PoliticsKano Emirate: ‘you Are Power Drunk’ – Arewa Youths Attack Ganduje Over Feud With by bellachibaby(op): 8:51am On Jun 10, 2019
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has accused the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, of being “power drunk.”
Speaking with DAILY AYCF President General, Yerima Shettima, who was reacting to the feud between the Ganduje-led state government and Sanusi, described the face-off as unnecessary.
The Ganduje-led administration had queried Sanusi for allegedly misappropriating the Emirate Council’s N3.4 billion.
It was gathered that the Emir was queried after the submission of a report by the State office of the anti-corruption and Public Complaint Commission who investigated him on the alleged squandering of the Emirate Council’s funds.
The report, which was submitted to the state government last week Tuesday was said to have recommended for the immediate suspension of the Emir.
The government has consequently handed down a query to the Emir through the Office of the Secretary to the Government, Usman Alhaji.
DAILY had reported that the government was planning on the complete deposition of the Emir when a final report of its forthcoming panel of inquiry comes out indicting Sanusi.
However, Shettima warned that the deposition of Emir Sanusi would lead to crisis in Kano State.
According to Shettima: “The issue is totally unnecessary; but I thank God for the ongoing interventions and reconciliation at the instance of well-meaning Nigerians.
“I thank God because the alleged move won’t happen because if it happens, Kano would have gone into crisis and we all know how Kano is when it comes to the issue of violence.
“It’s really a terrible place to experience violence. I thank God for those who intervened also you can’t undermine the place of a traditional ruler. The Kano traditional Emirate has been there for over five centuries and Ganduje thinks he can just wake up one day because he has four years and undermine that institution that would amount to calamity.
“Ganduje is power drunk and he is abusing it in this matter. He can’t be fighting everybody at the same time no matter how powerful he is. Ganduje is nothing but a common mortal. He can’t be fighting everybody, its so embarrassing there was no reason for the crisis, he just went about creating unnecessary panic everywhere. In the nearest future he is going to bear the cross for so many things he has done.”

PoliticsAppeal Court Asked To Determine Buhari’s Qualification For Presidency by bellachibaby(op): 6:32am On Jun 06, 2019
The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has been asked to determine whether President Muhammadu Buhari supplied false information about his educational qualification and certificates, in the Form CF001 he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, before the 2019 general elections.
The appellate court is in an appeal marked CA/A/436/2019, further urged to determine whether the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, is competent to file processes to defend the allegation that President Buhari lied on oath about his qualifications.
The appeal was lodged by three litigants, Kalu Agu, Labaran Ismail and Hassy El-Kuris, who identified themselves as electorates and taxpayers.
The trio, are challenging the dismissal of a suit they filed against President Buhari prior to the presidential election.

Trial Justice Ahmed Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja had in a judgment last month, dismissed the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1310/2018, on the premise that it was statute barred.

Cited as defendants in the matter were President Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and INEC.
Meanwhile, in their four grounds of appeal, the appellant contended that the high court judge erred by relying on a preliminary objection that was filed on behalf of President Buhari by the AGF, to dismiss the suit.

Citing several decided cases, the appellants argued that, “The Attorney General or a lawyer in his office cannot appear or file processes for the 1st Defendant”.
Besides, they urged the Court of Appeal to determine, “Whether the Learned Trial Judge was right in holding that the suit was statute-barred by computing the number of days from the 28th day of September 2018 when the 2nd Respondent held its primary election wherein the 1st Respondent was elected as a candidate of the 2ndRespondent?
“Arising from the foregoing it is our submission that the Learned Trial Judge was, with respect, wrong to have held that the objection to the representation by the Attorney General and ipso facto the processes was belated in that there was no objection to the appearance of the law officers and that the Appellants reacted to the processes filed. A court must be guided by the process before it:

“It is evident from the processes and proceedings before the court that there was a frontal challenge by the Appellants to the processes filed on behalf of the 1st Respondent by the law officers. The court was bound to rule on this issue and not sweep it under the carpet.

“Howbeit, it is further submitted that it is settled law that the issue of competence of proceedings or a process cannot be waived when the challenge goes to the fundamental nature of the process and not merely on a procedural aspect of the process:
“In the circumstances of the foregoing, we urge Your Lordship to hold that the reliance of the Court on the processes and the refusal to strike them out was wrong.

