promises. Unfortunately, it appears that the President is overwhelmed by the situation in the country. The fact that the President stopped Nigerians from exercising their fundamental human rights on Monday raises a serious concern. People have the right to hold him accountable; he promised that he would be accountable to Nigerians. But he is not doing that. When some Nigerians are taken hostage, the President must explain to the country what his administration is doing to free those taken as hostages. It amounts to arbitrariness and insensitivity if he uses state machinery to prevent Nigerians from enjoying their rights. That is a questionable behaviour on the part of the President. Everybody must rise to condemn the prevention of the Bring Back Our Girls group from accessing the Presidential Villa on Monday. The State House is not a personal property; it belongs to all Nigerians. So, Nigerians should have access to the President whenever they want, especially when an issue like the Chibok girls is at involved. The people have to decide whether they can still put their hope in the President or not. In the interim, Nigerians must continue to mount pressure on the President to rescue the girls. We must not leave the battle for the BBOG. Every pressure group and civil society organisation must be involved in the campaign. We must continue to demand an explanation from the government on the whereabouts of the girls. The impression the government is giving is that it does not know where they are. There are people who know the location of the girls are; the government must find and rescue them. Aisha Yesufu (Co-founder, Bring Back Our Girls) Preventing the protesters from accessing the Aso Rock would not stop the campaign to rescue the girls. But, what does it say about the government? It means that it is a government that does not have any regard for the citizens. When the citizens are banned from expressing their fundamental human rights by the same government that should protect those rights, it means there is a problem. The BBOG movement would continue to do what it has been doing. It would continue to push for the rescue of the Chibok girls. Tuesday marked 862 days since the girls were abducted; we have not forgotten them. For us, it does not matter who is the President of the country or whether it was the same person that was in government when the girls were taken hostage. It is the responsibility of the government to rescue them. By rescuing them, we are not doing them a favour. It is there right to be protected as members of the society. And that right is guarantee by the constitution. I am very disappointed that the administration that came on the basis of change has decided to permit impunity. It has forgotten that citizens matter. It has forgotten that the highest office of the land is not the office of the President but that of the citizens. What happened on Monday was the highest level of insensitivity. I don’t think that the President would have done what he did if his daughters were involved. He would not have sent the police after those who went to his office to ask for an explanation on the efforts of the government to rescue the girls. What happened shows that we have a government that is very insensible and irresponsive. Kucheli Balami (Human rights activist) The issue has become extremely political. I think there are better approaches we could use to sustain the campaign if we stop politicising it. But I am not sure the politicisation of the entire process would stop. As a Christian, I have resorted to prayer. I think prayers would make a lot of difference if we all acknowledge that God can do what we are unable to achieve. As I said, we can adopt other approaches to make the campaign more effective. But would the politicisation allow us to explore other options? Mr. Femi Aduwo (National Coordinator, Rights Monitoring Group) The international community has the indices for measuring the performance of a democratically- elected government. Compliance with fundamental human rights is one of the indices. On Tuesday, I posted on Facebook the photograph of a woman who has been protesting in the front of the White House in the past five years, abusing President Barack Obama. At the White House, there are thousands of people who protest and abuse the President, day and night. Those people are enjoying their freedom. Nobody tramples on their rights. Unfortunately, the Bring Back Our Girls group was the same group the All Progressives Congress used to demonise the Peoples Democratic Party before the 2015 general election. Then, the President promised that he would free the Chibok girls within three months in office. But because he has failed woefully, he has turned against the group. What the President is doing is absurd, insulting and it shows that we only have elected people not democrats. There is no difference between the approaches of the current administration and those of the administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. Interestingly, Jonathan allowed the group to continue its protest without harassing the members as the current administration is doing. On two or three occasions during the Jonathan era, they even entered the villa and were received at the gate. Some members of the APC, including Senator Dino Melaye, joined the group. There is no problem with that as their demands were genuine. Nobody molested the group back then. We expect the current administration to be more