Hi,
I will also like to apply. Kindly share any info you have as to the application, I will be sharing any update I have too.
I will be applying for a Doctoral program. Presently, I'm planning on getting the health certificate.
Hi!

Some persons have said we have to notarize, or certify our documents as true copies in a court. I checked the website of the Japanese embassy and no such instruction was given.

What do you think?

Oga why not switch to data science instead. I know the kind of jobs I have gotten which I couldn't take due to my location and other stuff. I started as a web developer but later switched to data analysis.
I began learning data analysis since the beginning of April 2020 and I feel like I wasted my time learning Advanced Microsoft Excel, Inferential Statistics and Power BI.

I've built some business intelligence dashboards but I feel like it's difficult to get jobs in this industry.

Please cut soap for me :-(

Gr8ng sent me a mail to fill my data. Everything about this gr8ng is shady from the name. The site is only not secure, it has white spaces and not easy to navigate around.

Among the information requested was account name and information with phone number. This is the first time I haven't been offered a job and my account number is required.

Please guy, how is Nigerian breweries related to Gr8ng?
I refused to fill the form because it really looks shady. Why would those details about me be needed?

And besides, they requested for our details via Google form - something anyone can do!

My case is a missing Passport...i got my passport same day I scanned and I paid 105,000 in total..I needed the passport that week and can’t wait like others..they said the booklet that is remaining is for ministers, government and that they have only 4 bookclet ,wereas they are lying so that you have no option than to pay high.if you’re traveling there make sure you have lodging money too
They were obviously lying to you. I suppose that is how they'll also act when I want to apply for passport....and the expenses will be double if I go there 'cos I don't want to lodge anywhere. Thanks!

Yes I did mine in Kogi-Lokoja
How much did you pay?
How long did it take before the passport was issued to you?

I'm thinking of getting the passport from the immigration office in Kogi state.

Who has gone to the immigration office in Warri or the one in Kogi to apply for passport?

Very good. Have you taken your time to go through the module catalog?
Does it look like what you can Crack?
Because the word computational might involve programming and mathematics during the course of your training.
Are you really good at Maths and programming?

One thing is getting into a program, another thing is finishing the program, so it's highly advisable to go into the courses you can do because their educational system is really high and demanding.
The reason I'm going for Computational Science is because it allows me to find employment in different fields.

I am particularly interested in becoming a Data Scientist/Machine Learning Engineer but I don't know if the people in Germany's Foreigners'
Office will allow one find employment in a different field from what they studied.

I heard it's under review but I'm not sure if it's been fully enacted into law

Ofcus I do.
I plan to get a professional job after my studies and gain international experience in a particular field and possibly citizenship.
Even if I should leave Germany for other countries, I feel like acquiring professional experience first because wherever you go, professional experience matters alot to secure jobs.
By God's grace, I will only leave Germany when I am sure of job in another country of Migration.
I don't plan to leave and start life afresh in another country but only leave to continue from where I stop in Germany if I must leave, that's why from next year, I am sticking to one job and investing all time in personal development and working towards fluency in German.
The plan is already there, just waiting for God to perfect it
Damn!

You are so focused! If only I could have this unflinching focus and strong zeal smiley

It's a great course just like many other courses too, but you need to learn the language to atleast B2 level to expand your chances of getting a job after your education.
Also you might find it hard getting admission in courses you don't have related BSc in.

Oh, I see.

Thank you very much for your reply. My other program I intend to apply to is the Msc in Computational Science since it's multidisciplinary.

There are options to specialize in Computational Finance , Computational Physics, Computational Geoscience, etc

Thanks again!

Hello Basalt,

Thanks for the information you have shared here - love it!

We both have a degree in Geophysics. I'd like to ask though, what can you say about an Msc in Natural Resource Management or Energy & Engineering Management, in Germany?

What are the prospects for one with the degree after studies?

I have noticed a number of people going over to Germany to study for a Master's degree in Energy related Management programmes. Could you please enlighten me?