“Further, we urge Your Lordship to reverse the decision of the Court, assume original jurisdiction on the matter and strike out all the processes filed by the 1st Respondent’s Counsel.

“By Section 31(5) of the Electoral Act, it is the information given by the 1st Respondent, the candidate to the 3rd Respondent that is the subject matter of this suit.
“It is, with respect, inconceivable that, in the light of the clear and express provisions of Section 31 of the Electoral Act and the reliefs sought, the Court reasoned that the Appellants could be challenging the information set out in a document submitted to a political party by an aspirant.

“It is, with respect, self-evident that Section 285(9) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) cannot be referable to an event occurring at the primary election of a party since the document in issue is a post-primary document.

PoliticsAdamawa Governor Speaks On Women Being Relegated To ‘the Other Room’ by bellachibaby(op): 4:13pm On Jun 05, 2019
The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has assured that women will play noble roles in his Government, stressing that
women would fare a lot better under him than being relegated to “the other room” and the kitchen.
The governor gave the assurance Wednesday in Yola while receiving delegations of women and other groups who visited the Government House to pay him Sallah homage.
“For the women, you will not only belong to the other room and the kitchen,” Fintiri said, assuring that he would in the first instance not make a man head the Ministry of Women Affairs.
Fintiri is yet to give indications as to who will make his cabinet, except the hint that a woman will head the Ministry of Women Affairs, unlike what obtained in the immediate past government which entrusted the women affairs ministry to a man.
The Adamawa chapters of the National Council of Women Affairs, National Association of Women Traders, and Women in PDP Secretariat were among the groups that paid the Sallah homage to Fintiri at a brief ceremony in the Government House, Yola. Other groups included: Youth Council of Nigeria, butchers association, and some ethnic groups.
He assured all the groups of fair treatment by his government, saying, “We are here and will be here for you. We have started and we will continue to do our best for the overall good of the state. We have promised you an 11-point agenda and that’s what we will account for at the end of our four years.”

Fintiri, who is fondly called ATM following his show of passion to workers when he first led the state as an acting governor in 2014, has shown something of that era in the few days since his May 29 swearing-in as governor.

Towards last weekend, the Governor released the pending April and May salaries of the state civil servants to workers.

Sports'she Filmed My Son!' - Neymar's Father Labels Rape Accuser As Extortionist by bellachibaby(op): 3:34pm On Jun 05, 2019
Two days after the release of a case report filed by a woman accusing Neymar of rape, Neymar’s father made a statement on the case again.

In an interview with the program "Aqui na Band", he said that his son was the victim of an extortion attempt.

According to father Neymar, there was no violation of the law in the disclosure of the images. It turned out that the post was deleted by Instagram.

“Imagine leaving such an accusation, seeing your son be called a rapist." So the decision to have Neymar expose himself. We preserved the image of the girl, the name, we did the possible. But it was a defense. We do not commit the crime.

“We had no choice. I prefer an internet crime than rape. It was a defense and he needed to defend himself quickly. Better be true and show what really happened.

“She wanted him to go to the hotel again. He went and stayed 10 minutes on the second day. He saw the cell phone standing on the wall carrying it. But he realized that she was filming. She sent a message saying she has this video.”

“She attacks him, he throws himself to the bed and tries to calm her down. Ask her not to create confusion. He calms her, leaves the hotel and sends the return ticket.

“Neymar also tried to film, recording the conversation. But he failed. He puts his cell phone in his pocket and couldn’t. There he saw that it could be a trap. After this second meeting they didn’t talk anymore. She even sent threatening messages later.”

Neymar's father said he expects his son to have a "good head" for the Copa America. Commenting on the events before the record of Friday's report, he said there was a meeting between the two parties' lawyers

“They asked for the girl to shut her mouth, the words were those words. The contact was through a friend. He sent me a message about the case and then I got the message from the lawyer asking for a meeting. I was not, I sent two lawyers and one witness.

PoliticsGroup Reports El-rufai To President Trump Over ‘ethno-religious Clean-up Of Sout by bellachibaby(op): 3:25pm On Jun 05, 2019
A group, Voice of Northern Christian Movement in Nigeria, VNCMN, has alleged that since the emergence of Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai as governor of Kaduna state, peace has evaded the erstwhile peaceful Kajuru chiefdom.
VNCMN Executive Director, Rev. Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, stated this in a strongly-worded letter to the United States President, Donald Trump titled: “Ethno-religious Clean-up of Southern Kaduna by Governor Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai”.