humane in dealing with the group and the issue. It should continue to discuss with them. The government keeps saying it does not know the whereabouts of the girls. That is embarrassing. The government should stop violating people’s rights. Just a few days ago, a young man was detained for naming his dog ‘Buhari’. Who cares the name you call your pet in a civilised society? Imoudu Marcus (Lawyer and public affairs analyst) The prevention of the Bring Back Our Girls protesters from accessing the Aso Rock by security personnel does not speak well of our democracy. In 1999 and early 2000s, we were referring to our democratic practice as nascent. Seventeen years after the military gave way to a full-scale civil rule, our behavioral patterns need to reflect the tenets of democracy. But what we have is different from that. In my view, there is no reason whatsoever why the BBOG campaigners should be barred from seeing the President. I personally feel that the President would not be happy that overzealous security agents stopped the protesters from reaching him. There is no better place the group would have taken its campaign to than the villa. Stopping the members from getting to the President amounted to a violation of their right and it was not necessary. It is our hope that the tenets of democracy would not be militarised as we progress. The police are expected to nurture the growth of democracy because of their strategic role in the society. There is absolutely no need disallowing harmless protesters from entering the villa. The President promised to rescue the Chibok girls during his campaign. If that promise has not been fulfilled 15 months into his administration, it not morally right to prevent the BBOG campaigners from seeing him to remind him of his promise. Siyan Oyeweso (Professor of History) I think the Bring Back Our Girls group needs to adopt an innovative approach to make their campaign relevant. It is not the number of times that you abuse the President on public fora and cry in the public that determines the response you get from the government. The President is the father of the entire nation. There is no way he would not show empathy towards the campaign for the rescue of the Chibok girls. The entire saga would soon pass away because the President is committed to the security of the country. I know that the BBOG is patriotic just like the President. Perhaps, some other important engagements prevented the President from seeing the members of the group when they visited the villa. A more diplomatic approach should be adopted. The group should be more persuasive in dealing with the President. The abduction is a tragedy that has befallen the country and it must be properly managed. At this stage of the campaign, a more refined approach is recommended. We must acknowledge that governance is a very complex and serious business. There is no president that is not concerned about the security and safety of his people. [img]punchng.com/chibok-girls-reactions-greet-buharis-failure-receive-protesters/[img] |

The same can be said of Yorubas who can be found in the Southwest, North-central and the South south as well as a couple of West African countries. The same can't be said of the lost tribe of Israel from the land of the setting sun who can only be found where red mud and erosion ravaged land is an identity. Then using your logic, Anambra is not totally an Igbo state since there are a handful of Igalas there. Kwara is Yorubaland located in the north-central. And listen Yorubaland is not limited to Nigeria. Yorubas are in large number in Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and Ivory Coast. Politics / Nigerians Back Mbaka, Say Hunger, Poverty Unbearable- Punch by Bekwarra(m): 1:42am On Aug 04, 2016 |
Many Nigerians on Wednesday overwhelmingly backed the Enugu Catholic priest and Spiritual Director of the Adoration Ministry, Enugu State, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, for his blunt message to President Muhammadu Buhari. However, some Nigerians mocked the cleric on social media, saying he should have known that the President was not the ‘messiah’ the country needed before supporting him during the 2015 presidential election campaign. Mbaka had in 2015 prophesied the defeat of ex- President Goodluck Jonathan, who he urged Nigerians to reject. On Tuesday, the respected cleric shocked many when he said that Nigerians would not vote for Buhari in 2019 unless the President addressed the socio-economic challenges facing the county. In the message that is currently trending, Mbaka said there was too much suffering in the country and faulted the President for not appointing the right persons. He said, “There is hunger everywhere. Landlords are crying; tenants are lamenting, sellers are crying, buyers are lamenting – there is hunger on the streets. I can’t keep quiet when things are going wrong. “I am telling the President to look around him and know those who are advising him rightly and those who are telling him that there is no trouble. The President should know that there is trouble. If things continue like this, in the next election, nobody will vote for him.” A former governor of old Kaduna State, Baralabe Musa, on Wednesday said Mbaka’s message stated the obvious. Musa, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said the President could only win the 2019 election through rigging, which he said would plunge the country into crisis. He said, “If the challenges facing