Thanks in anticipation!

Don't know about Fintiba, but if you are opening a blocked account with Expatrio, it comes with a public health insurance registration (TK). You receive the insurance confirmation.
Lol grin

My brother, don't look at the benefit when you're still in Naija oo!

That's just their way of "buying" you into registering under them. The main question should be - "What are the benefits will I get during my study?"

"How much will I be paying for the insurance?"

"What non-health related assistance can they give me?"

Etc

When you have answered these questions, then you would know the kind of public health insurance company you'd like to register under.

Sure. Data science is too broad for a course.

Courses from SuperDataScience on reinforcement learning (2) and one on machine learning helped a lot. The book hands on machine learning too was influential.

Medium.com and towardsdatascience.com blogpost also keeps you updated with new trends.
The head of SuperDataScience is Kirill Eremenko. @Ejiod suggested his Machine Learning course to me on udemy. I suppose I'll have to follow his learning path, if any.

I never liked the idea of using books to learn Machine Learning, but now that you've recommended this book, I'll definitely download it!

they used express entry after getting masters in those countries or through job fairs. some Canadian employers go regularly to some of those countries to recruit people ( you must be a legal resident there).

https://www.immigratemanitoba.com/category/mpnp-notices/strategic-initiatives/ this is for Manitoba they go to south America and Europe often
Thanks.

You're right, ednut1. Some people have moved from Germany to Canada via the Express Entry route, but could you please explicate more about the job fairs?

From the link you provided, it appears employers would have to submit an expression of interest to the Canadian Government. How can legal residents in other countries apply?

I anticipate your response.

Amazing!

I am a Data Science enthusiast and I really like everything you wrote. Before commencing any online course I usually check Quora and Reddit for reviews. I understand that there is no particular online course that will teach you everything about DS.

Could you please enumerate the courses you took while climbing the ladder of Data Science?

I'd really appreciate. Thanks in anticipation.

Relocation most times is not about the money. Some get good jobs some dont. But nothing beats staying in a system that works, good health care( buhari amd family use foreign health care imagine), good opportunity to change careers etc. You are also guaranteed a good future for your kids. I have not met any Nigeria regreting since i came here. This is me coming home at 11.30 pm last week without any fear of my safety. Nothing beats that bro
I always see your comments about Canada, here on nairaland. I'm glad there are many good Nigerians like you, who are willing to help others with tips, advices, etc

Thanks for all you do.

Good day everyone, i want to apply for PhD in university of Goettingen, after reading through their website, i was told to write to the supervisor first please while have done that, what is the best thing to do next, and also is it possible to get resident permit after my completion of study? I also noticed there was no English profiency for PhD, abi I didn't check well,
Please i need advice so as not to take the wrong turn.
This question is unique. Dr. Kelechi who is currently working at P&G (Procter & Gamble), Germany, gave a talk on how to apply for PhD during the NiSIG (Nigerian Students in Germany) event, early October. I would to share the YouTube link with, but the last time I did while also telling people about the NiSIG-Barmer Health Insurance collaboration, it got deleted. Please send me a mail for the YouTube link and other materials you might find helpful.

Yeah.. Exactly..Its good for a start, especially for ppl that are new to the field, and it's even free so you have nothing to lose, just only to invest your time and data.
No, it's not free. The fee is $80

Yes it's not too relevant if you are looking for a job at google or amazon, but it is a plus to your cv as far as naija job is concerned, if you can easily afford it, it's worth it. I'm also considering having it, at least for a start.

Note, IBM data science certification still stands out among others.
That's nice!

Do you know any relevant Data Analytics certification(s)

You can also learn data analysis for free from this website

Thanks for sharing, GreenDee. I would like to ask, is the Microsoft Data Analyst Associate certification worth it?

I went online to make research about it but some "HR managers" on quora and Reddit said it's not too relevant.

Ejiod and All, what's your take on this?

Barmer is your best option. They are in partnership with Nigerian Scholars in Germany (NiSIG)