The statement made available to newsmen, reads, “lt is very important to state that the Adara Chiefdom in Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state has had a good, cordial and peaceful working relationship with the successive administrations of former governor’s Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, Namadi Sambo, Patrick Yakowa and Labaran Yero respectively.

“However, since the emergence of Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai, peace has evaded the erstwhile peaceful chiefdom. By virtue of his divisive poisonous utterances and policies, the people in Adara chiefdom have never been more divided along religious lines.

“He unilaterally proposed to create a purely Islamic Emirate for the handful of Muslims in Kajuru town over large swaths of ancestral Adara land. This coupled with vindictive arrests and detention of any outspoken Adara citizen has shattered any existing cordial relationship in the area.

“In the light of the foregoing, the Chief of Adara, Chief Dr. Maiwada Raphael Galadima was invited for a meeting with governor El-Rufai and while on his way returning from the meeting with the Governor, he was ambushed and abducted together with his police guard, wife and daughter. The wife and daughter were eventually released but the police guard and the Chief were murdered. Since then, the Adara chiefdom and the entire Kajuru local government area are faced with constant threats, attacks, killings and mayhem.

“This same governor Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai in public told the entire world that he has given millions of naria to the Fulani terrorists to stop attacking people of Southern Kaduna.

“He (Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai) saw that the Fulani terrorists cannot complete the work of cleansing the ethno-religious Southern Kaduna, governor Ahmed El-Rufai took over from the Fulani using the power of government on Southern Kaduna people to take over Southern Kaduna communities for Islam and Fulani ethnic groups abusing the power of government.
“This scenario raises the question why this unpleasant situation is only focused on Southern Kaduna which is predominately inhabited by Christians. Why is it that there is no government Gazette on district and villages restructuring (Amendment) order 2018 in respect of Northern part of Kaduna but only Southern Kaduna? Gazette are supposed to be made in respect of Emirates and Chiefdoms at the same time as published by the Kaduna state government of Nigeria No. 21 vol. 52 under the Kaduna state legal notice No. 1 on the 16th August, 2018 which enacted without due process.
“In line with the policy thrust of the present administration to reduce the cost of government, the state Executive Council resolved to restructure the said districts and villages which restructuring was effected with the making of districts and villages (Restructuring) Order 2017 herein after referred to as the principal order. One now wonders why this restructuring was targeted to only Southern Kaduna who have hitherto lived in peace.

“From the foregoing, it is clear that the focus of governor El-Rufai and the federal government are pointing to the Islamic agenda with a view to taking over all Christian settlements, villages, towns, districts, local governments and the entire state to the detriment of the Christians.”

VNCMN then demanded the intervention of President Donald Trump and the international community for a lasting solution to acts of lawlessness and intimidation of the Christian community in Nigeria.
The statement added, “The government has taken the Christian tolerance and kindness for granted thus the incessant hostility and ceaseless threats, attacks, kidnappings and mayhem leading to destruction of lives and properties.

PoliticsAPC To Oyegun: You Lacked Oshiomhole’s Courage To Face Saraki, Dogara, Others by bellachibaby(op): 2:04pm On Jun 04, 2019
he All Progressives Congress (APC) has mocked former National Chairman, John Oyegun, saying he and the National Working Committee he led as National Chairman lacked the courage required to confront the pockets of political despots who could not operate by the party’s rules. The party cited the National Assembly saga in 2015 that saw the emergence of Bukola Saraki as Senate President and Yakubu Dogara as Speaker against party wishes, while Oyegun could not do anything about it till he left office.

PC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in an interview with journalists, spoke in reaction to Oyegun’s comments that incumbent chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, was leading the party using “agbero” (tout) style.

The resultant effect, he said, was widespread indiscipline across party ranks, lack of respect for party supremacy as witnessed in the 8th National Assembly leadership and its overall inability to align the varying interests of the legacy parties that came together to form the APC in 2014.

“Let me agree that the NWC that led the party into the 2015 elections and continued till June 2018 did nothing different from what you would find in PDP.

“It was a period the party was seen as a mere vehicle to attain political office. The system accommodated impunity as certain members appeared to be superior to the party.

“Their interests were far more important than the collective interests of the APC, even when most times such interests are at variance with the ideals the party stand for.