Nigeria are not addressed, Buhari will lose in 2019 except he rigs the election. And that will be dangerous for the country.” Another northern leader, Yerima Shettima, said the President was fast losing the goodwill that gave him electoral victory last year. He noted that the Buhari administration had lost focus, which had led to abject poverty and suffering for Nigerians. Shettima, who is the President of the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, said the President shunned the counsel of honest Nigerians at the risk of his goodwill and future electoral value. He said, “The level of poverty is extremely high and it is worsening. People have advised him, but he refused to heed good counsel. His goodwill has nosedived. “What we have seen is different from the expectations of the masses. People sacrificed so much to ensure that he emerged victorious at the poll. But what we have seen is appalling. Personally, I have stopped advising him because he does not listen.” The National President, Ohaneze Youth Council, Mr. Okechukwu Isiguzoro, told our correspondent that Mbaka spoke the minds of the people in the eastern part of Nigeria. “I don’t know what the South-West and the North think; but Mbaka’s statement is the voice of the Igbo. The reality is everywhere. There is suffering everywhere; people struggle to feed. There is hunger in the land because of the President’s poor handling of the economy,” he added. A Lagos-based lawyer and human rights activist, Liborous Oshoma, compared the waning goodwill of Buhari to the challenge ex-President Jonathan faced, leading to his loss to Buhari in 2015. Oshoma said, “What Mbaka said is the reality. People who overwhelmingly cast their votes for Buhari last year are beginning to have a rethink. People saw him as the messiah Nigerians had long waited for. However, what we have seen is not what we expected. “We should not forget that Jonathan had a similar support in 2011, but he blew it. Now, Buhari is gradually blowing away his. If he does not address the current challenges, even his party, the All Progressives Congress, may pay for his inaction.” Mbaka’s bold message also provided an opportunity for Buhari’s opponents at the poll to assess his administrative style. For instance, Remi Sonaiya, who contested on the platform of the KOWA Party, said a natural democrat could have managed the challenges confronting the country better. She said, “There is no doubt that there are general problems. Part of the issues people have raised about the President is that he does not react quickly to issues, and that his military background is affecting him. “Perhaps, somebody with a different background could have handled the issues differently and better. The President has just put together an economic team. One wonders why it took him over a year to do that.” On social media, Mbaka’s message got a large number of comments and they kept increasing as of 9pm on Wednesday. On The PUNCH’s website and on other digital platforms of the newspaper, it received hundreds of comments and shares. Commenting on punchng.com, Bill Johnson, who joined other readers to ventilate the issue raised by the cleric, said he was disappointed at the manner the President blamed others for the challenges facing the country. He said buck- passing was a major reason the administration had yet to deliver on any of its campaign promises. He wrote, “Blaming others is not a quality of a true leader. A true leader does not blame followers, he takes the blame, and that compels him to look for solutions.” A Twittter user, Tunde Orimidupa, wrote, “What Mbaka said was not an attack, but an obvious truth. He did the same thing during Jonathan’s administration. He is doing it again. Nigerians should commend him.” Writing on Facebook, Ayotunde Ajiboye said, “Mbaka only spoke the truth; there is a threat ahead because people are hungry. A hungry man is an angry man. The issue is beyond voting for him in 2019; I foresee a mass revolt if the government does not act fast.” Aldrin Ativie also tweeted, “The truth is that Nigerians know there is trouble in the land.” Kingsley Alexander, who tweeted on @KingsleyAlexan9, advised the President to urgently fix the economy, adding that he was fast losing patience. According to Daniel Igboanyika, Mbaka’s message aptly captured the mood of the country. He said over 95 per cent of Nigerians were not happy with the manner the President had handled the economy. On Facebook, Olufemi Mathew Ojo wrote, “Mbaka said the same thing during Jonathan’s era and it happened, now he is saying the same thing to Buhari.” Akinsanya Waheed also wrote, “If one plastic of garri remains N600 till next year, I will vote Buhari out of power in 2019.” On Disqus, an online commentary platform, O’seun Ogunseitan, however, disagreed with Mbaka. According to him, Buhari’s performance is constrained by the level of corruption that characterised the Jonathan administration. “The administration did nothing in six years to build a functional refinery although the yearly fuel subsidy it paid would have built one. Jonathan’s ‘experts’ were only good at ruining the economy. They left the economy in a terrible condition,” he wrote. But one of Mbaka’s critics, Elobyte Formidable, wrote on Twitter, “Mbaka does not deserve the attention he gets. When did he realise that Buhari was not good enough for Nigeria? If he is truly a pastor, he should have known that Buhari would not take the country out of misery.” |