“You would recall that it was under that leadership that some impudent members of APC called the bluff of the party by imposing themselves on the National Assembly as leaders contrary to the position of the party. Where was the party?

“Where was the discipline when this happened? It would be difficult to calculate what lack of courage to assert the party supremacy cost APC over that period.

“The consequences of the inaction of the party were unimaginable. We all saw the consequences on governance as the National assembly practically held our government to ransom.

“The impunity, which President Muhammadu Buhari has rightly described as lack of patriotism, constituted an unfortunate hindrance to the smooth running of government.

“The leadership under Chief Oyegun, with due respect to him, condoned all sorts of acts of indiscipline from certain members. It is not surprising that the current National Working Committee inherited such a huge mess, where the party was struggling to differentiate itself from the delinquent PDP. Read full statements here

PoliticsRivers: Wike Government Speaks On Owing Banks by bellachibaby(op): 8:22am On Jun 04, 2019
The Government of Rivers State has refuted claims that the administration of Governor Nyesom Wike is hugely indebted to banks in country.

The Government urged Nigerians to disregard the falsehood being peddled by those he described as ‘anti-Rivers political forces.’

The Debt Management Office had last week listed Rivers as one of the highly indebted States.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Paulinus Nsirim, stated this yesterday, when he addressed journalists at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

Nsirim said, “This misinformation is another attempt by detractors to malign the integrity of the current administration in the state which has since its inception in May 2015, shown utmost frugality in the management of state resources.

“This appears to be another orchestrated plan to de-market the state through unconfirmed statistics since other forms of negative propaganda had failed.

“That with a healthy monthly Internally Generated Revenue profile of at least N8 billion, the state does not resort to reckless borrowing that will make her run into debts.

“That as a matter of deliberate policy, the current administration in Rivers State desirous to leave behind a worthy legacy, does not embark on white elephant projects that will require bogus financial obligations,” he said.

He disclosed the state government operates accounts with only Zenith and Access banks, noting that it (state government) had repaid all loans obtained.

“That the state government inherited a commercial bank loan of N15,845,118,108.44 in 2015, which had been liquidated.

“That all loans taken by this administration for the infrastructure development of the state from Zenith and Access banks had been liquidated too.

“That the issues of debts owed to contractors, pension arrears etc, that the Debt Management Office used to stigmatise the state are recurrent and capital expenditures, which payments are ongoing.

“That the Federal Government’s intervention loans approved for every state of the federation has a repayment plan that is spread over many years. Rivers State government has not defaulted on the repayment plan.

“That we do not know where purveyors of this concocted information got their facts before they went to the media to misinform the public,” he said.

He emphasised that the Wike-led administration has been prudent in the management of scarce state resources backed by a healthy monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

PoliticsMinimum Wage: TUC Reacts To Fears Of Buhari Govt Scamming Workers by bellachibaby(op): 8:04am On Jun 04, 2019
The organised labour has dismissed insinuations that the Federal Government was not sincere enough to implement the new minimum wage of N30,000.

The President-General of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Mr Bobboi Kaigama, spoke on Monday in Akure during the fifth Triennial Delegates’ Conference of the Ondo State chapter of the union where Com. Helen Odofin emerged the new State Chairman.

Kaigama insisted that the new minimum wage as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari was not a scam, NAN reports.

Other newly elected officers included Clement Fatuase – Vice Chairman; Soladoye Ekundayo -Ex-officio; Dayo Adebiyi -State Secretary; Tope Akinsola – Asst Sec; Taimiyu Olufemi – Treasurer.

Others are Ikechukwu Nneke – Fin Sec; Femi Owolabi -PRO; Olusegun Akinbolasere – Auditor I.

Swearing-in the new officers, Kaigama who was represented by the Secretary-General of TUC, Mr Musa Lawal, noted that a presidential technical committee to work out new salary templates had been set up and expected to submit its report next week.

Kaigama explained that labour unions and their leaders were not doing enough.

“We are not sleeping, the battle for the minimum wage is very straight and we are not sleeping on it, what we are currently doing is to create a template.

“And that is why we are trying to appeal to those that are receiving more than N30,000, is not something you do by magic, it’s technical and that is why we (government and labour) set-up (Presidential) technical committee to look into the matter.

“We don’t believe government can scam the workers because I believe in the welfarism of everybody and I don’t have doubt in President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration either to scam or not,” he said.
